Opinions de Hutchins BBQ Mckinney
Ive been to alot of barbq places and i think this one was the best one so far. There is plenty of available parking as well as a drive thru for ordering food. The outside of the store has its place for the pitmasters and bbq pits. The store itself is big and welcoming, plenty of seating even outside. The staff was overly nice and cheery, the food was hot and delicious. Everything had flavor and smoke! Free dessert with your purchase for dining in.
Nice weather on Saturday. Parked across the street. Visited the Mckinney location. Sat down outside, no one outside. Inside was packed. Jonelle was outstanding!! She is very good with people. Jonelle helped with condiments, to go boxes n bags. Ill be back.
Food was great!! If you are looking for real bbq smoked meat this is the place. The atmosphere was great and Efrain was very hospitable. He continued to check on us am to make sure our first time experience was memorable. We will be back!
Meat was tender and tasty. Coleslaw good. It seemed to me to have a citrusy taste. Mac and cheese was creamy and tasty. The ice cream is icy and not my favorite but it took a while to melt. The bread would have been better if it was a rustic sourdough instead of store bought. I didn’t realize there were sauces and toppings available. Busy. Mostly friendly employees. The meat section was helpful and gave us helpful info and a taste to help us decide. Glad we didn’t get three pounds of meat.
The food was absolutely incredible! Best Okra I have ever had and the sides were just as amazing as the meat. Jonelle was our server and she was so sweet and attentive! The atmosphere was so fun and the whole family had a wonderful time! I am from Florida but the next time I am in Texas, I will definitely be eating here!
I’ve considered moving to Texas for Hutchins BBQ! More comments on the photos and in the captions. Would def eat here again…even if there was a line out the door! It’s worth the wait! We did spend a little extra because we wanted to try so many different things, but it was way more food than two people needed.
Awesome Texas style BBQ here. The wait was not too long at 2pm on a Saturday, lone was just outside the door. Brisket was awesome. Super moist and flavorful. Sausage was above average but not my favorite all time. I would still recommend it though. The twinkies were the star of the show. A whole jalepeno stuffed with cream cheese, chopped brisket, wrapped in bacon and smoked. Creamed corn was a nice side. Very good choice. Loved the complimentary peach cobbler and banana pudding. Both were great. Cobbler comes out super hot and is great with the ice cream.
I’ve had bbq from pretty much all over the country. This is hands down the best bbq I’ve ever had. The service was absolutely amazing all the staff were incredibly helpful and nice! Paula was a great server making sure we were taken care of and knew about the free dessert they offered! If you’re ever in McKinney, TX or the Dallas metro area it’s worth the drive.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had an amazing experience at Hutchins BBQ in McKinney! The food was incredible as always — perfectly cooked, fresh, and full of flavor. What really made this visit stand out was our server, Paula. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. Her great attitude and customer service made the whole meal even more enjoyable. If you’re coming here, ask for Paula — she’ll take great care of you! Definitely one of the best BBQ spots in Texas, and we’ll be back again soon.
This is hands down some of the best BBQ i have had. Period. The fatty brisket was absolutely perfect. The jalapeno cheddar sausage was great and sides such as Mac and cheese and coleslaw were made with a recipe that my Mom must have slipped them. Again, perfection. I drove nearly an hour to get here, and it was well worth the drive.
Went to Hutchins in McKinney for the first time and now it’s my fav bbq spot. I immediately loved the atmosphere- it felt like being at home great TX feel to it. Brisket and Mac and cheese were best I’ve had I’d give them a 9. Mac cheese has a little bit of bacon in it and it’s soo good. The sausage was really good give it an 8.5 and I love the desserts. They get 9 as well and not sure which was better between banana pudding and peach cobbler. They are unlimited and free:)
Food and hospitality was amazing! They offered us samples made you want to order everything; took us through a tour which surprised the team. Thanks for the flavor blast and experience all the way from NC!
My very first time here, and I’m so glad I went. The food is FANTASTIC. It’s on the pricey side but it’s worth every penny. Definitely a special occasion place. Come right around 11am if you want to beat the crowd because the line gets LONG. Complimentary dessert for dine in customers. Don’t tell my mom but the banana pudding was better than hers. Mike was AWESOME, never let our drinks go empty, was very attentive, and had a positive attitude. He really seems to enjoy his job.
Food delicious. Brisket excellent. Customer service was great. Efrain took care of us, and he was very attentive. Took care of every need without asking. I'm down from North Carolina and I'm glad I dropped in.
My wife is from Dallas and wouldn’t shut up about this place (I’m Canadian). Ended up being the best BBQ I’ve ever had. We got a bit of everything and it was all 5 stars. On top of that, the staff were amazing. Super friendly and genuine. They went above and beyond. Especially Mike, he was super accommodating and helped us pack our leftovers without asking. I think I have type 3 diabetes after eating their dessert, but it was worth it. 50/10 would recommend.
I finally made my way over to Hutchins BBQ, and let me tell ya, this place lives up to the hype and then some. From the second I walked in, it felt like true Texas hospitality warm, friendly, and downright welcoming. The staff treated me like family, always smiling, happy to answer questions, and quick to make sure I was taken care of. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers, and that goes a long way. Now let’s talk about the brisket, because wow.. it was superb. Easily some of the best brisket I’ve had anywhere in Texas. The meat was incredibly juicy, tender, and packed full of smoky flavor. It had that perfect bark on the outside and just melted in my mouth on the inside. Honestly, I didn’t even need to use any sauce on it. it was that good all on its own. That’s how you know you’re dealing with real deal Texas barbecue. The atmosphere was lively but comfortable, the lines moved quicker than I expected, and everything well organized despite how busy they were. You can tell this place is popular for a reason. One of the coolest perks is that they offer free dessert, which is a real sweet bonus. Unfortunately, I was so full from the brisket and sides that I couldn’t even bring myself to try it, but that just gives me another excuse to come back. All in all, Hutchins BBQ is a must visit if you love authentic Texas barbecue. I’ll definitely be back for round two and next time, I’m saving room for dessert. 🤠
This might be my new favorite bbq place! The Brisket was amazing! The staff was friendly and let us try a sample. Really liked the variety of sides and the brisket pinto beans had huge chunks of brisket in it! The portions were very generous. They had a condiment bar and if you dine in they have all you can eat banana pudding and peach cobbler and soft serve ice cream. After we were leaving one of the workers asked if we wanted to take a little tour of the smokers in the restaurant and that was really interesting! I would recommend getting there early to eat! Would definitely go back!
Drove in from Lockhart to see what this hype was about this place and it DID NOT disappoint!! I've never seen such great mannerisms with ALL staff. Never than Chic Fil A staff no doubt. The food was delicious and right off the bone. So worth the 4 hour drive to taste it. Mike was such a great host and always came to the table with a smile and willingness to help in any way possible.
Seriously THE best restaurant I’ve ever been to. Food is great, but the service and hospitality of the staff is incredible. We arrived expecting a casual local bbq joint and were greeted with free samples and an offer to get a tour of the kitchen. Each employee treated our large group of 11 with a smile and patience during a busy Saturday lunch. Also, they have a topping and desert bar. Every award they’ve won is more than deserved.
Some of the best BBQ we’ve ever had. We tried the ribs, brisket, mac n cheese, fried okra, potato casserole, baked beans, and a Texas Twinkie. Everything had so much flavor. We also got a tour after we ate. Thanks, Zack! They thought it was cool (and funny) that we flew all the way from Florida to visit Melissa, TX since, well, my name is Melissa 😂 Glad we found Hutchin’s BBQ on our adventure because the food did not disappoint!!
Best BBQ in North Texas. Not only impressed by how many awards they have won, but also by the quality of food and service. The whole team is amazing and so willing to help you. My family enjoys eating here, including my 93 years old grandfather. Meats are the best but the sides are also delicious. Hutchins is always a hit.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely incredible experience at Hutchins BBQ in McKinney! The food was amazing — perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and truly some of the best BBQ in Texas. The environment was welcoming and comfortable, and the hospitality was top-notch from start to finish. A special shoutout to Efrain, who was an outstanding server. Friendly, attentive, and made the whole visit even better. I can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend Hutchins BBQ to anyone looking for great food and great service!
I flew across the country and would do it again to eat here. I didn't know what to expect standing in line but was immediately greeted with a lively fun atmosphere as you come through the doors. Excellent counter service that freshly cut your desired portions of meat. The sides accent the meal nicely and are fresh prepared and also sold ala carte. Full soda fountain for soft drinks. An amazing thing was they do not sell alcohol but recommended BYOB. You seat yourself in a large dining area where other attendants make sure you don't go hungry and you have everything you need. Complimentary dessert for dine in guests. I wish they would move away from Styrofoam plates/cups. Prices are reasonable. Parking is a little limited. Overall excellent place that is a must stop if you're in the area. I'll definitely be returning anytime I need some good barbecue..
I was finally able to come checked out Hutchins BBQ and it did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly from the moment we arrived and made us feel very welcome, especially Blanca. The bbq was also amazing especially the brisket and turkey and I usually don't get turkey at bbq places but I'm glad I did here. The turkey was the juiciest turkey I've ever had and would order it again. The sausage was also great especially the jalapeno sausage. Now for the the time I was most excited for the Texas Twinkies. They were huge and stuff with cream cheese and brisket inside. It was a little sweet with the glazed on it. I just wish the jalapeno had a bit more spice to it but overall a must get. When you dine there the desert is free and they do not miss. They offer banana pudding, peach cobbler, and soft serve ice cream. I probably ate to much dessert but was worth it. Overall this place is a 10/10 and will come back of in the area
Came in for lunch, as soon as you are approaching the building it smells delicious. There was a short wait for us to orderbut nothing outrageous. The staff at the line were very nice and made suggestions since it was our first time. Once we sat down a gentleman approached us and asked if we needed anything. Mike was very attentive and came to refill our cups and cleaned any dirty dishes we had. He suggested dessert and told us it was complementary. They have complementary ice cream, banana pudding, and peach cobbler. Everything is delicious!! After our lunch we had the Pit Tour, it was short and the guys at the pit room were very nice.
Came in from St. Louis to try out some BAR B Q and wasn’t disappointed at all!! We had a family of 4 adults and ordered the family pack, we all ate plenty and STILL had left overs. The brisket was the best we ever had, mid cut was awesome without all the fat. Turkey sliced was delicious and so moist. Sides were very tasty. Service was over the top the best! We were greeted by Efrain at our table with a big smile and checked in with us later to see if we needed anything. Great southern hospitality. What better way to end our meal is with free dessert!!! Glad we made it to McKinney to try Hutchins. We will be back next time we are in
Best BBQ I've ever had. We got here on a Saturday around noon and expected to wait a long time. Surprisingly we didn't even wait 30 mins to get our food. The brisket was so good. The ribs were soft and slid of the bone. So good! We got a three sides and drinks and ended up with a higher bill but it was worth every penny. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I also want to thank the staff member by the entrance who gave us some sausage samples during our wait time. I wouldn't go here every day because of the prices but I would definitely recommend a visit if you want to experience top notch Texas BBQ!
Everything about this place was fantastic and above expectations! The place is clean, which I find very important. The service was excellent! Our server MJ was very attentive, very personable, and we did not need for a single thing while he attended us. The food was incredible! Everything not only tasted fantastic but the meat nearly melted in your mouth. I would absolutely come back! For two it cost us around $150 including the gratuity. Pricey but very much worth it!!
Sunday night visit, first visit. The wait from the time we entered the line to ordering was a little over thirty minutes. It can be described as pricey if you purchase items by the pound. The brisket and pulled pork were good. I would've preferred the meat to have more of a smokiness to them, but they were good overall. The sides were good: broccoli salad, creamed corn, macaroni and cheese. If you dine in dessert items are complimentary. They also offer complimentary slices of white bread and toppings such as peppers, raw onions, and pickled onions. They have staff that checks on you after you select your seat. The noise level was not too loud. It's a solid option for bbq. I'd consider visiting again if in the area.
Pulled into Hutchins BBQ at 1:30 PM and the line was still out the door—which tells you everything you need to know. If people are willingly standing in line after lunch hours, you’re in the right place. Unfortunately, the moment I laid eyes on ribs, pulled pork, and all the glorious sides… she suddenly “wasn’t hungry.” Absolute tragedy. A full-blown BBQ buzzkill. So I adapted. Ordered a sliced brisket sandwich, potato salad, and brisket beans—strategically chosen because she doesn’t eat those sides. No sharing. Survival mode activated. Brisket? Fantastic. Tender, flavorful, worth every minute in line. I finished strong with banana pudding, which absolutely did not disappoint. There’s also an ice cream machine, but I exercised rare restraint… mostly because I was already winning. Bottom line: this place is legit. Come hungry, be patient, and maybe make sure everyone in your party actually plans to eat. I’ll definitely be back—hopefully with a hungry wife, that changes everything!
I recently visited Hutchins Barbecue in McKinney, Texas, and while the food was absolutely fantastic—rich, flavorful, and everything you’d hope for from a truly great barbecue spot—the real highlight of my entire experience was Nelle. From the moment I walked in, her presence stood out. Her customer service was nothing short of exceptional: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming in a way that immediately made me feel at home. Throughout my visit, Nelle consistently went above and beyond. She was incredibly prompt, checking in at just the right moments without ever feeling intrusive. We hardly had any wait time for anything we needed; it was as if I had my own personal hostess dedicated to making sure everything was perfect. Her attention to detail, her kindness, and her effortless ability to connect with guests transformed a simple meal into something memorable. Nelle didn’t just serve us—she elevated the entire experience. She’s the kind of person who turns a great restaurant visit into something truly special, the type of service you remember long after the meal is over. Hutchins Barbecue is absolutely worth visiting for the food alone. But if you want the full experience—an experience that makes you feel valued, welcomed, and genuinely cared for—dine in and ask for Nelle. She is the best, and she made my visit unforgettable.
10/17/2025 @ 7 p.m. - this was my first visit to Hutchins BBQ, though I have had their food a few times before my visit. Upon arrival, the place was packed, luckily we found a parking spot not too far away (we had a senior with a walker). After parking we stood in line for approximately (30) thirty minutes before we ordered our meals. All of us ordered the brisket sandwiche meals, and I ordered a Texas Twinkie on the side. Our food was delicious. Even eating the leftovers the next day. All in all in recommend Hutchins BBQ for delicious BBQ'd food. Just if your going to eat there, choose a less crowded time/day.
