My first experience eating West African food. Food was excellent. I got the joloff rice with some chicken and some curry. Chicken was cooked tender but slightly crispy and delicious goat was on point. The rice was so flavorful and spicy I can't wait to go back again and get some more. Highly recommended if you want to try something new or just love food
They have Vegan! This Gem was hidden in my parents neighborhood I’m glad I noticed it today and decided to check it out! The Spinach Stew was amazing! I thought the Melon seed was scrambled eggs at first lol but it’s delicious 👌🏼 I look forward more vegan options in the future I could eat that stew with rice or sourdough and garlic bread as a replacement for plantain. Or maybe reduce the serving of the plantain and add a small serving of rice or beans since I wouldn’t eat the entire amount of the plantain myself as it was a bit too much to eat alone for me because I normally eat just one banana a day lol Great atmosphere too and cocktails look amazing I can’t wait to try next time!
We wanted to taste a few things so we had Buffalo Jollof Rice with Chicken, Fufu Egushi (spinach) w Beef, Fufu Peanut Soup w Chicken. Super great experience. Everything was on point. Flavors, service, atmosphere. We drove down from Canada Niagara falls, (25 min) (well worth the drive) Back to PA. Stop by, you wont regret it! Too bad we dont have this back home 😔.
One of my favorite dinning spots. Food is amazing!! Takes me back to Ghana / Mom's home cooking, everytime. This is the place to be of your looking to try something new or looking for taste of home.
Wonderful place with a feeling of friendship. Food is terrific if you like to try different things. Service is in the learning stages, but Ester is the greatest all around person. Ester should be there all the time lol!!!!
The food was great, tasted very authentic. I felt like I was in Ghana. Even the decor was very appealing and reminded me of back home. Would def recommend! What we ordered: Fufu and chicken light soup, fried yam and suya, boiled yam and spinach stew 😋
I had been wanting to try them for quite sometime, so glad I did the food was freshly made, delicious and a huge serving. That spinach was the best. Its spicy but so good. Our waitress was also the cook but she cooked that food to perfection! Even though they didnt have the drinks I wanted to order. I will return soon!
Very small restaurant but amazing food. We got the hot pepper soup with fufu, jollof rice with fish and waakye with fish. We also got a side of plantains. The atmosphere is cute and the music is thematic to the restaurant. Everything we got was flavorful and delicious. The service is a little slow but worth it because of how good the food is. The food was flavorful and spicey but not too spicey. It was just fantastic.
Food was great! Waited a bit for our food but I think that’s because the food was fresh! Made to order. Service was ok they were nice but they kept disappearing into the back. We were like chasing them down to ask for more napkins and any extra we needed once we got our food. The aesthetic of the restaurant was really cute, but it was kinda cold. Also had to wait to order a drink from the bar because again, they kept going into the kitchen but DRINK WAS 10/10 once we got it though. Good music while we waited! 👌🏻
If you're looking for good West African food (Ghana and Nigeria, for example), this is a great place. For many of the dishes, you're choosing your starches (fried rice, beans & rice, fried plantains or yams, fufu) and then a protein (fish, chicken, beef, or beans). Everything we had was great, and the servings were huge! I had heard that it might take a while to get our food, but ours came out to the table in a very reasonable amount of time. Everything was well seasoned and well cooked. The fried plantains that I had were perfect; just a bit crisp on the outside, but creamy inside. Nothing that anyone in our party had was super spicy (granted, we're all Buffalonians), but some of the sauces were a bit warm, and all were flavorful. They do have alcoholic drinks, but we just had soft drinks. These were in a refrigerated display, and you can just take what you want, and they'll charge you when you pay. I was really happy to find two kinds of ginger beer and Goya Malto! Given what I had heard, the staff will help you with learning how to eat the soup and fufu without cutlery, but we didn't run into that situation when we went (I couldn't resist getting the suya kabab). But if you want the authentic experience, I think you can get it here.
OMG We were welcomed with open arms and made to feel one of the family! Super chill atmosphere coupled with the world’s most comfortable chairs. We sat at a table rather than the community table and enjoyed a BE CAREFUL shot of their Spicy African Root Dry Gin. Food was ridiculously perfect- the abundance of tastes were fantastic! You gotta go!
Great great customer service and also good came out hot and fresh. I've never had African food before and this experience definitely didn't let me down. I got Jollof rice and chicken with plantains. The food was very flavorful and it was also very fulfilling. I will definitely be coming back to try the fu fu and the goat soup tomorrow.
This truly was an amazing experience. First time indulging in this cuisine, and the owner (I think) was so amazing. She took her time explaining the dishes to us. Asking us what flavors we like to then in return provide recommendations for us to try. We ordered 4 separate dishes to try and all we amazing. One thing to note we ordered the Suya Kebab as one dish, and we were told we can control the spice. We ordered it mild, OM it was so good but it was also super spicy at mild, so just take note of that when ordering! We also tried the Jolo Rice, Fried Tilapia(head included) and FuFu. Of course I have nothing to compare too prior. But now I do, and Yalleys has set the bar high. Definitely recommend!
The jollof rice with fried chicken was amazing. This is a must try. The fufu soup with goat was very spicy but great but impossible to finish even with two people. overall we had a great experience. I think every dish will be more than enough for 2 people even their half portions
I had the fufu and spinach stew with beef. It was really good and had a ton of flavor
Driving passed from a friend's home, i had to stop in my tracks, turn around, and check it out. I made a takeout order and when I got home I was happily surprised. I ordered the rice and beans dish with fish and ohhh boy. So yummy. I highly recommend it. I went during a down time, so my review is limited.
Yalleys is a very convenient, ideally located on Kenmpre Avenue, in North Buffalo. They have a very large selection of African foods, their service is great with a welcoming staff and a large free parking lot. I would highly recommend Yalleys for everyone looking for authentic African cuisine.

Excellent food! Had the egusi and chicken and the white rice and stew really good food. The man at the bar/hosting and serving was great! The food was really good.
Never had African food before this, we got jollof rice, egusi with beef and fufu, and goat pepper stew. It all tasted fantastic!! We fell in love with the jollof rice, we are both mildly spice tolerant people but by no means champions, my boyfriend can devour a whole plate without sweat but I need at least a little water. We get it with the beef, which turns out a little dry but I assume this is because they make them in large batches, as we had 0 wait for our food and it was ready 5 minutes after ordering, sauce on top and all. Flavor is impeccable, it's a regular on our takeout rotation now!

Went for dinner with a friend who deep in the Jollof Rice wars of African countries as he's from Cameroon. We both had the Buffalo Jollof Rice ($18 large; $12 small) as our main course. We also both choose chicken as out meat, but you could also select beef or goat for the same prices. The Joloff rice was well seasoned and was very delicious. There was just a tad of spice that was the perfect amount to make every bite really savory. The meal came with a small amount of salad and French dressing. I gave this place four stars because though the food we had was delicious, the service left some things to be desired. For example, my friend ordered a soup but it never came. Not really sure what happened since it wasn't busy at the time we ate. Definitely would return again though to try some other things on the menu as this is the first west African restaurant I’ve seen in the Buffalo area.
Must say I was impressed with the prompt and fast service, I felt like trying something other than my usual cuisines! Travelling from Niagara Falls to experience African culture. The staff was professional and welcoming. I’ll definitely be back to patronize this establishment, thanks for the first time experience!
I have been eating at this restaurant for 2 1/2 years. My experience at this restaurant has always been good. My most two recent experience was on Wednesday and Saturday. The cook who made the peanut butter soup w/ chicken and fufu it was very delicious. The chicken was cook perfectly and very tender! However, the cook on Saturday was very pleasant. Unfortunately, the chicken was very hard and unable to bite into the chicken. Thank for the replacement of meat.
I have only had African food a handful of times but as soon as I saw yalleys I was intrigued. Cute little spot with a lot of character. Went on door dash and ordered what was advised as the most ordered *Fufu with egushi which I got with chicken.....holy cow. Great flavor and spice. A good portion as well. It was so good I told everyone at work about it and planning on going back with my wife to experience the dine in. If like me you have limited or no experience with the cuisine try it. You will not regret it. Staff was friendly but I went in at a slower time so they were doing other prep work. A good pick up experience with great food. Would totally recommend to those looking to try a new side of Buffalo eating.
I asked if the Buffalo jollof rice was spicy and was told that it was not, but when I received it it was definitely spicy. It did taste good however it was just very spicy. The chicken is really good and flavorful though. Also, the egusi was extremely spicy too.
Wow! Very happy I tried this restaurant. I've never had ghanian food before. I ordered a couple of the most popular dishes, fufu with chicken egushi, and buffalo jolof rice and chicken, I was very impressed with how flavorful everything was! It was a unique flavor profile of spices that I haven't had before. I loved the texture of the fufu, and although it doesn't really have much of a flavor ,it was really enjoyable to scoop the food up in and eat. The chicken was cooked perfectly, tender and moist, very flavorful. The egushi had an interesting texture that's hard to describe, I guess I would compare it to a very finely minced spinach omelette .....it had a salty bouillon flavor, and not something I would have eaten on its own but when I mixed it in with the jollof rice the combination was incredibly delicious! I would definitely order both of those again and mix them together! The rice was also flavorful,. The entire meal with the chicken and everything mixed together had a little kick of heat and was just a really delicious savory flavor. I also got a side of plantains, but I don't recommend them, they didn't seem fresh and were tough and dried out.

I tried the egusi soup, it was a bit salty.. I also tried the peanut butter soup with chicken and the chicken was pretty tough. The fufu was amazing.
Very good west African food. The fufu, wache, and soups are on point and their chick is to die for. The suya is not great. Only three stars because they’re often out of key dishes, and you’re left having whatever else they’ve got in stock.
I’ve been a few times. My boyfriend and I loved the food. We got the chicken pepper soup with fufu, the egusi with beef and pepper soup with the chicken again our second time. My boyfriend has been back a few times without me. Unfortunately his last time being there Thursday 11/6 he got food poisoning. So we won’t be returning customers anymore. Also the service is ok. First time we came it was a male serving. Second time we came with our kids (group of 5) the lady serving seemed to be annoyed with our bigger group.

I wouldn’t really consider this a true buffet. buffets I been to allow unlimited servings, but here you’re charged for a second round , even if it’s just a small amount. I could literally go back for one piece of chicken and be charged $10 because it counts as a “second serving.” For the quality of the food, it felt overpriced. I paid $93, it wasn’t worth it. I’d rate the food about a 6/10. On a positive note, the music was good and the waiter was friendly and handsome 😉 The atmosphere was decent, but the food just didn’t live up to the price.
I haven't had jollof rice and beef stew in a few months from Yalleys African Restaurant in awhile which I love. I decided to order some last night around 8pm and was disappointed the rice was hard like it was the scraps left at the bottom of the pan and the beef was a bit over cooked. This the second time that's happen when I ordered in the evening.
Let me start off by saying the food was good. Just not $20 good. Lots of nitpicks that just disappointed me. The restaurant was not air conditioned. One of the menus didn't have all of the entrees listed. The server was not very knowledgeable about their offerings, or at least a little confusing as she asked for our orders. My poor brother had to re-order twice because they were out of what he wanted. When my mother ordered a plate of plantains, the server misinterpreted and brought us 4 plates. I did not realize the bullet points for my order were side options, I thought they all came with the dish, and was disappointed by a tiny garden salad - sans dressing, and three small cubes of beef. All small things, but a lot of them added up. At the end I will reiterate, the food was good! If this was a small hole-in-the-wall place with $13-$15 meals I'd have probably overlooked most of the small things, but I expected better I suppose, and was disappointed in the end.
Not sure about the other food, but I door dashed egusi soup from here and unfortunately would not recommend. I’m not sure if authentic ingredients are inaccessible, but it lacked the depth of flavor that African cuisine is know for. It was missing many key ingredients and tasted like spinach and collard greens with a little vinegar. I was very disappointed. Only thing that I appreciated was the portion size.
I didn’t want to leave this review because i have had so many great experiences here. But today took the cake. After supporting this place for so long and the fluctuation in their prices from visit to visit we still came and i brought friends and family here. Today after a debate with my husband about coming and convincing him to come again even with the prices increasing we finally came. I ordered the exact same thing that i order every time. Buffalo jollof rice with tilapia and it comes with a little salad. Today it seemed like it was reheated and not fresh at all. The rice was very sticky texture and the fish tasted old. I asked the owner i assume the man that’s always there if they could fix another one for me or just charge me for the rice and salad. Even though the rice was not got i would pick on it and try to eat it. He stated he couldn’t and i had to take it how it was and pay for it or buy a whole new meal but i would have to pay for them both. He insisted that it was fresh but sat in a warmer to stay heated . It was visibly not fresh or not even attempted to make it fresh. The red sauce that’s on it was soaked into the fish which is normally not like that. He went back and forth with me saying i could get a different fish but i had to pay for everything and he wasn’t going to compensate me. The amount of times i have come into this place to give my money and support them this is what they do. I am very disappointed and felt the need to let it be known. This place has went up on their prices numerous of times and they charge differently each time we still stuck it out but this was definitely the final straw. Yes it’s a small business but satisfying the customer is what small businesses need to try to work on more to stay in business. This is not a chain and with that type of mindset you will not prosper. I posted photos but wish i could post the video i took to show the consistency of the food. I will find a way to post the video on some platform.

Ordered takeout Jollof. Got there way later than expected. Yes that was my fault. When I arrived there was a plate of jollof on a table with no one sitting there. The two people who work there looked at each other after realizing what i requested looked at the plate on the empty table. The man tells me, “give me 4 minutes” and tells the woman to grab that plate. She brings the plate back while he is preparing my food. Due to the timing of all of this when he handed me my food I simply asked, “this isn’t the food from that plate right?” he says, “why would you ask me that?” and attempts to laugh it off. I ask again he tells me thats not a good question and never answers it. I did not eat the food I gave away to someone (i told them the situation as well). If the answer was no I feel like you could have just said, “No. why would you ask me that?” but instead you tried to dance around the question and refuse to answer leaving me to believe the answer is yes.
Visited a few weeks ago with friends. Service was extremely slow and staff very unprofessional. We were told to sit and someone will be with us the lady proceeded to grab her lunch and sit down and eat while we waiting for someone for about 15 mins. We tried to order drinks we were told they aren’t making any of that we can only get shots. We had questions about the menu no one ever came to check on us we had to stop someone when they were bringing out another tables food. I ordered the pepper goat soup not spicy, no flavor. My friend ordered the chicken pepper soup. The soup had a chicken carcass in it no meat at all. When we asked about it we were told “this is African chicken”. I’ve been to Africa before and never seen a chicken with no meat on it. My other friend ordered turkey tails with Jollof rice. No flavor the rice smelled horrible. If this is your representation of Ghana or “Africa” you need to rethink and train your staff properly.
My Uber eats order was highly disappointing. There seems to be very little to no quality control. My chicken pepper soup was full of raw "boiled" chicken the one eatable piece had no flavor. The pepper soup was literally just raw chicken and broth, not like other African restaurants with potatos, peppers etc. $30 down the drain. I was given a $5 credit instead of a full refund. Yikes. Will not order from this establishment again. Update: In response to the owner's comment, this was ordered through my husband's account. The order didn't come from outer space, they clearly recognized the chicken. Also, the chicken is visibly raw. Their response sounds like poor excuses from a business that doesn't want to accept accountability. You can not convince me that raw or hard unseasoned chicken is cultural.

First and foremost, I generally don't write reviews on places I eat even if they're bad because sometimes people make mistakes. We're human. However, my experience with this restaurant on Friday, January 9th between 4:30pm to 5:55pm requires one. Below is what happened: I'm in this area to celebrate my mother's birthday and took her to Niagara Falls. After touring it, she was craving African food so we decided to preorder it and then drove over to Buffalo to pick it up. She ordered pepper soup and jollof rice. I ordered fufu and egusi soup. Pickup was a breeze despite the 40 minute drive. We arrived, I waited for ~2 mins and was handed our food. No cutlery was provided, but that was a minor issue compared to what came next. When I had one bite of the soup, I could immediately taste that it was soured. Even as I write this, my stomach is fighting to keep down the two bites I had (took a second bite to be sure). I called the restaurant immediately to notify them and to ask for a refund for the soup and the fufu. The woman I spoke to said, "That's how we make the soup," "This is how it's done in Ghana," and "I don't have time for this." The last one is an insane thing to say to someone that informed you they just had spoilt food from your restaurant. I didn't even continue the conversation after hearing that nonsense. I hung up, I'm writing this review, and I'll consider escalating depending on whether my symptoms get worse. For now, I'll go baptize my stomach with ginger ale and hope that I don't vomit tonight. Anyways, that's my experience. Avoid the soups. The jollof rice was fine. I don't know the name of the woman who picked up, but if you never have to deal with her it's a sign that God is fighting for you in 2026. Good luck and God bless.
This was the worse experience since moving to Buffalo! I got there and the lady who came out seemed upset and uninterested. I said hello as if to gesture that she has a guest. She didn’t even look up, just mumbled hello and then asked me if I was picking up an order. I told her no, and that I tried to call but the line was busy. The look of the place is nasty and dreadful. The buffet style food was cold, dry, and lacked seasoning. As a Liberian/Ghanaian, I will never step foot there again.
