Opinions de Kings Asian Cuisine Merced
The food is amazing, and so is the service! I really like the Fried Salmon Maki, as well as the bento boxes available during lunchtime. However, I also fell in love with a take on chicken noodle soup that was unbelievable! I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Best sushi in town! By far the best I've had in merced. Sashimi is on point and the spicy tuna is perfect! The only thing I would change is the servers attention. She was great but had to wait a while to ask for a refill, but even then I would still come back no matter the circumstance!
Everything was excellent. Had a California roll which was delicious. I also had the honey walnut shrimp and my friend had the pork chow yuk and we took home some chicken chow mein for her husband. It's all good at King's Asian Cuisine.
Saw them from the roof across the street. Looks tasty. From what I could see. Which was nothing. At all.
Decided to sit at the sushi bar last night, and was warmly greeted by several staff members. I was planning on starting with the cucumber salad, but before I even had a chance to order it, a bowl of it was given to me, on the house! Wow! For my sushi, I had the Ultimate roll (my favorite roll there) and an order of sake nigiri. My food was prepared instantly, and was ready within moments of my order. Everything was so fresh and flavorful, and the service impeccable. And this, my friends, is why I continue to go back. I love King's!!! (Sorry no pic...was so hungry, I was half way done before I remembered lol.)
Absolutely love this place. Great food and great service. Gets a bit busy on Friday and Saturday nights so if you not big on the wait just make a phone order and pick up and bring it home
Very Good Food, very friendly staff and always willing to let you order just before closing. Lol
The prices are a little higher than some other chinese restaurants but its totally worth it. King's Asian is clean, nice and delicious. They also have a nice outdoor patio. I highly recommend the pork fried rice with lemon chicken. It's delicious and one of the cheaper items on the menu.
Fresh Sushi and decent service. I had the Yosemite Roll and she had the Sashimi lunch today. Everything was excellent as always. Very clean restaurant with the freshest Sushi in the Central Valley. Service can be a little slow at times but Kings is my favorite Sushi Restaurant in the surrounding area. Prices are great for the quality of food you receive.
Food is always very good and consistent. Service has always been excellent and attentive. I seem to always get the same waitress and she is the best. Also, lots of entree and other choices to choose from to eat.
i absolutely love this restaurant. it's one of the first places I went to eat when I moved here and has continued to be a staple for our family. it's got something for everyone, and the food is sooo good. my husband doesn't really eat sushi but he loves the sliced pork! i am so glad they're back open for indoor dining!!
I always have such a great time here, the food is always delicious and the service is great. They also have a huge menu. Will be coming back soon!!
This place has the BEST PORK FRIED RICE. It also has great sushi, combination plates, and decorations inside. In my opinion, the atmosphere is luxurious (even the restrooms are nice and clean when dine in was possible). They have never taken long to cook and bring out our orders.
King's has always been a favourite & I was so happy to see that they re-opened for dine-in. (Quality just wasn't the same with take-out, unfortunately.) Was seated immediately, however it's a bit of a wait with service & new staff, but it's worth it! Looking forward to many more experiences here.
Excellent tempura. The beef was a little tough, but there was a lot of it. The pot stickers were also pretty good. The dough could have been a little thicker and softer, but still a lot better than other places that only steam them or grill them to death
The food at this restaurant is amazing. The sushi is especially good and is worth a try. The items on the menu are reasonably priced. Something that you should know before you go is that the portions of food are huge.
Great atmosphere and staff. Watched the game and enjoyed the food. Great amount of food for reasonable prices. Full crowd during early evening on Fridays. The layout is comfortable with soft seats. Cloth napkins. Calming ambiance. Recommend for your kind of occasion.
Another great meal at Kings! The service is great and the food is delicious every time! See you soon!
Food was great. 1st time coming here. Staff is very friendly. Place is very clean and has a nice atmosphere. Definitely will be going back anytime I fill up for some Chinese cuisine.
I get take out from.here a lot as I am often near by. I always order the Foil wrapped chicken and Pork Fried Rice. Every time I have order out they tell me "15 min!" And by George, they have it hot and ready to go in 15 min! Friendly, fast, and affordable! Oh, and delicious! Couldnt ask for more!
I absolutely love this place! Staff is friendly and quick. They try to help you to the best of their ability. The atmosphere is fantastic. Its dark and has a good vibe to it. The food here is amazing. They have all types of dishes ranging from bento to nigri. I leave here each time being more satisfied than the last. Highly recommended! And yes theres alcohol!
The portions are very generous for the price. Dinner for a family of two adults and three teenagers was reasonably priced. Food was delicious and the service is always top notch.
I love coming here for several reasons. The food here comes in bulk. 14 dollars for food that actually fills you up is rare in this economy. Not only that, the service is wonderful. I came in dehydrated and got my cup refilled multiple times before I even had to ask. Genuinely enjoy this place and it’s always nice, alone or with friends.
My favorite sushi place. Food is always delicious and the staff are all so very nice.
Celebrated our daughters 28th birthday there. Service and good was wonderful! Great menu! Love that they have a full bar as well!
Highly recommend. The food tastes clean and really good. The serving size is pretty big, so definitely recommend sharing dishes. It's not like the other restaurants where you pay more than what you get. The service today was top notch, got all our drinks refilled before we were done and the food came out quick. Will definitely be back to try more. Recommend the lion king roll, calamari, chicken katsu, tonkatsu ramen, and pink lemonade.
Our favorite date night place for dinner! Food is award winning and the staff are amazing! Always delicious!
Great food every time you go
I highly recommend this place! They have a great selection of sushi ingredients, especially for vegetarians. The sushi I tried was the best I’ve had so far in Merced!
Honestly a really good restaurant. Really good quality, price, and the flavor was great. I called in my order and the drive was fast and efficient.
It was the most delicious food I've ever had. The service was amazing, always making sure we had our drinks. The place looks lovely. I will be coming again!
Really good sushi rolls and pork fried rice. We haven't tried many of the other options, but if you are looking for sushi in Merced, they are great. I have tried almost every roll, plus some not listed. Some of our favorites are Flying Monkey, Godzilla, Tenchi, Lion King and the Tyler, which has jalapeños, so good!
Love the food , love the service . At this time I only use the take out services. The servers/ employees always have masks on and keep it safe in facility allowing one to two customers picking up . They have been polite and the food DELICIOUS every time . Pics are from a time before the pandemic.
Fasting so am glad there’s Vegetarian options.. and Such HUGE portions for the price!!!! I wasn’t expecting so large box.. (FYI The veggies tempura needs 2 sauce, one is not enough.. but I got enough sauce in the other dish I was planning to use it as.) Not a fan of styrofoam though but oh well :( I’m here with team for work, so company’s paying for meals so gotta order two hehe.. that’s Szechuan vegetables and tempura and also got seaweed salad. I did forget how spicy Szechuan is so forgot to ask them to go easy on the spices lol 🥵 🌶
Awesome place. I had the bobcat roll Because I do not eat seafood. It has tempura, chicken, rice and seaweed, and it was absolutely delicious.I can't wait to go back. It was my grandson's birthday and they brought him out a tempura Oreo dessert
The go to for sushi and Japanese cuisine in the area. The atmosphere is cozy, the food is delicious. Conveniently located downtown, right across from the movie theater. Even a Japanese exchange student has told me the taste is very similar to authentic cuisine in Japan. You won't be disappointed.
The place is decorated for Halloween! Looks great inside! I like their bento boxes, sushi rolls, and edamame. Photos: L19 teriyaki chicken bento box L20 sesame chicken bento box Rainbow roll Flying monkey roll Silver Dragon Roll Phoenix Roll
This is the Sushi Combo A from King’s Asian Cuisine in Merced!!! ❤️ I love sushi sooooo much, and I got to have the chance to go eat out with some of my high school friends!!! 😍 The establishment honestly did a really good job with decorating the place for Christmas! They had some super cute lights on the walls where we ate, and it was definitely such a vibe ✨ The Sushi Combo A came with five pieces of assorted nigiri and California rolls, miso soup, white rice, and salad!!! I was really surprised that it came with so much food because I didn’t read the description very well haha When they served the three bowls just for me, I was super thrown off 😂 Nevertheless! I still enjoyed all my food, and my nigiri sushi was great! The fish was a big portion, and they were good quality! The California rolls were just a tad bit on the soggy side, but they were still pretty good too!!! Overall, it was a pretty nice experience!!! 🎄
Update!! 02/19/25 visited again what a change!!! Clean tables! Clean new menus! Thank you!! Delicious sashimi, tempura, and rolls. GREAT service from the new hostess “Angelina”. She was friendly and smiling. She quickly brought us water and helped answer our questions while we waited for the server. We appreciated the cleanliness, tasty food and friendly service. Outstanding changes and we can’t wait to return!! DIRTY! Dirty seats. Dirty soy sauce bottle. Dirty plates! Sashimi cut too thick! Tuna was fishy but the other fish was great! Sunomono had absolutely NO flavor. I tried to get some vinegar from the bottom of the bowl but non to be found Tako was fine. Service was inattentive. They forgot to bring part of my order and was never asked if I wanted a second cocktail. I would not go again. Weird Muzak being played. So disappointing. Before COVID, they had a nice sushi bar with great sashimi! Nobody even said thank you for coming in.

Been going here for years. Glad they finally have dine-in offered again. Typically we order a variety of rolls when we go. Lemon Tem is my favorite. My daughters love the spider roll. We most recently tried the Panda roll, which was on the specials board.
Food here is extremely good I recommend the orange chicken chow mein with pork My son love the chow mein with shrimp and the sushi rolls really good atmosphere is really good The service is always amazing I don't think we've ever had a situation with the service
Absolutely love this place. The food is warm, delicious..Serving sizes are great. Service is great, the prices are reasonable
This place is great! It's been here a long time, but I never had been there until recently. My friend suggested we eat there because it's his favorite, so we had lunch there. The dining room looked clean, good lighting, not too bright, but we'll lit. The server was sweet, but professional and helpful with choosing from the very big menu, and had our order out quickly. It was hot and delicious, and the price seemed ok. Not the deal of the century, but I imagine the overhead downtown is unreal. All in all it was really good. And my friend paid, so it was really good. 😁

Every time I come through Merced I drop by Main Street to eat at a new place. So far, I've loved the eats in Downtown Merced and King's is no exception. Service was fast and the lunch menu was reasonably priced and delicious.
The sushi quality was superb and the taste was great as well, but the prices are high. The menu prices on google maps are outdated so expect to pay about $1.45 more on average. I bought the Flying Monkey for $17.27 with tax.
Not bad at all. Tonight was Kung Pao Shrimp. Nice size order and priced very well. Order rice separately and you have 2 person meal! Sushi is good as well for price. Nice staff.
The food here is consistently good and their sushi always looks amazing The service depends on really how busy it is But we went for lunch and it was very good. Been to this place 10+ times and im pleasantly suprised each time I recommend
Ok love the food. Service can be hit or miss. Depends on how busy they are. The sushi is awesomeness. Love the bento box lunch. Place is a bit dark and clean. Prices depend on what you eat.
The food here is usually very delicious and the service here is fantastic. However if you want the best experience, go in the morning. We went last night a little before 8, the service was amazing but the main courses were a little lacking. Still I think they are a great restaurant.
King's is a great place for lunch. Enough seating to go around, quite a few booths, a bar area to the back and a fee tables for larger groups. Nice decor, dimly lighted. Smells fantastic. I haven't tried all of their rolls but the few that I have had: Godzilla, Main Street, and KP are delicious. I like to order the Bento Box bc that comes with your choice of meat, rice, salad, mixed tempura, and California rolls. I've never had to ask for something different or corrected (knock on wood). Staff is friendly and on top of things without being pushy or coming TOO often. My daughter orders the chicken fried rice and that's a really good order as well.
The food was great. The combo meals were awesome, specially the egg foo young in the combo, it was similar to omelette but tasted better. The fried rice was great too in Chinese combination specials.
Due too Covid they are only offering takeout for now. Hostess said they may open up the dining area in Sept. Food preparation takes about 20 min. I ordered pit stickers, shrimp fried rice and a large soda. Total was slightly over $20. It was pricey! Nowadays, everything seems to be pricey! Food was good, it hit the spot.
Was going to place next door! Sadly they were closed. Saw this place and the smell of it was inviting. Very dark inside but great ambiance. Lights over table we're interesting. What a big menu so many choices. Tries sushi and a plate of food. Wow big portions. Sushi was yummy as was my sweet and sour chicken. My soup was hot and tasty. Definitely delicious. Commming back to try other dishes.
Lady messed up on my son's order. would not change it out, but rather just argue with me. saying I ordered something that I clearly remember I didn't it.
I come here all the time and always am very pleased with the food! Sometimes it takes awhile to get the food, drinks or attention of the waitress or waiters but that's only because they are always so busy. If you want a great sushi place I recommend you come here as you will be pleased just hopefully you go during a non busy time!
Probably the best Asian restaurant in Merced....Good food and good service! Big menu selection! Very popular location in Merced...
The food was great like always!!! Our waitress never came back to check up on us after our food was served.
SUPER GOOD FOOD... AND MEGA LARGE PORTIONS... FOR A MINUTE THERE I THOUGHT I STOOD STILL IN TIME.PRICES ARE LIKE PRE COVID.I MUST COME EATERY IN MERCED
I’ve had lunch here with friends a couple of times. They have a great selection of Japanese and Chinese food on the menu. The food is on par with other Chinese and Japanese establishments. I like that they have a bar and serve Japanese sodas. Their sushi, and bento boxes are delicious.
The only place in Merced to get some decent Sushi! Portion has gotten smaller as a prices have went up. Food is still tasting yummy for my tummy 😈
Nothing special but nothing bad either. I eat here atleast once a month and usally get the sushi rolls. Their mapu tofu is a bit different than others too and has a little twist to it which is good in its own way. I would give the place a 4.5 if I could.
I love King's Asian specifically for their extensive and delicious sushi rolls. They are massive and so good! I like their edemame and Crab Rangoons, too. Everything else is a hit or miss. The portions are large, and the prices are fair. The staff has always been friendly (not overly friendly) and they do their jobs well. The atmosphere is casual, and I think they just did an update. It's nothing spectacular but it's nice and clean. It's one of my favorite places to go in Merced

I had take out years back with the family... It was ok! It's Not the best in Merced. I can only say that I haven't been back since then. Every one has a different experience with Asain foods. This is a nice place tho always buzzing with people. Possibly a good local hang out. Experience it for yourself it's the only way to know.
This place has both Chinese and Japanese dishes offerings, and we opted for Japanese to satisfy our cravings. Ordered the bed Teriyaki Beef+Tampura combo and 2 sushi rolls, and both were ok. I wish the cut of beef is better and that we could taste the grill taste more (maybe it's not grilled?), and somehow the different ingredients/flavors of the rolls were all blended together, that the 2 rolls tasted the same. Service is ok. The restaurant decor seemed old(?) but clean, which is more important.
The food was ok. Not terrible. But I was not super stoked about anything in particular. Nothing inherently special about my order. I had the Agedashi Tofu, Lemon Tem roll, Flying Monkey roll and an order of Kung Pao chicken and BBQ Pork fried rice. It was overpriced and though my food smelled amazing, it just didn't ...quite taste amazing. My tofu was super salty. The lemon tem roll had uncleaned shrimp vein and both rolls had a weird texture on the seaweed wrap (maybe slightly old and not as fresh). Everything was good enough to eat overall, but just really overpriced for a lackluster meal experience. Would I come again? Probably. Not to buy in bulk, though.
I've been to many Chinese places in California. This one has very large portions I just didn't care for the flavor compared to others.
Very quick visit. Very beautiful ambiance, the restaurant is decorated beautifully, however there is very limited gluten free dishes. When I say limited, I mean in the sense of I only if you are in the mood for a salad. Ask your server to ask the chefs to ensure something is GF! In our experience tonight, there wasn't many options. We left pretty fast after ordering our drinks. Server was great.
Food is good, customer service terrible. Server took so long to bring out the food. Constantly helping other tables, not checking up on ours. Waited an hour to get food, waited another hour to get the remaining food.
Great experience on take-out and great sushi rolls. Unfortunately, I came in today to dine-in and the service was terrible!! Took us 13 minutes (not that I was timing them 🤣) to get our drinks. Food was quick tho not gonna lie and delicious, wanna know what was quick too? The tab!! We still wanted some desserts and when we told the waitress “Li Hua Houng” we weren’t ready for the tab, she still left it there and told us our desserts and 1 extra sushi roll to-go were going take a while because they were busy…not to mention her awful attitude afterwards. She wasn’t even checking on us, other waitresses and waiters were asking us for refills and other things.
The best restaurant for Asian cuisine, I've frequent this place for years. I've always called in my order and picked it up. However today, I call in, they answered the phone very pleasant and professional, she asked if she could put me on hold, I replied yes. I stayed on hold for 10 minutes then I hung up. After which I tried calling back for an additional 10 minutes, the line was busy and stayed busy. I only spend approximately $35 each time I order i guess my money was not good enough to spend there. I'll find a different Asian that like each call is important. No worries
i order the sushi burrito and the tuna inside was brown and made me feel so sick for two days.
We were looking for a new dinner spot last night and decided to try King Asian Cuisine on a whim. Upon entering, the place looked nice and smelled decent, which gave us a good first impression. The experience, however, went downhill quickly. The service was poor, and the food and drinks left a lot to be desired. Drinks: I ordered a Shirley Temple, which was fine, but my boyfriend’s Long Island Iced Tea was a disaster. It tasted like half lemonade and half Coke, with no proper mixing. We brought this to our waitress’s attention, but instead of offering to fix the drink, she insisted that this was how they’ve always made it. When we asked for it to be remade without sweet-and-sour mix, she refused and told us to order something else. We settled for a Corona, which was disappointing considering the poor service. Food: We ordered the Lemon Tem Sushi Roll, which was described as having crab meat. What we received, however, was imitation crab. Not only is this misleading, but it also violates FDA guidelines. When we asked the waitress about it, she confirmed it was imitation crab and was dismissive about our concerns. The rest of our food was mediocre at best. The deep-fried scallops were okay, and the plate with fried rice, egg foo young, and lemon chicken was underwhelming. The best part was the small bits of barbecue pork in the fried rice, which were delicious—we wished there had been more of that. Service: The service throughout the night was subpar. Our waitress was inattentive and seemed irritated whenever we voiced our concerns. This made the overall dining experience even worse. Final Thoughts: King Asian Cuisine fell far short of expectations. Between the poorly made drinks, misleading menu descriptions, and lackluster service, this is not a place we’ll be returning to. While there were a few decent bites, it’s simply not worth the hassle or disappointment.
First and last time, unfortunately the food was disappointing and disgusting, everything was really greasy, had a metal taste, and just tasted very refrigerated and just old. My salad was gross as well.
The waitress was great. What bothered me was: 1 The shrimp not being properly deveined. 2 A piece of gum stuck to my arm from under the table. 3 The menu did not have enough variety.

Service and staff was very fast & nice. Although the menu doesn't show prices, so make sure to confirm prices. Sushi was very mid especially for the price, it was a deep fried cali roll but it was very doughy and soft. Wouldn’t necessarily recommend.
It’s take out only right now due to covid, which was disappointing but the worst was I ordered pork chow mein. Noodles were very dry, the meat was as hard as a rock and very dry. The whole thing had no flavor or any sauce. -10 stars waste of money. I used to order this dish all the time, was looking forward to having it again because it was my favorite. Nothing like it used to be, it sucked!!
Updated 12/21/2023 Wow, how the quality has gone down. Eggs rolls were super greasy, chicken in a foil was stuck to the foil so bad we couldnt get the chicken out. Tempura shrimp was meh. Flying monkey sushi roll was ok. The roll was cut so unevenly that some pieces were super thin while others were too big. tldr; a very miserable experience. Wont visit again. Old Review: Best sushi place in town. Old Score: 4/5
We arrived with reservation and was seated and then the table that had just been cleared a group was seated and served drinks to them and we waited for half hour to get drinks ordered. They didn't say why it was taking do long but we felt with reservations we would have been treated better. After 45 minutes we had only gotten 3 drinks served out of 10.
The food was bland and overpriced. The sweet sour pork was even bad, didn't know you can mess it up, it's like they forgot the "sour" to the sweet and sour sauce. The bomber sushi roll was filled mostly with avocado and only the ends had tempura shrimp.
It was my First time to there and the end time tooo...I ordered the grilled eel rice bowl...the bowl was full rice with a few pieces of eel fish and added so much sauce, it was super salty..over $23..
The food is so very bland. I ordered chicken chow mein and pineapple fried rice for to go. Very disappointed for a chinese place with no spices in it.
I'm disappointed. This USED to be my favorite place to go when I'd come in from Vegas until last night. We had a party of 5 adults and it took forever for us to order. When we did order, the menu did not mention that spicy mayo came on this roll. I immediately let the server know and he went and told the new owner about it. She refused to take the roll off despite me ordering one that I know they don't put sauce on. When we asked to speak to the manager we were told we couldn't because she didn't hardly speak English. Another adult in our group never got their drunk or soup. Another never got the other half of their meal! How do you charge someone for a roll they didn't even touch? Also, before I bit into my SCALLOP I found a nickel sized hard piece of sand dollar looking bone. I wasn't offered anything, instead the female server snatched the piece out my hand really quick! I was told it was a bone. Scallops have bones??? Never again.
I knew something was mushy with their fish, woke up dizzy nauseated and urgent stomach pain and feeling to blow up the restroom 10/6/25 food poisoning.
I ordered take out from the menu on their approved Google Plattform. I selected the menu button and went off that selective discription. It was false advertisment. It did not include everything it says it does & that is written. When I informed them, it was very unprofessional. Hotstess indicated, the owner says she makes her own rules. & that people should only look at website menu. I was also hung up on. The problem is they have two conflicting menus being displayed one on google & one on website. Its very conflicting for customers & does not elaberate & specify that customers should ONLY order from Website menu. They need to fix this because Google is a marketing plattform they are using for the public to attract customers to their business. That menu is valid & should be honored. Or edit it. I have taken photos of that menu, as proof just to show the owner what I thought I was actually ordering. The worst part, is the managers attitude. She obviously knows nothing about customer care. She seemed to come off as an ignorant person with ego issues, taking matters personal, diffentely not a good business manajorial candidate. In the business world, you must learn to separate that. Things like this is why businesses dont last. The public & customers have a legal right to voice errors.
I’d give zero stars if i could. I’ve never had such a terrible bento box till i came here. The chicken looks like they boiled it. It had no flavor. The rice was cold and hard. And the presentation was garbage. My 2 year old niece could have put together a better plate and presentation. Don’t recommend coming here. Go to sushi cuisine instead. Way better.
Unfortunately I can’t recommend this restaurant. We ordered 2 lunch bento boxes. Both the chicken & beef teriyaki were rubbery, tough & dry… and had the appearance of being boiled. The beef also smelled old, at the point where it might be turning. The cucumber in the salad still had the “cucumber” sticker on the peel. There was minimal dressing on the lettuce. The tempura batter had no flavor and was barely edible. I spent most of the meal trying to convince myself to eat the food since it was so unappetizing and had absolutely no resemblance of real Japanese food. We won’t be returning, even if this might have been a fluke bad experience.

I wish I could give this place zero stars. The service was atrocious. We didn't even get to order food because the server, a skinny Asian lady, was incredibly rude from the start. We tried to ask if they could add cucumber to a california roll, but before we could even finish explaining, she was already being rude and dismissive. She was even taking the menus out of our hands while we were trying to ask questions. We were charged $8 for two sodas. We ended up leaving without ordering any food
PLEASE BE AWARE this place was closed last year due to rat infestation. You could see rats in the widows. The Pic of the rats was posted on FB. Meaning they new it was bad an still served the food. Beware folks
I got the dragon roll and the fish was bad it tasted like is been sitting for a while and the tuna is the cheaper than ever for the price they are asking for I would not recommend
