Opinions de Mill Cafe Mammoth Lakes Area
We just discovered mammoth mountains snowboarding in the spring of 24 and we are hooked. We used to snowboard in Tahoe and that 10 hour drive. Now we travel 6 hours and we love it. Amazing snow and services. We are still discovering the mountain and hit the mills area pretty hard. Looking forward to discovering the rest of the trails. Easy in and out and we always get lucky finding the parking spot. Luck of the draw! Can't wait to go back up. This was December 17 2024.
We are a group of 40 somethings who visit Mammoth Mountain 3-4 times during the winter season. With each trip, we look forward to visiting our favorite female bartenders at The Mill. We have explored the bars at the other lodges, but none of them compare to the service at The Mill. Cathy & Courtney are friendly, personable, efficient, and professional. Our drinks are never empty. Their Mai Tais, Margaritas, and other cocktails are delicious. Their beer poor is nothing less than perfect and everything is served with a smile. Everyone is treated with respect as long as they follow the rules, which they are not shy about enforcing. No smoking on the patio. Keep up the good work ladies!
The Mill, one of our favorite spots for a quick lunch and a beer. They have the best fries by far! In fact, our routine is to ski all weekend and during lunch time, meet at The Mill, grab a couple beers and order fries, it just makes our ski day a 100% better. Masks are required in Mammoth which also makes us feel safe. Get the fries and a beer, you won't regret it.
This has been my favorite go to place for a drink and taco Tuesdays when they have it. The bartenders Cathy and Courtney are the best!
Great view of the slopes during quik break at your car 🚗
Best mid day by hangout. Great bartenders, good food, and hip music. Try to get a spot by the fire and heat your gloves
This was some of the better food I had at a ski area. The grilled chicken sandwich was fabulous.

Great place to eat. Brisket, Tri Tip, Ribs, BBq pulled pork. Burgers Fries etc. All are very good.

You can get to beginner and experts trails from here without having to look for oarking by the main lodge. Definitely a nifty place
The spot! When visiting mammoth 🦣
One of my favorite spots to grab a drink on the mountain. They always play great music on the deck on bluebird days.
Great spot and decent food. A little bit pricey but it is a ski resort. Good views of the mountain
Hanging out in the parking lot is fun for apres-ski in the spring. Great atmosphere
Nice location on the mountain. Good pkace for a quick meal and a drink. Easy in and out. Very nice staff as well.
Real BBQ here. (You can smell the wood fire). Excellent pulled pork sandwiches and other tasty selections.
During the the bbq is perfect while skiing. Afterwards it becomes a great place for an intimate wedding
Awesome place to kick ur boots off for a bit and enjoy the scenery, the food, and a great variety of drinks (adult and otherwise)
Great lodge and good vibes. My favorite spot to stop for lunch
Great BBQ and great vibes. I really like all the old decorations on the walls and the old style feel of this place.
Depending on the day, Mill can be more crowded and have a bit of a wait compared to Main or Canyon.. but there's just something special about having breakfast or lunch or a drink at Mill.
Great bar. Otherwise normal quick bites on a cafeteria line for a ski lunch.
Resort prices, yes. But the portions are great, the staff is friendly, and the ambiance sure beats the lodge!
A friend and I went to the Mill near Gold Rush and Stump Alley chairlifts. We arrived early, before the lunchtime rush, at about 10:15 am. We got juice and soda, and I bought a croissant for $6. We spent the next three hours chatting with lunch goers in our five chair table. Someone stole the fifth chair to another nearby table but we didn't mind. At 12 noon, we got lunch. My chicken sandwich and bottled water totaled $18. It's resort pricing ! Not bad, considering we got to talk to a lot of other guests at our table.
Trying to avoid the crowds and seasonal tourists during the winter? Get to the Mill. Way less people traffic than Main lodge, with easy access to just about the whole mountain. Also, of you park here, traffic is less worrisome since you are closer to the Village and won't have to deal with rush hour from the huge lines of cars on the side of the road!
Had appetizers and dinner for a wedding we went to at this gem of a location in beautiful Mammoth Lakes. Loved absolutely every single bite of everything we had from the sliders and chicken empanadas to the salad and last but not least, the amazing entrees. The pacific white sea bass with chimichurri sauce was AMAZING! Please do yourself a favor and dine here when visiting Mammoth! You won't regret it!!!
nice place to get a bite to eat or get a drink at the bar and enjoy the view of the slopes and soak in some sun, snow, rain, hail, or varying degrees crisp fresh air. which ever you find most suitable. also right next to chair 2 and 6 with a parking lot right by.
Great fun on mountain food and drink place Perfect for mid day rest spot
The bartenders are very friendly. The Mill has drink specials daily. The garlic fries are the best I've ever had. Taco Tuesday is very good and great food and drink prices.
Superior food especially compared to the rest of the mountain. Much smaller area. No cafeteria feel like the other places. Great flavors/ ingredients.
Best place for food and drinks on the mountain. Drink specials during the weekdays. Best atmosphere as well with the lounge chair layed out on the snow. When the sun is out this is the place to be, it's a lot of fun.
If you can find parking, there's easy access to the ticket booth and chair lift. The lodge has a small cafe and bar with some indoor seating and a good amount of outdoor seating.
Garlic fries is awesome. Chow down with local beer from Mammoth brewery. Doing so while basking in the sun at the outdoor seating area, the experience is simply the best.
Good spot to relax from the slopes. Typical mountain prices and atmosphere. Food is pretty good as well. I usually go to this post instead of the main lodge.
This place can get crowded, so choose wisely. When it’s not busy, it’s one of my favorite places on the mountain. The BBQ is very good and it’s a great place to grab a beer between runs.
My favorite eating and resting spot on the mountain. Same cooks and servers for years. They know their business and dish out the good stuff. Great Tri-tip!
Best spot on the mountain
The Mill was always great but now they've expanded the patio and dining areas and put in a DJ booth. (We miss Chris, though)
Always a great time at the mill. Some of the best and coolest bar tenders can be found here.. seriously a great vibe and lunch spot worthy of a visit. Water available too...
Mammoth, after they got dumped on. Good times.
Good food. No waiting.
The loaded nachos are a great meal for two people or the best-ever shared snack for four or more. Good drink specials and on a sunny day, amazing place to sit outside. Beware, however, that on bad weather days the place gets PACKED inside and there’s hardly any room to even move. Keep in mind that there are not very many “healthy” options here — a grilled chicken sandwich and a sad salad are the closest you’ll get. There’s also a tool bench if you need to tighten or switch up your bindings.
Jose Montes is a hero, he was banging out orders all alone with a massive breakfast line and remembered every order without missing a beat. Not only was it quick but it was great. Highly recommend Jose for a raise!
We had a blast., it's hard to find parking and seating., you must get there early to get those luxuries. We arrived at about 8:30am on Thanksgiving Day and we're able to park just outside of the parking lot and we were able to find a table outside. There is a bar inside, food and bathrooms.
The smell of brisket blasts from the Mill like loud rock and roll all over stump alley. Tempting you with sin, eventually you succumb. Whatever the cost to your soul the brisket is worth it.
Very cozy environment, food prices were a bit high but portions were great, don't order the Jalepenio brat oys deep froed and destroys the food. Otherwise great spot!
Best place to eat and drink on the mountain. Even accessible by car for non-skiers.
Was my first time skiing, and I have to say it's quite something. Everyone there was so friendly I had a couple falls and the staff and others helped me back to my feet. There are plenty of good starting out runs for those that aren't the best at skiing. I managed to hit the blue runs open at the time at some speed but realistically was still going like 25 mph. Thank you to the staff on the skii lifts!
The Mill is our go-to for a midday break from the slopes. The bartenders here are fantastic – friendly, attentive, and always make us feel welcome. The pulled pork and tri-tip sandwich is absolutely delicious. Perfectly seasoned, tender, and just what you need to refuel before heading back out. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the ideal spot to recharge. We stop here every time we're at Mammoth, and it never disappoints. Highly recommend!

Honestly the breakfast is worth it. The avocado toast is better than any I’ve had in LA and I hope that says something….. Assume it’ll always be busy! Inside and outside bar combo is pretty cool. When they also have chairs outside to relax and look at the mountain.
great spot at the bottom of stump alley, take a break, have some lunch, enjoy the mountain views. good food & drink

great spot at the bottom of stump alley, take a break, have some lunch, enjoy the mountain views. good food & drink
Great place to park and ski out of if you are an intermediate to advanced skier.
Great daily drink specials! Interior is a bit small so space can be very limited on busier days.
Quaint ish slope side lunch spot with bar and good outdoor seating, weather permitting. Latter is best in spring.
The mill is a great on mountain option for food and drinks. Every once and a while they offer specials that can be very delicious as well!
Good place to find some food and drinks on the mountain. But usually pretty crowded and also has not much space available.
Small crowded, but still a good place to get out of the elements. Beer, pizza, and other decent foods and beverages. Free water and restrooms
There was no sitting outside today due to the heavy snow conditions. Everyone was inside and it was very crowded. But everyone is on vacation so most everyone is pleasant.
Good place to eat, a few options. Pricey, but it's on the mountain, so what do you expect.
Good vegetarian chili and you can get it in a bread bowl too. Gets very crowded during lunch time.
Was there for a wedding reception so it was close to the public. So these ratings are based on a private party.
Great food and drinks in the middle of the mountain. Dont go nuts here though, its really expensive!
The Mill is small inside but a nice place to hang out outside if it's not to cold.
Great pitstop for drinks. Small selection of draft beers and cocktails. Noy a ton of seating and can get crowded. Has outdoor seating. Park nearby for quick access to a couple lifts
Nice place to relax at Mammoth Mountain take a break and sit in the sun when the weather gets good the place is packed. Easy access to two lifts to different sections of the mountain. Parking is also close to the lodge and lifts.
A fun and friendly atmosphere, perfectly located at the bottom of Stump Alley @ Mammoth Mtn, when the fresh powder has left your legs feeling like wet noodles, stop in at The Mill, grab a bite or a refreshing drink of your choice, the bartenders will take good care of you and is a PERFECT enhancement to your vacation! Check it out, you won't be sorry that you did!
A great place to chill for the afternoon if you tire out early. Good drinks and food. Knocked off one star because it gets crowded inside but plenty of outdoor seating.
Good place to take a break while you enjoying skiing. A bit small to accommodate crowds.
One of the less crowded areas to grab a beer. The lawn chairs on the snow on a spring day get popular and you can meet tons of new friends. The food is good but the drinks are better. Their Irish coffee is a good way to start the day
This is a great spot on the mountain to grab a meal or even just a drink. Great outdoor seating with ski in ski out access. The indoor space isn't very large so it can get crowded, especially when being outside is not the best option. If your skiing at Mammoth the Mill is worth a stop.
Great place for a rest while skiing. Always somewhat crowded and limited indoor seating. Good basic food and full bar.
Food is decent. Prices as expected for on resort dining. Space is limited and it's pretty hard to get a table inside but there is lots of area outside to lounge around if the weather is favorable.
Packed. Full, tons of people !! I do not think the MBA hired personal really thought or even stepped into the Mill. To make it a well thought Thor fair for business. Just saying. At the bar, the service is stupendous, but the food socks and is over prices for the quality and taste. Hey upper admin staff, invite me back for another review.
One of the smaller lodges at Mammoth, but an essential stop as you make your way across between Main and Canyon / Eagle lodges. BBQ is usually meh, stick to the garlic fries. Seating inside is tight and always busy, seating outside isn't much better. Bathrooms are just large enough to handle the crowd.
Food is decent with a smaller variety than other on Mountain outlets. Cozy inside with a fireplace, but not a lot of seating. What is available is frequently taken by people just hanging out and frequently eating food they brought. Fireplace is nice to warm those toes if you can get close. Outside has a good amount of seating, but on those cold windy/snowy days it's probably not the best spot to get your chili and rest before hitting it hard the last few hours.
BBQ on the mountain. Best in spring
I did not eat here but the menu looked pretty good (prices as you expect at a ski resort). The location and atmosphere is pretty good and has a good 'lodgey' feel to it. Great outdoor seating and service and on a good sunny day, plenty of sun chairs out to relax

Expensive , and food is mediocore. A good stop for a quick beverage between runs but would not spend too much time here.
Good food but limited seating (especially when it's cold outside). I recommend the multiple meat BBQ plate (skip the chicken) to share.
The food is always delicious but don't expect smiles from the cooks.
"Come on Man", the lifts start loading at 7:30 AM. Why aren't the restrooms open at 6:30 AM. There is a line of skiers waiting at the door at 7:00 AM. If you opened the doors at 6:30 AM you might sell some coffee and breakfast foods too.
Almost always super crowded at the bar. The food is basically the same at all the mammoth owned restaurants (canyon, mccoy's, main, eagle etc) but the mill sometimes has BBQ.
Great location but how could it be bad. They jave a monopoly and the take advantage of it. Drinks are incredibly over priced. Bring a flask or put a six pack in your car. You are allready bent over on ticket prices and then thwybdo you raw with the drinks.
The 70's and 80's had some terrific music. You will hear none of it here.. most of the stuff was made by one hit wonder bands that could be the great grandparents of most of the kids here. earsplittingly loud, probably so that the geriatrics who still apreciate it don't have to turn up their hearing aids. Food and beer are not so good. There are really nice lawn chairs out in front. But like the music, they have seen better days.
Order the pulled pork nachos. The pork was just ok. They use shredded cheese instead of real nacho cheese and melt it in an oven. The chips were ok. I would not recommend them. Way over priced.
$20.00 for a burger and a bottle of water is way to expensive. Burger was overcooked and dey, cheese was not melted. Typical resort food.
The pulled pork and coleslaw was absolutely disgusting so I feel obligated to try to drop this 4.4 rating. That being said, the fireplace in the center of the room is a super nice touch. And the staff was outstanding. Beer was good. Great experience. Except for that food. For Jesus sake fix the food.
Even on the least crowded of days, you'll take a major trek to even find the entrance of this facility because there are simply too many people in a major area of the mountain trying to enter and exit a very small building. Never eat at this facility, it's worth it to wait and take a chairlift and head to either canyon,Broadway, or McCoy. And dont even get me STARTED on the food prices and how much of a ripoff it is.
