Celebrated my 24th birthday here and it was a great time! Apps were amazing, drinks were strong, and the service was excellent. They gave not just me, but the whole table complimentary birthday shots!! We had an issue with one of the food items and they comped it no questions asked. Our server was super kind and he generously took some pictures for us! Perfect place to go for larger gatherings. The vibe was everything and if it's nice out they keep the garage doors open!
Really good smash burger, a bit pricey for a burger, but very very tasty. Great beer options, friendly bartenders and staff. Cool place and would eat there again
UPDATE: Returned for an evening outing. It is still great, although it is much noisier with the large doors closed and a bigger evening crowd. That did not detract from it just being a fun place! Our shared fries were perfectly done and the side of garlic aioli is a big plus! The artichoke dip bread bowl was super tasty but a bit unwieldy for sharing. We'd still get it again. As you can see from the pics, we made short work of them both! Special shout to Grace, our server. She was friendly and efficient. Sam, the owner, was making the rounds of the tables and was very nice. He shared that he is starting a neighborhood loyalty program with some seriously nice perks. Loved this place!! It was a warm night so we had the benefit of the open doors/walls. Staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions. I LOVED the citrus dessert.....outstanding!
We went to the J. Henry and Sons dinner that they hosted. I've been to Merriment before: once for dinner and once for the burger feature/special/happy hour thing that they do. This is a solid place to go eat. The servers and staff are always friendly and personable. The dinner that we went to was family style and had meals paired with various J. Henry and Sons bourbon. It was well thought out - I hope they continue to host things like this in the future.
I’ve been wanting to come to this restaurant for a very long time. I thoroughly enjoyed every second I was there. We made reservations for an early Saturday lunch, and it was really nice. The customer service from the hostess to our waiter (with the purple hair) were extraordinary. The meal choices were amazing. We had the chicken and waffles and the avocado salad bowl with grilled chicken. The strawberry mock tail was refreshing. The space is wide and airy. This is a gem of a spot in the Third Ward. I will be back. . .
Nice place. Great atmosphere and staff. Super friendly and helpful on what to pick on the menu. We went on Sundays brunch so a very nice selection. We had the merriment burgers and cheese curds along with water and Malibu Sunrise. Highly recommend this place, we will definitely be coming back. Thank you Lia for a really great first impression of this place. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Lovely brunch spot! We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and there was plenty of tables available. They have nice music and a relaxing atmosphere. Unique and fun decor. We ordered the "Elvis crepe cake" and the "smoked meat everyday" . The crepe was on point and not too sweet. The smoked meat was absolutely delicious and had a great combination of flavors. The staff was very attentive and friendly. They also have a ton of drink options. Great place overall! Will definitely be returning.
In my opinion, this should be on everyone's list to try. Their food is exquisite and memorable. The best smash burgers in Milwaukee served on a delicious milk bun. I love this restaurant.
Had a reservation to meet some friends for brunch. That live in Milwaukee and we met them at this place. It did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was very bright and relaxed and the food was amazing. Large portion if you are a Milwaukee Boulevard apologize this is a good place to try
Staff was very friendly and the overall atmosphere is great. The food was pretty good. Felt like the appetizers were slightly more flavorful than the actual burger I order (the burger was still good but felt like it could have been a little better in flavors.) Beer selection was good Whiskey selection was superb!
Had a reserved brunch for my 40th birthday and the most wonderful customer service in a pinch. I originally booked a place and had no communication from them 8 days before my event and got nervous. I found Merriment Social on OpenTable and they had great reviews. Joe was fantastic in reaching out, following through, and giving me my options. We booked the Mezzanine which was semi-private, but our own space. They created signature drinks and and a colorful menu. I really felt the love! The food was also fantastic! Everyone complimented the food choices...get the chicken and waffles and Brussel sprouts y'all! I'd highly recommend this place!
An excellent dining experience perfect for the morning after a night out brunch, at a perfect price! We stopped in after a late night out to fuel up and grab a drink to shake off the night. We started with their cheese fries that were covered with spice and jalapenos, which went great with our bloody mary (the only average part of the experience, get one and if you like go for the unlimited) After that we all got the brisket hash. A great combo also perfectly seasoned. The brisket was tender and juicy and was a good portion. The brussel sprouts that come with it are out of this world! I eat sprouts often, but had to ask what they add to give it the sweetness. GET THEM!!! The service was great as well. It wasn't very busy as we got there right when they opened, and it picked up within the hour. We were even approached by the manager on our way towards the door to make sure we enjoyed everything. One of the must try spots in Milwaukee!!!
One of the most eclectic restaurants/ bars in the area. Located in a very convenient walking distance of most of the major stops in the Third ward. Service was fast and very friendly. Lots of different drinks and food choices. Patio was very spacious and dog friendly.
Took a trip to Milwaukee for my birthday and found this gem. Easily the best food and Bloody Mary’s my husband and I have EVER had. Staff is amazing and all around a great atmosphere.
A very nice place, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Brunch time was cool. I highly recommend the place.
Absolutely fantastic. Every dish for all 5 of us was great. Service at the bar and table was friendly and knowledgeable. Drinks were delicious, Bloody Marys were good. Just a terrific spot, the interior and decor is great -- an all-around fantastic destination.
Food was excellent same goes with the service. We order so many things some same dishes and they were all delicious. Can’t wait to come check this place out again.
Flavor balanced to a T. Merriment social is a great place to go after work for dinner and drinks, and their eclectic tastes are sure to please. Known for their dim sum, this Walker's Point gem is everything youd want for a first date, or after a long day.
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS BURGER !!! ALSO AMAZING BLOODY MARY- house made mix, I was in heaven. WAY underrated for a brunch place:) I absolutely loved my experience there. Will Definitely come back 10/10.
Came to this place with my wife after a Saturday afternoon shopping excursion and OMG!!! We had a waitress named Grace and she was magical, she noticed every table she was working and took care of all of us with the speed of a ninja all while making sure there was new silverware dried and wrapped! The menu is phenomenal the atmosphere is excellent and the service is A-1!!!
The food was AMAZING! Staff so warm and friendly! The gave out 7yr old birthday girl money bread with a candle! We had brussel sprouts, cinnamon french toast and apple pie donuts! All sooooo good! You must eat here!
Food and drinks were great. Got the breakfast manhattan, grandma's coffee, chicken & waffle and biscuits and gravy. All really good. Decor/ambiance is fun too.
Open and airy industrial building serving some great food! Fish tacos were delicious as well as the award winning mac and cheese! Service was great as well.
Super cute restaurant! Good food and even better service. Went for a team dinner with colleagues and everyone was pleased. I had the beef sandwich and it was delicious
We hosted our family rehearsal dinner and "night before wedding drinks for friends" here. Everyone had a phenomenal experience, with both the food and the service! It was the perfect place to kickoff my daughter's wedding festivities! Joe was amazing to work with to make all of the arrangements. Highly recommend for your event!
Stopped here Saturday morning for brunch. Use to visit this location years ago when it was the MOCT night club, had to stop in and see what it was like now! So happy we chose to stop; we found Merriment Social to be a warm, welcoming environment with pleasant staff. We chose to sit at the bar. Husband had an omelet type dish. I had avocado sourdough toast with a fruit bowl. After ordering, I noticed there were a couple other dishes I could have had altered slightly to meet my vegan preferences - look forward to trying one of those on our next visit. Service was friendly and efficient. Pricing was reasonable. Didn’t have alcoholic beverage during this visit, but bartender mentioned an all you can drink mimosa was available this day. Also saw some visitors enjoying bloody Mary’s that looked really good! Atmosphere was clean and beautiful with lots of plants. Would be interested to know if they open the overhead garage type doors during the warmer months. Would love to visit in the summer and enjoy the outdoor seating as well!
Great service, great food.. slightly too dark to see the menu, but love the ambiance
Merriment Social: The Unforgettable Highlight of Our Wedding Weekend Choosing Merriment Social for our rehearsal dinner was one of the best planning decisions we made. It set an incredible, celebratory, and fun tone for our entire wedding weekend and truly ended up being one of the major highlights for all of our guests. Our initial planning partnership with Joe was absolutely wonderful. He was a phenomenal guide in planning the event and, most importantly, in choosing the perfect menu. Joe was incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about creating an experience that reflected our taste. He made the process easy and exciting, and his recommendations were spot on—our guests raved about the food all weekend long! The vibe and atmosphere at Merriment Social are unmatched. The space is unique, stylish, and immediately puts everyone in a festive mood. Beyond the gorgeous setting, the service provided by the staff was impeccable. They were professional, warm, and attentive to every detail, ensuring drinks were full and plates were cleared seamlessly. They executed the evening flawlessly, allowing us to simply relax and enjoy time with our closest friends and family. If you are looking for a venue that provides amazing food, unique atmosphere, and a flawless planning and execution experience, Merriment Social is the only choice. — Jason and Kate
Great food and cocktails! Fun and energetic atmosphere. Friendly, quick service. I really enjoyed the whipped feta dip appetizer and the bowl options on the menu. The avocado bowl with chicken was delicious and full of flavor.
If you’re searching for a Sunday brunch in Milwaukee that feels relaxed, flavorful, and refreshingly unpretentious, Merriment should be on your radar. While we didn’t sample their lunch or dinner offerings, our brunch experience was more than enough to make an impression. Atmosphere & Vibe ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One of the main reasons we ended up at Merriment was because nearby Toast (a fantastic brunch spot in its own right) was absolutely slammed. Merriment, by contrast, offered a bright, airy dining space with tons of natural light. The open layout and welcoming vibe made it the perfect place to slow down and actually enjoy a Sunday morning. It’s the kind of space that makes you want to linger a little longer over coffee. Brunch Menu ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ What stood out immediately was that the menu wasn’t overwhelming. Instead of dozens of choices, Merriment keeps it focused — which honestly helped reduce the dreaded “decision fatigue” that often comes with brunch menus. Sausage Potstickers – Simple, hearty, and exactly what you want in a comfort brunch dish. Breakfast Pastrami Bagel – Juicy, flavorful, and the star of the meal. Definitely a must-try if it’s available. Why Choose Merriment? For us, it was the combination of food and atmosphere. Every dish we tried was solid in taste and portioned well. While it may not be reinventing brunch, Merriment nails the balance between simplicity and satisfaction. Toast is still great, but Merriment offered plenty of seating, faster service, and an environment that felt open and unrushed — a huge plus when you’re trying to enjoy brunch with friends. If you want Milwaukee brunch without the crowd stress, Merriment delivers with good food, an approachable menu, and one of the most inviting, naturally lit spaces in town. While the menu is smaller, it works in their favor, letting each dish stand out without trying too hard.
We had brunch here with friends. The atmosphere is a lot of fun. It was busy, but not packed. We enjoyed most of the food that we ordered. However, the meats on the cheese board tasted off and had some discoloration. We eat everything and we didn’t have any desire to finish the salami. The entrees were good, but nothing that was as remarkable as the cheese curds…they were served in a ramekin as fresh curds melted with a crispy topping and croquettes. It was unique and delicious. Our drinks were good. The cocktails were interesting. I had a Bloody Mary and it definitely hit the spot.
In general the food was good. The menu offers modern American cuisine dishes. The cheese curds appetizer was not what we were expecting and little on the plain side. However there main dishes (merriment burger, shell and cheese and hanger steak ) were very good.
It was a great time. Food was good. A bit loud for our friend groups liking. Thicc Pretzel was good as were the dipping sauces. The Cream City Special burger was good. In my opinion could have done without the beer cheese. Really overpowered the taste of everything else. When you could break is down a little and taste everything separately, it did taste great! Especially the Dill pickles with the cream City sauce. If I get the Cream City burger again, it will be without beer cheese. Will be back to try the Philly Cheese French Dip. Server seemed a bit inexperienced and didn't check on us to much. Won't hold that against her to much though. It was very busy and a Saturday night. I can't remember her name, but she was very nice and friendly.
A short but tasty experience. Location and environment. A nice location in the hipster area, lots of apartments, bars and happenings. Close to the summer fest grounds and downtown. Parking is street parking anywhere you can find it. If there is not a big event in the city it should be okay finding some. The place itself is a wide open area perfect for big groups and to keep a steady climate. Decorated nicely with some standout features, see image of plant wall. Service and atmosphere. Lots of goings on here and always seems busy with lots of groups. A relaxed smart casual atmosphere. The service was fast and professional. To the point but of a higher brow. Food and drink. Like many places in the area this was a set short menu from a rotating head chef. Limited to seasonal and interesting things, it was was hard to find a good safe option to pick. The drinks were plenty and handmade with special touch's. Overall, a pleasant and unbothered experience. Nothing too exciting from this place but if want a business date here is the place.
Good atmosphere, really quick service. The waiter River was friendly and explained the food well.
The monte Cristo egg rolls were good, although I didn't care too much for the sriracha-maple combination. Overall, pleasant experience.
Ordered the Cream City Special burger and baked cheese curd appetizer. Both were very tasty, the burger was super filling and it had two patties which I wasn’t expecting. The appetizer portion was very small especially considering the price ($13), only about four bites of food and since it was baked all the cheese curds melted together. The burger at $16 is also pretty steep, wish it was $12-14 & go with one less patty. The waiter was nice and decor of the restaurant very interesting to look at. Overall flavors very good but a bit pricy.
Great food and fun atmosphere. Make sure you make a reservation if you have a large party since this is a prime MKE food and brunch location.
This place is in a cool old garage of some sort. Great place for brunch. The food was a little different.
Overall nice place. Very limited menu. All food for our party was good and delivered extremely fast. Would recommend overall if you’re in the mood for a good burger and a $20+ burger doesn’t make you think twice. Non burger options were good as well.
We met here for dinner during happy hour. All of us ordered drinks. They were blended quite well. I had a rum punch, which was interesting to see in slushy form, but it was pretty good. I thought it could have used a little squeeze of lime or something to make it more tangy. We ordered french fries with garlic aïoli, cheese, curds, fried brussels sprouts, and I had the crispy shrimp burrito. The french fries and cheese curds I think were my favorite. I love the french fries that have the little flaky crispy bits on it so those were pretty tasty. The brussels sprouts Were good, but they needed some balance. They could have used more salt and a little bit of acid like a drizzle of balsamic. It was just a bit one note and very sweet. But the brussels sprouts were cooked very well. The crispy shrimp burrito was disappointing to me. I had a feeling that the shrimp would not be crispy inside of the burrito because it was beer battered. I was right the shrimp got quite soggy inside of the burrito and they seemed like they might have been a bit undercooked. It was also strange to me how the burrito was served. It came cut in half cut side down on a sizzling cast-iron skillet with liquid cheese. Inside the burrito, there were very large pieces of red cabbage. The texture of the burrito was a bit offputting with the soft beans soggy shrimp And very crispy crunchy cabbage. I probably would not order this again. When I go again, I think I will order a burger. The service was great and the atmosphere was nice other than it being quite chilly inside.
First time here this last Sunday. I would definitely go back for the crab cake Benedict. I could really taste the dill in the hollandaise sauce and the crab cakes were perfect in texture and taste… unfortunately I rated this experience an overall 3 stars because the Nutella beignets were just not it.. first of all, they were more like large chocolate pudding donut balls. I am convinced that someone in the kitchen brought in leftover donuts and microwaved them and served them on a plate with a dust of powder sugar. The “donut” itself was not a beignet at all. It was dry and the outside was cold to the touch but the inside was warm. The inside resembled chocolate pudding and not Nutella. These could have been executed way better. I was looking forward to them but disappointed.
The food was just ok . The only thing that stood out , was the cinnamon roll. The crab cake Benedict was uneventful so the chicken on the chicken and waffle was rather dry . Service was good the waitress was very good , thats the reason for 3 stars . The food is 2 stars it's not offensive but mid .
First visit. Average food at bistro prices. The grilled cheese birria enjoyable, the sides fries chunky not thin. The Brussels sprouts were a bit oversweet as they included both honey and bits of pie crust. I would have enjoyed this dish much more without the latter and some balsamic vinegar. Generous amount. The server very friendly and divided our sandwich when we said we would split everything without being asked. When we got our bill, we noticed a 3% surcharge supposedly to smooth out prices. What? He offered to remove which we accepted. Beware of this. Upbeat setting.
The building is awesome, food was good. Poor service from our server Matthew G. He didn’t even place our drink order, nor did he bring our drinks to us. He placed our food order, and another waitress brought it out for us. Matthew did not even come to our table to ask how things were. We had to grab napkins and silverware from the bartender after our food was served. After our meals we had to ask a waitress who our server was, after that Matthew showed up to take our money. We are very good tippers, however, he only got 10%, which was not even deserved. Poor first experience here. Will come back during the evening hours for hopefully some better service!
The string lights should have been the first sign. Get ready to pay $6 too much for the most mid brunch entrees this side of the river. They gotta figure out what they’re good at and stick to it. French dip brunch item was atrocious. “Salmon sushi bowl” came with an overcooked fillet. Front of house staff were delightful! Back of house get it together!
I never really leave Google reviews but I’m just bummed. Have been going to Merriment for years and it’s always been solid, and they’ve always had the best fries in the city. Last night I ordered fries as a treat (because $10 for fries is definitely a treat) and they’re no longer the battered, fluffy fries we know and love. They weren’t crispy at all, seem like they’re from a freezer. If I’m going to pay $10 just give me something good! Bring back the fries!
I've been here several times through the years. Usually it's been a pretty solid spot and the food has been great. It has a fun vibe. But this time, while seated right away, we sat at a table for 20 mins without any staff even bringing some water let alone being asked if we wanted to order a drink or food. After several staff members walking past our table without a word, we left. I understand being busy but if no one can even bring a glass of water and say "I'll be with you shortly" within 20 mins, that's not really excusable and pretty disappointing.
We had dinner here last night for Valentine’s Day. The service was amazing and our waiter was super friendly! However, our food was very dry (smash burger, fish tacos, and lemon cake). The fish on the tacos was burnt to the point where the skin was pointy and cut the inside of my mouth lol and we were wondering if the cake was gluten free because it was so dense and hard to cut through. We also got the deconstructed cheese curd dip and it was fun to try but I wouldn’t recommend it. I would like to say we would go back because the staff was so nice but the food for the price point wasn’t worth it. Hopefully we just had a bad batch.
$9.00 for French fries, wingets, not full wings, $12 for six. Food was a five outta 10, Fries all stuck together. No carrots just celery, Service was so so waiter was not inviting even though it was almost empty, few people
