Opinions de Gus & Andy's Kitchen & Bar Montrose
The food is off the charts! I’ll have to say the breakfast burrito & the tri tip sandwich are some of my favorites. The chocolate dessert is just crazy good. Behind the bar is lots of friendly faces and we have specialty drinks with a great choice of draft beers by the pint or pitcher. There is also an excellent selection of liquors to satisfy everyone’s needs.
Gus and Andy’s is a great new restaurant and bar with a fresh, casual vibe in Montrose. The food is delicious and the service is phenomenal. The menu ranges from tri-tip and razorback pork belly sandwiches to breakfast burritos and burgers. And their drink menu covers everything under the sun from cocktails to beer. If you’re looking for a fun, easy place to grab a bite to eat and have a drink, look no further than Gus and Andy’s. Highly recommend!
Food is always great here and so are the drinks. It's pricey but worth it.
The best French toast I’ve ever had in a restaurant place. The chicken and waffles are so good too. Oh and the coffee! Everything we ordered was pretty much great. The staff are so friendly and kind. Would be coming back to take all my work meetings here. A lot of parking spaces. Quiet neighborhood.
I LOVE this place! I've been here several times and each time I am greeted immediately (not the case with every business/restaurant) and they are very hospitable. I like to try different items when I eat out, unless I really like a dish, then I'll order it again. Hubby enjoys their breakfast burrito (served all day), overloaded chili tots, chili cheese fries and my daughter enjoyed their chicken tenders with fries, which I've gotten myself and they're good. I've ordered their grilled chicken sandwich a couple of times. We are truly repeat customers. Love the music they play and just the overall feel of this place. Customer service is top notch! I really hope they stay for a long time.
Gus & Andy's is such an awesome restaurant! It has everything you'd expect from a diner (breakfast, burgers, shakes, etc ) and even a bar in the back! The indoor/outdoor seating is so fun too on warm California days! I got the Country Style Breakfast Burrito, and it was the most delicious breakfast burrito I've ever had! My wife had the Chicken Supreme Sammich and said it was the best Avocado Chicken Sandwich she's ever had! We will definitely be coming back!
Love the wide variety menu. Some of the best chilaquiles north of the border to exquisite banana French toast. The taste of the food here is uniquely delicious. I wish I could hire this chef for my own
The drinks were amazing. Andrew was a major pro with mixing any kind of drink. He was very pleasant and welcoming. The food was also very delicious. I am such a French fry snob, these fries are THE BEST, crispy and delish. If you ever find yourself around this area, definitely stop by as it was good food, good vibes, and amazing drink selection. We got to meet Gus, who the restaurant is named after, he sat at a table next to us, and he was so nice and welcoming to the restaurant of his namesake. Plenty of handicap accessibility options, ramp outside the restaurant, and elevator inside the restaurant and handicap specific seating inside the restaurant. Very welcoming for all groups. Will come back here as soon as I can. I love Gus & Andy’s, it’s my new favorite restaurant.
Came here after with one teenager and two kids. The boys all raved about the fries and BLT sandwich. The teenager also thought his bagel breakfast sandwich is amazing. The server was extremely nice and helpful. I am so glad we picked this place for dinner.
We were greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant. The menu is extensive and full of the most wonderful choices. I had the G&A burger. It was so juicy, delicious, and finger licking good. The onion rings are so crisp and yummy. The bartender is a pro and can make any cocktail you could image. We watched him make specialty drinks for the couple next to us which intrigued us to ask for our own. Andrew wow'd us with his expertise. This is a family restaurant, and we felt like we were part of the family from the moment we walked in the door. We will definitely be back. Our goal is to try everything on the menu!
This new eatery is near our home and office. We had lunch there today and it was such a treat. My husband had the BLT chicken sandwich and I had the backyard chicken taco. So delicious! The service was perfect and the staff is so attentive, and the place is really cute. I enjoyed reading the family history of the restaurant business they have painted on the wall. There is a very nice bar area in addition to the dining seating. The menu is quite extensive and everything was so fresh and good. We will definitely be back! 5 stars!
Gus & Andy’s is our favorite local spot that features not only consistently delicious food, but also the friendliest of services in the hands of the wonderful family that owns & runs it. My favorite dish is the gyro fries and you can’t go wrong with the avocado burger… with onion rings! Plus, they have a perfectly stocked bar with giant TVs, if you want to watch your favorite sports game comfortably.
YUM YUM YUM!!! We got the cheeseburger, chili cheese fries, regular fries, and pastrami sandwich. Everything was absolutely delicious. The burger tasted like an old school burger joint. Fries were extra crispy yet fluffy inside! The pastrami was super meaty. The chili was filling but not heavy. The staff was so super friendly & attentive. We will be coming back for sure!!!
Long awaited and did not disappoint. I have eaten there several time in the first week as I work locally, and each time I have enjoyed my meal, the service and the atmosphere. The 3 proprietors are very engaging and attentive. For those who seem to be disappointed about quality and pricing, my experience could not have been more different. Sure there are some bumps along the way when you open a new place, but I am willing to bet that once those are worked out, this place is going to be very successful. I will be a frequent and long term customer.
A new place in Montrose and it is a gem. It's a super place for a family lunch or dinner or to get drinks and food with friends. The food is spectacular and priced well and fair. They have really nice and sweet staff. The bar set up is awesome and you can enjoy a few sporting events as well. It's a great place. I will be going often and you should go try it for yourself. The owners were there when I visited. Cool spot. (I was there again and had the juicy pastrami sandwich with chili cheese fries -yum)
Took a quick detour on the drive home to the Bay Area from SoCal, and so glad we did. Food was great, very fresh and quality ingredients. Ahi tacos were delicious, salsas were fantastic and the breakfasts were excellent as well. Eggs cooked to perfection, hash browns not greasy, and french toast amazing. Service was great, and the restaurant and bathrooms were exceptionally clean, modern and well-maintained. I only wish we had a place like this where we live.
Great cozy atmosphere with a large menu that covers all you could want. Food has been exceptional at such a reasonable price. To get a large Chicago Dog with a decent serving of fries for under $9? Incredible.
Went to grab a bite and a drink after work the other day and was very impressed! The staff was very kind, welcoming, and social. The drinks were solid, and the food was exceptional! Andrew told me how the breakfast burritos there couldn't be beat, so I took him up on that the following morning. The crew and I loved them, and unanimously decided Gus & Andy's is going to be our new breakfast burrito spot! Would definitely recommend Gus & Andy 's to anyone who wants great food and drinks.
Great place to grab something to eat and have a drink!! I loved the inviting ambiance of this restaurant and the friendliness of the staff. I had the Ahi tacos and feta fries. The ahi was very fresh and the tacos had great flavor. The fries were so good with creamy feta on them. I highly recommend people try both items. I am looking forward to eating here again.
Gus & Andy’s is a very exciting addition to the community! The food and service are great, and it’s a very fun, casual atmosphere. The owners are also very welcoming and ensure you are well taken care of. They also serve one of the best homemade chocolate malts I’ve ever had - HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
First time we went with my daughter and son-in-law, fell in love with the place. We've been there several times since. Always a first choice when we're in that area. Really cool vibe, great for people watching, not to mention the outstanding food ! 😋
Gus and Andy's is the best restaurant and bar in town! The food is delicious and not too expensive! Gus and Andy provide that personable service that most establishments are sadly missing these days! Breakfasts are made from scratch at Gus and Andy's, not out of a box like their next door neighbors! The breakfast burritos are amazing and can be ordered all day....Give them a try!
My son loves coming here after a game. The vibe, service and food is great! Plus they support i9 youth sports! We will be coming back!
Stopped to get some food after a hike. As soon as I saw my food hit the table I knew I was going to order more. We got the Chicken Supreme Sandwich, Waffle, and a Avocado Bacon Cheeseburger. Fries had that nice crunch to them for anyone that liked texture
Great service! Jasmine in particular was amazing, and went above and beyond. But really the whole team was great, warm, friendly, and attentive. We felt like part of the Gus and Andy family. Menu is great, and fully available all day! There are also some brunch specials that are available until sold out. Special adult beverage menu. Kids menu as well. We got the chicken sandwich, banana French toast, and 3 eggs/hash/toast. All great portions. We took a bit home for a snack. Flavor was nice. Fries were good. They have a mayo based house hot sauce, and a green verde. And classic hot sauces available too which pair nicely with the sandwiches. Plenty of parking in public free lots on Montrose. Be aware this spot is open Friday-Sunday 8am-3pm only. Food was good, but the service was exceptional. Thank you Jasmine and Team!! Nice outdoor seating near the Honolulu and verdugo/Montrose intersection. Dog and kid friendly.
Great food, great new choices on the menu and a full bar too, if you need a cold drink after a hard day at work. The burgers come with fries. Had a veggie burger with cheddar on sourdough, delicious. Loved the shredded lettuce and the pickle wedge. Clean and welcoming atmosphere. Looking forward to my next meal there!
Nice people, good food, will definitely go back. The French fries are to die for lol will definitely have to bring our daughter sometime, very family friendly food. There's so much on the menu that I want to try and I usually can't say that. We had the grilled cheese, an omelet, a chocolate shake and a chocolate malt shake. Everything was very good. Might try a waffle or burrito next time.
Tom recommended us - we stopped in for lunch this past Weds. It didn’t disappoint. We arrived around noon and there were plenty of parking meters available. The restaurant is plenty big and nicely decorated with modern construction. Everything was spotless. We enter and are greeted immediately and I can feel the young man’s smile, even through his face mask. Never having been here before, we ask for recommendations and are given plenty of options. Being a bit health conscious that day, I order the kale salad with chicken while my coworker orders the pastrami and fries. Soda fountain is behind the counter but they come check on you and offer refills if needed, nice touch. Salad - wow this was good. The kale wasn’t hard or tough, could be they massaged it before serving which softens the texture of the greens. Loaded with tons and I mean TONS of chicken and feta. Also had pepitas which were a nice addition. I opted for the vinaigrette which was good, but I may just ask for vinegar next time to lower the fat content (no oil). Served in a pie tin, this salad at $14+$5 protein was extremely filling. Pastrami - this was a very generous serving with fries on the side, a few hot peppers and a side of ketchup. Definitely a “cheat meal” item, my lunch mate thoroughly enjoyed it and I believe him -his plate was clean! Lots of happy hour specials, would definitely dine here again to try additional items. The burgers sounded delicious, the kitchen was immaculate and the service spot on. 5/5, well done!
Had a great food and service A few days ago with some friends. Had the tri-tip and Ahi tuna sandwich, both of which I would rate a 4/5. I think both sandwiches needed a sauce that could take them over the edge and make them truly superior. Service was spectacular as the staff was constantly asking if they could bring anything else or check in on us to see how we were doing. Some of the best service I’ve seen in a long time which is great considering that there’s a lot of service shortage across the nation.
Finally got to try this place after much anticipation. I know it’s had mixed reviews, but please realize that the restaurant businesses have taken a huge hit during the pandemic. Starting anew can have its rough patches. Either way, I liked the layout and enjoyed the food. We tried a couple different sandwiches and they were both very good. I also had a coffee and tried the iced tea. I’m a big fan of the unsweetened iced tea. I want to try other things on the menu, but it’ll be hard to ignore the dip sandwich.
TriTip sammich was very good, stuffed grilled cheese stuffed with tritip sooooo good!
This was our first time visiting and we were very happy with their service and the quality of the food! Would highly recommend this place to anybody in the mood for an amazing meal!
Delicious! I had the Bayou Dip, and it was smokey, warmly spiced, and super good. This place is my new Montrose favorite.

OMG! I had the 2-2-2, two scrambled eggs, bacon and French toast. The best French toast ever! The perfect bite of cinnamon, powdered sugar and maple syrup. A1! Perfect breakfast with coffee! Best server too Michael! 😘
While I enjoyed the food and location, Emmie the bartender made the experience particularly exceptional. She was sweet and attentive! Would recommend. :)
Stopped for a latte. Great service and very inviting. Food looks amazing I'm going next week to give it a try. In and outdoor seating. Friendly staff also clean.
Went today with a group. Aurora and Michael were amazing taking care of our order and getting us a nice table. The food and service was outstanding. Their re-opening menu still has many of the same great breakfast items (especially the French Toast) and wonderful sandwiches and salads. Some new items like the Chicago Beef dip looked great. Everyone in our group were pleasantly surprised in how good the food and service was. We'll definitely be back....

3.5 rating, but I'll round up. The wife and I split a cheese burger($9) and the fish n chips basket ($13). The food arrived to the table hot and overall was okay. The burger patty had an interesting taste to it, maybe the seasoning used. It wasn't really off putting, but an unexpected taste. Fish was fine, not great. I didn't care for their tarter sauce. I enjoyed the hot fries, but could tell they wouldn't be good cold. Given the cost of current food prices, I didn't feel the cost of our meal was out of line.
Cozy restaurant/bar with decent food quality and options. Order at the counter, get a number and sit down. Food will be brought to your table. Full server service is only during bar hours. During busy hours, it might be hard to find street parking in front of the store, but there is a good size public parking lot in the rear.
It's a nice place to have sides and drinks at the bar. We ordered a burger and a spicy chicken sandwich. They tasted ok but we couldn't digest it. Their fries and zucchini is really good. And the servers are very nice.

I usually don't do reviews. However, this was my second time back with my coworkers. We ordered 2 G&A Burgers, 1 Stuffed Grill Cheese, and the Tri-tip with a Cesar salad. Shortly after, the grill cheese and 1 G&A came out, I waited about what felt like 10 minutes to say something the guys were halfway through with their meal and the 2nd G&A hadn't come out or my tip with the salad. Finally, our food came out, but at this point, we had to head back to work. We both are our meals, and I ended up taking the salad back to work. As I started to take a couple of bites, I found a dead fly in the Cesar. I ended up calling G&A to let them know about the salad. They did end up refunding my salad. The moral of my story G&A has friendly staff (when around). However, this is the second time service has been really slow. The food has been good minus the salad situation.
I'll tell you what's wrong with this place: the lighting. It's too bright and uninviting. It's not classy and feels like ordering at a fast food joint. If everything matched the vibe of the bar/upper seating area, it would be great. Just fix that and I'm sure customers will start flowing in. The exterior has warm, cozy decor with the fire sconces, but you step inside and are met with the exact opposite: office lighting! It's truly unpleasant and destroys the experience. The food is great, I enjoyed it a lot. They just need to work on the "vibes" of the lower entrance area. Make it cohesive with the upper area. This is the only thing that's keeping me from coming back. A restaurant's vibes are just as important as its food.
As you can see I'm giving a 3 star rating. Here's why. The service was great with a very friendly staff. I ordered the chicken strip sandwich and my wife a cheese burger. My sandwich was dry and had an overwhelming smoke smell and taste. When I asked about the smoke, I was then told they use wood to cook all the meat so everything they cook on the grill will have a smoke flavor to it. For me I'm not a big fan and not a good combo for a chicken sandwich. When I asked if I could get a little more of the sweet mustard as my sandwich was dry, I was given a small amount in a plastic side dish and charged for it rather than just adding a small amount to the sandwich. So overall I'm OK with the food but loved the service,
Food did not seem freshly prepared. Cheese had oozed out and was cold. Served on paper lined tray that turned soggy. Service was good and pleasant. Atmosphere was quiet for lunch. Place was clean
When I went to order i asked if the onion rings were breaded the cashier said yes. I did not order the onion rings because I like tempura onion rings. My husband ordered pastrami with the onion rings. We got our receipt and order. The onion rings were tempura and not breaded. The onion rings were an extra $5 the cashier did not mention it. My husband did not like the pastrami sandwich. The was not a lot of pastrami and he did not like the bread. He thought the bread was too dry and dense. The onion rings were perfect to me and so was my smash burger. I got the fries with it and there were good. Waiter was great and the other lady working there was helpful. I was not happy with cashier. My husband and I thought the food was a little overpriced especially his pastrami. We did not get drinks and it was about $50

The staff at Gus & Andy’s Kitchen & Bar were incredibly kind, and the customer service was top-notch. However, the food quality left a lot to be desired, especially for the price. I understand that this area is expensive, but $25 for a chicken sandwich that wasn’t even the worst I’ve ever had—just painfully mediocre? I genuinely would’ve preferred a cafeteria chicken sandwich over this one. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, and it was barely seasoned—just the lightest pinch of salt and pepper. The texture made it seem like the chicken was boiled and then quickly grilled for appearances. The bread was giving great value, and the lettuce was borderline inedible. The only saving grace was the fries—they were amazing and honestly carried the meal. I went with two friends, and our total (including tax and tip) was around $90 for three people. My friends got breakfast burritos, which were better than my sandwich but still not great. The biggest issue here is the lack of quality in the food—it just doesn’t taste good for what they’re charging. I was really excited based on the marketing about this being a restaurant passed down through generations, but if these recipes were in my family, I would’ve retired them by now.
Was very curious about the food here because the menu looks great but was very disappointed. Spent 62$, a waste. The sandwiches we ordered - the meat was extremely dry, we had to bathe it in sauce to eat it. The bread was gross and actually tasted stale. The French fries were good, the service / employees were super friendly- the food just sucked. Will not be giving this place a second chance unfortunately.

The only positive thing we had to say after our first time dining at Gus & Andy’s was we were happy they restored the façade close to it’s original appearance. - the interior felt sterile and slightly dated - fast food style ordering with sit down prices - the food…was not worth the high prices! My pork belly grill cheese sandwich was very short on cheese and my family’s meals were not much better. - finally, the customer service was terrible aside from the person that took our order. We have been loyal patrons to the shops and restaurants in Montrose for over 20yrs and shop/restaurant this will be the first one we will never return too.
