Chef Sam is great!! His food is always delicious, the best octopus, chicken francese and chicken parm is fantastic!!! I’ve recommended this restaurant to all my family and friends and everyone loves it. 16/10 stars if I could, I’ll always recommend Pavesi’s!
I think they changed their menu and it's great. Service, as always was fantastic. We were a group of 11 people and they were wonderful with our group. Will definitely go back.... More items on the menu I must try. 3/13/24-Had a wonderful dinner again before seeing a show at MPAC. Service was great along with the food.
The food was delivered quickly probably since we had an early dinner. Tianny was very knowledgeable about the menu that included the specials. She also did not need a pad to take our orders. The food was very good. We had desert which was also tasty. We will definitely check me back again.
Celebrating the end of school year high school teacher style at Pavesi!. For me, it was a delicious spaghetti carbonara accompanied by a perfectly dressed garden salad and the best freshly baked bread and olive oil in town. A perfect ending to the 2021-22 school year! I noticed they’ve added to their outdoor decor with garden accents and covered outdoor seating with beautiful lighting. I’m looking forward to enjoying their live entertainment this summer on Fridays and Saturdays. Always a great time! Wonderful experience all around tonight!
The sole was fantastic! Great food, atmosphere and service.
My cousins came to visit from Connecticut yesterday and we went to Pavesi for lunch. We had a really great time, it’s bring your own booze so we had a bottle of red & white. We had appetizers to die for and their bread was scrumptious. My cousins had short ribs and fish, my brother had veal and I had aldente rigatoni pasta as our main dishes and everything we had was amazing and cooked to perfection. The food, the presentation and the service was first class. Thank you Allah, you served us well. And thank you for holding the clothing left behind. We were happy it was still there the next day. I would highly recommend this place to my friends, family and anyone interested in good food and a nice atmosphere. It’s the kind of place You can go casual or dress up.
Great restaurant, love the byob places and I have never had a bad meal here. Great ambience and great place for a post dinner walk in and around the nightlife of South Street and the green in Morristown.
Fabulous restaurant on Morristown's main street. The mains were delicious, but those desserts.....O.M.G
Big portions, friendly staff. Recommended
A top shelf establishment. Sam is the head chef...his presentations and food quality are 5 star. We did a pre-show lunch...the salmon was energizing and light. The shrimp scampi flavor was wonderful. Thanks Sam, for a memorable signature desert...Canoli with fresh blueberries and sliced strawberries...just perfect. Dave & Gail Wayne, NJ
I only have good things to say about this place. My husband and I went there last night for our first night out since before this whole pandemic. The food was amazing and every course came out in a very timely fashion, I even said to my husband how fast the food was coming out. Everything was delicious. I particularly was impressed by (I think) The owner himself standing outside and making sure everything was running smoothly and all customers were being attended to, seated quickly, just to make sure everyone was happy, and personally thanked every customer when they got up to leave. Our waiter, Allah, was great, very attentive and quick to get whatever we asked for! We will definitely be back!
My sister is having a rehearsal dinner there for my nephews wedding. Met Moe the owner he is very nice! He really seems to care about his customers! Great prices! And this restaurant has little Italy charm. It drew me right in. Can't wait until October's big event!
I loved this restaurant! The food was excellent and the service was stellar. This place ran like a well oiled machine. Fausto, our waiter, and the two other men who served our bread, filled water glasses and served and cleared our food were all very attentive. Moe introduced himself to us, checking to make sure we were satisfied with our dining experience. All and all a wonderful evening.
This was our first visit to Pavesi. We where greeted immediately by the owner who went and found us the perfect outdoor table. Our server was quickly with us bringing water and bread. He did a wonderful job of pointing out both his and local favorites. We were a table of 4 who all ordered different dishes and we were all very impressed!
We had a great meal here last weekend. The food was yummy and the server was really nice. The only reason for 4 stars for service was because the server was spread a little thin in a very busy restaurant and sometimes it was hard to flag him down. We will definitely be back and really enjoyed our night out.
Love this restaurant! perfect location in motown! always great food and great service! they have the best outdoor seating section in motown during the spring and summer months!
we enjoy pavesi they make feel like family! I had the meatballs and chicken parm which was excellent and they serve great garlic knots !!
Everything was so delicious and the service was fantastic. We had the Burrata Special, Meatballs, Fettuccine Maremonte, and Mango Sorbet. We would recommend this place to our family and friends.
The best Italian restaurant in Motown!!! The food and service is excellent! The restaurant itself has such a cozy, relaxing, and upscale feeling to it. The best is the outdoor dining during the warmer months. The outdoor seating area is on the side of the building away from the main road so you are not interrupted by the traffic or people walking by but you can still enjoy the atmosphere of the town while dining!!! The owner always comes over and makes sure everything is ok. Love this place!!!
This place has really good food. I had the “vegetable tower”. It was delicious and the presentation was a work of art. I came in for date night last Saturday with my girlfriend and she had the snapper with crab meat, shrimp and corn and she felt like she was at a resort with good quality food. I also had Barbadella pasta with short ribs and topped with Fresh buffalo mozzerella. I will say quantity and quality was top tier. Best meal I had so far Morristown.
Absolutely love Pavesi! The food is absolutely delicious—authentic Italian flavors with every bite, from the perfectly cooked pasta to the rich, flavorful sauces. I’ve had several different dishes and one of my favorites is the short rib Tagliatelle, literally melts in your mouth. The service is always impeccable, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who made the meal even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with just the right mix of elegance and comfort. Highly recommend for a special night out or just a fantastic meal!
We dined here for a farewell for a friend. We had a great meal together and had a nice long chat with chef Sam. He is so nice and very thoughtful, he told us about his background as a chef and made our dining experience lovely. Great dining spot!!
We were there last night and our entire experience was outstanding. Excellent food, great congenial service, and were able to accommodate a member of our party with severe special needs. Everyone had nothing but raves. I will definitely be back
Pavesi Restaurant really blew us away. The food was incredible — every dish was a perfect blend of classic flavors with a creative twist, and somehow each one was better than the last. Moe, the owner, and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. They made the whole experience feel personal and relaxed while keeping things professional. The vibe, the service, the food — everything was spot on. Easily a five-star experience. If you’re looking for a meal you’ll remember, this is the place.
Total experience is wonderful. Food, atmosphere, and staff are amazing. If we could give 10 stars we would! Best Italian restaurant in town! Now they are open for lunch! great new lunch menu and great food. I’m there all the time!! Moe the owner greets each costumer and always makes you feel vip!
What an amazing meal! The vegetable tower and filet of sole were incredible. Chef Sam came to the table and chatted with us; he was very welcoming, along with the rest of the staff. Couldn’t have been happier with our experience!
Hands down one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the area!! Moe (the owner), and Sam (the chef) are some of the nicest and most caring people i’ve met. The bronzino and Crem Brûlée are to die for. So is the veal parm!!! Make sure you say hi to them and introduce yourselves! They really go above and beyond for you here, and the food will never let you down!
My new favorite spot in Morristown. As soon as we walked in, the owner made us feel like family and I could tell the other people sitting down felt the same way. Authentic vibe, the food was incredible and my family and I felt like we were back in Italy again. Morristown gem.
The food was absolutely delicious! Chef Sam works wonders in the kitchen. From the apps to the meals to dessert, everything was finger licking good. The hospitality at this restaurant was great too, we had two toddlers in our group and the staff was so attentive towards them. 10/10 recommend the chicken parm with vodka sauce!
Chef Sam is the absolute best! last week i tried the penne vodka and the lasagna. These dishes were outstanding! If you have the chance to meet the chef himself, take the opportunity! He is a pleasure to chat with and super knowledgeable. Thank you Chef Sam!
Very solid experience. The mussels alla Moe were delicious. The veal Pavesi was excellent and the service impeccable. Great outdoor dining with a musician. Great BYOB
Very fast service and comforting food. Loved the ambiance. They have BYOB, which is excellent for wine lovers who like Italian food. I loved their gnocchi in red sauce, however white sauce in Primavera could have been better. Overall we had a wonderful time there!
Loved the food, atmosphere, dining experience, as well as the live singer outside. I got the buratta special appetizer and pesto gnocchi. Chef was wonderful and came out and asked how the meal was and had a pleasant conversation. Waitress was wonderful and checked in frequently to make sure all was okay. The only con was the hostess. I walked in for a party of 1 and she told me there were no available tables for just myself and if I had a reservation. I told her I did not feel like I needed one since there was plenty of availability when checking the OpenTable app. I made one in front of her but she told me to come back in an hour due to no availability but I came back in 30 minutes with plenty of open 2 tops and was seated right away. Overall would recommend but I would probably try to have a reservation prior to avoid any difficulty.
Excellent food, service and ambiance. The place is byob. The food is delicious and red sauce is delicious. The garlic knots in bread basket are a real treat. We had bruschetta , chicken parm, penne vodka and chocolate mousse.
Food and service are very good, decor is lovely, live music was a plus.
Excellent meal as always. However, getting a bit pricey. 3 zucchini flowers for an app $26. I guess the rational is it's BYOB..so you save $50 on drinks. Still $100 PP
I enjoyed Pavesi, we went for a private engagement party event. The food was good, standard Italian food done well. However, the wait staff did not manage the table well. They didn't know who ordered what and were constantly asking "who ordered (this)?" I would eat here again if I was nearby.
***TLDR; I likely won’t come back because I wasn’t wowed by the food. I like Cafe Picasso in Somerville much better.*** Service: 3/4 stars, as we were seated and served very quickly and without a reservation. Service was SO attentive with trying to clear our tables, my bf and I felt a bit rushed. Maybe the busboys being efficient. My bf was pretty slow to finish the last bits of his food, as we both looked at our phones. But generally, we’d scarf our food down quickly if it’s very good and don’t even pay attention to our phones. Although it was busy when we arrived, there seemed to be no more people being sat and tables were emptying out. Maybe the bussers could’ve chilled a bit. Between ordering and getting the bill, we dined only for an hour flat. Atmosphere: 4 stars, this place is packed and intimate. My bf and I were seated at a two person table, next to another two seater. Separating our two seater tables was a clear, hard, plastic divider. It just seemed very cramped. Food: 2 or 3 stars, I was not impressed. First, the menu is limited. The menu is one double sided page. That can be okay, but you’d expect the dishes to be excellent. Small portions for everything and we were quickly served meatballs and calamari for our apps. Calamari was average. Meatballs tasted better than calamari. My entree, linguine in white clam sauce, did not bring me joy. I love this dish wherever I go, but the dish didn’t taste clammy at all. The sauce was thicker than I’m used to. My tastebuds say my family cooks better linguine in clam sauce than what I had here. While eating it, my mind longingly wandered to the leftovers in my fridge. My boyfriend had chicken parm, to which he said “It’s just mid.”
Food was somewhat tasty and decor is nice, but very small portions. Salmon was a bit plain, small and underwhelming, especially for thirty dollars. See pics. We were still a bit hungry after an app for two and two full entrees. Wife almost never finishes but this time she did easily.
My wife and I, along with my friend and his fiancé, had dinner at Pavesi last month. My wife and I had been raving about the restaurant to them for weeks, as our prior experiences have been top notch. This time however, I was very disappointed with Pavesi and I highly doubt that I will return. The issues began not too long after we were seated at our table. As we attempted to simply order our appetizers, the waiter insisted that we needed to put in our entrée order at the same time. We hadn't been at the table more than five minutes and already felt rushed. I understand that the restaurant was busy at the time, but he was harsh in his delivery and was unfriendly throughout the entire evening. We decided to order the "crab cakes" special that he presented. The dish was $18, and ended up only being prepared with ONE crab cake. I immediately looked around the restaurant to get someone's attention - I caught eyes with what appeared to be the manager/owner. He came over and I voiced my frustration that the dish was prepared with only one crab cake and we weren't made aware of that. He offered to make us another one, but I declined and told him my concern was more so on principle. Upon receiving the entrees, they we noticeably smaller in portion than the previous time we attended Pavesi (which was only a couple of months prior). This further soured my mood as I felt we had already been gipped on the crab cake appetizer. Not to mention the $12 bruschetta only came with 4 bite-sized pieces. Not much of an appetizer for a total of $30. After paying the bill I approached the manager/owner again and said, "first off let me tell you that your food is arguably the best in all of Morristown". My intention was not to be attacking, but rather to provide my honest feedback. I proceeded to say "but I don't feel its fair to charge $18 for a single crab cake, and for your server not to disclose that to the table". Instead of an apology or another sort of remedy, he says "Crab cake appetizer is only ever served with one crab cake, and I challenge you to find a restaurant serving it for less than $18". Last weekend, my friend that attended the aforementioned dinner sent me the picture below - $18 dish of 3 jumbo crab cakes from Spanos in Point Pleasant. Challenge accepted. Once again, I'm highly disappointed by the response from Pavesi that evening. Like I said, I was thrilled by my previous experiences but unfortunately I do not think I'll be back.
Food was average with small portions. Service was poor. Incorrect dishes were delivered to members of our party and passed around. Not good practice during pandemic. Desserts were left out for some guests. Multiple wait staff blatently ignored requests when waived over for assistance making eye contact then looked away. Staff was not wearing masks. 3% added for credit card pmt. $80/person avg for a 3 course BYO warrants a better experience.
Came here for dinner on Friday night. The place was busy and the ambiance is good. But we ended up leaving with a mixed feeling about the food. For the price we paid and the hood ambiance a live music , there was a mismatch on the food quality. I would describe the entrees as average as best. I finished my past dish half and my daughter finished a quarter at best. When the waiter followed up on “how is the food”, we informed him of the lack of any taste and the sauce is off. He just said “ok” and was gone. I know they are busy and there is a bit of labor shortage but that cannot boil down to tasteless food. I can do better in my kitchen. We had reservations and still waited 30 mins to get a table and another 25 for the waiter or even come and take order for appetizers. But we overlooked that as we were enjoying the outdoor weather. Finally, do note that his fine dining restaurant is charging “transaction fee” if you pay by credit card. Ona $200 one can imagine how it can run up. That’s just outright wrong!
Unfortunately, I don’t think I can give this restaurant more than 3 stars. Our waiter had an atrocious attitude and ruined my family and I’s entire experience there. He rarely checked on us, was rude the entire time, incredibly unhelpful, and again, had a terrible attitude. We asked a different waitress to give us his name and then when we actually asked him, he gave us an entirely different name. Not sure who was lying in this situation but I would assume that it was him. The owner of the restaurant was very kind and welcoming and so was one of the chefs who checked on us more than our actual waiter. Sad that he ruined this entire restaurants reputation.
I went one evening with family and friends, the atmosphere was nice, they had good decor and actual plants. The tables were arranged poorly, it was like eatting on someone's lap. We all had a variety of entrees and no one was impressed. For the prices the food was average at best. Sadly the best part was the olive oil, bread and appetizers we ordered the brushetta and fried calamari. Our server was polite and very knowledgeable on the specials. Also, it was strange the owner or manager was pacing up and down the resturant looming over people's shoulders speaking to a few of them briefly. I ended the evening with a dry tiramisu which seemed as if they fogot to dip the ladyfingers in coffee and only added extra sugar.
We went to Pavesi for a second time because we enjoyed the first time experience here after. What we experienced the first time was not consistent with our second time visit. Firstly, the portions were much smaller than we remembered it. Salad was small and we didn't feel the dish equated to the price we paid for it. Secondly, the quality was poor this time around. The potatoes tasted like it came from a box. My vongole dish was full of empty clam shells. I dug into the dish and only found 50% of what I expected floating in the watered-down sauce. Thirdly, the service was lacking. The server kept forgetting our requests (no onion, black cracked pepper, no fresh parmesan, didn't refill water, forgot pen with receipt etc) and to top it off, servers kept dropping plates and cutlery making loud clanks by the kitchen door where we sat (butterfingers!). It ruined an otherwise, nice ambiance with live music. Finally, when we decided to complain about the quality of food, the owner comes and sits over at our table. With a condescending tone, he asks if I've ever made clam dishes. "I can give you a dozen clams right now to replace that. If you have ever boiled clams you know that they fall out of the shells". I'm convinced that i was given a lot of empty shells. Only found 50% of the clams that should have been on my plate and I counted them. When we complained about the mashed potatoes, the chef came out and invited us to go into the kitchen to see that they use "real potatoes". Then he proceeded to offer a hand-made cheesecake, apologized and stated that "customers are always right". He tried to smooth things over and change our experience but with the owner's tone we were turned off. We like to support local businesses and we want to remain supportive of this restaurant but we were both pretty turned off my the experience. If it was just a server or a chef, we could have been more tolerant but from the owner to treat a customer this way, was not acceptable.
The food was pretty good, but way over priced for what you actually get. Typical Italian fare on the menu, but I ordered the scallops and risotto on the specials menu. The dish consisted of 4 small to medium sized scallops and risotto. It was good, but certainly not worth the $45 the restaurant charged. My friend thought her dish was a little skimpy too. This restaurant also upcharges for using your credit card. There are many other restaurants I would go to before I would eat here again. And yes I know, inflation, but this was more like price gouging.
We had a reservation at 5:15 for dinner before a show at 7. One of the people in our group never got his meal. A table next to us left because of the service. I would not recommend this restaurant
Strange singer, not the best music for dining. The bruschetta and gnocchi were decent, but the all the different salads were just a pile of arugula with dressing and a few large slabs of mango or mozzarella. My special, scallops on champagne risotto, was god-awful. Absolutely devoid of flavor. Not even salt!!! I NEVER write restaurant reviews, but this food was just so unworthy and way too expensive for the sub-par food. My companions had diner-worthy food, definitely not good-italian-restaurant dishes. Never coming here again!
I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. My husband and I were walking around town when we heard live music from this restaurant. That made us want to get some wine and sit down. We ordered two appetizers and an entree to share since we weren’t too hungry. The owner of this place had the audacity to come up to us and talk down to us for what we chose to order. Saying things like “you brought your own wine too” when in fact this place is BYOB. What did you want us to do? He was appalled that we didn’t order more and when my husband said it was because we weren’t too hungry the owner said “well then you should have kept walking past my restaurant”. We spent $100 at this restaurant for two people but that wasn’t enough? This completely ruined our night! I will say the chef came to speak to us after seeing what happened and he was very kind and understanding. As for the owner…I hope he never speaks to paying customers like that again.
I visited Pavesi Restaurant on November 1, 2025, at 4:15 PM with my wife and niece. Despite seeing several empty tables on the main floor, a staff member said none were available, only offering a basement table. When I asked about reservations, they said none were available until 7:00 PM. I asked if we could sit on the first floor and leave before other customers arrived, but they refused. I believe this is because I am Spanish, and I am very disappointed, as I have visited this restaurant several times in the past.
