Delightful place with a variety of roasts and great coffee drinks. Taking home a bag of Mocha Java or the tasty Hioliday Blend is a perfect way to unfurl your day. Love love love the savory blueberry waffles and lemony drizzle. Friendly prompt service. Covid safety wonderful.💝
Great coffee and food only to be matched by the quality of the staff. Lots of choices of drinks. Food ranges from pastries to an absolutely fantastic breakfast sandwich. One of the best I’ve ever had.
The best cold brew on all of the west coast! I’m a cold brew addict and it’s even difficult to find a place that has both good cold brew and almond/oat milk over here on the west — they also have really high quality salads and incredibly friendly staff. If you’re a coffee or matcha lover you must come here!
Good coffee, service, and vibe. Also, they have a nice selection of tasty breakfast foods—especially the waffles. Definitely worth a try!
My almond milk cappuccino was incredible and I almost never say this. Banana bread was great too! Thanks 😊
Long time customer, finally reviewing. Waffles are a must, and coffee is a bit but always good. Wait can be long on weekends, order ahead. Open air vibes, and lots of active customers.
Great coffee - everything from brew to pour over to espresso and cold brews. Good selection of pastries, including very bike-friendly stuff like banana bread and pumpkin bread. I've only eaten the waffles after a pretty strenuous bike ride which has made them taste magical.
Favorite spot in Marin! Perfect breakfast, coffee, and hang out spot post run, ride, or hike. The staff are super friendly and the place cranks out coffee!! ☕️ highly recommend
Went to have coffee on Thanksgiving day -- they were closed but giving away free coffee outside just to give back to the community. What a great and heartwarming thought - just what the world needs right now. And it's pretty great coffee too. Will go back there every time I'm in Mill Valley.
The best coffee you can get in pretty much whatever form you want it. Excellent local baked goods and other comestibles offered. Great service and atmosphere for a quiet time or for meeting friends. Equator is an LGBT woman owned company that is very involved in the community where all of their shops are and takes an active stance for equal rights for all.
This coffee shops sits in the middle of Mill Valley and is a wonderful spot to go in the morning. The coffee was great, but the waffle with almond butter was even better! I was shocked how great it tasted, and will definitely go back when I am in town.
Coffee = delicious! I loved their seasonal special that had cardamom in it recently. Their waffles are soooooo good! I really enjoyed the lemon and marscapone one. The outdoor seating is great.
This is my first time to an Equator Coffees & Teas. The breakfast (waffles) I got was amazingly delicious, as was the housemade vanilla latte. Service and staff was well organized and seating accommodations are perfect. Would absolutely visit this establishment again!
Don't judge a book by its cover! This little place has charm and best coffee I've had in the area. Will do individual drips for premium beans. Great staff, must try if you are in the area. Yes, they do have almond milk and steam it better than anyone!
The best quiche I have ever had. It was their seasonal quiche that had squash in it. The crust was delicious. I had it with the white peonie tea and the seasonal, cranberry orange scone. Which was amazing! I went back a second day. They were sold out of the seasonal scone so I tried the berry one. Big, fresh berries, but I didn't love it as much. This is a must place for cute coffee shops.
Best coffee around. Minimal food options. Great outdoor area to enjoy your coffee and hang out in. If you are local, you are sure to run into friends. Please don't park illegally on the street in front and run in "just for a minute"; it is dangerous for everyone and there is parking in back. This review is for Larkspur store.
This is a great place for starting out a long cycle ride round the fabulous hills surrounding Mill Valley. It's an even better place to finish up a long cycle ride round the fabulous hills surrounding Mill Valley. The maple scone things are my favorite and the filter coffee really hit the spot.
This location has a lot more food than other equator locations! Love the veggie frittata. I recommend ordering on the app in advance to skip the rush and get rewards points. The rewards add up pretty quick. Also great customer service. Just wish the seating was more comfortable. Also there’s no outlets and no WiFi. But food and drinks and customer service is 10/10.
Espresso is top tier. Absolutely amazing iced americano.
I can't believe how snotty the locals are in downtown Mill Valley
After a nice walk in Muir Woods, the excellent coffee and fantastic Veggie frittata sandwich were voluntarily accepted. I liked that there was both interior and exterior searing as well.
SO good. Got the iced maple walnut latte and it was to die for. Not too sweet, not too much milk to drown out the coffee. It was perfect. The food options were fantastic, I picked up a cardamom bun (very rare to see those!) and very strongly regretted having lunch because the BLAT looked great. The coffee was smooth yet complex. Really impressed and I will definitely be back when I'm in the area again.
I think a café can be rated on five categories: Coffee (obviously!) Food Cheer Comfort Atmosphere Although I did not try the food (yet). Equator on Miller is exceptional in all the other categories. Gentle breezes wafting, friendly staff, comfy chairs, the gorgeous hills of Mill Valley easily visible. What a treat! Shoutout to Orion, the barista, for her extra-good vibes!
We stopped in here after our trek through Muir Woods. They were busy and seemed slightly unorganized but where able to accommodate every order. I was thrilled to find them and get a chance to try their Gluten-free waffles. It was perfect with a chi tea, it was just what I needed to warm me back up. I LOVED all the canine company!
Most competent and friendly staff of any coffee shop I've come across from the manager on down to the baristas and cashiers. They handle a rush incredibly well. A home away from home.
Simply just the best coffee made by the best baristas. The food is also excellent ( the waffles are divine). The staff are always great and hustle even during the busiest times. Yes, there’s sometimes a wait … see earlier comment about the coffee being the best … order ahead on the app .. they provide a very accurate estimate of when the coffee will be ready. And if there is a wait, take a breath and look at Mount Tam. Don’t be that person who throws a hissy fit cos they had to wait a minute for their oat milk latte . My favorite place in town
A fave!!! Always love their coffee, their people. But yesterday, I also got their ham and cheese croissant with pesto. When I asked about it, the cashier lit up with a huge smile. That sold it to me...and I think I was in bliss good at least an hour after eating it. Soooooo good. The coffee and warmth of this location is always stellar.
always reliably excellent coffee!
This place was super duper busy, but the coffee and the strawberry with chocolate waffles easily made up for the terrible wait time and the over crowdedness
Equator was hopping when I visited on a Saturday afternoon - full of outdoor enthusiasts and weekenders waiting patiently for their fancy coffee orders. They had a great selection of sophisticated latte flavors like honey, lavender, maple and black sesame! Good looked great and a cozy atmosphere. Expensive tho!
top of the line state of the art, get the habibi latte. very kind and efficient staff
Located in the central square in Mills Valley, easy parking and great stop en route to the Muir Woods. Iced latte and cappuccinos were great. Seating options both indoor and outdoor were clean and available.
Equator Coffees in Mill Valley is a charming, laid-back cafe nestled in the heart of downtown, offering a delightful coffee experience with local character. The flagship location boasts a unique ambiance crafted from reclaimed redwood and railroad ties, paying homage to the area’s rich history Coffee Quality: Offers a range of specialty coffees, including their popular Habibi Latte and seasonal pour-over options Menu Variety: Features gluten-free waffles, pastries, sandwiches, and both hot and cold beverages Cozy indoor and outdoor seating with a local, welcoming vibe
Kind and friendly staff. Decent prices. We tried their baked goods... an assortment of cookies, scones, and croissants. All were delicious. COVID procedure is convenient -- order at a window, they will bring out your order and call your name. Seems like a fairly popular place in Mill Valley, but also seems like one of the only games in town for these types of items. You can also buy their coffee beans in the local grocery store down the street.
Their Habibi Latte might be the best beverage I’ve ever had. The chocolate strawberry waffle was also delish, and the location has a “Cheers/Everyone Knows Your Name” vibe. Charming establishment in an even more charming town.
Shout out to cashier, Anna, for helping us out! We were first time customers and she helped us figure out exactly what we NEEDED! Hibiscus tea and strawberry sparkling lemonade. YUM! She was so friendly and genuinely kind. Will be back!
Equator Coffees is a great spot if you care about quality coffee and a comfortable atmosphere. The drinks taste consistently well crafted, whether it’s a simple drip coffee or a specialty latte. You can tell they use high-quality beans, and the flavor is smooth and balanced, not bitter. The cafes have a clean, modern feel and are good for meeting friends or getting some work done. Staff have been friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and service moves at a good pace even during busy times. I also like their food and pastry options — fresh and a nice complement to the drinks. It feels like a step above typical coffee chains without being pretentious. Overall, a reliable place for good coffee, relaxed vibes, and quality service. Definitely recommend if you enjoy well-made coffee.
Equator Coffees in Mill Valley is a must visit when in town. The cold brew is delicious with a smooth flavor that’s great on its own or with some milk. The location is beautiful and perfectly situated downtown, which makes it a great stop whether you are exploring the area or meeting up with someone. The space feels warm and inviting and there is plenty of charm in the surroundings. Overall, it is a reliable and enjoyable coffee stop that fits right into the vibe of Mill Valley.
Superb sandwiches. The egg Salad was especially tasty. Great Latte. Friendly/Family atmosphere. Excellent service and extremely clean. I look forward to my next visit. Thank you!
Is there anything better than an equator espresso and some avocado toast? Great location in downtown Mill Valley. Enjoy!
Equator is a great coffee shop located in the middle of mill valley. I love the strawberry matcha here as it may be expensive, but it’s really good. The baristas are very nice and they really bring a welcoming vibe. If your in mill valley and your looking for good coffee and pastries, this is the place.

Awesome atmosphere! Coffee wasn’t the greatest I’ve had, but it was good enough. Will definitely come back.

Coffees are pretty good here (definitely a step up from Starbucks or Peets in my book) and the orange juice is delicious. My only minor gripe is that the indoor seating is a bit awkward of a set up, but given it's a small space not sure how your optimize better either.
This place is ridiculous, as in it is so good that it should be illegal. The avocado toast was some of the best I have ever had, I ordered three to go for on my way to the airport leaving San Francisco. The seasonal autumn spice latte with the pumpkin cream cold brew was to die for - I found myself getting two in a day for sure!

Got here for coffee and breakfast before a hike. There was a line at 9am on Saturday. The ham and cheese croissant had basil, which was good, but it was really greasy, which was not good. The small frozen latte was pretty small and made with heavy cream. Plain croissants were good. Pricey, but would go back.
Love Equator coffee. Stopped by this place on a busy Sunday after a hike through Mt Tam. My girlfriend got a Shakerato and I got a beer. Love the fact that I can get a beer here and then chill outside watching people pass by. Really awesome place to come hang out in a cute little town.
Busy place in a beautiful setting. Top shelf coffee's prepared perfectly every time period also case tree suites and savories from local bakeries. Hang here to see and be seen! I was here once several months ago and the CEO of Equator coffee's was doing a television interview in the front. Popular spot with some of the best single origin coffee available.
Excellent coffee and very friendly people. Unfortunately, the meta data for this place needs to be updated. I wouldn't consider it good for working on a laptop because they don't offer wifi or power outlets. There's nothing wrong with not offering these amenities. I just wish the meta data was accurate since I planned on getting some work done. Great place to relax in morning with your coffee though.
Good for a quick breakfast and great service. They definitely focus on making exquisite coffee. Lots of different brew methods and options, and the baristas are well trained to make a perfect cup of coffee. My only complaint is that it's a bit expensive.
Local staple & popular brunch spot. Trendy. Moderately priced. Relative fast service. Vegan. Vegitarian. Gluten free. Not the most romantic place with so many people but, great for brunch with pals. Great for travelers. Some drawbacks are that they are extremely packed. The location is kind of awkward and small. Limited seating. Not to mention kids are usually running around like little tornados. Ideal date spot if you can snag a seat 🍀🤞🎱 Otherwise, better luck ordering to-go. Overall, great coffee shop. I definitely recommend at least checking it out.
Love this coffee shop and all of their specialty drinks. They have many modification options. The food is also quite good but the scones are dry. My main problem with this place, and all Equator locations is the price. Everything is extremely expensive so prepare to spend $8 on a basic coffee and scone.
Great location of Equator Coffee in downtown Mill Valley. It's a great spot to grab a coffee and watch the town go about its day. The latte was great, although asked for Soy. I think we got milk. Also they provide great food, I got the Avacado and Brie waffle which was great even tho I didn't see any Brie. The ham and cheese waffle is also delicious. I also read they have cocktails, might be a nice place for afternoon drinks as well.
Pretty good overall the only reason I’m giving four stars is because for their shaken espresso drinks the default milk is oat milk. And oat milk is so unhealthy. It is a glyphosate riddle seed oil liquid, and I think the default for any coffee drink should just be regular milk. I unsuspectingly ordered it and didn’t see in the description. It does say oat milk, so that’s on me for not seeing it, but I also Have not really seen any coffee drink where the default is oat milk. As someone who values their health and absolutely loves the equator uses Strauss organic milk I was upset and then I re-ordered the drink, and it’s typically customary if a customer gets their drink if they don’t like it, they make them a new one on the house. I’ve worked in the industry. This was at least the standard where I worked. But instead, the cashier knew that I was re-ordering the drink because I didn’t like it and still made me pay for it. I get it. The economy is rough, but having worked in the service industry I was a bit disheartened however, I’m still gonna go to equator coffee. I think they have great coffee. I just think the default milk should not be oat milk or it should be more obvious or the barista should ask: What milk do you want with that?
Pick up orders with in side and outside seating. The Habibi latte was good but could have used more cardamom. The blueberry sage cold brew did not taste like it had sage in it and was ok otherwise. The Fritata with prosciutto was ok, the banana almond butter sandwich was like a homemade one. Would get drinks again, but food was too mediocre.
A staple Mill Valley place to visit. Seems very popular on the daily with locals and visitors alike. I’m not a big coffee-drinker but I’ve been several times and can attest to the great atmosphere and pretty good food/drink options. Food options include sandwiches, pastries, and sweet/savory waffles. Indoor and outdoor seating available. However, because it’s so busy, if you sit down to the left of the entrance (opposite side from the counter where orders are placed), it’ll be hard to hear your order called. At least my experience has been this way where I’m waiting a while for my order to be called, finally get tired of waiting, walk over to check in with staff, only to find that my order is sitting on the counter but I never heard it called. I got the veggie frittata sandwich and enjoyed it but generally, the food is a bit pricey for the portion size in my opinion. The drink I got was fairly good I think but honestly, not very memorable/standout because I don’t really remember it.
Cute cafe in downtown Mill Valley. They have good coffee and a decent selection of beer. The chicken and waffles are delicious, but all of the other waffles looked great. Nice place to grab a quick bite!
This equator coffee seems to me a better one than some other locations I have visited. Better service - orders for pick up are nicely placed on a long counter. Better location–next to the big plaza with lots of seatings and a lively urban vibe. I had a breakfast frittata sandwich and it turned out better than I expected. Bread was warm and smells fantastic, avocado was fresh and sauce was tasty; although scrambled or fried egg would be better than frittata which feels more processed.

Great mocha, but service could be improved. We ordered three drinks: a mocha for myself, and my friends got a cappuccino and a Brown Sugar & Cinnamon shakerato (customized to hot instead of iced), plus a butter croissant warmed up. Our favorite was definitely the mocha, I'd highly recommend it! It had the perfect amount of sweetness without overpowering the coffee taste. The cappuccino was good as well. The shakerato wasn't what we expected, though that might be because we ordered it hot instead of trying it iced as intended. Given the cold weather, we thought a hot version would be better. The only reason I'm rating service lower is that our drinks sat on the counter and got cold while they waited to hand all three out together. It would have been better to receive them as they were ready.

Weekends or peak times: I’ve found that if you are ordering anything besides a drip coffee the wait can be absurd. My family and I often come to this area on Sunday mornings. Today I had to wait about 30 mins for a matcha latte and iced chai. On the weekends or popular times this has been the norm. Absolutely absurd to have to wait that long for a drink!!! Quality of food and drink are good, staff is mostly friendly - yet with the place over flowing with people and order tickets spilling out, some staff look very stressed out. The place was packed with people waiting and checking on orders. Not sure what could help, I’d rather go elsewhere.
Drinks are ok, not that sweet but they work. However the prices are a bit expensive for my taste about $6-7 for a drink that isn’t coffee
The pastries were kind of good, but the service was not. We did not receive two of our drinks, and never did. Unfortunately, the mistake was only remedied with less than half of a refund. Hopefully, they will improve and I can change this review. Edit: Thank you for responding to my review. I will change my review as promised, as long as you make sure that a mistake like this doesn't happen to others as well.
The cappuccino was good, the service was terrible. Barista took forever because he was far more interested in chatting with his friends than actually making drinks.
Giving the benefit of the doubt, perhaps I came on an off day for the cafe. My dirty chai was kind of gross, I didn’t finish it. The service was fast but abrupt, not friendly, borderline rude x 3 employees. None of them seemed to be very happy about working there today. Prices were expensive but probably fair considering the area. Music very loud. Basic decor. The waffles are all gluten free. Mine was blueberry lemon crème and really delicious, so there was that. I might come again if I were in the area & had a craving just for that ;). Otherwise I’d probably skip it.
Great atmosphere, good coffee but the only way to get a coffee within 15 mins is by ordering ahead. They should figure out a system that slightly prioritizes in person orders. I waited for my cappuccino for 20 mins as the only person in shop. Meanwhile 10+ pick up orders came out with only 2 people coming in to pick them up.
the baristas are cool, the place is nice and spacious. Only I had a very difficult mouthful of coffee grounds when i got to the last 4oz of coffee which was pretty startling-- get an americano instead
This store is increasingly poorly run. Very high wait times, often 20+ minutes late on mobile orders, chaotic staff scenes, late to open (I type this at 710am on a Sunday, and they expect it will be another 15 before they open). With other choices nearby, seems a pretty complacent way to run a business.
Coffee is honestly really good and employees are always nice, but I am consistently having to wait 20-25 minutes for coffee here. Today had to cancel my order because it was going to take 30 minutes. Think they need to find a way to better manage their influx of business….maybe not take online orders on the weekends?
Massive chain. Nasty aesthetic. I always like the items listed, can't dislike the quality of the ingredients. Almost no creativity though and the people are sad.
I had a few different iced “dessert” lattes, they tasted good and balanced. But I got a large hot oat milk latte a few times and all of them disappointed. They tasted diluted, watery and bland. Also they charge extra for to go cups and alternative milk.

I just wanted some gluten free waffles and the only place close to me was in Mill Valley. I was so excited to get breakfast. This was my first time in Mill Valley and I left so disappointed. The whole vibe was off. They have all these signs on the walls about kindness, equitability, no racism, no xenophobia etc etc and I appreciate their effort but the people there seem so racist. It did not feel like an inclusive and welcoming environment, people kept staring at me because I was the only person of color there, they seemed upset that I was existing amongst them, the staff was less friendly, I went up to ask about my order and a person behind me was acting like I was going to cause a scene. Just the microaggressions...sigh. They seem to be living in a bubble, out of touch with reality. Also, the food was not good, the macchiato was not good. Not worth it. Zero starts honestly but I have to give a one.
updated: while it used to be good coffee and the barista/staff are nice and not arrogant like much of mill valley. the coffee is not so good anymore. i would also avoid buying any of the bagged coffee, at the cafe or online as it may be old and moldy, some of it made us sick. the curated subscriptions are also now a bit of a scam as you will likely receive the same olds, the bulk oldest and cheapest, over and over again. the cafe is still dirty and infrequently cleaned if you can get a table after waiting in line. my original review: it's okay... pretty good espresso, but often long lines and sort of untidy/dirty café. tables are not cleaned often.
Terrible service I went to the cafe and noticed that the employees do not pay attention to the customers. and notice that they brought people from uber and doordach and they had to pack and look for the orders. That is not professional on the part of the employees since uber and doordach only come to pick up the orders and notice that the guys asked for help and the employees did not They paid attention to them. The restaurant requires more professional attention and has a specific person to deliver takeout orders
I ordered coffee by DoorDash I am waiting 30 minutes is not ready is very slow service
Poor service no drip coffee readily available had to wait for them to brew more finally got out of the coffee shop 20 minutes after the fact
Not much of a line three employees by the coffee makers. My cappuccino too so long and then… not sure what this is. Doesn’t taste right at all. Just so disappointing
I was waiting for my cappuccino for 25 minutes after I ordered it. Every time I asked the barista about my order, he was rude and acted like I was the one being unreasonable. He even told me it would be 10 more minutes when it was clear there were only two checks ahead of me! I understand this is a busy coffee shop on a Sunday morning, but 25 minutes for a cappuccino after ordering it is unacceptable. Also, I probably wouldn’t have said anything about it otherwise, but they only filled about 2/3 of my friend’s cold brew and he had to ask for more, and the brie in the brie and avocado waffle is very small. Poor service, decent food and coffee tho.
Very rude staff. I got gaslit by two baristas back to back when I asked why my two hot chocolates were only 8 ounces instead of 10 ounces (see the menu). I didn’t even request new drinks, just wanted to kindly let them know. They were so rude it got me so shook. And I even gave them a big tip beforehand on my 22$ hot chocolate and pastries 😂😂😂. The fact that the two separate baristas responded the same way back to back tells me this is isn’t the first time someone brought up the 8 ounce drink when it clearly states 10 ounces on the menu. For the record hot chocolate was tasty but at these prices I expected that they would at least be kind people.
