We had an amazing experience with Haveli! I called them to cater our event and the people and process were so impressive and helpful. And the food was out of this world! I picked up food for fifty people, meat GF and vegan options and everyone was raving. Apps were lamb samosas and veg pakoras (my fave), garlic and regular naan (best I’ve ever had), Chana masala, kumbucher salad, aloo gobi, chicken tikka masala, lamb Josh Rogan, plus regular and jira rice. There were barely any leftovers! People going back for seconds!

Food was delicious, we got a free appetizer- the Haveli Special Naan, which we had never tried before. The service was great too, we came on a Sunday evening and it was the busiest I’ve ever seen it. But the staff kept up and the manager came by and asked us how our meal went which was very thoughtful. Nice, friendly atmosphere, good music. Other guests also seemed very satisfied with their experience!

Amazing food! I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. Went last night with my dad to pick up takeout and got there a little early so we were seated and treated to roti and wine while we waited. Wonderful people, food, and service!

Absolutely wonderful and tasty. Never rushed. We were there most recently as a big group for a birthday. The timing is so perfect. They give you ample time to just really enjoy a family meal. Chit chat, and laugh. I appreciate the family time they provided.

Had a blast at the Grand Buffet New Year’s Day! The food was amazing and the vibe was so positive! We go every year because it is such a great way to start the year. This is also just our favorite Indian in town. The buffet always has a lot of vegetarian options!

Love this place. The best Indian place around. Food is always super authentic and delicious. Much more flavorful and colorful then the other places. I haven't had anything here that wasn’t delicious. Pro tip: order extra as all of it reheats great the next day.

Really lovely restaurant!! The service was great and the food came out surprisingly quick. The manager/owner was incredibly nice and made sure we were happy with our meals. Their naan is very good! Highly recommend. If you like spicy food, definitely get the hot spice level. The medium was not as spicy as I was hoping, but still delicious! (pictured is their butter chicken)

My favorite Indian spot in CT. Food always delicious and always excellent service. My go to favorite is the saag paneer. The tandoor chicken salad is also generously portioned and the tomato soup (always super hot) is the easily the best tomato soup I've ever had. I haven't tried the buffet, but I'm generally not into buffets. Such a great place.

We love the weekend luncheon buffet...enough to make it worth the hour drive for us to get there! The selection is well laid, tasty and varied, the service is excellent, and the price is great! Be sure to request their fresh, hot naan bread.

I don't normally write reviews but I needed to write this one. We arrived as a medium sized party 4 adults and 2 kids. Although we were seated right away my toddler was not having it and wanted to tour the restaurant. When he eventually settled the staff was very friendly with the less than cooperative little person and super friendly. We ordered and our food and drinks were all great. The staff checked on us frequently and tried to entertain the 3 year old that made other patrons think about their choices to have children of their own. Although our meal was great and the company was great the ready to leave and eat his chicken kabob in the parking lot toddler had enough. We were able to speak with the manager while he visited our table and we all laughed about the crazy 3 year old. Sorry to other patrons there if we interrupted your meal, we were all small once and 3 year olds have no impulse control. Overall we look forward to going back again but not maybe letting the no nap toddler have a nap for the sake of being a little more under control. cheers.

Sunday buffet, the restaurant had a large number of customers (1 PM) when I visited. The food was excellent, authentic taste in the Northern (mostly) India style. Spices are balanced, flavors are nuanced, subtle and distinct. The restaurant staff are very friendly and attentive. The building is very picturesque. Very wide selection some of the most popular Indian culinary dishes, chutneys, desserts, etc. Overall, a very good value. I worked in India for a few months, this restaurant would do as well there as it seems to be doing here in CT, the style is very well represented. Highly recommended, kudos to the staff.

Haveli India in Middletown, CT, is hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had! The food is absolutely fantastic—authentic, flavorful, and made with such care. The service goes far beyond 5 stars; every visit feels like being welcomed into a family. The staff is incredibly warm, attentive, and genuinely makes you feel at home. I’ve been here multiple times, and each visit is better than the last. This is my go-to spot for amazing Indian cuisine, and I’ll definitely keep coming back. Highly recommend!

Where do I start? The restaurant is both casual and neat, making it safe to dress up or dress decent and casual. There’s soft Indian music that plays in the background that’s not too loud but just the right volume. The inside is very clean, very neat, unlike other restaurants around Middletown I’ve been to. Clean tables, floor, and bathroom which are all good signs. The art on the walls and the dark lighting setting make it great for families, dates, and warmful friends. It feels so cultured. The atmosphere feels like family. Some foods ordered are served out in pots and makes you feel like you get a homelike experience. The food was phenomenal. It was better than expected. Tender season chicken. Thick warm naan. The sauce was amazing. And every meal was filling. It will get you full fast! The food is absolutely worth the price. I was cautious of Indian food but was surprised to learn there are many different flavors and the menu is high variety. The dishes also come out fast. The staff are welcoming and generous. They often check up to make sure everything is to your liking. You can reserve table to eat with the family. They will also sing you happy birthday or host catering. Its not too crowded to enjoy a meal. It was indeed a learning experience. It’s also good to support local businesses and family owned restaurants such as this. I loved it and I will be coming back soon!

The weekend lunch buffet is cheap compared to other places. The tandoori chicken is good; it’s not very juicy, but the flavor is good with a strong charred smell. The rest of the dishes are okay. If you live nearby, it’s a good option, but if you need to drive over 30 minutes like me, then it’s not worth it.

We stopped here on our way from Massachusetts, it’s not too far from the highway. It’s a charming spot, I would definitely return if I lived closer. The food was good ( a couple of dishes were a little salty, so make note of that). We heard another customer mention this to the waiter as well. The portions are ample and the space was clean. We were treated kindly. Thank you.

Truly an experience of its own. Going from never tying any Indian food to eating it 4-6 times a month says something. Service and dining in is top notch, very clean and the staff is so helpful and friendly. The depth and flavor of the food is beyond comparison to many dishes available today. My go to dish will always be a lamb samosa, butter chicken ( with a side of rice ) and the garlic naan. So far all the naan I’ve had here is the best in the state. Will be returning again for buffet. . PS

This was my first visit to Haveli India & it was pleasant. The staff was nice, the venue was clean and spacious. The food was hot & fresh. The portion size is also very good for an takeout order. Enough to feed 2

From the moment we walked in, we felt like regulars—even though it was our very first visit. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, offering prompt service with genuine smiles and thoughtful attention throughout our meal. The buffet was very reasonably priced, and the menu was clear and easy to navigate, making the whole experience effortless and enjoyable. Our first visit turned out to be a truly fun and outstanding experience, and we can’t wait to come back!

Perfectly serviceable small town Indian food. A CT small town 10, but a big city 5. I liked that they provided many sauces as that added a lot more flavor. Overall though they play it very safe with the spices added to the meals.

This is not what good Indian food is like. It tastes as if cooked from frozen. There’s no flavor. The staff was nice, but they’re extra nice to non-Indian people. If you want good Indian food, please don’t go here.

I’m really disappointed with my recent visit. This place used to be good, but not anymore. The Haveli platter was the worst dish we tried — the taste and quality were very poor. On top of that, the service was not good at all and the staff didn’t seem attentive. Overall, not a good place to go anymore. Definitely not the experience it used to be.

Ordered Hakka noddles for toddlers asked for no spice. It was spicy and they argued that it was very mild. Toddlers don’t tolerate 3 tablespoons of black pepper in food

I usually don’t write reviews, but my experience at Haveli was so appalling that I feel compelled to warn others. I came in later in the evening after calling ahead to confirm that dining in was allowed. The person on the phone assured me it was fine — yet when we arrived, we were met with the most unwelcoming attitude I’ve ever encountered at a restaurant. The waitress, instead of greeting us politely, immediately began rushing and scolding us. Her exact words included, “Why did you come so late?” and “It’s our cleaning time — order quickly.” Not only was this unprofessional, it was downright rude. If the kitchen was closing soon, they could have easily mentioned that over the phone instead of making us feel like an inconvenience for showing up. We weren’t looking for special treatment, just basic courtesy and respect — both of which were completely absent. Then came the food, which somehow managed to be even worse than the service. The garlic naan had a pungent, unpleasant odor — it genuinely smelled spoiled or improperly stored. The butter chicken was swimming in excessive ghee, making it unbearably greasy and heavy. And the vindaloo? A disaster. The spices were completely off — bitter, unbalanced, and nothing close to authentic. It felt like someone tossed random ingredients together without understanding the dish. As someone from South Asia who grew up surrounded by real Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine, I can confidently say this was not representative of our food or culture. The flavors were wrong, the texture was off, and the presentation looked careless. Even the aroma — which should be the soul of an Indian meal — was missing. Haveli tries to pass itself off as an authentic Indian restaurant, but in truth, it feels like a half-hearted imitation run by people who have either lost touch with what Indian cuisine actually is or simply don’t care. The name Haveli should represent warmth, hospitality, and a sense of home. Instead, this place delivered cold service, oily food, and an overall experience that bordered on disrespectful. By the end of the night, I genuinely felt embarrassed that I had brought friends here. What was supposed to be a pleasant dinner turned into an exercise in frustration. We left most of the food untouched, and even then, the staff seemed irritated that we were still sitting at the table. To put it bluntly, Haveli is one of the worst so-called “Indian restaurants” I’ve ever been to — and I say that as someone who takes pride in my heritage and has eaten at countless South Asian establishments across the U.S. This was not just a bad meal; it was a complete failure of hospitality and culinary standards. Save your money and go literally anywhere else. There are plenty of places that serve real, heartfelt Indian food with dignity and respect. Haveli is not one of them.

I don't know where to begin because this was NOT a good experience for us. We went there for dinner and ordered several items. We were served the complimentary papad (which was good), ordered mango lassi (good), salt lassi (okay) and chai (good). The gobhi manchurian was what spoiled the experience beyond repair. We are vegetarians and my daughter found a chicken piece in it. She lost her appetite and could not eat anything else. The server said a very half-hearted sorry and basically nothing else. We didn't make a fuss about it, but it soured the customer experience for us - I don't even know what they could have done to make it right. But my point is that they didn't even try - which shows how much they care. And this also shows that they don't really make the effort to keep things separate for vegetarians. We had the garlic naan (very thick, felt uncooked), kadai paneer (very so-so) and Momos (it was not very good, but okayish). WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO VEGETARIANS.
