Awesome food and awesome service! We came in before closing and didn’t notice, but they gladly took our order and let us eat in the dining area. I definitely recommend this location to anybody, not only for the burger, but the awesome employees. I’ll be back!

It's been a while since I traveled to Mt. Pleasant. I grew up in this unique little town and recently traveled home to see family. Thank God Herchel's is still there. The chicken fried steak, okra, and mashed potatoes and gravy were absolutely awesome. This place has come a long way since tan t-shirts and a 25-cent juke box up front in the 80s. Its always nice to see a little piece of home when you go home. Thanks alot Herchel's!

The meal was perfect and the service was spot on fast and friendly I didn't have to wait but 5-8 minutes I guess for 3 chicken fried steak two cream potatoes , okra and rolls. As good as I've had keep up the good work Hershel's you will be in business awhile.

Herschel's is a great place to take your family. The food is great. It has several different meal options for a variety of food preferences. The restaurant and bathrooms are always clean. The managers on all shifts work hard to make you feel welcome and satisfied.

It was off my path (I-30) a little ways but it was worth it. I research good local places to eat along the way before I start every road trip and this place made the list. And it will stay on the list. I’d be happy to go back anytime. Good food, good service.

My fiancé and I eat here regularly - about once a week, and we love it! We enjoy the atmosphere, the food, and the drinks. My fiancé, being from Mount Pleasant, runs into several people that he knows and I find myself happy to gain a connection. We went to dine in today, in fact, and even though they initially got my order wrong, a Maddie helped me out and made my dining experience great! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that is looking for some great down-home country cooking with some small-town flair!

Always like to eat here when we are in Mt pleasant, food is good, large portions, friendly staff. My only complaint is the blt, the bacon is crumbled, not strips. Tomatoes are diced, not sliced. Between the shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and crumbled bacon it made it hard to eat without everything falling out. The onion rings were awesome as usual

We were wanting a burger and driving through the area we looked up some places and this one looked promising. It was very good!!! We have a family of 7 and with tax We spent around $80. Which is a really good deal especially for how good it was.

Lovely staff as well as lots of options to eat and drink. We had their milkshakes and they were absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was cozy but sophisticated. And the seating is admirable, it's different from many places.

We love coming here for lunch on Sundays! Best chicken fried steak dinners and you have to treat yourself to a slice of their pie or cobbler. Another favorite of ours here is the peach tea. Friendly staff and great customer service every time. Clean restaurant and family friendly.

Here in Mt Pleasant, my wife and I are frequent visitors,… because the food is served hot/warm from their kitchen using fresh ingredients. Yes we miss the complementary ice cream at the end of the meal but two of our favorite’s is their Chicken Mimi or their Grilled Chicken (be sure to ask for Pancho’s red sauce - lots of flavor and not hot) Good people, good service, kid friendly and plenty of parking! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The service is absolutely amazing. Cheerful smiles all around and an eagerness to help that you just don't see much anymore. When I was too childlike to handle their jalapeno cream gravy (amazing flavor but too much heat for me personally), they changed out the entire plate and refused to let me pay for the replacement meal. A staple of the Mt. Pleasant culinary experience and a place that I highly recommend.

Today I had errands to run for work so I was able to pick a place to eat in Mount Pleasant. As I drove into town I tried to think of the different places that I had been told to try and I settled on Herschel's. I was not even sure what they served so it was going to be a true adventure today. After reviewing the menu for several minutes, my taste buds settled in on the Mexi-spud. Generously loaded down with season taco meat, cheese, butter, and freshly sauteed onions. I especially like the fact that nothing was over seasoned each individual bite you could taste the meat and then the cheese and then the onions individually for a simple potato it was very well done. The service of this restaurant is very nice open friendly and inviting. The 5 star is because it has good food at a good price with great friendly staff.

The hamburgers, fries, and drinks are so good! They aren't sloppy and greasy. They offer free ice cream too! The atmosphere is great. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Mt. Pleasant.

We enjoyed our visit to Herschel's very much! I had the Chicken Fried Steak with French fries and a dinner salad, and it was great, the steak was very tender. The dinner salad was very good too, unlike most places anymore, this one came with lots of tomatoes. "A bed of lettuce without tomatoes is not a salad in my book, all you other restraints" We will be back for another great meal soon!

It took less than 5 minutes to get my Royal breakfast! The food was excellent, as well as the service. I am here from out of town for a few days, but will definitely come back to eat 😁

This was a diamond of a restaurant!! It's in an old Dairy Queen building, but they have updated it very nicely! The restaurant was clean, and the staff was very friendly. When I say that the food was hot and fresh is an understatement. The food was wonderful!!! The food was flavorful, and they gave very generous portions. The only 2 things that weren't perfect were.... the green beans needed a little flavor like bacon/ham and salt, and the restrooms were hot like the a/c wasn't working in there. The restaurant a/c worked great. Overall, we were super happy with our food, the sweet staff, and the restaurant. TRY THIS PLACE! It will be your new favorite!

I was recommended by some friends to try this place. You order your food at the counter and they bring it to you. Lady taking my order was helpful with the menu. Cho's chicken fried steak with green beans and mashed potatoes. The chicken fried steak was NOT very thick. It was warm - NOT HOT. Mashed potatoes were thick and the gravy was peppercorn seasoned. The green beans were well seasoned and very hot. Not a whole lot of water which is good. I might try their Cobb salad next time. It looks very fulfilling.

Wow! I love this place! I stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and this was the best place to be. The atmosphere is quite comfortable and the wait staff are very courteous and attentive to the guests. The burger and fries that I got definitely hit the spot and the portions seemed to be very good for the price that I paid.

Good quality small town home cooking. Not fancy but simple and tasty. Staff is pleasant and friendly. Chicken Fried Steak was tender and crispy. Gravy excellent.

First time to try Herschel's and found it to be standard Texas fast order food with a fresh taste. Pretty much same menu as other Mom & Pop resturants. Very friendly staff and appears to be a favorite of the locals. Has been in Mt. Pleasant for 40 years and still counting.

Very clean and updated large diner with counter service and a modest menu open for breakfast through dinner. Menu prices are very reasonable and portion sizes are ample. Plenty of parking with easy access for vehicles with trailers. Drive through also available.

My family loves visiting our hometown staple. We have enjoyed their breakfast a lot more lately. The customer service is always wonderful, and the restaurant is updated and clean. I feel like a few of their menu items have gone down in quality but overall their food is always enjoyable. It’s a must if you are in mount pleasant.

OK, weird thar I give 4 stars but 5 for food, 5 for service and 5 for atmosphere? You be the judge. It looks like a fancy dairy queen. In fact, I think it used to be a dq. That's not necessarily a bad thing as the store has been updated and looked very clean. Food came out after a brief wait and it was good also. What I absolutely cannot believe was the price! I could have went and ate a real steak. I am never to one to say I won't be back, but I won't be back. $36 for 2, no tip. Drinks and cfs lunch. I'm out!

Had the chicken fry, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Everyone was friendly and helpful except the counter where you placed your order. And the green beans had no taste like a can was opened and that's it. No bacon, or onion, or even salt and pepper and the menu says something like country style green beans so not sure what that meant. The dinner roll was amazing and melted in your mouth. Overall it was... ok.

Food was alright. The eggs really had no flavor. The gravy is very runny. For a meal of two, the total was $35.12 for a place that looks like it wants to be a restaurant, but the atmosphere is like a fast food place. The price doesn't match the atmosphere. The place is set up like Dairy Queen.

The food is OK, but very expensive. The music used to be oldies, but it is now hip-hop. They used to come around with the coffee pot for refills, but no more. If they showed an interest in coffee refills and clearing the table, I would leave a $5 tip. Now, I rarely do so, as they do those things very sporadically.

I ordered a baked potato with cheese and butter. I asked for extra cheese. I also ordered a roll and water. The total was $11.99. The full loaded baked potatoes (with a protein) cost 9.99 The potato was small. There was not extra cheese. Even tho it tastes good, there is no way it was a $10 potato. For 10.49 i coukd have had a cheeseburger. For $10.99 i coukd have had the hamburger steak and 2 sides... They are definitely proud of their baked potatoes.

Good portions but kind of bland. We ordered the chicken fried steak and chicken tender. The green beans are out of the can and the loaded baked potato just came with shredded cheese. It was fine. We'll try some where else next time we're in town.

Everything is too salty! Way too salty!!! The rolls are delicious. Not enough gravy on the chicken fried steak. Side salad is fresh. I went back a 2nd time, as I had spoken to mgmt 1st visit about excessive salt. The food was even salter on the 2nd visit. Such a shame! It would otherwise be a great place to eat my favorite that's so hard to find these days.

I was expecting more, because the parking lot is always full. While the place is clean and the service persons are nice, the food is bland. There's a market for this diner style evidently. But, here's my take. Coffee is good. My medium bacon was too crispy. The eggs were not good. How can eggs be so plain they are unappetizing? Well, they nailed whatever the technique is. The blueberry pancakes were decent, but the syrup screams "Great Value". Hash browns? I'm thoroughly unimpressed. I couldn't even finish it.

Halfway through the meal and an elderly couple walked in. They went to the counter to order and the waitress came over to the table directly beside ours and placed a coffee pot and 2 mugs for them. There was only one other table being used in the whole place, yet during this pandemic and mandatory social distancing, she chose to place the couple right beside me no more than arms length away while saying to them, “You look like you are feeling much better.” Wow. I could not eat another bite and will NOT ever return. Upon leaving I noticed the cook wearing a mask....on his chin, not covering nose or mouth. It’s was just so unbelievable.

It’s a hit or miss, sometimes fresh and good. Other times not & nasty.. Customer service is always always poor. if you’re not elderly, they don’t treat you with kindness. Or greet you. Swear seen it too many times. The cost of food here, not worth it.

Food waa good, my father in law ordered a chicken fried steak sandwich and he even said only mayo, it came out with everything on it so he sent it back and then the girl who took the order brought the remake out for us and said he never told her that which he did and she even repeated our order twice as I am the one who paid for it. Another place where these young workers need to get put in check with their attitudes.

Went 01/03/26 around 8-8:30 am The lady at the counter got snappy with us because I took a few minutes to order it was like it was an inconvenience to her that it took me a few minutes utes to decide what I wanted and then she got snappy with me again when I completely forgot about my drink and she snappy asked what I was drinking. Food is good service sucks. I went through the drive thru thinking it would be faster than going in. After I ordered they made me pull around to the back, so I did. 15 min go by and I still did not get my food. Then I saw an employee go to another vehicle who arrived after I did and give them food. I was soon concerned, another 10 min go by and still no food mind you I only have an hour for lunch. Then a lady comes out with the wrong food! I told her what I had and she went back inside. Another 5-7 min go by and i decided to call them. The lady asked what I had and what vehicle I was in and said it would be right out. Again another 10 min go by my lunch is almost up so I go inside and asked for my money back when I explained what happened one of the workers throws my food on the counter while the cashier lady gives me my money back. Not only did they waste my time they didn’t apologize. The least they could have done was give me my food for free.

Some of the rudest place ever. We are from out of town trying to find a good place for lunch. Saw good reviews. Food was good but employees were rude. Offer to take everyone trash and free ice cream. My 2 kids 6 and 5 heard and was happy but got disappointed that it wasn't offered to them. And I had to clean my own trash. When leaving have one employee just say 1 word to us. (BYE!)

Ordered steak finger meal to go with extra white gravy, they gave me brown gravy and completely left out the extra part. I’d probably only give a three star review for this as it coulda just been an honest mistake, but the steak fingers were soggy as hell, and only one of them was a reasonable size. The sides were awful. Dairy Queen makes better steak fingers. This is my second attempt at trying this place cuz everyone says it’s good, the first time they gave me a crispy chicken salad with no meat, never again lol.

I understand all ingredients have gone up. I paid $9.74 for this salad. However, honestly not worth it at all. The mixed greens means all the parts of the iceberg lettuce, no egg, and unfortunately, they used cut up deli meat for a sandwich for the ham. If you’re into salads this was more of a side salad with poor ingredients.

Mount Pleasant location Herschel's, Went at about 9:00pm, they brought my wife's order but not mine to the car, had to go back in to get mine, got to the house opened up my food and it was the nastiest thing I've ever seen, steak finger basket, mashed potatoes were hard as a rock as if they have been sitting on the counter for days, cold shriveled up steak fingers, I threw it straight in the trash. o my goddess, I'm not one to leave bad reviews but this one was very much worth leaving.

At over 75 bucks for 4 people, I'm highly disappointed. Snotty waitress, got my order wrong ontop of it all, and frankly I don't want to wait for them to fix it. I won't return. Also angering when they continually call my son a girl just because he has lo g hair. He's ten, and CLEARLY a boy. I'm a conservative too, not just some whiner crying about gender assumptions.

We thought we would check this place out for Sunday lunch. It was a real disappointment. After dropping over $70 our food came out cold and one of our orders was completely wrong. There's no excuse for serving up cold food such as chicken fried steak, mash potatoes, fried okra, French fries etc. Especially when it's busy!! ALL of our food was cold. Now we know and we won't be back.

The old lady manager with short hair told my coworker last Thursday night that us four who ordered blts with extra bacon ( which all came with a little cup full of bacon bits right in the center of all sandwiches ) that we would be comped for our meal an if we ordered on Monday for lunch again that we would be comped full price unless the order would be more then the first then would have to pay the difference. Ordered tonight an it came out to be $70 dollars which is ten more then the first but had a bad attitude right off the bat saying she told us we would only be compensated for the price of bacon. Was extremely rude an I believe she was just trying to save herself only to turn around an again mess up our second order. Pittsburgh Herschel's is way better y'all!

I asked for no onion and no tomatoes because I’m allergic to onion and instead the girl put no pickles and left the onion. I only realized until after I ate a whole slice of onion bc it was all in the middle of the burger. Then they refused to take the onion off my burger after knowing I was allergic and said “it didn’t say that on the ticket” because the girl rang it up wrong. Very dissatisfied.

Talk about a place that fell off The chicken Fried steaks are so bad they have to flood it with gravy because it's the most stale thing in this place Mashed Potatoes are stiff tasteless garbage too. I had to put my own Salt & Pepper on my food to actually taste something, EMBARRASSING. Portions are completely a joke now, and prices have skyrocketed solely because of the greedy owners. Stay away from this place.
