We have been coming to Milan for years and Il Solferino is a mainstay. As usual, for dinner we shared the steak Florentine Angus steak for two. It was perfection, as always. The restaurant décor and atmosphere are always fantastic. The highly professional waitstaff and hosts are welcoming and always make for a thoroughly memorable and enjoyable time.

Friends who were passing through town and I decided to try Solferino after having an aperitivo nearby. The menu impressed us and we settled on pasta and wine, as well as a couple of antipasti to share. Everything was very good, including the Jerusalem artichoke and beetroot mousse (I'd come back for that alone). The homemade gnocchi served with burrata and a drizzle of pesto were excellent. I think everyone at the table agreed that we'd come back to eat at Solferino the next time we're in Brera. Complimenti alla cucina!

We visited Solferino again in October 2026, our fifth time! It’s become a bit of a tradition for us to save it for the last night in Milan, as it’s always the best. The place has that real local feel, with a great buzz and atmosphere. The Milanese saffron risotto is to die for, and the wine selection never disappoints. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. We did miss the older waiter (sadly can't remember his name) who we were told has now retired, he was such fun and full of character. Wishing him all the best in retirement. We’ll definitely be back next time!

Solferino is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Milan — a must-visit for anyone who truly appreciates great Italian food. Every dish we had was memorable. The carbonara, trufel pasta, octopus, linguine with seafood, lobster pasta, and ravioli were all beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor. The homemade liver pâté was a highlight — rich, smooth, and perfectly seasoned. For dessert, the tiramisu was simply exceptional — without a doubt, one of the best I’ve ever tried in my life. Other desserts were also good. We also had an excellent bottle of Marchesi di Barolo 2016

Il Solferino is a lovely little restaurant in Milan. It's definitely for special occasions, as it's refined and classy. The service is beyond outstanding, full of humour and good nature. The outdoor sheltered and heated area is a delight to eat in, even when it's not the full blush of summer. The wine list is extensive with something to suit all budgets from 35 to over a thousand euros, and the house wine selection by the glass was delightful. All three courses were expertly handled and showcased fine Italian food at its best. You pay a little more to go to Il Solferino, but it's worth it for such an incredible evening.

Lovely classic Milano eatery. We had an incredible last night in Italy here. Atmosphere was the exact authentic and cozy experience we were looking for. The service was attentive and fun to be around. Food was absolutely delicious!

We had a lovely lunch here! We had Grilled Octopus antipasti, then La Trofie with Genovese Pesto and Vegetable Risotto with Burrata as our main courses. The service was excellent. Our server Ruben was in tune with our needs. It’s was like he could read our minds! He knew exactly what would complement our plates. The focaccia was the best of all! We’ll be back! Grazie mille!

I tried the milano risotto, simply amazing. Able to find a seat without reservations. I visit in opening time. It quickly filled up the table within 30mins. I would suggest make reservations early to avoid disappointment. To be honest, the dishes really good. I hope i could have try more dishes. Highly recommended.

Had a great lunch here! The food was excellent and the service very good even though they were very busy. The waiter spoke English. Not a cheap place but very good. Had a mozarella salad, risotto, water and a glass of wine for €65, service fee/bread is €4. It's very popular so reserving a table is a good idea.

The atmosphere of this place and the food is what makes me choose to assign 5 stars (4.5 realistically ) . I’ll have to come back to try more dishes. I’m not surprised to see some complaints about the staff and service which can really be improved. Fortunately our server was professional, however I did have the feeling some people were less happy to work there. I would choose this place for both business lunches and date nights.

I went to this cozy restaurant on a rainy day. Great vibe, amazing meal, perfect service, would recommend the cottoletta, love it. For dessert we loved the tiramisu.

Nell'affascinante quartiere di Brera, Il Solferino è uno storico ristorante affidabile in cui concedersi un menù della tradizione (milanese) o spaziare tra terra e mare. Spesso presenti interessanti fuori menù, ottima la carta dei vini, accogliente la sala, servizio sicuramente attento. Consigliato.

Locale tipico, accogliente. Ambiente tranquillo, poco rumoroso, favorisce la conversazione tra un piatto e l’altro. Offre un menù ben assortito, dall’antipasto al dolce, piatti tipici e non , cucinati con cura , esaltando l’ottima qualità degli ingredienti utilizzati. Carta dei vini molto ben assortita, prezzi un pochino al di sopra della media. Dolci , golosi, da gustare. Prezzo nella media per la zona in cui si trova. Gustosi i primi piatti, ottima la carne.

Andiamo al Solferino da circa 5 anni sotto Natale. Una storica trattoria milanese in centro dove abbiamo sempre mangiato bene. Nel periodo natalizio è sempre super-decorato, qualcuno dice troppo ma a me non dispiace. Questa volta ho trovato il cibo sinceramente meno curato sia nella presentazione che nella qualità. Inoltre mi è arrivata una cotoletta che sembrava proprio tanto di pollo. Ho chiesto al cameriere, che ha negato, ma secondo me era proprio pollo. 240eu in 4 solo antipasto e primo (con 2 calici di vino) senza dolce o caffè, giudicate voi.

Come letto in un'altra recensione, anche a me é stata servita una cotoletta che non era di vitello. Non era cattiva, ma onestamente spiazzante. Ho chiesto delucidazioni al cameriere, ha insistito che fosse di vitello e che il colore chiaro dipendesse dall'uso del latte nella preparazione... In realtà non era solo il colore, ma anche la consistenza della carne....

Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was quite a letdown. We had high hopes, but the overall experience fell significantly short of expectations. The service was confusing and inefficient from the start. I ordered a bottle of wine which the waiter completely forgot to bring out. When it finally arrived, the cork broke upon opening. More concerningly, the €150 bottle of wine tasted strange, leading us to believe it might have been expired or improperly stored. This was a major disappointment. Regarding the food, it was average to poor. The quality was far below the standard we anticipated. While edible ("ok"), it certainly wasn't a culinary highlight. The venue was also very crowded, adding to the uncomfortable experience. Overall, weak service and underwhelming food quality made for a disappointing evening.

Probably wouldn’t come back. Food is good, however the waiting times were incredible and hilarious. What is probably most unacceptable was one of the waiter’s behaviour. First, they have been quite ignoring: some dishes of our orders have simply been forgotten. One waiter repeatedly told us to make positive recommendations on TripAdvisor before he hadn’t even finished. Most rude about that was the fact that in order to to do so he interrupted us ordering with his colleague by shouting through the whole restaurant. What a disrespectful and unkind behaviour. Therefore, the whole experience is moderate. It’s definitely not worth the price.

Esperienza pessima sotto ogni punto di vista. Abbiamo mangiato malissimo e pagato prezzi assurdi: 5€ per una semplice bottiglia d’acqua è inaccettabile. Le porzioni sono minuscole e le patate davvero oscene, immangiabili. Gravissimo anche l’aspetto della sicurezza: alla mia amica è stato servito un bicchiere rotto e per poco non si faceva male, e nessuna scusa da parte dello staff. Il cameriere è stato arrogante e maleducato, arrivando persino a trattare male un altro ragazzo dello staff davanti ai clienti. Sul menù non sono indicati gli allergeni, cosa ancora più grave e fuori dalle norme. In più siamo state sistemate a un tavolo incastrato, scomodo e senza spazio. Un locale così non merita né il prezzo che chiede né le recensioni positive. Da evitare assolutamente.

Avevo grandi aspettative per il ristorante Solferino, dato che gode di una certa reputazione, ma purtroppo la mia esperienza è stata profondamente deludente. Sebbene la maggior parte delle portate fosse ben preparata e saporita, la carne è stata un disastro. Era praticamente tutta grasso, con pochissima carne vera e propria – qualcosa di inaccettabile per un ristorante di questo livello. Tuttavia, ciò che ha davvero rovinato la serata è stato il servizio. Il nostro cameriere, Marco, ci ha offerto una delle peggiori esperienze che io abbia mai avuto. Non solo è stato scortese e poco professionale, ma il suo comportamento dopo che avevamo già pagato un conto di oltre 400 euro è stato semplicemente inaccettabile. Essere cacciati fuori e umiliati da un membro dello staff è qualcosa che non avrei mai pensato potesse accadere in un ristorante di questo calibro. Questa esperienza è stata non solo deludente ma anche spiacevole. Non tornerò mai più, e spero che altri non debbano vivere un’esperienza simile. Solferino deve seriamente rivedere la qualità del suo servizio e di alcune proposte del menu se vuole mantenere la sua reputazione.

Cucina: Pessima. Il solo fatto di spacciare una cotoletta di maiale per cotoletta di vitello vale il voto negativo. alla mia richiesta di chiarimento il cameriere mi ha risposto bellamente "a me dicono che è vitello". per non dire che poi non sapeva di nulla e sopra c'erano 2 foglie di rucola con pomodori immangiabili. anche il risotto con l'ossobuco preso dall'altro commensale era immangiabile. Servizio: 2 vini su 2 richiesti dalla lista non c'erano. I prezzi del vino erano assurdi. al terzo vino che mancava il cameriere si presenta con una bottiglia dicendoci che anche se costava di piu ci avrebbe fatto pagare lo stesso prezzo. peccato che una bottiglia che al supermercato costa 9,90 euro non puoi farla pagare 70. nel commercio ci vuole anche dignità. Locale: carino, peccato che fosse illuminato tipo centro commerciale con uso eccessivo di addobbi di natale. Locale Iperturistico e di storico è rimasto credo solo il mobilio

Siamo stati a San Valentino: Ci hanno fatto entrare 40 min dopo la prenotazione, assieme ad altre 30 persone. Abbiamo ordinato 3 volte l’acqua e 4 volte il vino, l’acqua alla fine è arrivata, il vino no e ce lo siamo trovati comunque nel conto alla fine. Poi ci sono arrivati i secondi… prima dei primi piatti. Primi discreti, secondi piatti (cotoletta da 32€) da supermercato. Spero sia stata la serata particolare, però mi spiace ma non ci metto più piede.

Unfortunately this was a very bad experience. The food was less than average, very expensive. We have been served totally tasteless starters and the wine which is the cheapest supermarket wine that sells 10 euros per bottle in a supermarket was 25 euros per glass. The atmosphere felt unwelcoming. Total tourist trap and extremely disappointing. There is so many amazing restaurants in Milano, please avoid this one. I regret inviting my family here.

Been there with my mother and sister, unfortunately we were not treated very well. The waiter seemed to be in a rush, told us the kitchen was about to close, and insisted that we order quickly. We barely had time to look at the menu — I even asked for an English version, but didn’t really have the chance to read it. My dish was the salmon, which was extremely salty, while the mushroom risotto was good. Overall, the experience was disappointing, especially considering the exorbitant prices that do not match the quality of the service. My mother also asked a few questions about the menu and nearby places, but was answered in a curt way and felt quite uncomfortable.
