If you’re in POMONA this is a spot you must stop by! The ambiance and food is everything.Beautiful Mexican Cuisine and food. If you like and love authentic Mexican food this is the closest you will find to homemade food. The service was amazing the wait can be a little bit but it’s worth the wait. The servings are pretty good. They also have Aguas Frescas, Cafe de olla, ice coffees frappes, Alcoholic Beverages and so much more! The menu is lovely from breakfast to brunch with mimosas, dinner! They have everything make sure to check them out!

This place is sooooooooo good. Super authentic. Margaritas are strong. Tacos are tasty. I had chicken and carnitas. The quesadillas are corn tortillas and deep fried. The salsas are delicious.

Highly recommend it. Great food and service. Definitely needed a restaurant like this out here. Please give it a second chance if not happy the first time… just saying because some of the reviews.

Food was so good and the service was great. There is a wait, but that says a lot about the food. Very nice establishment and a great environment. I will return to try more. Thank you Norma for the wonderful service.

La Casa de la Abuela was amazing! The food was delicious and the service was just as great. Norma took such good care of us — she was friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. Highly recommend! Best chilaquiles I’ve ever had!

When I have the opportunity to visit a restaurant for the first time, I almost always check its reviews. This time, I took the time to visit and see if the reviews were true. And the reality is quite the opposite. From the moment we arrived, the service was incredibly friendly, the place is beautifully decorated, and there's ample parking. As for the food, I can say it was excellent: delicious, warm, freshly made yellow corn tortillas and wonderful refried beans. If I had to rate what I ate from 1 to 10, I'd say it was a 9; 10 is perfect. Thank you for your hospitality, Carlos and all his colleagues. I'll be back soon, I promise!

Casa de la Abuela never disappoints. We are becoming regulars and today we came for Taco Tuesday. The tacos were made with delicious homemade tortillas. The carnitas and suadero were 10/10. And the 4 different salsas were spicy, sabroso, and muy bueno! Our server Carminia was great! She was friendly, attentive, and quick !

Wasn't expecting much since I consider myself an above average Mexican food cook... this place is literally like eating at my abuelita's house. Ordered the chips and mole (perfect amount of sweetness with great flavor), i devoured the steak in its own juice Jalisco style, my son raved about the chicken tinga gordita saying he would come back just for that. Finally, my daughter got the fish tacos and finished them in no time. My pet peeve is paying for Mexican food I can make better at home... this place is well worth paying for imho

Honestly was very hesitant about this place cause I seen photos an it looked very good an cool, sooo I never went until recently an I got to say, being here was with the hype but let me start by saying its alot smaller than it looks, dont like that the space is kinda small an your kinda close to others, an the tables are small... but overall the service was very great, guy was very kind an hooked it up won't say names cause wouldn't want to throw anyone under the bus, but the drinks were fire!!! An the flautas an queso con chorizo dip was fire to start off , had a few drinks so end up getting my food to go but even when I rewarmed my food up when I got home it was fire, salsas were fire, wish I could have tryed more food here, but most likely will come again an try more items on the menu

I give this restaurant a 5 star! I love everything I have tried so far! The food is very authentic, the handmade tortillas is extremely a plus especially with their delicious menudo they have everyday! I've been here 4 times, the very first time was on their soft opening day. Its totally understandable that they may have tooken a little longer to serve and bring our food to the table because it takes time to adjust. Other than that, the other days we've been seated right away and the food has came out fast as well. I really recommend this place, they have many different dishes to try, and their drinks beginning from the variety of agua frescas to their cold coffees, fraps, mazapan and mixed drinks are amazing!

Okay, now I'm going to share another place I saw on TikTok. This Mexican restaurant, Jalisco style, stands out for its variety of food from different Mexican reaions and states, such as Oaxacan Mole Negro, Tlayudas, Sopes, and Gorditas from Guerrero or the Tierra Caliente reaion, amonc others. The Chilaquiles with Mole Negro are definitely the signature dish of this place; I recommend them with cecina (cured beef). A very important detail for a Mexican palate is the damn salsa, and this is where vou fall in love with the flavor. They prepare three different ones, but the ones that captivated me were only two: the red one made with chile de arbol and sesame seeds and the one with roasted tomatoes... wow, spicy but delicious. The green one wasn't to my liking, but it's good. I also recommend the Dubai Crepes. And what is Dubai Chocolate?--.. " Dubai chocolate oriainated in Dubai in 2021 from British-Egyptian entrepreneur Sarah Hamouda's pregnancy cravings for Middle Eastern sweets like knafeh, leadina her to create the viral "Can't Get Knafeh of It" bar with pistachio cream, tahini kataifi pastry, and milk chocolate, exploding globally in 2024 via social media and inspiring imitations worldwide. One more thing ... Prices are worth it, yes, for example Mole Negro Dish... ("Black Mole") is Oaxaca, Mexico's most iconic, complex sauce known for its deep, dark color and rich, lavered flavor from over 30 ingredients including charred chiles mulato, pasilla, chilhuacle) nuts, seeds, spices cinnamon, clove), fruits raisins, plantain), and chocolate, creating a smoky sweet, savory, and slightly spicy profile. I really like the atmosphere at La casa de la abuela in Pomona. Our server Nayeli was very friendly and patience when she was taking our order. Always smiling and with really good attitude. Really good service. The chilaquiles with birria are bomb! I will go back to try more food. And don’t forget the café de la abuela (de olla). Overall very good experience . 10/10 👌🏼for desert fresas Dubai… 🍓

It's not a place where you wanna go.\n To have a nice quiet dinner. It's very loud, otherwise everything else was good. The only thing that I would say that wasn't too good is the wait time for your food? We waited. At least.. 25 minutes.

We visited La Casa de la Abuela and loved it. I ordered the pozole and it was incredibly delicious – big pieces of hominy and a super flavorful broth, an easy 10/10. My husband had the beef stew and the meat was very soft and tender, with seasoning that was really rich and tasty. Highly recommend this spot! I also LOVE how beautiful 😍 they have their decoration specially because it’s pink 😍!!

Very colorful aesthetic, great for photo ops. The food was delicious, you get what is listed on the menu which is very traditional Mexican cuisine. Service was friendly and attentive, they kept checking in and were happy to answer our questions. I ordered the Papa de la Abuela with carnitas, and got so full I couldn't finish it. Would definitely be coming back to try more food with more people. There was tons of seating for all party sizes, with multiple rooms.

hands down the best chilaquiles I've had. the presentation was nice and it was delicious, carnitas chunks slightly crispy but very tender and flavorful. we also had the menudo which in my opinion needed just a bit more flavor but over all decent. my only issue was that the soda is in can or bottle they don't offer fountain drinks . oh and don't forget to try the blueberry tamale, it was soooo good 😋.

No idea why this place has 3 stars genuinely some of the best Mexican food I've ever had in my life. The ambiance is also so sick it's decorated so cool. It's more South American style than most Mexican places. Service was really good as well. Cannot beat those prices. $3 for DELICIOUS tacos AND they have different types of meats you can try. Salsa that came w the chips and salsa was different than the normal rojo and it was SO GOOD. Almost sweet

When celebrating people's birthday. Music is a little too loud. Other than that, the food was amazing. I had mole and chips, enchiladas Rojas and Flautas. The flavors and seasoning are on point. My family is from Oaxaca, so the mole is 10/10

We came on grand opening, so of course the wait on the food was long but we'll worth it! The agua frescas were bomb (we got pepino, fresa, horchata, & Mazapan Latte). My bf said that their chilaquiles from here are now his favorite! My friend loved their enchiladas de pollo. We finished with Dubai Crepa 10/10! They do have online wait list, which I recommend to use. We will definitely be coming back!

My family and I were here on 11/04 for the first time and the tacos were delicious. We returned on 11/11 and was disappointed. Tacos were swimming in a pool of grease, temperature taco was cold. Rhebpalima was a 5/ 10.

We Visited Saturday, December 6th 2025 around 10:30 am and surprisingly there was no wait at all Drinks: We had the Cafe de Abuela (Cafe de la olla) it was delicious no sugar or creamer needed! Girlfriend has Had the Mango margarita with tajin coated rim. Drink was very refreshing and tasty. However they were NOT generous with the alcohol at all. I don't even think there was any alcohol in it. Kiddos has the Agua de Pepino which were both delicious and very refreshing Entrée: I had the green chilaquiles topped with two over-easy eggs and a side of grilled steak, likely flank or skirt steak (carne asada) sitting on top of a thin bed of black beans. Girlfriend had the green birria chilaquiles with mole, a weird combination I know but really hit with the taste buds Service: They are really good at seating you and taking your order, but horrible at following up. They never came back to see what else we needed, more coffee, an extra drink. When they serve it's like they did it without the taking a thought as to what they were serving. A steak knife should always accompany a steak. Ambience: Cozy and vibrant indoor decorative scenery. They have bright pink neon sign mounted on a green, faux-plant wall that reads near restrooms that say "LA CASA DE LA ABUELA" perfect for photos. The main dining area had numerous hand-woven wicker pendant lights. Kinda loud but can still talk. It was someone's birthday and they played a Birthday song over the speaker and the waitresses came out to sing. Overall: An excellent choice for breakfast. Nice size portions. Will definitely be back.

I decided to go have lunch at this gorgeous place and the food was so delicious. The flavors are bursting in my mouth. Great service, what the server don't get to do cause he's too busy the busser make up for it with great attitude. The atmosphere is great but the music is s lil too loud for my liking but it might be a plus for others. Overall, great place to go and eat.

[2nd Visit.] Wait times are long and there's no parking with how busy the restaurant is you have to wait for parking spots to free up. Tacos are good Pastor is nice flavor Lengua is tender Asada is the only one I wouldn't recommend very bland. Flautaus are large crispy and loaded with toppings pork is less dry than the chicken but both good Chilaquiles are great got it with Carnitas very tender and tasty slight barn aftertaste though. [1st Visit]I see alot of low reviews talking about the wait time, the rude staff and bad food. I believe alot of it was attributed to the grand opening because I visited with my family and it wasn't nearly as bad as mentioned in those reviews. The food was good and much bigger portioned than expected. The wait time was about 10m for a party of 6. The decor was nice and our server Miguel was great he joked and had a good attitude. The only bad thing was we waited a little while for the check also we ended up paying 200$ so decide for yourself if that's too much for a party of 6.

We visited on a busy weekend and were pleasantly surprised when we were seated in just 15 minutes despite being quoted a 40-minute wait. Pro tip: don’t be discouraged by their estimated wait times! We were seated in the back area, which appears to be a sunroom-style extension of the restaurant. While the space itself was nice, it lacked the ambience of the main dining room. There was no music playing back there, so you could hear everyone’s conversations clearly, which made it feel less intimate and a bit awkward compared to the main restaurant where music creates a better atmosphere. We ordered the molcajete de la abuela with the all-meat option, and the portion size was incredibly generous, more than enough for two people to share. The dish itself was good, though we did need to request a spicy sauce to add some heat. They accommodated this without any issues. Our only concern was that our waitress seemed stretched thin managing her section. The service felt a bit slow at times, and you could tell she was doing her best to keep up with a packed dining room. It’s clear the restaurant could benefit from additional staff during peak hours. Despite the service hiccup and the quieter back room, the food quality was excellent, and we’ll definitely be returning to give La Casa De Abuela another try. Hopefully next time we’ll snag a table in the main dining area! Looking forward to exploring more of their menu.

Usually get sat under 5 minutes. Our first time visiting the server was a bit arrogant when we asked if their beans are cooked in lard since we are vegetarians. She explained that lard is healthy for the body. Later she changed her attitude which was a good thing. We have since returned several times because the food is yummy. The chilaquiles and tacos dorados with bean & cheese are yummy. I recommend to serve the dorado tacos in a bowl dish. It is hard to eat them in a salsa-looking plastic container. I wish they had more intentional veggie plates. Their sopes are good but the tamales need improving. There’s many menu items to choose from.

I was looking forward to this place but only to be disappointed. They took our name and num er of party then proceeded to forgot about us. Once created we waited for 15 min before anyone came and took a drink order . Food was mediocre at best. Totally disappointed. Food was salty. Tacos were good, the short ribs okay and mole dip is sweet but good . Medido not so much.

First of all we came in today specifically on taco Tuesday because we saw an advertisement saying that the Pomona location had tacos for two dollars each all day. The waiter told us that was incorrect. That was after 2 PM but that is not what the post said also, we ordered the chips and salsa. We heard the waiter ordered it on the Lil intercom that he had on we waited. Our food came still didn’t have the chips and salsa. We told him he said OK sorry about that. Chips and salsa. Still never came. There was a table next to us with three people two people got their food cleaned their whole plates. The third person still had not received their plate of food. They still tried charging us for the chips and salsa. We asked them to remove it. They went back and asked to cook of whomever if they made them for us they said yes whether they did or did not. We did not receive them. They were laughing while we were paying. It was not that busy however it appeared as if they were all just talking amongst themselves and enjoying their Tuesday the tacos that I got were pretty good, so I’m not going to bash the food, but the service was not that great at all and I think everyone should be on the same page when it comes to the specials that they’re offering for the day.

This place can be a hit or a miss. My first three visits were great, from the server being consistent with checking on my party and being friendly, to cleanliness of the establishment, to the food being really tasty. I wish I had nothing but good things to say but my 4th visit was the one that I can go on and on about everything that went wrong. I had a party of 15 and the server that was supposed to take care of us was not suitable, IMO, to take on big parties. It took about 10 min for him to take our drink order and another 10 to 15 min to bring our drinks. One of our waters had a full lime floating in the cup. 🤣 & when we told him about it he blamed it on the back of house staff. We waited for over 20 more minutes to get the server to come back around to take our order, BUT a party of 7 gets seated next to us and the server immediately takes their drink and food order… before us. Mind you, we waited for over 1.5 hrs to get seated, so you can imagine how ready we were to get served. Finally, the server comes back around and finally decides to take our food order. We’re already frustrated by then, but we make no fuzz, we were just awkwardly pretending everything was fine to not spoil my mom’s birthday lunch/dinner get together. In two different instances, one of the salsa bottles in the middle of the table explodes and shoots up to the ceiling, lol! The table next to us finishes their meals and we’re still waiting for our plates. 45 minutes later dishes start arriving, but some of the kids meals didn’t come out. We had to remind the server, he probably didn’t write it down on his note pad. I ordered my usual, which is a menudo bowl, the hominy felt like it needed more cooking time and the pata was also undercooked, it’s supposed to fall off the bone but instead it was hard even as I tried to pull pieces off. Once we finished eating, I mentioned to the server that it was my mother’s bday, he advised me that they can bring out a dessert and that it would be added to our bill, no problem. It took about 20 minutes, which I think in part was due to him getting some staff members to gather up to sing to my mom. Finally everything is done and now we’re waiting for our bill, the server walked around us for ever but wouldn’t bring our bill. At one point he comes back to clear out some plates and my mom mentions to him that he took our order after a party that had gotten there way after us and this server gets combative with a snarky attitude and says, “Well you had a big party so it would have taken just as long!” Lol I’m baffled by then, my mom mentions that we had family come from far and the server asks where some of us were from, my cousins husbands answers, “From Carson/Wilmington” and the server responds, “oh that’s were jente malandrina comes from.” 😱😭🤣 WTH?! I don’t know what was up with him. Finally, he brings our check and the gratuity came out to almost 100$ but I don’t think the service merit that amount. A simple acknowledgment, to let us know he was busy, a simple apology after his mistakes would have been acceptable, but his condescending attitude and snarky remarks were not it. I was embarrassed by the end, I had to let him and the manager know. She was polite and embarrassed as well. She apologized for our experience and voided the gratuity. We still left him a $35-$40 tip.

Went there today and the wait time wasn't to bad but we got our seat my wife was wearing my work jacket that had the US flag sewn in it and as soon the waiter saw it and got our drink order and told the table behinds sorry we were busy but now we are not anymore. we waited 20mins before he decided come and get our food order. While he attened other tables before servicing us. Our waiter walked by us over a dozen times look over at us and just walked away food is good but to be discriminated like This not cool its not our fault that my work put the US flag on our uniform jacket but I know we won't be back to the spot thank you for show your true colors of how you feel to be triggered over a flag that is the country your working in. I'm pround to be an American for its given me all the opportunity in my life.

I saw this place on TikTok and wanted to take my mom for dinner. It was pretty crowded and they told us 45 minutes for a table. It was an hour to get a table, and another hour to get our food! all the other guest were all looking around like,"why does no other table have food??" No one was being served and everyone looked annoyed. I got the torta ahogada(sauce covered sandwich).the long wait made me lose my appetite. It was decent, but the service was embarrassingly horrible. The server never checked on us, never cleared our plates, never refilled our waters or offered us dessert. Two hours AND horrible service? Sorry Abuela, ill never go to your casa again

I went recently. Terrible customer service -RUDE. Night and Day compared to the last time I went. So sad. Love the decor. The food was good. They have a lot of menu options. I would say they have a few more traditional dishes like carne en su jugo, tinga, nopales, to name a few. The service was excellent. We'll be going back to try other dishes. We had: Cafe de olla 10/10 Agua de pepino 10/10 Sope de tinga 7/10 Tamale de puerco 8/10 Taquito de frijoles y queso 8/10 Chilaquiles de mole 8/10 -they were a little too sweet but they were good!

Our waiting time was so long, 30 mnts for a table and 1 hr or something to get your food at the table. Not courtesy chips, my rice was hard and I ask if a can get coffee refill and they said yes, but it will be extra $1, to get that 🤭. The place looks nice, comfortable and cute.

I would never go back to this place; it's a waste of money. The food isn't even good. We ordered three different dishes, and none of them tasted good. The meat was super greasy and flavorless, and the beans were watery; just looking at them made you not want to try them. The decor and how clean the place looks make you think it will be a good option for a meal, but no, it's completely the opposite. Please, this is a completely honest review from someone who loves Mexican food.

Where should I start? We came on Sunday at 4 p.m., and the hostess informed us that we would have to wait 20 to 40 minutes. Since I wasn't hungry, I didn't mind the delay. About forty-five minutes later, they called us, we sat down, and a waitress took our drink order. No water was provided, and the beverages waited ten minutes to arrive. We were grateful that the guacamole and chips we ordered arrived quickly because it took an additional forty-five minutes for us to receive our warm meal. My son ordered a waffle, but it never arrived, so I had to flag down a server to check on the status of his order. When she asked the kitchen they said they would make the waffle right then. That was my biggest complaint with them. As I watch the waffle maker, it takes another ten minutes for someone to go pour batter into it, and then another fifteen minutes for them to bring it to him. There is no rice and beans with simple dishes like tacos and enchiladas you need to order that on the side. I have no complaints on the food because the meal was ggod, but I believe that the timing and service may be improved. My husband ordered a Moscow Mule and when he tasted it he was like this ain't vodka. When we asked the waitress to check what was in the drink she said We don't have a liquor license, but it has agave. They have a short menu of what I assume are alcoholic beverages, so I was a little perplexed when she said they dont have a liquor license yet so if you do want a margarita or lemon drop I'd definitely clarify that it actually has alcohol. Was it worth the wait if you are very hungry no if you can be patient and wait about 45 min plus an added 45 minutes to eat that's your call

Seen this place on Tik Tok and was really excited to try a New Mexican restaurant without having to drive 20 miles out of my way. So we walk in and the concierge (whom really looks like she hates her job by the way) sits us at a lopsided table. We move to another lopsided table where we finally settle on a third table that was finally stable. We order chips and salsa which are not complimentary (was $5) the chips are cut into tiny 1 inch squares. You couldn’t dip your chip in the salsa with out sticking your thumb in there too. We’re looking at the menu which is not people friendly. What I mean is, the name of the food is listed in name only. Says the meat in contains and that’s it. Does not specify if it contains cheese, onion, cilantro, lettuce, guacamole etc. For example if you order a taco, it just says taco with pork. Doesn’t specify if it’s a street taco, crunchy taco or what’s in it. And no pics what so ever. So a male waiter comes to take our order which my husband hates by the way, they’re just not as attentive as women are (it’s just a fact) and by the way, there are NO combos here. Everything is sold separately. So if you want beans and rice on the side, you have to tell them. So we place our order which they get wrong, wasn’t a big deal. We ate and didn’t complain. Now don’t get me wrong, the food is great! But here is where MY huge issue was. We pay our bill and I go to use the restroom, which is beautiful by the way! I come out of the stall when another woman comes out at the same time, she was already in there before I even entered, a worker. While I’m washing my hands with Soap, the woman turns on the water sticks her fingers in it then drys her hands, NO SOAP 😳 Make of it what you will. But for ME, I will not be returning. Also, NO soda refills since it comes in a bottle or can only.

The wait started at 20 mins. I seen three tables were not being used. 5 mins later host came back, and said. 5 mins your table will be ready in 10 mins. The host got my order short. I was missing food. I was charge for a refill on ice tea. We asked for chips and salsa. Normally is free any where else. But wanted to charge us. It seem the staff is not experienced enough, and trying to get you for any penny they can. Plus the food was too salty. Not visiting this place again. At least they give you plenty of coffee.

I was excited to try out this new restaurant. From the beginning our expectations were crushed with so many Issues. However pricing was okay but you don't get what you would expect for a Mexican restaurant such as; 1.) Chips and salas, not included when you sit down. It costs $5.00 Whhhattt and $8.00 if you want guacamole. Waiter said It's consider an appetizer what a big crock something we are not used to when sitting down at a Mexican restaurant. However, I do understand if you want to guacamole that would be a separate cost but not for chips and salsa!! *Strike one" One family member, ( btw 3 of us. ) Ordered a enchilada plate comes with only (3) enchiladas. And to our surprise" , no rice or beans included!!! The waiter said, if you want rice and beans, you have to buy that separately. So, all plates are ala carte. which is ridiculous and not acceptable. No combo plates with Rice and bean!!! It's considered a separate cost "strike two. " Our drinks, we had 2 ice waters, and ICE TEA" both warm, with absolutely no ice. Even though we asked for ice water and ice tea!! Hellooo. Not to mention, the ice tea cost $6.00!! I wouldn't be so upset except it came warm no ICE!!! Awful. You, have to pay for every little thing, we we're, afraid they're going to charge us for the ice we needed and requested. Strike three! The 2nd family member, ordered a lengua taco and asada taco with rice and beans, and again!!charged separatly for the rice and beans!!! The lengua taco actually cost $4.00. without rice and beans and cost less than my" lukewarm" iced tea. Ripoff ($8.00) 3rd family member (me)My meal was" Cocido De res, and I was very upset because it wasn't cooked properly, absolutely horrible, because of the raw hard potatoes, carrots, and squash, the skin of the squash was so tough I couldn't even bite into it to eat it. So the veggies were under cooked and hard. I let the waiter know he said we'll take care of it but , when the Bill came, they never offer a small discount. I couldn't eat the soup. *If I have to say something good , is the homemade corn tortillas and the lengua tacos. That's almost nothing.... " considering we ordered enchilada plate paid separate for rice and beans, taco plate, paid separate for rice and beans. My Cocido de res did not come with the side of rice. And our bill came to $68.00!!! nope!!! I can't recommend this place. Just a side note: when I asked The waiter, why no rice and beans? or why do you charge for salsa and chips? he said because we're not a taco stand we're an authentic Mexican restaurant. Huh, by no means are they an authentic Mexican restaurant, they're just a nitpicking Penny pitching restaurant that charges a price for every little thing you want. And it's not even elegant everything on display is plastic on the inside. So in my opinion a bad experience.

I was really excited to visit this restaurant—the setup is absolutely beautiful and very inviting. Unfortunately, our experience with customer service did not meet expectations, especially considering the prices. Our waitress was not very attentive; it took about 15 minutes to receive our drinks and another 15 minutes before she returned to take our order. Once placed, our food took roughly 45 minutes to arrive. The staff seemed unorganized and overwhelmed, which affected the overall dining experience. When the food arrived, the menudo lacked flavor, and we had to ask for basic seasonings like salt and pepper. The hominy was also disappointing. There are smaller restaurants in Pomona that serve much more flavorful menudo at a fraction of the price. While the restaurant’s atmosphere is impressive, the quality of service and food unfortunately did not reflect the same level of care. I truly hope management addresses these issues because this place has great potential if the service and food quality can match its beautiful setting.
