We wanted some lunch and decided to stop at this roadside grill. We had some excellent menu choices that were quite good. Excellent service and easy parking. The menu has something for everyone. And yes, we tried the gator meat... good stuff 😀
Tattoo serves seasoned real gator meat dishes, not like typical deep fried thick batter over supposedly gator meat. If you care to taste what gator meat should taste like, here is the place to check out. We ordered gator stir fry and gator basket. We enjoyed both. Will definitely come visit Tattoo again.
Awesome!! I got the gator tacos and they were so good. The key lime pie is the best I have had in my life. Everything was so delicious, the setting is beautiful, and the staff was very kind and helpful.
Amazing grilled gator sandwich made by the most skillful gator meat chef ever! The quality of the meal and the service were both top-notch! I'll definitely come back next time that I'm in the area. Highly recommended 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Wonderful food. First time trying gators and it didn’t disappoint.
Great gator. We tried the bites and the stir fry. Both are great but I highly recommend the stir fry. Even the fries and coleslaw are good. Outdoor seating but under a tiki roof. Service was efficient. I will revisit if in the area again.
We tried crocodile meat and frog legs for the first time, and both were surprisingly good! The food came out quickly, the portions were just right, and the whole experience was smooth and enjoyable. A fun spot if you’re in the mood for something different.
We had the pleasure to enjoy our first time eating alligator 🐊 and conch. The alligator meat was tender and delicious. I had heard it tastes just like chicken but I can’t say I agree. I couldn’t put my finger on what to compare it to. The texture was similar to calamari(good cooked calamari). I definitely suggest you come try it here! Owner is very friendly and answers all your questions and curiosities about alligator meat. The food was very flavorful. Their coleslaw was 🤤🤤. The conch fritters were really good too. They have different dipping sauces and they were all delicious. Definitely a two thumbs 👍🏽👍🏽up!

Stopped with the family to try the gator bites. We including the kids loved the gator bites and the frog legs. The fried banana cheese cake was just out of this world

The Food are really fresh. I try the burger and the Philly steak and cheese and both are delicious. The atmosphere is nice and peaceful, watching the tomatoes plantations.
Good meal! You must try gator meat here
Down there for business from NY this past Monday, saw online and had to go try it out. Great cozy place, real friendly people, excellent food. Of course we had the gator, tender and juicy, great dipping sauce. Great fries with perfect seasoning, great home made slaw.
Absolutely LOVED this place! Friendly staff and great food. We were wishing we had this in Miami Beach. Decent prices for some decent food. Would eat here again. Seemed clean and up-kept. Bathrooms were clean too. Kinda out in the middle of nowhere but it was a great little find for us on a long travel day.
Ordered the gator basket and fries and both were made to order and tasted great. Really liked the sauce on the gator bites. Parking is out front, walk in to order, and there's some tables under a thatch covering on the side to enjoy the meal. Glad we stopped by after a day in the Everglades.
When researching our trip this place was recommended as a must stop. We were not disappointed. We tried the alligator tacos 🐊 🌮 and the Conch Fritters and fries 🍟. Both meals were delicious and I was genuinely surprised by the alligator. I would recommend stopping here for lunch when in or near the Everglades.
So glad my honey turned around and stopped here for a bite to eat. We were headed for the Everglades and I saw the spot and thought this is the perfect time to try gator. Anyone who says gator tastes like chicken has never had alligator! It's got a different consistency definitely not chicken. This establishment served it grilled with french fries and coleslaw. It's a small takeout kind of place or you can opt to eat in a little hot next to the building. They do have bathrooms which were clean.
I give 5 stars simply because it was a great experience. I tried Gator meat for the first time , I have tried the frog legs too . Both were good . The owner was super friendly, I went very late by 6 around the time they close , they were out of rice so he gave me a box of fries . The gator meat was like a combo of fish and chicken , there was nothing fishy tasting, bit rigid flesh . I tried the gator stir fry which was good . Frog, the gravy was very tasty the flesh tasted different, something like a fish with bones , slippery flesh , but I recommend getting frog fry . Drive to eat from there , support local businesses. It’s completely worth the drive .
We went yesterday with 6 people. All had a different meal. All the meals were absolutely amazing. Meat was tender, fries were great, sauces were good. The owner is amazing! Super sweet and made us feel at home. The food was made quickly. Would absolutely come back if we would live close.
Finally! I came back to Miami to visit family, and it was so hard to fund a place that sales alligator meat. However, two times after visiting the Everglades, I decided to give it a chance, and I am glad I did it! I tried the alligator sandwich and alligator bites. They were delicious. It is also affordable-ish. For that and a drink, it was $30.00. Food for a now and then out of the ordinary meal. The setting is family oriented. I loved it.
You'd be surprised by looking at the outside how yummy the food is on the inside. It's basically a small 15x15 foot structure. Blink and you'll miss it, so pay attention! Friendly staff. Friendly patrons. Come here before visiting Roberts so you don't fill up on shakes. The tacos were so good! And the cheeseburger sub (on the specials menu) was delicious.
Alright, my wife and I had never had Gator. We viewed Everglades Gator Grill online and thought we would give our first taste of Gator a try at this restaurant. I ordered the Gator Stir Fry. It was amazing!!! And the owner was very personable and professional. Personable as he talked with us as soon as we came through the door and made us feel welcome. Then we got our food and both meals, my wife went safe and got the BLT , were delicious. Cooked just right. Professional !! Great at his what he does ! Thanks and boy do I wish we lived closer. We would definitely come back.
Stopped here on our way to Everglades national park. The owner, who's also the cook was very friendly and ran the place all by himself (cooking and bringing the food to our table). The gator bites were well done, but a bit tough, which is apparently normal for gator meat. The conch friters were excellent though! Despite being next to a road, there's a great atmosphere, sitting under the gazebo and just enjoying the food and drinks.
Amazing gator bites. And a great variety of food for people who don't want gator bites. The mahi taco is great!
It was a family friendly place! It was very busy. There were families out on side by sides (UTV’s) stopping for dinner. Service was excellent. Food was delicious. I would go back!
We visited on a Thursday afternoon in late December 2024. The place was completely packed. You go into the store to order and they bring it out to you. We ordered take out so we waited inside but it was super crowded. We saw a couple groups show up and decide to leave after seeing the crowd. We were told 10-15 mins for our food and it definitely took almost 30. We also noticed no matter how many people showed up the gentleman behind the counter told everyone "10-15 mins". That started to annoy me every time he repeated it because the stream of people was constant and we still hadn't gotten our food. All it took was to set realistic expectation and respect peoples time. We had a appointment we were trying to get to and 15 mins would've been fine. We ended up being 15 mins late and felt really bad. We ordered: - Gator Bites (good; the minimum everyone should try) - Gator Caesar Salad (good; not worth price, get something else) - Gator Sandwich (kids ate it all so I don't know if it was good) - Mahi Sandwich (good; piece of fish was huge) - Chicken Tenders (youngest ate them and they looked good) - Gator Stir Fry (best; this was the one item I'd probably come back for) All the food was good. They are a bit pricey but there aren't many other options near by. We were headed from the Keys over to the Ernest Coe Visitor Center in the Everglades National Park. The Gator Stir Fry is the one item I would've probably went out of my way to come back to eat. If we were in South Florida again we would consider stopping here for sure. If you're passing by and you have 30 mins to spare, you won't be disappointed.
They do gator well, perhaps no surprises there. I rated 4 for food, 5 for Service and Atmosphere both. Loved the quaint and open atmosphere. Sat at the gazebo out front. Plenty of space for kids to run around and take in the nature. I tried their yellow rice on the side, good balance of spice and it was fresh, and no meat or meat broth in it. Tried the conch fritters, pretty decent along with handsome seasoned fries. I could see this place working great as a pit stop on the way or back from the Everglades. Restrooms were out of order, so they had portable toilets - not ideal for many people I imagine. Service was great, done with good care. Indoor and outdoor seating areas were clean and tidy. The high velocity fan at the gazebo was a nice touch. Will return for more...
An awesome little spot to stop for lunch! Great place to try gator for the first time. Fish sandwich is amazing as well! I used to come here every year when I worked in nascar.
Good place to have a bite. There is not much near the Park. Robert is Here has good smoothies and milk shakes. Everglades Gator Grill has good protein--loved my fresh grilled Mahi sandwich. Hubby liked the gator bites. Friendly, good service. Clean. Eat in at counter outside in tiki hut. Compares well to other spots in Florida City and Homestead.
We loved our experience here. The atmosphere is so fun. Beautiful murals and family feel. Shaded, breezy and comfortable tiki hut to eat under. The staff was very polite and helpful. They clearly have a chef that takes pride in his work. This was the best gator and fried pickles we have ever had. I’m very thankful we stopped for this flavor experience. You need to try this place!
I stopped by this place during my travel to Key West. I have to admit, when I first got my food, I was disappointed at the portion. We ordered the gator bites, which is about $12 for 7 small pieces, and gator tacos, which was about $17 for three small tacos. However, when I tasted them, I automatically understood why the price seemed high for the portion. Both were just delicious! This place is one of the few restaurants that sells grilled gator meat instead of the fried ones that you typically see. Some places have gator meat that's the size of your fingernail, and make it into a round fried ball. However, you just get authentic gator meat at this place. 5 stars for food, service, and atmosphere (though the outdoor dining has a lot of mosquitoes and insects that bite, so beware for that). The staff members were friendly - they greeted us kindly and came out to hand us our takeout. I will definitely return when I'm back in the area!
Food was great. Guy was very friendly & helpful. They serve not only gator, they have frog legs, shrimp, burgers, tacos..... full menu. Outdoor eating under a tiki pavilion.
The Everglades Gator Grill is a standout in Homestead, Florida, offering unique dishes like gator tacos, gator bites known for their tender texture and bold seasoning, and shrimp tacos, featuring fresh, perfectly cooked shrimp. These tacos are served with fresh toppings that enhance their flavor, making them a hit among locals and visitors. The relaxed, open-air atmosphere under a tiki-style hut adds to the appeal, making it a perfect spot for adventurous diners exploring the Everglades. It's a must-try for unique Floridian flavors
The food was fantastic and the owner Tattoo was awesome. Very friendly and after he was done cooking he came outside and helped me crack open a coconut. Great experience 10/10 recommend. If you're looking for great food and a great staff this is the place to go.
Had the Gator bites. Seasoning was amazing! Gator sauce was delicious! Tryed a fried banana cheesecake, it was awesome as well, not like a slice of cheesecake but a cheesecake roll that is fried. Very little place inside but has outdoor seating. Definitely stop and try some after seeing real alligators!!
Never tried gator before so this was a new experience. It was much better than I expected tasting like rougher chicken breast but not bad at all. The frog legs were a little slimy for my taste compared to ones I’ve had before. Service was quick.
A great spot for those wanting to try alligator meat after visiting an alligator farm. Unfortunately, we weren't too lucky that day, as there were a lot of people and a long line. We waited about 35 minutes after ordering, but it was definitely worth it to mark off trying alligator after visiting the farm. The main seating area is under a stylishly designed canopy, so it's better to sit in the shade; otherwise, it gets too hot in the sun. Overall, not bad!
Imagine to stop on the gas station somewhere on the middle of nowhere and by some crazy miracle they serve alligators meat there - this is how it feels. No hard feelings please It’s a fast food alligators meat stop, with general fast foods variety and frog legs, maybe I would return to try them. But to try alligators meat I would choose another place next time. Gato meat is good, it’s farm raised and on the google map you can see an alligator farm like 4 minutes away, I can assume that this is a place from where they got gato meat from. Beef sandwich was good also. For gato serving place it is lacking of authenticity. The seats are more like picnic wooden benches. On one side is a traffic road, on other private property plantations. All together it is simple, very affordable stop to eat gato or anything else super fast.
So gator isn't very good, I learned. I should have had the shrimp po boy. People are super friendly, menu is great, prices are competitive, and the picnic area is nice.
Gator meat kind of tastes like old chicken, an acquired taste I’d say. The seasoning and sauce on the gator bites is good tho. Takeout took around 15 mins, nice little shop
Cozy little spot with pretty decent food. I had a sub, and the taste was good — no complaints. My friend tried the alligator meat, but he couldn’t really make sense of the flavor. It had a slight fishy aftertaste (we know it’s not fish — ha!). He did enjoy the fries and salad, though. Overall, it’s a nice place with solid food for the area. The only downside was the lack of hospitality — the staff didn’t smile or seem very welcoming, which took away a bit from the experience.

Great spot to try gator meat after a trip in the Everglades. After a long day in the Everglades, my family and I were on the search for a place that served gator meat. Surprisingly, the options nearby were scarce, and the ones our tour guides recommended had low ratings. We wanted to find the best, so we ended up driving about an hour to try this place. My only prior encounter with gator meat was at a state fair (fried gator bites) Here, the specialty was grilled gator tails, and I expected them to be similar. Yet, the grilled version tasted more like chicken breasts, with a hint of earthiness in the aftertaste. My parents found the flavor off-putting, but the restaurant's special sauce—a blend of two mayo —helped mask the somewhat polarizing taste. Served with grilled peppers, onions, jalapeños, yellow rice, and a drizzle of that special sauce, the Gator Grill was reminiscent of a chicken burrito bowl from a local taqueria, which made it more enjoyable. We also tried the conch fritters and a hot dog, both of which were solid choices. The fried conch was mixed with batter that gave it a mushier texture than expected, and the conch was somewhat lost in the mix. So, if you’re feeling adventurous after your Everglades tour, take a drive and give this gator grub a go.
First timer with the family. We all had to try "gator" since we just finished checking out the alligator farm a few minutes away. My wife had the grilled gator tacos ( I tried a few bites, it was really good) and my daughter had the gator bites ( also good). I had the pulled pork and it was good, but I should have gotten the gator tacos instead of playing it safe. My son had the chicken strips and fries which were good. My kids and I were able to do some axe tossing/ dart throwing in the outdoor game area while we waited for the food. Limited indoor dining no big deal, eat outside in the covered area with pinic benches. GREAT service and GOOD food worth your time amd money. Skip the key lime pie.
An authentic, homestyle atmosphere in the Everglades. Seating is outdoors, and you'll hear country music playing. Prices for a variety of dishes are fair, and portions are large, though drinks are a little bit pricey. I ordered the stir fry, which could have used some more vegetables and less rice, but otherwise tasted good. If you're looking for a place to try alligator for the first time, this grill is a good choice.
Stopped by after our visit to Everglades park and got an alligator sandwich. It’s a bit pricy but the portion is pretty big: lots of fries, fresh and hot; the sandwich itself contains several pieces of gator meat, which taste similar to chicken breast but juicer. I think it’s gator meat is worth trying if you’ve never had it.
There are a couple stools inside at a munch counter. But the rest of the eating is outside under shaded tiki hut or on sunny patio. Peter there are cute little lizards running around food is excellent little spicy, sweet staff, extremely clean kitchen, which is viewed when you’re paying. Just pick your soda water out of the refrigerated case. There is a handicap ramp watch your head walking in. It’s a slow ceiling. This will be fun for kids. There are lawn games. Super casual. We had a lot of fun hubby had the BLT. It was excellent I had the shrimp poboy. Fabulous. We had the gator bites appetizer, which does come with fries and coleslaw.
Fries were over seasoned, couldn't eat them. And for 2 people it was like 40 plus change???? No thank you. Beautiful place for pictures. Not the food
Had to try gator while in the glades. Was bland, idk what I expected, but felt it could have been cooked better. The service was good. I like the outdoor dining area and the silly signs around. I don’t know if I’d eat gator again or not, but probably at a different locale if I did, this is a once while nearby type place for me.
Food tastes pretty amazing, but the quantity was less than expected. Not sure if gator meat is expensive so I might be wrong. Definitely worth trying.
The Everglades Gator Grill was a unique experience. Having toured the Everglades, I wanted to try eating alligator. This seemed like a perfect opportunity. The facility is in an area with farms and plant nurseries. As the name implies, they do serve alligator meat. I purchased a Caesar salad with alligator bites on top of the salad. The alligator had a good flavor, it was moist and a little chewy. It had a little spice on it as well. I enjoyed the meal. One of my dining companions had a grilled cheese sandwich and conch chowder. The cheese sandwich had two kinds of cheese and she said it was excellent. The conch chowder was also very good. An order is placed at the counter. The menu is above the counter. The lady taking the order was very helpful and friendly. The same person was making some of the salads and sandwiches and was also serving some of the meals. The dining area is primarily in a thatched roof outdoor pavilion. It was comfortable, there was a slight breeze and weather was in the 80's. We bussed our own table. For those who live in a city, don't let the rural atmosphere deter a visit to this small, intimate restaurant.

Nice little place running by just one person, so expect a little bit of waiting during busy hours. But man, that guy was super efficient and was literally dashing back and forth! Food was good, but not eye opening and the portion was small. If you've never tried gator before, this place is recommended. However, personally, I think Cajun styled gators taste better.
Gator bites are an acquired taste, not bad for the first time trying them. This is a nice little roadside place with outdoor seating.
Definitely worth a try. Alligator bites were not bad, though the aftertaste may feel off. Honestly not the most tasty food. Unlikely returning.
The food, service, and atmosphere were absolutely incredible. The guy who runs the place is a really genuine good person. The gator is absolutely delicious. I am definitely coming here again. The only minor complaint I have is, there is not enough gator in the dish I ordered. There should've been a lot more for the price. Other than that it was amazing.

Came here to try the famous gator bites and was pleasantly surprised that the texture and taste were actually quite similar to chicken. The place feels more like a fast-food style spot, quick and casual. Overall, it was a fun experience, though I wish there were more veggie options on the menu.
Let's start with the food its not the traditional gator or frog legs. Pay attention its a grill. The frog legs had very little flavor. They are not liked fried frog legs at all. They are tender but not that tasty. The gator bites not to my liking or my wife's. We both thought they were dry and lacking flavor. Service was friendly but food is lacking. If you eaten fried gator or frog legs in Louisiana or Texas you most likely will not like these... Plenty of outside seating but some seats are in the sun. Very few seats inside out of the heat.
Gator Grill Bites 8/10 Mahi Tacos 6/10 Shrimp Tacos 6.5/10 Food was a little pricey for quality & quantity, but gator was really good Pretty quick service & kind people Outside seating only, few bar seats inside

This places serves Gator meat, hamburgers and frog legs. Gator meat was slightly chewy and stastes like a chicken that smells like fish. I tried frog legs for the first time. I would say you haven’t missed out life if you haven’t eaten these meats. It’s meh tbh. But the people who work there are very kind and friendly.
First time here gator sandwich was very tasty coleslaw was good fries coulda been alot better was a bit pricey at $15 doesn't even include drink :( Customer service was not bad. You can sit inside or enjoy the weather outside. Something different if you're in the mood for some gator.
Got ripped off — receipt deceitfully included a huge service fee, and on top of that, the server did not return any change (we paid in cash). The gator bites were small ($17) and we ended up paying $40 somehow. We thought this would be a cute spot that focused on gators and the local ecosystem, but instead it was extremely loud music with all adults. Be prepared to speak Spanish — from the staff, music, and patrons. We were hoping for Monroe Country vibes but got Dade.
Price: $19.21 for a sandwich and fries Wait: 45+ minutes Food: Mediocre; fast-food level I understand gator is on the brain after visiting Everglades National Park, which I guess is why this place remains popular - they sell gator to eat right outside the park. But trust me, the novelty of this gimmick wears off quickly when you’re slapped with a huge bill, long wait time, and obnoxious environment. I wish I would’ve saved my money and eaten fast food - I would’ve received more food for less money, got my food much faster, and have a better place to eat it. There’s a reason that gator isn’t a mainstream meal anyway: it’s not that good. I didn’t like that the staff told everyone it would be a 10 minute wait time. Customers exchanged angry glares after standing at the counter for over 45 minutes just to receive a simple sandwich and fries.
