Opinions de Yin Ji Chang Fen Milpitas
We got the congee. Not too salty. We got a plain and a chicken. Great price considering other places cost typically over $35 for two people... Update, came back twice also tried egg / and or chicken rice noodle roll good options to try, also tried chicken sui mai. Others available on last menu page . Lunch on Saturday was full house. So this is a good sign.🙂👍🏻
There is a bit of a wait on weekends but it goes by fast. Once you sit down, there is a QR code to order from your phone. The items come out fairly quickly. I highly recommend the black and gold molten lava buns. They live up to their name as the egg yolk is runny and the bun is soft! After trying a few of the rice rolls, my favorite is the original shrimp one.
Love this place! This place reminds me of Hong Kong. Their rice rolls and porridge are really good. My staple food from here are: - Pork and gold preserved egg congee - Dough stick rice noodle roll - Dry shrimp and scallions rice noodle roll The only thing that I should mention is that their drinks are really weak. We tried their HK-style milk tea and their soybean milk. Both were very watered down, so I would not recommend ordering their drinks, just focus on their rice rolls and porridge. Still going to give them a 5-star review for their food, location and service!
Update: Dine in on busy Sunday. I’m surprised the ladies servers are very nice and sweet. The porridge and rice noodles are delicious. Definitely will be coming back soon! Review for 2022: Good food and great customer service!! Love their Marinated shrimp and beef rice noodles roll with egg!! So yummy! Also BBQ pork rice noodle roll and Dough stick rice noodle roll and Fried bun are also highly recommended. Their online menu is very clear. I like to go to their website and order online too. Will definitely go back again…again and again….
Really cool they finally opened in Milpitas! Steep price for some rice rolls, but they got basically everything for a cantonese brunch! For now there is rice porridge with various flavors and their famous rice rolls also in various flavors! Of course with plenty of soy sause that apparently they make themselves! Things get really busy around 11:30 AM to 1 PM for lunch rush. They have 2 tvs with one playing whatever TVB has and the other is just some generic among us or Minecraft YouTuber, they sure have nailed the target demographic here! Just be prepared for $7 per dish on average. If you're eating by yourself, just order a rice porridge as EACH rice rolls costs $7 and you'll need 3-4 to fill you up, unless you're there for a snack... Overall if im feeling spendy for morning breakfast, id go here again!
Clean, well run, crowded specialty Cantonese niche restaurant with good food at reasonable prices. The downside is it gets very crowded and the menu is rather limited. However, it is a must try restaurant if you like Cantonese style breakfast. Tables are close together so it’s more risky during pandemics especially for the unvaccinated. I went there on a Saturday lunchtime and the wait was unbearable. I then went again on Wednesday around noon. There was no waiting then. Highly recommended.
Good food. Fast and friendly service. The congee is decent and good consistency. I particularly enjoyed the LiWan style. Don't forget to have some dough sticks to go with the congee. The chang fun (rice noodles) has a lot of vegetable fillers and the noodle is a bit thin, but you could tell it is freshly made which it should be.
I stumbled upon this Chang Fen place, and it was bustling with customers – a testament to its popularity. Despite the unexpected wait of 10 minutes to be seated, the experience was well worth it. The Chang Fen they serve here is nothing short of delicious, and what amazed me most was the quick preparation time, just around 5 minutes. However, the dim sum was just okay in comparison. The real star of the show, though, was their Hong Kong milk tea. It struck the perfect balance between sweetness and strength, making it one of the best I've had in a while. I highly recommend giving it a try. Overall, despite the initial wait and the average dim sum, this place earns a solid recommendation from me for its delectable Chang Fen and outstanding Hong Kong milk tea. Highly recommend!
Good experience with hearty, healthy, and delicious food options. I liked their walnut custard buns and siu mai!
This place has the best catonese style dim sum. Everything made fresh here. Their rice porridge is very yummy. Their buns are freshly made. We also love there salted york custard black bun. It is definitely a must try!! Somehow it is weird that this restaurant does not provide you normal soy sauce. I wish they did because sometime you want to dip the dumpling in the soy sauce a bit. But overall everything is very delicious here.
I like the food and for my son who is a picky eater, he loves it. The portion is just enough and for those looking for food that are less greasy, this is a place for a nice meal.
Was looking for a dim sum place that was good and not a long wait for a Sunday. The total wait time was about 10 minutes even with a full house which wasn’t bad. The dim sum selection wasn’t as extensive as a typical dim sum restaurant but it has some of the main items I like such as: siu mai, shrimp dumpling, and shrimp rice roll. The congee was really good and cheap. One bowl is good for two people. We didn’t know that so got two bowls. Add the chinese donut and you’ll be set. They didn’t have chicken feet like the traditional dim sum spots. This is a small little joint but the service was fast and efficient. Soy sauce isn’t on the table so you’ll have to request it but they’ll give you some quick in a small tray.
We came to Yin Ji Chang Fen today for their Chang Fen. What's Chang Fen you ask? Rice roll with fillings in the middle oftentimes meat and vegetables cooked in a Hong Kong or Cantonese styled way. I ordered their marinated beef rice noodle roll and boy was it delicious! Compared to other dim sum places that offer rice noodle it is almost night and day. Your typical dim sum spot usually has a thicker version of rice noodle. Oftentimes steamed and may be on that steam top for hours at a time. That makes the texture of the rice noodle way too firm and oftentimes it is difficult to eat a lot of it due to the carbs stuffed in them. Not the rice roll from Yin Ji Chang Fen! Theirs are made fresh and what you can tell is the tenacity of the texture on the chew. A definite 5 out of 5 from me. Oh, try their porridge too. If you are a porridge guy like myself, the selections are plentiful and you won't be disappointed. Will I be back? Sure and well you should too!
I was skeptical coming here to get dim sum, but decided to give this place a try and I don't regret it. I loved every dish they had especially their marinaded shrimp rice noodle roll + congee. To top everything off, the lava molten bun was amazing! Service was amazing as the staff were attentive. As for ambiance, the restaurant was clean and modern. Highly recommend this spot if you're in the area!
This place is a cantonese classic restaurant that has some good rice noodle dishes. It also has some solid porridge and chinese doughnut For two grown men we got 2 rice noodle dishes, one chinese doughnut, one porridge, one drink, and it came up to around $40 after tax and tip not too bad. Overall restaurant is ur typical tight cantonese restaurant. They take card and parking lot has small spots but still plenty
this place is amazing for traditional chinese food and their flavors are impeccable. i’ve ordered their chang fen/rice noodle roll (picture 1) and porridge and they’re both delicious. my favorite thing from this place has got to be the pork and preserved egg congee. they add magic into that thing because it’s got me so hooked. i’m definitely coming back whenever i’m in the area :)
Their porridges are thick, hot and satisfying. Their rice rolls are also delicious along with the dim sum. Ordering through their QR code was much easier and less pressure for me plus it had plenty of pictures and good descriptions of each item. I appreciate that they always provide extra bowls and spoons for sharing. Unisex restroom available but be prepared to wait during weekends.
Fairly priced restaurant famous for the rice boodle roll dishes! They also serve many kinds of porridge and dimsum. The best dish is the deep-fried dough. Freshly fried, super crispy and aromatic. It pairs with porridge perfectly. The rice noodle roll is tender, and the sauce is well blended. The black milk tea is a little too sweet. Tea flavor is stronger than usual milk tea. Strongly recommended.
Great food and service! Sometimes the wait is long, but it’s worth the wait!
Specialty restaurant, rice porridge and stuffed rice noodles. The porridge was of good texture. The fried dough rice noodles were also quite delicious. The egg rolls, though crispy, didn't quite like the stuffing. Overall, enjoyed the meal

I have passed by the other day and find out this place. Today we stopped by and try it out. The place is small but full of customers. The menu does not have a lot of foods, but they have their specialty items and they are good. I have ordered congee, hacao, xiucao, rice plate and chang fen. They are good. I will stop by next time. Is anyone a fan of those foods? Give it a try!
yummy spot to eat chang fen and congee! we tried the chang fen with shrimp (delicious, loved the veggies in there too) and the chang fen with a you tiao inside (also solid), as well as the preserved egg and pork congee and the liwan style assorted congee. both congees were delicious, but both also couldve used a Little more of the fillings in there 😅.
Nothing hits the spot like a good bowl of congee. This Yin Ji store taste a little different than the ones in Canada and the menu is much smaller. It is still good and hearty but I wish they had the fried donut available which is the perfect compliment to congee
This restaurant, in Mipitas, is similar to the original restaurant in Pleasanton/ Livermore. It does offer a more extensive menu. The Chang Fen fillings are not as substantial. The congee quality is comparable, so is the pricing. It is worth a visit.
I love cheng fen! It's my favorite dim sum dish. Happy to come here for a late lunch turned early dinner since their hours are flexible, and unlike many other dim sum/chinese spots, their cheng fun is not sold out by the early PM. That said, they have a variety of rice noodle rolls and I got my usual beef + shrimp styles. The rice noodles were very soft and silky, actually it was hard to pick it up with the chopsticks without the insides spilling out since it was so thin. The soy sauce kept it nice and moist, though it could have a bit more flavor. Portions could be a tad bigger, I think I could eat 4 of these easy. For the other items, the jook (porridge/congee) was filling, with a good amount of egg/meat. The shrimp/scallop dumplings were decent, but for $7.25/4 pc, it's a steeper price for 'less' when compared to your local aunties' dim sum carts. Also would NOT recommend: fried tofu (dry/bitter), or dough stick/Chinese donut (dry) Service was great, they serve hot water by default, there's plenty of seating but just 1 single occupancy restroom. People speak canto, mando, and English here. I would definitely come back to get my cheng fen fix if I am in the area!
Typical Chinese eatery with bright and clean space. Service was quick and friendly. Food can be ordered via QR code on the table or with a server I like the variety of Chang Fen (noodle wraps) they offer. Will definitely visit more often to try them all out The noodle wrap and wrap for Dim Sum items is thin and smooth that melts in the mouth The pork liver and kidney herb soup was surprisingly good - liver was soft, not tough and dry
This place is very good overall. They specialize in Steamed Vermicelli Roll Cantonese style. But their menu is quite extensive. I think their congee is better than most Chinese places I have been to because it came out burning hot which I like. The place was busy so we were placed on waiting list for about 20 minutes. You scan the QR code on your table to place your order. I have 3 stars for the atmosphere because the place is small and not a fancy place. You would come here for Southern Chinese food and not the ambience. Price is reasonable.
Good place for rice noodle roll! We tried the one with shrimp and beef, also the one with BBQ pork, all are good! Remember to add the egg. The rice noodle skin is very thin but tender. Generally this place is very popular, we arrived on a weekend around 12:30 and there was already a line outside. We waited 20-30 mins to get a seat. But once you're seated, the service is pretty quick.
Parking: plaza parking. Cleanness: average. Food: Rice noodles are very fresh and thin. Chicken steam rice and pork steam are made to order, which is great. Both take about 25 mins. These foods have a light taste, and say sauce is provided to customers to adjust the food taste. Price: about average.
Went here on a suggestion from a friend. Service was good as was the food. This place used to be Beijing Chef. I ordered the beef and noodle dish. A spicy dish for sure. Very tasty. We also ordered a crispy pork piece dish, not too bad, did not particularly enjoy the cartilage part, but my friend did. Not my cup of tea as they say. Overall, not a bad place to eat, I will probably revisit.
This place popped up on my social media and since I love me some good rice rolls, knew I had to check it out. Arrived in the area around 12, but wasn't yet hungry so we went shopping next door. Coming out of the store around 1, there was a good amount of people waiting outside. We put our name down on the list and probably ended up waiting 15-20 minutes. We were able to order via QR code which was nice. Here are the highlights that I would recommend: • Marinated beef rice noodle roll • LiWan style assorted congee • Dough stick The dim sum is okay, but I wouldn't necessarily order it unless you're really craving it. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any rice roll or congee. Definitely add the toppings for the congee. Overall a good experience and tasty food.. Parking is easy since there's a lot. They do get busy so be prepared to wait. You probably won't wait too long as items come out quickly.
Clean and beautiful dining facility next to a big Asian grocery store. Great service and staff were very attentive without rushing us. The prices for the food is pretty good - $8 per dish. We got 3 things for 2 people and it was definitely enough. The food tasted pretty fresh but I thought it was also bland. The ambience was pretty nice inside for the Chinese restaurant. It felt new and the bathroom was clean.

Total Score: 5.17 Bathroom: N/A Didn’t use the bathroom Customer Service: 2.5/5 No service really, nothing to comment. Gave us the water and that’s it Ambiance: 3.5/5 Lots of random trophies on the walls, so lots to look at. But other than that, classic Chinese restaurant vibes Food: 2.75/5 Food was alrighttt. The Zhang liang was super soggy and the you tiao was not crispy at all. The shrimp Chang fen was so structurally unsound could not even pick up a piece. Can’t really eat it. I’ve seen better Chang fen. Rest of the food was fine. Wow: 0/1 Normal Chinese restaurant Total Score = (CS + 2*AM + 5*FOOD + WOW)/0.9
Pass by the dining hall and punch in! There are not many people, so you can sit down without an appointment. The environment is clean, the skin of rice rolls is too thick, the meat inside is too thick, the porridge and rice rolls taste ordinary, but the ginger juice hits the milk very well! Maybe everyone's taste is different, you should try it.
We tried 3 types of porridges; pork and century eggs, beef and fish, all pretty great until they started changing texture, from thick to diluted, indicating they are using cornstarch to thicken their porridge. Kinda lame. Custard egg bao was small and a little dried up inside, rice rolls are decently good, and I enjoyed the taro dumplings the best despite the skin being torn when served. People are nice here, will be back only for taro dumplings.

Very small place and the way they treat you is not nice, force you to sit in places you don’t want to and they are only nice to you if they know you. Food is ok would be disappointed if you go all the way to guangzhou and you get this. No rice flavor in rice roll

Instead of writing response to customers' numerous complaints about your awful customer service. Just fix the awful service. Do training. Put a name tag on every staff. Reinforce accountability. Fire those who are rude and get complaint from. Voila! Problem solved!
