Monze was so polite and courteous and attentive throughout the whole service from start to finish! I went with my mother, so I went ahead and asked for any recommendations on the appetizers and then since I wanted a sushi roll as well I asked for her opinion she then guided me and my mom as well! I ordered as an appetizer the white fish ahi style which let me tell you it did not disappoint very fresh texture perfect and the taste was very very good. Make sure that you order ponzu sauce on the side as well as Sriracha those are great additions to anything Aji style my mom ordered the Caesar salmon salad, which was delicious by the way, very very filling!! Lots of taste!! And for my entrée, I ordered the spicy salmon roll tempura style. It was very good. Shout out to our server Monze! Will definitely be coming back to try their steaks!

I loved the ambience at this place. The music was so good, it really set the mood. I enjoyed it so much that I went two days in a row. My favorites were the duck gyozas, edamame, California roll with added cream cheese, the short rib, and the bread pudding for dessert 🍨. The drink with mezcal was also a hit. What really stood out was the service. Everyone, from the hostess to the waitresses and waiters, were incredibly sweet and attentive. Overall, such a great experience.

I’ve been loving Mujinzo! their minimalistic, upscale atmosphere makes it such a standout spot. The food is consistently delicious, and I really appreciate how receptive they are to feedback. On my first visit a few weeks ago, I completely fell in love with their oysters and fresh seafood. I recently went back to try their lunch menu, and I was even more impressed. This is definitely a spot I’ll be returning to again and again!

First off this is a great place to dine in. A lot of people are under the assumption that this is a remodel of coast. It is not. Mujinzo is a great and fresh destination to enjoy really fresh sushi. The price is to be expected if you enjoy finer sushi than your average place in McAllen. That being said, service was phenomenal. I’d ask for Rene. Great guy, service checks were on point, and knew the menu in and out. The sushi chefs put in work with the plating and presentation. Great date night. Average price is gonna be $100 plus with a party of two. But the experience was amazing. Definitely coming back for more!

If yall are looking for a new mellow date night spot I def recommend this place our waiter was so nice to us and recommended the char grilled oysters and the duck gyozas omg 100/10 so delicious!! We also ordered the yellowtail nigiri which was very refreshing and if you have room for desert the Japanese cheesecake is perfect and not overly sweet . 10/10 recommend

Absolutely love the renovations compared to the previous business. The atmosphere has a clean, minimalist vibe that reminds me of spots you’d find in Austin or New York. Our server, Gabbi, was incredibly attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu, you can tell she truly enjoys her job, which made the experience even better. The food was outstanding! Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. If you’re planning to visit, I highly recommend the spicy shrimp, Caesar salad, and Wagyu hanger steak. Hope this review helps, please give it a like or heart if it did! ❤️

My boss treated us for lunch today. The atmosphere of the place is wonderful. So calm and serene. The food was absolutely amazing!!! Such exquisite flavors. We had edamame, fried duck wings, pork belly skewers, blue crab cake, cheek belly, and oysters. Every dish was full of flavor, finger licking good. The service was exceptional!! Our waiter was very friendly, attentive, and made several great recommendations. If you haven’t already given them a try, do so, you won’t regret it!!!

Superb dining experience. Quality is easily on par with the higher end-joints from Houston/Dallas with much more affordable prices. Appetizers are on point, main meals were exquisite and the sushi rolls were 10/10. Definitely for a special occasion, prices are fair but definitely higher than other local spots. The quality absolutely reflects the price though. 10/10 Greatly recommend it

I love the sushi, it’s so fresh and delicious. The chicken, you’d think eh, it’s just chicken, but you’d be mistaken! That ginger butter sauce, ooof, absolutely mouthwatering. I seriously can’t get enough, I look forward to my next visit before I even step out the door. My son loves the fried donut holes. It’s a MUST have at every visit.

Delicious Asian-inspired American spot with great sushi, sashimi, and rolls. The place is beautiful and has a full bar too. My go-to mains are the hamburger, kurobuta pork chop, and miso black cod—everything is super high quality. Don’t skip the apps and desserts either… the duck gyoza and pork cheek are amazing, and the crème brûlée is a must!

They have done a good job with the redesign! The outdoor seating area is a lovely bonus. The food was fantastic. We ordered the salmon and shrimp, and both dishes were cooked well. The staff was attentive and friendly.

Revised: From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the atmosphere—very pleasant and welcoming. The interior is beautiful, modern, and spacious, with plenty of seating options. One of the things I liked most is that you don’t really need a reservation since they always seem to have room available. The 1st visit The service was excellent—attentive, friendly, and professional. THE SECOND: Was the worst. I came back after few days; there were only 3 tables in the whole restaurant. Cero attention ; SLOW SERVICE; i can see from my seat my food was ready; 4 waiters all just talking and no one picked it up and bring it. Because ny waitter was not around. The waitter asked twice for the order; and brought very verg late.I can tell they are not trained to be teamplayers. Now the food—absolutely outstanding. The fish and sushi were incredibly fresh, carefully prepared, and full of flavor. Every dish I tried exceeded my expectations. It’s not easy to find sushi that feels this fresh and well-made, but Mujinzo nailed it. Truly delicious. Overall, Mujinzo has it all—great atmosphere, What a shame they don’t have well trained staff

This place was formerly Coast Asian Bistro. I was impressed with the remodel that was done. Beautiful interior. My server Brianna was great. I went at dinnertime and there were only 2 other tables with customers. Slightly overpriced compared to other local Japanese restaurants. Everything was great until the food arrived. The roll was loosely made. The rice was very bland. The sashimi was not fresh and not tasty. I doubt that I will return here again. There are much better options here locally.

Atmosphere was nice (other than the ac vent dripping water on us during the entire time) it didn’t feel like you where in the valley the minute you walked inside the restaurant. We really liked how they renovated the interior of the restaurant. Service was attentive and prompt! Unfortunately where it falls short is on the sushi and sashimi. We anticipated elevated sushi since all the marketing implied that they brought a sushi chef from up north and the actual fish was flown in from Japan. We were hoping for an elevated experience. Since we travel to eat sushi and have tried many authentic sushi restaurants. The appetizers were tasty we don’t mind paying top dollar but when the presentation is lacking and the sashimi is cut so thin and small I don’t see the value of three small pieces of salmon for $16. The sushi roll was 95% cold flavorless rice and 4% spicy tuna 1% sesame seeds. Again I don’t see the value for the price. In this case we like to taste the fish instead of all rice.

Don't be fooled by the marketing campaign being ramrodded through social media depicting an omakase being served by a professionally trained sushi chef presumably from Japan. Nobody here speaks Japanese. This isn't a review of the typical menu items found at any other restaurant within eye shot of the parking lot. This is about the omakase. My experience started a full week prior to my actual meal when I walked in and mentioned that I wanted to try the omakase. The host, gracious as they were, looked at me like I was ordering from the forbidden menu. Their demeanor changed. With their shoulders now tense and looking around for help, they told me that I needed to let them know at least 48 hours in advance. Why? Looking around I didn't see the famed sushi chef behind the bar so I'd just assumed they had to let him know someone wanted the omakase. Perhaps they wanted more than just one person to justify the cost of bringing him in. I couldn't understand it. An omakase isn't a special type of dinner that can only be done by the most trained of chefs. It's a staple experience that any chef can provide at a moment's notice at any sushi restaurant... any sushi restaurant outside the Rio Grande Valley, that is. If you need 48 hours notice to provide a quality omakase experience then it isn't saying much for your other chefs behind the bar. It's just consists of items already on the menu, but also gives your chefs the freedom to create their own dishes. Experiment a little. In any case, this was the moment where I felt I might be in trouble. It's a week later and I'm walking in to finally get some good sushi. The host asks for my name, says I'm here for the omakase, and immediately takes me to my seat at the bar. I'm the only one here. I only see one chef, and it's not _the guy_. Why did they need 48 hours notice again? The first dish was a delightful poke salad. Well made and well plated. A nice starter. I was cautiously optimistic. The rest of the meal was all nigiri pieces consisting of salmon, yellowtail, scallop, otoro, "wagyu", maguro, and uni. There were others but I stopped taking notes at some point once I realized what this was. Standard Valley sushi. And there's nothing wrong with that. It is what it is. This is what we know and how we do it. But I had to wait for this? Spend at least $100 for this? No. If you're going to put an omakase experience on such a pedestal you need to deliver and you didn't. The entire experience lasted less than an hour so the pace was also an issue. A well paced and well managed tasting course is at least two hours. If you're going to visit this restaurant you're going to have an amazing time ordering standard menu items. They do that very well. Just don't do the omakase.

We got there and the place was completely empty. The waiter let us know that there was no more rice for the sushi. It was probably around 1 pm so not late at all. AC was dripping on my shoulder so I crept a little to my right on my booth. Food was absolutely bland. And by bland I mean extremely extremely bland. I see a lot of people here posting on how the food is amazing and I’m not super picky so maybe they didn’t go to the Mujinzo I went to lol. The cod was very undercooked and tasted very off putting. I ordered a pricey Wagyu beef medium well and the inside was more like a rare and the outer layer was char. I paid about $130 for something that I was already at the point of getting up and walking away and just to get out of there. Will I give it another try? Definitely not. Waiter was very nice and attentive but I’m sorry, absolutely breathtaking in their ability to under deliver.
