Aappakadai is praised for its authentic South Indian cuisine, especially the dosas and breakfast buffet. Service is generally good, with Roy mentioned by name. Some customers report inconsistent food quality and smaller portions compared to other locations.

Amazing South Indian platter! They had idli, vada, dosa, uthappa, upma, chole bhature, sheera, and coffee — all of this unlimited for $15 per person, and totally worth it. Top notch South Indian cuisine.
We had buffet breakfast served on weekends... each & every item including sides were too good & tasty. Size of poori in buffet was big than i expected. Ending with strong filter coffee 👌🏼
I recently had a delightful dining experience at the newly opened India restaurant. From the moment we stepped in, we were captivated by the beautiful ambiance that transported us to the vibrant streets of India. The staff was incredibly helpful and attentive, going above and beyond to ensure our evening was exceptional. The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the Chicken 65 and Chicken Chettinad. The flavors were rich and authentic, showcasing the chef's mastery in blending spices. Each bite was a burst of deliciousness that left us craving for more. What truly stood out was the store manager/owner's personal touch. They took the time to visit each and every table, ensuring that guests were enjoying their dining experience. Their genuine concern for customer satisfaction was evident as they asked for feedback and if anything else was needed. It made us feel valued and appreciated as customers. Overall, our visit to the Aappakadai restaurant was an absolute delight. The combination of delectable food, inviting ambiance, and the warm, attentive staff created a memorable evening. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an authentic Indian culinary experience coupled with exceptional customer service.
Very good food and excellent service! Considering how new this place is the staff had the whole routine down. We came for dinner on Saturday evening at 7:30pm. We were a party of 6 and ordered the following: - Mini idli (9 out of 10, 9/10) - Gobi Manchurian (9/10). Our 8 year old loves this dish and they were able to accommodate the spice level, which is not typical of this dish - Ghee Dosa (10/10) Sambar (9/10) Chutneys (9/10) - Onion Uthappam (9/10) - Aappan with vegetable khurma (8/10) - Crispy Fried Prawns (6/10). The taste was good, but 6 prawns for $15, eh! - Chicken tikka masala (6/10). Chicken was cooked to perfection, but this is a North Indian dish at a South Indian restaurant, what were we thinking? - Chefs Special Chicken Curry (10/10). This dish was spicy (as we requested) and it was perfect. Highly recommend it. The Aappum (our first time eating) are a must order. They are big, soft but crispy and were perfect with the curries.
I tried their breakfast buffet and it was so fresh and tasty. They had idly, wada, pongal, poori, dosa, rava kesari. The pongal was hot and fresh. Pooris and dosas are made just when you need them.
Husband and I wanted to challenge ourselves with no meat or animal product and we really enjoyed our meals. Owner was helpful. Food was tasty and satisfying. Space was full of people dining in.
Superb food and superb service by Roy. Thanks for an amazing lunch. We reached at 2:15 and that was near closing time, so grateful to kind staff who took us near closing time and served the food with beautiful smile. Thanks for delicious food. Highly recommend.

Went there with my friend and we were in the mood for dosa. I ordered onion masala dosa and she got a plain masala dosa. Both dishes were yummy! We ordered utthapam also but that was a bit too batter-y. Dosa though was very authentic and for the first time, I tried sambhar that actually was worth finishing. Will definitely be going back for dosa. One note though- please bring out all the food at once.
Good authentic food. Indian food is best. Way better than 2nd second fake mexico.

Newly opened Appakadai restaurant in Mountain House near Tracy California USA. This Appakadai Chettinad restaurant basically based from South Indian Tamil. Atmosphere and Service was excellent. Food was also good but quantity was very very less in comparison with it's restaurant located in Pleasanton California. Varieties of Soups, starters both veg & non veg, south Indian tiffin, north Indian snacks, main course curries Veg & Non Veg, rice items like Biriyanis , chapatis, roti ,Naan, deserts and drinks are available. We ordered Chicken 65, Nethili fry. Gobi manchuria, Appam with Chicken curry. All items were tasty and good. Finished with Indian child drink famous ThumpsUp. Nice experience and will definitely recommend.

Today we have visited this restaurant, we were very excited about this place newly opened in Mountain House, we tried two items: Spring rolls were really good and crispy. Paratha with chicken gravy- Paratha was nice but chicken gravy was ok as it lacked in flavor, could be better. We liked the ambiance, prices were reasonable, restrooms were clean, quick service.

I have tasted the uttapam here but today it was not upto the mark. Hard one, over cooked not fluffy at all!! We also took idiyappam with coconut milk. The milk appeared to be just usual one with sugar, did not get the taste. Why is the food quality dropping in this branch??

I wouldn’t recommend this place!!!!This restaurant is surviving only because there is no other Indian restaurant option in Mountain House. I placed a take out order and they messed it up. I ordered a Paneer Manchurian but they gave me a Gobi Manchurian. I ordered a Schezhuan Vegetable Noodles and Chicken noodles. They prepared the base noodles and sauce for both orders and gave me the veggie noodles with no vegetables and it was bland. I called the hotel to complain about it and they said they need to talk to their boss/owner. I asked him to give me the owners number and I reached out to him. I shared the pics on WhatsApp and he said he will immediately talk to the hotel manager and call me back but he never did. I asked him for an update on WhatsApp but he never responded. (Note: I couldn’t go to the hotel because I was sick and I mentioned this to the owner as well). Similarly we ordered parotta few months back and they gave me a readymade parotta. I called them to clarify but they denied it. We had to throw the food because it wasn’t appetizing. I didn’t visit this place for a while due to this incident but had to order last week since the family was craving for Indian food.
Meat quantity is very less In biriyani. Never buying here again. It took 30 mins to pack a takeout. And quantity was less.
I took second time the food takeout and both times I was disappointed. Specially I got fish pampano last night and it’s kind of smelly and no garnish at all like cabbage or onion or any mint sauce. Worse presentation and took 35 mins when they say it ready in 20 mins.
We ordered egg biryani. It was so dry and definitely not from today’s. It was a refrigerated one and warmed for the order. Horrible. And when we called, the guy was not even denying it and was apologizing. How does that make it right? The business should be shut down immediately. Sad to see something like this in Mountain House.
I order butter chicken and Chapati (Roti) and chai. They charge $38.16 butter chicken was ok but the Chapati was horrible You can’t even bite and they were uncooked. You can see in the picture also, and I called them for this and the guy who pick up the call. He was arguing with me that we can’t do anything when you came. Next time, we can help you and they spoil my dinner, and I don’t think so. The uncooked food is good for health also.

Ordered food for a small gathering and no one liked the quality and taste of food. most of the items were showing out of stock when ordering online. Similar food at Tracy restaurants is less expensive with better quality and taste. my bad i was too lazy to drive to Tracy. need more desi options in mountain house
They only have good dosa's but never try for north indian food as it doesnt have any taste..quality,color like there was nothing at all..butter naan was tooo thick as it could have been better but overall quality was very bad and I am very dissapointed because I was very hungry.
My 3rd time visiting this location and again disappointment! We waited over 30 mins to order the female staff working kept telling us to give her 2 mins and we waited and waited. The tandoor items aren't available which seems ridiculous for a restaurant so my daughter couldn't get what she wanted to eat. The fish curry we got was cold.. not warm it was cold, I asked for it yo be reheated. The masala chai was burnt and tasteless. The entire lunch experience was such a disappointment, this was my 3rd and final try at this location they really have to do better. Lost me and my party of 10 as customers.
Pretty disappointed with the breakfast buffet. 1) all the chutneys are pretty cold and no way they are made fresh for the day. 2) none of chutneys, sambhar and potato curry has any flavor in it. No spice or salt. The tomato chutney feels like a tomato puree with vinegar. 3) fresh dosa is a joke. Seriously. If you ask for a Mysore masala dosa, they give you a plain dosa. And ask you to take the potato curry from the buffet. And it's up to us to imagine that it is a Mysore masala dosa that we are eating. 4) the pooris are refilled very few at a time. When refilled, you can see the race from the customers to get the sparesely filled pooris. I am not coming back to this place again. Oh btw, despite all this, if one is still tipping, at least have the courtesy to say thank you.
