This is one of my favorite places to go for Vietnamese sandwich and shrimp spring rolls. Although the bread is not toasted, they fill their sandwiches to the brim with sumptuous nummies. I love that they give the perfect ratio of meat with cilantro, cucumber, and (my favorite) pickled carrots and daiko. You know this place is authentic and good when the Vietnamese community come here for their goodies. Lol.
One of the OGs of banh mi in Milpitas/South Bay and still one of the best. The "special beef pho" broth is old school, fragrant, and flavorful even on its own. The fresh spring rolls always taste better here, and they make nem chua and nem bo (fermented pork with fresh garlic and chile slices) year round. Also try their short crispy eggrolls, pate chaud, and vermicelli/rice stick plates for some really good home-cooked flavor!
I'm always looking for a good coffee, and my definition is a good balance between the coffee, ice and milk. The coffee here was amazing. I did get it with condensed milk. This paired really well with the roast chicken bahn-mi. Definitely check out this place if you are in the area and looking for a good vietnamese coffee.
This place is good for frequent visits. They have a variety of dishes so you won't get bored with eating the same stuff again and again. Their price/quality ratio is excellent. If you have parties at home or at work they have excellent an excellent party-tray menu.
My favorite Vietnamese cheap eat. Tasty food at competitive prices. It's amazing how much variety that kitchen puts out. Da best.
My new favorite banh mi shop. I'm a bit miffed that the banh mis don't automatically include pate, but the flavor is still phenomenal.
Best banh mi anywhere and still only $5. Spring rolls are excellent. Friendly and bilingual.
Can’t beat this place. $5-$7 for banh mi, $7 for 3 spring rolls. Cash only. Authentic Viet deli 👌🏼 They also do catering (large party orders)!
If it werent for online reviews I would have never stopped there, and that would have been my loss. We did a take out order and our entire family loved it. Nothing fancy, just a staple: chicken pho.
Awesome vietnamese joint for regular vietnamese staples. Banh Mis are super.. all in the 3~4$range.. bun bo hue is very good.. so is the grilled pork with rice. Very reasonable priced.
One of my favorite sandwich places! I've been going here for over 15 years. The staff are nice, pricing is excellent... Food is consistently good. Cash only.
We are vegetarian, so we usually get the veggie banh mi the egg banh mi and veg egg rolls. Amazing .. Affordable .. and totally worth it! But def bring cash or Venmo :)
Nice taste, always loved their bahn mi. Would come here just for lunch break. The staffs there are nice and homie.
Great bánh mì at very reasonable price. Have not tried other dishes yet. Friendly service. Take-out only currently (Jan 2021).
The same auntie and uncle running this place keeping it solid and consistent. The banh mis are my go tos and are only 5.5 or 7$ and are top tier. Have been here like 10 times in the last 2 months. My favorite is #1 cold cuts combo with head cheese and #14 grilled pork. Fresh crispy crunchy breach, fresh ingredients and good pate mayo ratio. The drinks are good too for only 3.5 when they have them available and I have been eyeing all the cafeteria food and noodle options - tbd.
I have been coming here for #14 grill pork Bahn mi for more than twenty plus years. Yesterday Friday I came at 6pm and they were closed. Today I came at 5pm. I usually buy four sandwiches at a time. Their sandwiches were just as good as many years ago. I have not tried other food dishes here but for the sandwiches: grill pork taste, sauce, bread and price is unbeatable. I will give them 6 star if I can. This is only a hole in the wall place don’t expect much but you will be surprised. Remember to bring cash. This is a cash only small business.
delicious Banh Mi sandwiches. crunchy bread, lots of vegetables, and meat of your choice. nephew had never tried that before, he loved it. bought two more! only $6 for one.
Read the favorable reviews and checked it out at my next opportunity. Got the #14 grilled pork banh mi, no mayo, and added some sriracha sauce from the table area. $5.50 cash. The sandwich was amazingly delicious, albeit a small 6 incher. No problem though, I finished it and ordered another one - same thing. Interior could be tidied up, but it is what it is. A delectable hole-in-the-wall. Highly recommend!
The Banh Mi sandwich here is delicious with fresh crispy baguette and tofu. Pleasenty delighted by great food and the staff courtesy. Coffee and the matcha latte here is great and a must have! 5/5
Delicious banh mi with crusty bread and good value
Best veggie egg rolls ever! My mom often comes here to buy their frozen read to fry or bake egg rolls or calls in to have them fry up the veggie egg rolls. She says the Veg ones taste way better than the pork ones! Soo good. I’m going to bring some up for a picnic in a few weeks!!
Delicious foods at affordable prices with friendly service. The mini crab egg rolls are delicious ($0.7), and their flan ($2.5) tastes wholesome and honestly crafted — cream and caramel notes in tow. The pate chaud ($1) was good, thought the pastry itself is a little dense and not as airy as I’d like. Ban cuon was fine.
I have been coming here for years to have fresh affordable Vietnamese food. My favorite off the menu things to order: tofu pho, grilled pork spring rolls, egg sandwich, and fried tofu spring rolls. The staff are friendly and very accommodating. Perfect place to order to go or to eat in.
Incredible bah mi, with the right crispness to the bun, incredibly sweet moist pork (the #14 sandwich), and just perfect heat, causing the corners of my mouth to tingle. Finding perfect bahn mi is hard, but Dakao delivers!
Been here for many years since the early 2000s although the price has changed the quality has mostly remained the same. The bbq beef banh mi is heavenly although a bit skimpy on the meat the sauce also is out of the world that doesn’t compare to other Vietnamese sandwich shops. The rice and noodle dishes are good for the portion. This is a family owned business so it is cash only . Plenty of side dishes or snacks to choose from at the counter
In the area, tried this place. Wow! Better than I expected! A Vietnamese sandwich is a Vietnamese sandwich, to a degree, but this place is something special. I got the chicken and beef sandwiches, #3 & #15 I think. There actually was a half decent amount of quite tasty meat on both. I'll have to remember this place. Very good!
Excellent, delicious, Vietnamese food. Good pricing. The chicken and beef sandwiches are healthy, delicious, and every bite is perfect. French style bread or Mexican Style Bolillos filled with proteins and fresh crispy vegetables. Special sauce inside the sandwich is real tasty. The pork empanada is awesome. We love this lunch.
My new favorite bun mi sandwich place. Tasty and satisfying. Update just started going here for there rice plates and pho. Prices are much more reasonable and not bad overall.
My son took me here. Phoa was delicious, something about the broth was just wonderful. Had three types of beef in this, meet balls, flank, and I think brisket. My son had a pork noodle dish, super good as well.
I love coming to this place, it is one of my favorites. Way better quality for your money’s worth than Lee’s sandwiches. Been here multiple times, I’m a regular I’d say. 10/10 visit. I got the grilled pork banh mi and grilled pork spring rolls!
Very nice sandwiches with light and crispy bread! If you’re vegetarian or vegan, there is a tofu option. They’re cheap, so be sure to grab an extra one to snack on later. And they accept Venmo payments in addition to cash, too.
Excellent seafood mini egg rolls but a little pricey. Bún bò Huế and bún riêu are also very good. Cash only. Open very early.
Ordered spring rolls for a party and they were fantastic! I ordered in the morning and picked up at the desired time. Will definitely return!

The best bahn mi ever. This is one of the few restaurants that sell grilled beef bahn mi . Absolutely delicious!!! Their tofu bahn mi is also high on my list!!! Not only does this restaurant make bahn mi, but they offer hot entrees, like noodle soup and rice dishes. The eggrolls are delicious. There is seating for about 20 people. Canned drinks and juices are available, as Are freshly made smoothies and boba tea.. Oh yeah, and the prices for the bahn mi are incredible. $6.00- $7.50 depending on what you order. Service is fast.. atmosphere - okay. More like a hole- in- the - wall restaurant, but a memorable hole- in - the- wall!!!
Enjoyed the food, cheap prices, and quick service at the counter. The atmosphere is like hole in the wall. I got a sandwich, spring rolls, side dish, and dessert for me and my young kids for $20.50. The bread isn’t super hard that it will scrape your mouth, it’s got a good crunch with a good amount of meat and veggies. They open early and close early. They are in a plaza that is janky. Cash Only. No AC so it will feel as hot as it is outside. I feel bad for the workers.
They are the only place that sells cha lua chien fried when you order. Very tasty! Accepts cash, Venmo, and Zelle. Did not see credit card option.
6 bucks!! After tax!! Cash only! So, so good. Flaky baguette, right amount of bite, lots if meat perfectly cooked. Real old school puts these new fancy places in their place
Dakao #1 had been my favorite banh mi spot (for my whole life, 30+ years, from SJ) but since it closed down I make the extra 15-20 minute drive to come here. The sandwiches are the best, other food is good but space is a little bit small to allow space for indoor dining. Prices are fair, great value that keeps me coming back. I wish there was actually more room for desserts and snacks (which is fairly common for banh mi shops, I would spend a lot more money here). There isn't music blasting etc which is cool but then it's almost too quiet and a little awkward sometimes if you're standing there waiting for a sandwich and there are people eating pho and watching you (bc not really a TV to watch instead lol). Service is fine and everyone I've talked to there is nice. Food is exceptional, one of my super favorites for banh mi!
$7 Banh mi. Lovely owners and sandwich was very flavourful! Note: only accepts zelle/venmo/cash
Thank you for the welcome and one of the best sandwiches I've had in recent memory!

4.0 star rating 6/26/2016 1 check-in cheap, fast, and delicious.... what's there not to like? I always walk away feeling satisfied spending under $7 dollars. The sandwiches are around ~3-5 dollars. They come in a nice soft bread roll filled with the usual bahn mi veggies + meat. Sometimes I do feel like there is a little too much fat in the meat but most of the time, it's perfect! I only go here for the vietnamese iced coffee and their sandwiches. The #4 BBQ PORK never fails me. CA$H ONLY! They do have an ATM available if you need it. There's also seating too but for me it's more a pick up or to-go type place.
I usually order party trays from here. They have good steam rice rolls with BBQ porks, shrimp salad, and mini pork and shrimp egg roll. Vietnamese banh mi are not bad either. Other good items on the menu are bánh cuốn chả (freshly made), mì quảng (special dried noodle bowl from Danang), and cháo lòng (Vietnamese congee)
Tasty banh mi. The bread was toasted and fresh. The BBQ pork was cut a little thick so you had to chew it. They did not put jalapeno so you might need to request it. Pate chaud seemed too thick a dough, bordering on empanada-dough thickness. The meat inside was fine. Need cash to pay.
This has been a local's favorite for a long time! They make some of the best sandwiches around but also some of the best rice plates and pho around! I especially like the orange rice and cubed beef i got. Well the environment around isn't the cleanest organized, and the fact that their lottery machine is the most modern equipment there... It just means that you're dealing with a vietnamese restaurant that's really good! Ordering is done through the front and you pay immediately through cash or zelle as of recent. You then just take it seat at the table and they'll find you all with friendly service!

CASH ONLY. Cafeteria style with only a few tables but very nice owners and pretty good food! We had the 3ct shrimp & pork springrolls w.sweet peanut sauce, Pho #131 (eye of round steak, fat brisket & tripe) & #71 Crispy Egg Noodles w.seafood. Shrimp & pork springrolls were very fresh, tasty, and quite filling all on its own! Nice and w.the perfect amount of chew. Sorry, no pic, we were hungry and ate it before I could take a pic of it. They're in to-go containers next to the register. Pho were clean tasting, real bone broth though not as thick as Pho 54 (our favorite pho place), portion was just right, would enjoy again any time. Crispy egg noodles w.seafood, the noodles were tasty but quite greasy (very normal as they're fried), sauce was a little salty but still tasty, and the dish could use more seafood, you get about 5 shrimp, a few seafood cake balls, a few slivered rounds of squid and that's about it. The crunchy veggies were very good in and gave some much needed freshness to the dish. Their menu is extensive and they are known for their bahn mi sandwiches (who goes to Lee's Sandwiches anymore?) so we'll have to try those. Thank you to the beautiful Taiwanese girl (her first time there too!) who gave mom one of the bagged fried ice cream cone looking desserts to try when mom asked her if it was good, that was super sweet of her!!! Oh, and if by chance you play the lottery you can buy them here along w.a vending scratch off lottos as well, sort of a peculiar amenity!

Below average banh mi. The bread was too soft instead of the crunchy outside and soft inside that Vietnamese baguette is known for. The meat and pickles were ok. Customer service was passable. The store was so cramped and run down. This store used to be really good and had so many selection of Vietnamese snacks.
Went there for a lunch just because seeing the good review. Disappointed. Sandwich is not even average although it's cheap $7. Not going back for sure.
This place closes at 6pm but they stop serving their banh mi at 3pm. What’s the point of even being open if you’re refusing to serve food for 3 hours? We ended up going to Duc Huong instead. At least they accept credit card.
