We booked for a treat for my mums birthday and we weren’t disappointed! The choice of 3 menus for vegan, vegetarian & meat was amazing and you could mix and match so we all tried a bit of each others. The vegan afternoon tea was just as inventive and tasty as all the others which was so nice to have good quality choices like this! Staff were busy but lovely and surprised my mum with a card & free gin for her birthday which went down well! Would definitely come again!

The Harbour Loft did it again. Mind blowing flavours and great service. Everytime I come to Cornwall, afternoon tea followed by stroll around St Michael's Mount is a must.

Absolutely fantastic!!! My husband and I are on our honeymoon and we have gone to high end afternoon tea in London that cost three times price and this place is better!! The service is outstanding!! Our server was responsive, kind, warm, and always helpful. Whenever we need more tea or cream she was instantaly there with more. She asked multiple times if we needed anything and was very attentive to our table. The cream is amazing, the tea selection is wonderful, the atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful. Our scones were warm and light, the serving size of everything was great. The sandwiches and little starters were outstanding! If we could give this place more stars we would!!

The best cream tea in my life. Scones have best balance. Staffs are so friendly and kindly. Must go.

Absolutely outstanding afternoon tea experience, superior to that of the Langham in London! We were extremely impressed with the quality of the food and attentiveness of the service. At no point was it difficult to get someone's attention for some more tea, clotted cream, or jam. The food was marvelous both in quality and presentation. Most ingredients were local and their origins outlined on a watercolour on the menu. The scones were given to us warm and delightfully light in comparison to the usual. The savories at the beginning were artful in presentation and fascinating in flavour. I would recommend seeking this out if you are in the area!

We spontaneously came in for afternoon tea on a weekday, enticed by the brilliant and thoughtful vegetarian menu. Best veggie afternoon tea we both have had! Someone has really sat down and thought about crafting a good menu here rather than taking out the meat/fish options and slapping on a second cheese sandwich. The savouries were incredible (we scoured the Mount shops afterwards for the seaweed crackers, sadly unsuccessfully), 4 different vegetarian sandwiches, a lovely selection of sweets and two large scones each. Our favourites were the wild garlic, celeriac and sea weed crisp, the tartlet with pea and sea vegetables, the fennel pollen egg mayo and Davidstow cheddar + wild garlic sandwiches. The sour lemon and raspberry ripple chiffon was to die for 😍 We had two pots of tea for two as well, the second pot included free of charge; left full to bursting and very satisfied.

I really appreciate that they have a vegan afternoon tea and cream tea option. We had the vegan cream tea and the scones were excellent, they replenished cream, jam, milk etc if needed at no extra cost. Very reasonably priced considering it’s a more upscale place. The staff were lovely.

Serves a very refreshing tea with scones, plus the jam and cream. The scones were top notch. Nice stop in after visiting St Michael's Mount. Friendly staff , very good service and a well appointed venue.

Amazing shared platter with local ham, cheddar, pickled fennel, smoked mackerel, celeriac salad, chutney and home-baked bread. Everything absolutely delicious!!! Chutney to die for!!! Slightly on the expensive side but it was worth it. They were very busy and we had to queue for about 10 minutes. Food arrived very swiftly though which was great.

Gluten free afternoon tea was a delight! I loved being able to sample all of the teas with my tiny sandwiches. It was wonderful to have a proper gluten free scone with all the trimmings. An excellent spot for a celiac/coeliac or a mixed group.

The sharing platter is incredible; best ploughman’s ever. Giant blocks of cheese, thick sliced ham, soft smoked mackerel and crisp greens. Skin on chips were awesome too. We struggled to finish the two dishes between us, and we were starving! Absolute bargain

Would highly recommend. With one of our party being dairy-free and nut-free the staff were fantastic at catering for the special dietary options! Also, the bubbles from a local vineyard and very nice. Great to have a local business serving English sparkling wine! Only negative is like most places these days there are not enough staff and can take a little while to get drinks. Overall a great experience and definitely worth a visit.

My partner and I were there this week for an afternoon tea. We are both gluten and dairy free and we got in touch in advance to see if they could cater for both, which they confirmed. I've had afternoon teas in other places but this one was the best by far! They had it all ready for our booking time with a splendid and delicious combination of savoury and sweet. The highlights for me were the courgette slice with fish and pickles on top which was to die for; the prawn sandwich that took me straight to the beach and the sea; and the strawberry shortbread and strawberry pâte de fruits which were an explosion of flavour in my mouth! Of course we also tried their Tregothnan tea: Earl Grey was very aromatic and the Afternoon tea was delicate. The staff were knowledgeable and professional. A superb afternoon!

The most incredible afternoon tea for a large group of 7. The service was impeccable with the staff discreetly dealing with dietary requirements and hovering just close enough to be able to get their attention, but far enough away to not feel bothered by them. We weren't rushed at all and thoroughly enjoyed the most delicious selection of savoury and sweet treats. I cannot recommend this place more highly. The cost of the Afternoon Tea is absolutely justified by the quality of food, presentation, atmosphere and service. Thank you.

When we saw that this place did a dairy-free cream tea we knew we had to have one! Delicious food, loose leaf tea, and a lovely clean and tidy space. Would highly recommend!

Saw the afternoon tea advertised on St Michaela Mount Visitor website and did a bit of research. Came highly recommended for an afternoon tea in Cornwall. Overall we found it the best afternoon tea we’ve had in the UK to date for the following reasons: - more inventive sandwich toppings, not the usual standard - scones plain but fluffy, light - bites, flavoursome little bites - vegetarian options easy to ask for when ordering and tasty - ingredients (down to the tea and sparkling wine) sourced locally, much of it from the Mount and you can see on a map where things are from - sweets were ‘t too large as they usually are and no overbearing in their sweetness Service was great, atmosphere nice and amount of food just right (you won’t feel stuffed at the end). Highly recommend at least for foodies that appreciate locally sourced ingredients, a slight twist on the standard British afternoon tea and less sugar intake.

We had the afternoon tea during the late lunch hour. Awesome selection, very good price and a lot of food. They have a vegetarian selection for afternoon tea as well as a kids selection. We tried both and we highly highly recommend this place. Much cheaper than most places in London and better quality.

A five star experience. The most delicious afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings served by lovely friendly people. The food was sublime and the service exemplary. I would definitely book again. Well done St Michael's Mount.

I ordered a Cornish Cream Tea with earl grey tea. It took around 25 minutes for it to arrive. When ordering I was asked if I wanted milk with the tea. When it came it didn’t have the milk and I had to wait another 5 mins for that to arrive. The scones still hadn’t arrived and I had to ask for them. The waitresses were friendly enough but I’m afraid that’s too long to wait and then have to ask for 2 scones, jam and cream. It’s only got to be put on a plate. It felt like those ordering the afternoon tea were given priority as some of them came in after me and got served before me. The scones were lovely, soft inside, but a little on the small side. That said I enjoyed them very much, but my experience was spoiled by the long wait.

Latte, tea and 2 Seasonal Salads . Apart from the table being a bit sticky the food was excellent. Manor House figs, Cornish blue cheese and walnuts with seasonal leaves, blue cheese dressing and freshly baked brown bread. Absolutely delicious. Lots of friendly staff and large airy eating area.

Cream Tea for anyone - great selection of teas! Dont be put off by the menu board at the front you can just have tea not just the £10 cream tea! In the end what seemed a little high price was actually good value! 👍

Have been here several times and enjoyed food. Today had the brill special, see menu board photo for description. More a nouvelle cuisine presentation than a hearty meal but the quality more than made up for lack of quantity. Price ok but if you wanted bangers chips and beans you probably would not agree.

We came here for some seafood and seafood is what we got. Was pretty nice. We took a risk bringing our young children but they had a buger on the menu so we were just fine. The kids also decided that the flies buzzing around the restaurant was the entertainment...I guess in a way they weren't wrong.

Really nice ice cream. Would recommend the Strawberry and Clotted cream and the honeycomb. Also have passion fruit sorbet, yum. Hot chocolate is weak though. Please look to Butler's Chocolate Cafe to change this

Great ice cream, but waited forever for a painfully slow member of staff to take the order, take payment and scoop out some ice cream into a cup...

We walked over to the Harbour Loft for a cream tea. The cream tea was nice but for the price we were expecting a little bit larger. The restaurant is very nice and has a lovely atmosphere. The afternoon tea selections coming out looked fantastic so we'd try them next time. The coffee was fantastic!

Went for the afternoon tea; the sandwiches were delicious, the desserts were, in our opinion, not very nice. The scones, cream and jam were nice but all in all we found the £37.50pp price tag excessive for what we got. The staff were fab, smiley, attentive and helpful. Although full, the restaurant lacked any buzz of atmosphere.

Cornish cream tea Earl Grey blue cornflower £11.50 The tea is excellent, if let down by the teapot being heavy iron and has lost the heat of the tea, making it serve only warm. One suspects that the pot wasn't warmed. Timer is a nice touch and made for perfectly brewed for my taste, although likely to be underbrewed for many. Scones are rather disappointing, too dry in texture. Jam is fine, but slightly lacking. Cream is good with an appropriate portion for the two scones.

M

Can't make a cappacino even after having great training The scones are great The prices are far to expensive £1.70 for a can of coke

G
Gabriel Bioinginer

Nice place for an afternoon tea, but the staff is far too loud setting up new tables, while completely ignoring the customers. Scones came after the tea was already cold 😂

A
Amanda Solway

Very overpriced - almost £2 for a can of coke. Orange juice not very nice and £1.30 for a small carton. Scones not as nice as Trelissick. Staff were very pleasant though.

J
Johannes Rueter

Could be a nice place but they need to work on their service. They seem to be running out of food early and are not indicating that fact customers, who have to queue for quite a while before they are told by the staff.

The staff were extremely friendly and the atmosphere was lovely. However, the entire expeirence was let down by the quality and price. We had the afternoon tea, which wasapprox £65 for 2 people. Already very very expensive, I was expecting amazing and it just wasn't. Per person, you recieved a piece of seaweed with a rasprerry on it (vegetarian) or a piece of lettuce with a sliver of fish and a rasprerry on it (ordinary), a tiny tarlet thing, 4 small finger sandwiches, 2 sconees with jam and cream, 3 small cakes/sweets, and one tiny hot drink. The sandwiches were not great and the sconnes rather dry. There was nothing wrong with the rest of the food, just it was trying a bit too hard. The sconnes were the real let down. Either it needs to be a lot cheaper - i.e. £10-15 per person or the quality needs a vast improvement. As it stands, avoid.

No alcohol without buying food! Just another way to get more of your money!! Of course none of the low value food counts as a 'meal'. Got given a boiling hot glass to put my cold drink into.. no other choices of glasses. Not friendly staff

We walked in at 1:15 on a very quiet day with 4 members of staff. We were only allowed cream teas as we hadn’t booked which is fair enough but then the service was shocking. We got sat down at a table and then told somebody would come to take our order. Nobody came back to us we went to the bar and asked a waitress she said she would be with us in a moment. I’m assuming what was the manager shouted over to her no I will go in a minute. He then went to another table so a different waitress came to us. We ordered 3 cream teas. We then had to wait another 10 minutes for a black coffee and 2 pots of tea. No sign of the scones. Several other drinks and food came out and were served to other tables. Again we had to ask where the scones were as we had now finished drinks. Several other tables that were being served the afternoon got served before us. We were in there over an hour for 3 cream teas. Service was slow and what I’m assuming was the managed was extremely rude and abrupt to both visitors and staff. Would not recommend and would not say the money was worth the food. The scones were lovely but cold and the drinks there was enough for one cup of tea each in the pot. We had to ask for the food the drinks and the bill.

The worst cream tea I've had in my life! Between us, we paid £65, plus £4.50 to park and £11.20 for return boat tickets, so a total of £80+ for the privilege of having 4 terrible dry quarter sandwiches, one was not even trimmed, and 5 x 10 penny sized sweet and salty canapés. 2 x dry and cold scones. The only view was roofs. When we booked, the National Trust website seemed to indicate the island was included in the price, but when we tried to go up to the castle, we were told to go down the hill and pay another £30 and come back again. At this point, we had quite enough disappointment and left. It was a very expensive and terrible experience! I will never pre-book a National Trust property again.
