My favorite. Have been going many years. Enchiladas verde are the best
Nice people, the food is great, I love it here!
Greay family restaurant . .. amazing food prices are fair wonderful costumer service
Good food, Good beer, Great service above and beyond!
Always a family favorite, great food, great service.
Pretty great food and good portions. Definitely recommend to others I would eat here again.
The food here is amazing and the staff are extremely friendly. This is a very family friendly restaurant and I will be returning!
Best damn Mexican food from here to Texas. Take it from A Texan this place even beats most Texas Mexican restaurants!!! Love it! My wife and I found our spot!
I loved the food here especially the chiles rellenos, the waiter was polite and a lot of families came in to eat when i was there
Great food, fast, and friendly. Very good sized portions. Will definitely visit again.
Great Mexican Food! Their Salsa and Guacamole is really good! I always order the 3 carnitas tacos and they are delicious!
Awesome traditional mexican food. Street tacos are perfect. Chili relleno la verde should be on the menu and not just a special.
We love this local spot!
Been there 5 times tried 7 different foods and everything is tasty best place in town
Delicious food with a wonderfully accommodating waitress!! I really couldn't get enough of this place! I will be back over and over again!!
If you want authentic mexican food, then this is the place to go to! i absolutely love everything they offer
Great Place to eat ... Large Drinks of Horchata Food was delicious & Quick ... Definitely coming back .very inviting
Never disappointed. Friendly 'mom and pop' tlvibe with authentic Mexican food. Horchata is real good.
Great place for fresh, authentic Mexican food at very affordable prices. They treat customers like family!
Great food and reasonable prices! The owner was also very nice!
ALWAYS love their food! My personal favorite Mexican restaurant.
Large portions with fast service and great food. Cant love the place anymore.
Iam from Houston tx.this place is real and very authentic.reminds me of all the Mexican restaurant in htown.charles Taylor.
Very clean and freshly made food. Definitely recommend
Great food fast service. Nice family restaurant.
The food here is outstanding! Love this place.
Second time visiting. Food is excellent, and service is very personal. All the other customers were Hispanic, which testifies to the authenticity. You won't easily find a dining experience this good for the price.
We've been going here for a decade and love it. The enchaladas are amazing with mole rojo, pablano, or suizas. Authentic and family owned and operated, you can't get this level of quality and care from a chain.
none of the bells and whistles of other surrounding mexican spots. that said; food is superior, staff are friendly and quick, prices are significantly cheaper. the menu has plenty of variety and there are plenty of import beers to pick from. best mexican i have had between orange and sullivan county. suggestion : torta de carnitas 🔥🔥🔥!
So delicious!!! The lady who took our order was very helpful and sweet. Thank you for the wonderful food... made my trip 😋
Definitely recommend their burritos and sea food soup. It's a cozy little hope in the wall with a charming atmosphere and pleaplea wait staff. A top contender if eating Mexican In the Middletown area
Edit: Was here last week, and it is still as good as it was 3 years ago. Authentic Mexican food. In a friendly environment. Original post: I crown thee, tied for best Mexican Food in Orange County. It is very good, as good as Juarez Restaurant in Newburgh. Searching for "Authentic Mexican" the family had grown tired of the cookie cutter local Mexican restaurants Bandido, Hacienda, Azteca, they all have the same menus! Albeit with slight variations in flavor. Tapatio is a fantastic taqueria, you can drink horchata, or agua de jamaica. You order a Chicken Chimi, and it is stuffed with chicken, no fillers, like rice and beans. Reminds me of Mexican you get in California!!! Will definitely return to try other menu items...
Excellent! Food was delicious. Quality ingredients, good service. I'd you like Mexican food, I highly recommend.
The decor is beautiful and the staff are very friendly and attentive 😁 I had the guacamole and some soup, and it was DELICIOUS. I highly recommend giving these guys a try!
We stopped here for lunch during a 7 hour road trip. We ordered take out - 2 very delicious burritos! The food came out quick and the food was great.
After being severely hung over from a bottle of vodka (friend is moving back to italy) I couldn’t even stand. This place bought me back to life! The micheladas we’re so bomb and the right kind of spicy. So happy to have found this place! I’m in westchester but my bestie recently moved up here so I’m excited to come back & visit and snag another miche. Also the young lady was so sweet. 20/10 🤍💁🏻♀️
The nopales burrito is absolutely delicious. I'm vegan and the staff was happy to help me make my meal vegan. I added rice and guac to my burrito and left out the sour cream and cheese. So good I ate it two days in a row while in town for work. Ask for hot sauce too if you like spicey!
Always a pleasure to eat here. I had actually been a regular here years ago (at least once or twice a week) but hadn"t been here in a few years. I decided to come back for a dinner and was surprised to see a total remodel with a very casual and cozy atmosphere. The food, as always, is delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine. Some people are a bit too accustomed to the typical "Americanized" Mexican restaurants and dont know "real: Mexican food.. This is where you get the real deal food. Great staff in general and our server was awesome. Thanks for the great meal.
Every Friday night was Pork Burrito night!! Served with rice and beans! Delicious salsa! A treat, for the end of the work week! The restaurant itself, is nothing fancy, but, who cares! The food is good, the staff is friendly, and we are there for the food!! Try it, you'll like it!
I used to regard Mexican cuisine as one of my least favorite gastronomies until I sat down at El Tapatio. Their seasoning is perfect every time and with any selection. I will keep returning and trying different items from the menu.
Understated and cheery "Casa of Flavor" family owned restaurant. Antonio the chef/owner will prepare a very tasty meal off their menu or just about anything Mexican you'd like to eat at a great price. Service is awesome! Must try it!!
They have redecorated this restaurant. Looks beautiful. All the tables and chairs have pictures painted on them. The food was excellent. Milanesa steak. Pollo mole poblano. We have been going there for years. Nice to be back.
Best tacos in Middletown and priced affordably, friendly staff. I’ve been living here for 9 months and finally found not a decent taco spot, but amazing. I’ll definitely be back to try the torts. So yummy.
Owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, vibes were great, food was even better. Def get the birria tacos!
I had the most AMAZING Whole Fried fish here. The food was absolutely incredible. The rice and beans perfection and the nicest dressed side salad. The inside was so cute, the hand made tables and chairs were beautiful and comfortable. I will definitely be back again. Shout out to the owner who i believe is also the cook for a fabulous dinner!
Every time I come here the food is always very good. Very fresh. Plated very nicely. The place is always clean. I have been coming here for a long time. I prefer it over all the other places. Very nice people and a home like atmosphere. Glad I got to stop in today too !!!
Best Mexican food in town. The owner himself is the cook, so he definitely puts an effort into making delicious meals!
Staff is very nice and food isn’t too pricy
The food in this small restaurant is delicious! The owner is always supervising the kitchen and adding his personal touch to every meal. If you want real authentic Mexican food, then this is the place to be.
So glad our friend found this pretty place on Google. The waitress was so welcoming & sweet. The food was so good & presented beautifully. Definitely will come back next time we're in the area, coming back from Sonic Temple fest. Wish we had this in CT!
Food was good and came up pretty fast. The drinks were good we had the glass bottle sodas. Only thing I couldn't add up was the bill. I think the sodas were a bit steep. For 2 drinks and my meal was like 23 bucks. But the food was good the servers were on point. Definitely recommend
Loved it! I'd stolen a bit of friends takeout over the years and had no idea what the meal was, but I can tell you now after sitting down and eating here that the shredded chicken chimichanga is out of control. My friend got loaded nachos and they were great, too! The restaurant itself had a great ambiance, the staff were quick and friendly, and the prices were reasonable. I'm definitely going to be coming back here more often.
Fantastic food and great owner! (Chorizo is homemade!!) Power went out when we were there and they could not process a CC. Owner told us it was okay to come back later, as we didn’t have enough cash. (Way cool) Only suggestion would be to update the menu prices. Thanks again!!!!
Great tasting food. No bad prices.
Ordered food to go from here. The food was good and the servings were generous. The atmosphere was nice and the staff was friendly.
The food is good. Authentic median food. Good sit in place with the family.
It was my first time there with my family. The waitresses were very helpful and patience. The food was delicious. I would definitely go back again. Thanks.
Best place to catch World Cup & a cold Corona. We just relocated from Texas and we're in desperate need of some rice & beans and Chips & Salsa. Certainly not a fine dining Texmex restaurant, but fresh made enchiladas steaming off the plate sided with a hard taco vs "crispy taco" I usually order, over all an absolutely perfect lunch to catch a Cup game, grab a cold Corona and escape the heat, if only for a bit. We will be back. If you visit, tell the waitress I won my bet, 3-1 Russia over Egypt!
Honestly it is a really really good restaurant I highly recommend there tacos de bistec and torta de milanesa and honestly I've had nothing but good experiences coming here and will be coming back in the future for the good service and the good food.
Its a small warm restaurant, the service was great they show they care about there customers, the art on the walls, the table it was very 🙂 lovely... The food was very good, and my family love everything from the chicken to the taco's even the french fries! Try out and see for your self 😉
I ordered Barbacoa Tacos, Steak Tacos, and Birria Tacos while my girlfriend ordered the Shrimp Ceviche Tostados. My girlfriend loved her food. The tacos were all pretty good although some of the steak was a bit tough and under flavored and some of the cilantro was browned and withered. Aside from that I was happy with our food! (We also got the guacamole but it's pretty similar everywhere you go - this place could add a little spice to help the flavor profile). The service was good although the food coming out (we ordered pickup via GrubHub) was slow. We had to wait an extra 10 or 15 minutes. The atmosphere seemed great from what I could tell. Tables were full and there was energy. This was kind of hindered with the long line to the register to ask for my food. Overall I'm a fan of their food and would suggest it to someone looking for good Mexican.
The food was very good, the buche tacos were phenomenal. The server was a young woman and she was very kind! The couple who seem to own the place were very accommodating. The only reason why this isnt a full 5 star rating which the food definitely deserves, is we worked up a sweat eating there for about 15 minutes. It was scorching in there! But the winter is just getting out, so maybe they just need to smack the AC back to life!
Ok steak tacos overcooked tuft guacamole no flavor and a bit pricey. Clean place though
Staff was friendly. Food was okay. Ambiance was terrible. The restaurant is ugly outside and in. The booths offer no privacy at all. The food was okay. Some of it was fresh, some of it was straight from a can. The deluxe nachos were pretty tasty, but not great. We got a cheese quesadilla which was also okay. The chips they serve are flavorless, but I've had worse. The salse they served was nothing great, but again, I've had worse. This place is very okay.
I've had better tasting & prepared TACOS at other restaurants.
Sadly not impressed. I got the chicken quesadilla with rice and beans. The beans were refried and very runny with a mush consistency. The rice was low quality with little flavor and just a sprinkle of what appears to have been a frozen bag of mixed vegetables. I got it to go, and when I opened it half the quesadilla was drowned in the bean mush which made it soggy. Overall a waste. I've gotten better quality with black beans, quality rice, quac and sour cream (of which there was none) for the same price in Manhattan and Queens. Although the shredded chicken inside the quesadilla was good on it's own. Disappointing overall.
They had enfestations several food violations
I read the good reviews and went there. The service was just ok. The guacamole was horrible (black and bitter) the chips are tasteless and very cold and the chicken was tasteless too. Not worthy.
Food is good but service is not. This happens often enough we probably won't go again. I ordered a cheese quesadilla and repeated it several times so it would not be messed up and instead I got a chicken quesadilla. Also found a bone in the chicken. My husband had fajitas with no tortillas. This happened in the past so we wanted to give it another try but unfortunately we won't be coming again. Check your food if you're picking up before you leave !
Just left the place, overall i am not happy with the service tonight. Lady was on her phone instead of paying attention. When taking the order didn’t write anything down and got my mom’s order wrong. Never came over to offer us more drinks. When i went up to tell her i wanted a refill she said she would bring it over and forgot to bring one of the drinks, when i went up to tell her she gave me a nasty look. I feel like it was highly over priced for what we ordered. The food could definitely be better.
Dried out tacos no flavor and lime was even dried out . So mad I spent $40 on tacos
It was terrible and overpriced literally taste like something made a shelter that tries 29$ for 4 tacos that where absolutely unappetizing and a chicken sandwich that was made on a piece of bread found in Walmart sandwich was the only somewhat appetizing thing from here best taco spot is on north street
Dude charged us 8$ A TACO WHEN IT CLEARLY SAYS 3 TACOS FOR 7.95$…. RIP OFF
Bad service and bad food and the price it's so high ,not good
No matter how good the food is you discriminated against me and charged me $3 over menu price for 1 item and then rolled your eyes when I didn’t tip for take out. You shouldn’t treat Caucasian people bad from out of town I never did anything to you
Please double check your uber eats deliveries !!!! I ordered a seafood combination soup and a mexican coke; the coke is missing, no napkins and neither a spoon !!
Wont feed this stuff to my dogs. Everything is too dry Nut cooked properly or over cooked left overs This is by far the worst Mexican restaurant in orange county ny. You have a better shot getting eatten by a shark then eating this place. Where the health department?????
Ordered a fried fish paid $17 and it was horrible, drenched in old oil and tasted very bad. Felt like i was eating old oil and not fish it was bland and had no taste to it. I threw it in the garbage. $17 down the drain. Don’t order this $ here
Don’t waste your $$ first time here will be my last. portion 👎🏻 food dry and tasteless .
Beef Bistec tacos was not seasoned. Also worst tres leches ever by far. Cake was hard and tasted so stale.
I wanted hard tacos. They gave me round tacos that look like egg rolls with sour cream and tomatoes on top of all three rather than in the shell. Then I find out the price was11.99, not 7.99 and asked for my money back. Register girl says no, you touched it. I say you are stealing from me. She acted very angry and practically threw my money back at me.
The chick that works the front is totally unprofessional. So is the nasty guys that work in the kitchen. Saw the guy making our food also cleaning and eating without washing his hands. We said something about and instead of them saying sorry the place exploded into an argument. I’ve been there before and the food was suspect but I decided to give another chance and this is what we got. Hell no, never again will I eat or anybody else i know eat at this nasty place! Rude as heck on top of it all!
Table of 3 Adults for Dine-In and a HUGE surprise when asked for bill and saw I was charged $6+ tax for the 2 tap waters I asked for after 5 other beverages were ordered before hand lol. I asked owner if he really charged for tap water and he shrugged with crossed arms and very ill-mannered responded with "Well I have to pay water bill here in restaurant.", lol this was a first for me and I couldn't help but burst out laughing in shock lol especially considering our total bill came to $80 (with our cut of his water bill OF COURSE lol ). G2b glad he didn't add the ESPN subscription for watching the game they had on as well I guess lol. Overall service was great, his daughter was very sweet and attentive. Food on the other hand was not good not to mention the UNEXPECTED UTILITY add on.
No sure if the lady in the front is the owner but she’s beyond rude! Ordered 3 pancitas today & they tasted like water, looks like they were short so they added water & of course it lost its season. Payed $62 for water. Smh! 👎🏼
*** Found a roach*** crawling across the table while we were eating. Food should have been free because of this but yet we paid full price. Waitress was very apologetic and food was good but I wish we never sat down in there.
Our order was incorrect things missing also had chicken quesadillas they had absolutely no flavor not good at all. Just shredded chicken nothing else at all. The worst I have ever had.
Eat at your own risk! Witnessed unclean/ungloved hands reaching into lettuce buckets and tomato bowls by staff. Disgusting and I won’t be back. Hostess was rude as well. There is a quality Mexican restaurant not far from this one named Frontera or eat at the Chinese place next door. I will no longer patronize establishments that do not make an attempt to keep customers safe. If you place value on avoiding a hospital visit for food poisoning, DO NOT eat here. Food grade=F Customer Service=F Value=F OVERALL=F
Originally went for the fried fish but found out it wasb farm raised. While deciding to choose something order or leave, a beer bottle falls n breaks in the kitchen which we can see the workers were drinking. I tell the cashier taking orders that I can't have dairy no cheese because she suggested empanadas so I decided to get beans and rice. She said they don't do black beans, refried pinto beans...I was not positive about it but after speaking then I said ok...I get back to hotel only to find cheese is sprinkled all over my food, I couldn't eat it called back and the same girl who took the order had a nasty attitude " what do you want me to do about it?" So I asked to speak to manager who was worst. The guy was dismissive and said I couldn't get my $5 back they can give me a credit. I told him I'm not from around here but he suggested it for my next visit. I stressed that I was going to return it and wanted my money back. He said okay fine then hungs up the phone. Very rude terrible customer service and a friend who ordered said the food wasn't authentic, wasn't great
Food was okay, I ordered the molcajete it came in a sour cream tub which I thought was not presentable. My order did not come with rice and beans. I also ordered an order of tacos. The price online is different than in person I felt like I was overcharged. For those two items I paid almost 50$.
Just ate here with my husband and 3 month old baby. Waitress handed my husband the check with her name (VIVIAN) and phone number on the back. Very classy.
Beef soup was tasteless. Rice was reheated so many times it smelled like Smokey rice, that usually means it is old. I will not be coming back to this place. Don’t know how it got 4.2 stars. They got better restaurants in New Jersey where I am from. Don’t recommend this place. Sorry.
This would be my first review on any restaurant, and first and last time eating here. Beginning with the chips and salsa, the salsa disappointed me right away it had no flavor at all wasn’t spicy nor sweet it just didn’t taste like anything. It was no big deal at that moment but then I got my drink which was agua de horchata and same thing happened no flavor at all and not sweet either. We then got our appetizer which were nachos “deluxe”. Worst nachos ever. Again the flavors weren’t their, the only thing that had flavor was the guacamole on top at this point I was very nervous on how the actual meal would be like. When I received the molcajete it didn’t look to bad but when I tried it. NO FLAVOR. The meat wasn’t the best either it had like 3 slices of chicken and the rest was all chewy nerves of the chicken and other meats which I dislike. The salsa in it, FLAVORLESS. Definitely not worth the $26. Everything tasted like nothing worst feeling when you’re hungry. When we got our check I was stunned by how much all this had came out too. My total was $60 the only thing I wasn’t sure about the price was the nachos so I decided to ask the waitress how much where they she said 17.99. $18?! For a small amount of chips with canned beans sour cream, cheese and guacamole, mind you this is not a fancy restaurant theirs several of other small Mexican restaurants within 3 min away that I’ve tried and I’ve ordered the same thing and my total has never been this much. After I left the place I decided to search up the menu to see the prices and it turns out on their menu it shows nachos are $14.95. I also decided to read the reviews on this place and came across a couple saying this restaurant likes to overcharge their customers and now I can agree with that. Service and staff was good. Just terrible terrible food. This is coming from a Mexican so I am familiar with the foods and flavors. Don’t waste your money and time coming to this place.
