I had an amazing time at this restaurant. The ambiance was delightful from the moment I walked in, with a great atmosphere and warm hospitality. The waiter was really engaging and very helpful, making our first experience wonderful. The food was phenomenal. I can’t wait to return. Thank you to everyone who made it special.

It's simply amazing. I ordered the fried chicken, the glaze was sweet, and the chicken was crispy. Paired with some creamy mashed potatoes and some tasty baked beans. I just moved to the area and so far this place takes the cake. Great value on price here as well.

My husband wanted to go for a Sunday drive and late lunch today due to the break in the rainy weather. As he was craving really good barbecue, he did a bit of research and found this awesome place, @tainosmokehouse in Middletown, CT. Not only was the food amazingly delicious and a great value for the amount you get, but we had the most wonderful, knowledgeable and sweet service from Amy W. Thank you for the tasty recommendations and yes, you were right...the 2 Meat combo is enough food for 2 starving hungry "good eaters". I mean, ee had leftovers to bring home! My favorite is their collard greens, their corn bread and their brisket (*mentioned this as the Google beta on items to recommend didn't have these), and, their house barbecue sauce. The other dishes we had there, like the baked beans, pulled pork, and their house sausage with fried onions and mustard are all very delicious. My husband also loved their BBQ egg rolls with their house made jalapeno ranch dressing. Plus, they offer a seasonal Mason jar dessert which, for the current season, is a bourbon peach confection with sponge cake, whipped cream and a caramel sauce. There ate so many other delicious looking menu items that we will be back in to try in the future as well (my money is on their burgers, the Texas chili, snd their giant brownie). If you want great barbecue in Connecticut, come here. And, take my advice, the beautiful outdoor patio dining area is the perfect place to enjoy the food. Trust me, the ambiance is relaxing and worth it.

This is a takeout review. All food is eaten promptly in the vehicle. I had the Eggrolls, chili, and a smokehouse burger. The Eggrolls were nicely different with a unique combination of food in them. The flavor was very good. The burger was excellent, great flavor with quality meat. The chili was some of the best and most flavorful I have ever experienced. It was just amazing. On a scale from 0-10 I would rate this 9.4.

The fried chicken was crispy and flavorful. The Cajun fries aren’t to spicy but do have a kick at the end. The brisket was delicious and tender. The Cajun shrimp was tasty as well. The outside patio was beautiful and we look forward to our next visit.

Fantastic BBQ! Fresh and flavorful food. Friendly and welcoming staff. Brisket sandwich and ribs were great and the house made potato chips were a real treat. Even the blue cheese dressing was house made and delicious. Really enjoyed our meal here and can't wait to make an excuse to come back...it's worth the drive! Highly recommend!

Outdoor seating area is relaxing and beautiful. You can smell the pit going which is pleasant. Our waitress was prompt and friendly. The food was good I would say it could have been a little more warmed up. Garlic mashed potatoes were the best! My bf brother loved the ribs. There was a bit too much seasoning on my brothers fries. He loved the burger though! Overall a nice place to grab lunch!

My family and I stopped by on a historically cold Friday night. We were lucky to gind an open table as the inside seating is limited. Service was prompt and friendly. They had run out of ribs (7pm), not uncommon for a BBQ place this late in the day. We ordered two dinners and two sandwiches. The dinners came with two sides, the sandwiches one. Baked beans were terrific, sweet potato fries were crisp and delicious. Homemade chips were o.k. but the mac and cheese was dissapointing. Watery cheese mixture over shells, could have been solid but needed thickening. Our meat selections consisted of brisket and pulled pork. Both were excellent in their depth of flavor and tenderness. Portions were sufficient. We finished with a $5 chocolate chip cookie to go. This was actually on the house as they were trying out a new recipe. The cookie was huge and had a smattering of chocolate chunks though out. I would have preferred a carpeting of smaller chips as many of my bites were chocolate free. Over all the cookie was just alright. Don't know what the first recipe was like but I'd keep trying.

The food is pretty good. My friend and I both had the Brisket. I wish there was a little more bbq sauce on the meat but it was very tender. Mac and cheese was creamy and flavorful. Cornbread was a little sweet for my taste but not in a bad way. We tried to sit outside in the front, but it was a bit too windy and the staff were very patient when we relocated inside the restaurant. The music and decor were not bad and the prices were reasonable. I would like to try it again when the back patio is opened. It looks nice out there but unfortunately it wasn't opened yet.

Good food at a good price. Friendly staff and the food comes fast. Really big take out service as there was a steady stream of people coming in to get food the whole time we ate. Good find and will come back if we are in the area.

Very small space. I only saw one waiter, she was very nice and was working hard. The prices were good but the food not as good. Many of the dishes like the pull pork were cold, the beans were hard, potatoes in the potato salad were also hard. We had a party of 6 and it was very uncomfortable to sit and eat there due to space. I've to other BBQ joints and the food was better. Hopefully is not always like this.

The Phoenix

We ordered takeout because we were on the go and it truly missed the marked. Even though we made sure to request it, there were no plates, cutlery or even napkins. Missing these details made it feel like the restaurant doesn't give take out orders much care or attention. Food was as expected for a smokehouse chain. Better than Ruby Tuesday but lacks the soul of other regional eateries. Pulled pork was plentiful and tasty, although somewhat dried out after having to reheat. Potato salad was pretty basic and surprisingly bland. Greens were excellent. I hope they can improve their takeout service ie remember basics like utensils and napkins. For now it's a hard pass on Taino.
