We absolutely loved our experience at Tap Room, so much so that we returned for dinner—it’s a place that pulls you back! The food is truly excellent. For my lunch, the Jamon and Manchego sandwich was a standout: a perfect balance of salty, cured ham and sharp, nutty cheese. The side of tender artichokes was a delicious treat, accompanying a fresh salad for dinner. The ambiance is wonderful, too. It's a lovely space—warmly lit and comfortable, making it easy to relax and enjoy the meal. Paired with great service, Tap Room offers a fantastic dining experience from start to finish.
Went with a party of 7, everyone said their meals were excellent. Lobster risotto was the best I’ve had and the halibut was excellent. Service was friendly and on time. Also the hummus was great and you must try the crab dip ! Wedge salad was delicious, fresh and crispy mini iceberg heads that I’ve never had before.
Dinner for 2 in the Taproom. Meghan was great. Food was spectacular, esp. crab rigatonni. Highly recommend.
The Pork Milanese was the best meal I ate on Nantucket. The spaetzle had the most delicious mix of flavors. The Pork was cooked perfectly. Friends got the Summer Linguini and were pleased as well. We ate inside, which we had planned, but the outdoor seating looked great.
Beautiful spot on a warm summer day for a cold beer and some really tasty clam chowder. Service was very friendly and helpful.
We had a great dinner here! Food was delicious & the vibe was great.
A true five star for us on a recent day trip. We ate outside under the shade of an umbrella and had a great breeze. Our server was patient, kind and efficient as we inquired about meals for our daughter who has celiac. Our daughter settled on a caesar salad without croutons. She added chicken as well. She said it was one of the best salads she has ever had. My son and I had the burgers (delicious), and my husband had a shrimp po'boy which he enjoyed. The prices, service, and setting were perfect for the few hours we spent on the island.
It's unbelievable service - they were so nice to us while we were there and the food was amazing. What's mad is that I left my card there by accident when paying and went home to New York. I called the next day, and without asking they even offered to mail my card to me for no charge if I wanted to - amazing! Definitely get the popovers also :)
Couldn't get in... "Hostess" said we had no reservations. I said I had called - and, I'm embarrassed to say - I showed her my call history. She held firm and was not allowing us in. Excuse me. That is not gracious. Being in n the customer service industry and knowing the standards - she should be fired immediately. I will never, ever, even consider going to the Tap Room. She made us feel so awkward and less than. Fortunately, there are many close alternatives.
I have so many fond memories of Nantucket Tap Room. I first discovered this hidden gem on the island during my first visit to Nantucket in June. I came here alone after having one of the most challenging weeks of my life (job change, relationship issues). Will was my server, and I found him to be one of the most empathetic and emotionally intelligent waiters that I’ve met in the last few years. He recommended to me a few amazing dishes: the very unique tomato tartare (simply divine!), the swordfish, which was cooked to perfection. My whole evening experience, Will was attentive and made sure to sprinkle in his witty banter in both English and Spanish, and he even gave me a complete book reading recommendation list based off of my sociopolitical ideology. For dessert, I was really eyeing something like the chocolate mousse, but Will persuaded me to drop my pretenses and try something completely new to my taste buds: the sticky toffee pudding. I was extremely apprehensive about changing my choice (I can be stubborn ha ha), but when it came out and I had my first taste of it, I truly felt like I was in nirvana. The whole evening was wonderful and I recommended this place to my friends and family that permanently and temporarily reside on the Nantucket Island. And I always recommend that they get served by Will (the best). I returned several times from June till December, and I cannot wait to have another fine culinary experience, hosted by Will, next summer, when he returns to Nantucket Tap Room. The bartender Will is good too.
Actually the best meal during our 4 day visit to Nantucket. Sea Bass and Curry Shrimp was very good. Poppers were also great.
We had a fantastic evening celebrating my father’s 90th birthday at the Nantucket Tap Room. We sat inside and it was cozy and comfortable. The food and service were excellent! I had the clam chowder and curry shrimp and both were delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The manager Kat had the chef make a coconut cake special for the occasion and it exceeded expectations. Our servicer was fantastic; really on the ball. A very nice evening, enjoyed by all in our group of six!
Had a great dinner in the covered patio. Had steak frites and crab rigatoni. Both were excellent. Great service. Highly recommend.
We had some beers and claim chowder . The chowder was delicious. The service is excellent. Definitely one of our ❤️ favorite places on the island for ambiance, food and service . 💕💕
We Loved everything we ate and everyone we met! Popovers, shrimp curry (spicy and awesome), pork Milanese, grilled salmon, fried kale, even non -cauliflower lovers liked the sauce. Waiters were efficient, accommodating and delightful.
We had a great time getting drinks here! The bartenders were awesome!
Amazing dinner! Had reservations and we were seated on time out on the patio. Had plenty of room from the others dining around us. The meal was so delicious, melt in your mouth goodness! And our waitress was very pleasant, she checked on us multiple times and was prompt with everything. We’d definitely dine here again!
Great birthday dinner -- both inside and outside atmosphere are great and intimate. The shrimp curry was so delicious, I had it 2 visits with no regrets, as was the salmon. Popovers are great! Dessert selection was disappointing. We went elsewhere.
Michael was very accommodating. The tuna tostada was really good and the drinks were very refreshing on a hot summer day.
The filet and branzino are Amazing!! This is such a wonderful restaurant. We have had so many wonderful meals here. The food is always so consistently delicious. The patio dining is some of the nicest on the island. Kat the General Manager is the icing on the cake! She is so charming and wonderful- we look forward to seeing her every time we are here. Don’t forget to try the popovers with fresh salted butter! We love this place.
Delicious, hidden gem. Just a couple of blocks from the hub bub, this recommendation from 21 Broad was fantastic. We ate outside, our bartender was our server-was helpful w/ drinks and the menu. The Golden Hour cocktail was great, the chowder was smoky & the best I've ever had. Seafood risotto-YUM.
Exquisite exprience all around. Great patio sitting. Impeccable friendly efficient service. And a chef who obviously knows his stuff. Have eaten here a few times and every dish hit the mark. Freshness crispness flavors ingredients and care in executing. I highly recommend
I had the steak frites and it was absolutely perfect. Make sure you try the popovers, too. Service was great. I didn't think we waited that long, but our waitress apologized for the delay and offered us another appetizer on the house if we wanted.
I have dined at tap room almost a dozen times over the last 2 years and I have never had a bad experience. It seems some reviews here are rather unfair. This is a downtown Nantucket restaurant with incredibly high quality food and an exciting menu. No you can’t bring an emotional support animal into a food establishment and you should always make reservations if you have any expectations of eating on this crowded rock 20 miles out to sea. Tap Room you are my choice for a romantic date, my choice for a family dinner, and my choice for when I want a burger with a side of buttery escargot. By the way, I have even paid for delivery from you….more than once. Thank You.
Everything we had at the Tap Room was incredible. Our server, Mikey, was very accommodating and friendly and welcoming — he made us feel right at home. The bartender (I didn’t catch her name unfortunately) was also a gem — she made me the best extra dirty martini (and even gave me an extra side of olive juice in case it wasn’t dirty enough to my liking) and was able to help me decide on what port option would pair best with my dessert. We got the popovers (to die for!!!), clam chowder (some of the best we’ve had on Nantucket, as long as you’re okay with smoky bacon in your chowder!), the bay scallops and grits (literally the best Nantucket scallop dish I’ve ever had—Mikey even went above and beyond to show me the brand of the chili crisp the chefs use on the dish because I was so obsessed), the risotto (soooo many yummy shrooms, and the perfect consistency that even Tom Colicchio would be proud of), and we ended the night with the sticky toffee pudding (which was perhaps the best bite of dessert I’ve had in yearssss). I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. The vibe, the ambiance, the staff, the drinks, the food — we can’t wait to come back.
Excellent dining experience. Beautiful outdoor dining as well as inside. Enjoyed the cocktails, had as an appetizer the Cheese and Charcutiere- excellent!!! The Clam Chowder soup was very tasty and a nice touch with lobster added. The Hot Lobster Roll was awesome, the best I ever had. Was treated by the Chef to his experimental Beet Ice Cream w/edible Begonias. Wow!!!
The food was amazing! Steaks were soooo juicy and flavorful. The staff us on top of their game ,despite being slammed with ridiculous crowds every night. Outdoor dining next to the Jared Coffin House is inlike anywhere on the island. The new renovation of the indoor dining space came out fantastic. What a great spot for lunch ,dinner , or just drinks. Love it!
The waitress was very nice. Food came quickly and was hot. The swordfish dish was amazing. All in all a very delightful evening. The Salmon dish was also delicious!
came here for lunch and had a great time... sat in the patio which was the only option offered by the hostess (next door to the coffin house)... very nice place with friendly service... food was good but it could use some seasoning improvement... the clam chowder though was amazing.
Nice place to hang out outside - the drinks are very good and the service is friendly. Food is pretty good too. I had the tuna niçoise.
I will start with the best : Food and drinks was amazing !!! When i say amazing i mean it . Drinks was perfectly maded . Their expresso martini was one of the best that i ever try. We order drinks that wasn't on the menu and the waitress/bartender was able to make all of them. Lets talk about the food - perfectly seasoned ! Portions was big ! We try mushrooms toast - amazing, crab salad - amazing , double burger omg huge, onion deep sandwich - tasty and big, wings - great, muscles - so tasty coming with fries and this nice deep sause 😋 ( ask for extra plate and spoon you will need them), steak was really yummy seasoned great coming with nice mushrooms sause ,pork dish was great too, fish 🐟 was delicious come with lemon sause just perfect !!! Price range is normal for the island ! Price matching what you getting as food. 4 starts just because the hostess was extremely rude and inside was cold because the door was opening and closing constantly. Nice lady turn the heat up for us after we complain to maybe 3 different people that including the rude hostess. We definitely will go again just because the food is worth it!! Overall great experience I will recommend it
Really nice, lovely outdoor patio setting. Definitely a nice setting to grab dinner Service was good, but not great. When it was ACK Prime it was definitely a couple of notches better. Salads are good, Caesar salad is a bit different, but the dressing is way to heavy. Greek salad was much lighter and nice flavors. Soft shell crab is just ok as it is deep fried rather than sautéed, several people got the ACK Big Mac which was very good, as was the halibut.
We recently had dinner at Nantucket Tap Room, and overall, it was a mixed experience. The restaurant itself has a cozy, charming atmosphere and the service was polite, though not especially attentive. We came in hoping for a solid meal, and while some things stood out in a good way, others really missed the mark. The wings were probably the best part of the meal. They had a great flavor and were served hot and fresh. That said, they were a little too crispy for my taste and slightly burnt around the edges—not enough to ruin them, but enough to notice. They could’ve been pulled from the fryer just a little sooner. Still, they were definitely enjoyable. For the main course, I had the swordfish. It was okay—not bad, but not particularly memorable either. It was cooked through and plated nicely, but lacked the kind of seasoning or bold flavor you’d expect at a place like this. It felt like it needed just one more element to bring it to life. Unfortunately, dessert was where the meal really fell flat. We tried a couple different options and none of them were great. The texture and flavors were off and felt like an afterthought rather than something crafted with care. For a place that clearly puts effort into its mains and apps, the dessert felt like a letdown. Overall, Nantucket Tap Room has potential and seems to do certain dishes well (especially the wings, with just a little tweaking), but there’s definitely room for improvement, especially in the dessert department. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here again, but I wouldn’t completely write it off either. Maybe with a few updates, it could be a more consistent dining experience.
Pretty okay food, but I agree with the other reviewers about the general staff attitude here. It seems like none of the employees want to be there, and it really shows in the general atmosphere. The remodel is pretty, and it could be a cozy spot, but I wouldn’t recommend dining here.
The cocktails and mains were solid, but nothing memorable. The Brussels sprouts, though? Absolutely fantastic—crispy, flavorful, and the clear highlight. A lovely spot overall, but next time, we might just come for drinks… and a double order of sprouts.
Well, the storied Tap Room may not be returning to it's former glory any time soon. Service, value were all absent. Four, maybe five tables at on the patio and food took FOREVER. When I asked the server why two bowls of chowder and my son's order were well over 20 minutes, I was told "it's a scratch kitchen - we make everything to order". Really? You can see the attached picture of my house burger and chips and tell me about the "scratch kitchen". Our wine was comp'd, however, that seemed more a forced gesture in an attempt to save the grat, nothing authentic there. I am well aware of how precious business is during these COVID times and challenges restaurants are facing. However, at least make the effort to service the customers, communicate if there are issues and be as hospitable as possible.
Ok this is my second review and third time here. I went from a 3 star to 5 star and now I'm am down to 2 stars. For a steak house name they should be able to cook the steak correctly. Medium rare to them is medium well! Just a small amount of pink. We had a large group of 7 and 5 of us ordered steak and all were overdone. Meat not tough but also not overly tender either. My wife ordered fish and she didn't even finish it. So my advise is if you decide to go cross your fingers and clarify what the temperature of the steak means to them so if needed you can send it back.
We dined there last night. They were kind enough to hold our reservation and gave us a nice table. No champagne by the glass, "sold out for the season". Seemed odd. I ordered the filler medium. They over cooked and it came out week done. We had a couple sides that were okay. Surprised by the high ratings. Service by Tyler was ok. Underwhelmed.
All the dishes were very salty & disappointing. Our group of 4 ordered a variety of dishes - chicken , clams & linguini & House burger. We also asked if we could order 3 popovers instead of the menu option of 2 per order. 🥐 The manager came over and said he couldn’t honor our requested. We opted not to order any.
First the hostess is not friendly at all she really need to find a new job she looks very angry is like she is doing a big favor only to give us a table . The food was okay the kale salad was very bad salty and bitter so don’t go for it. The second plate was much better I got Duck. The place is beautiful in our way out we find very nice and friendly people but the hostess not friendly and courtesy at all. We visited last week of October 2021.
The food was incredibly delicious. However, there are PLENTY of restaurants within walking distance of this one with incredible food that will also include premium service for the money you spend. We put our name on a wait list and were told we'd receive a text when a table was available. We waited for 45 minutes with no text. We checked back once during that time and were told we were still awaiting a table. While standing in the rain, we watched a party of 4 walk up, admit to no reservation and no wait list and be seated immediately. AFTER we inquired, we were immediately seated. No text, no apology, no explanation. Once seated, we ordered and requested an additional bowl and spoon - as we ordered 2 entrees between the 3 of us. We wanted to finish the entirety of our lunch and not carry around leftovers for the remainder of the day while shopping and exploring in town. Once food was delivered, I asked for the additional bowl & spoon, again. Once the food was set down, there was no return from waitstaff, and no additional bowl or spoon. Oddly enough, we got significant attention from staff once I pulled a snack from my bag to quell my hunger - I was so hungry at this point, and hadn't been brought anything to eat with. I am well aware you shouldn't eat outside food when patronizing a restaurant - and fully expected to be chastised like a child (no disappointment there)! I would have loved nothing more than to eat the DELICIOUS chowder that was brought - however without the additional bowl and spoon (requested more than once) I was unable. During my verbal chastising, the staff (not our waiter) did not offer sufficient reason for the poor service, did not acknowledge the multiple requests, but offered (so graciously) to bring me a bowl and spoon so that I may eat the food we ordered, instead of the snack from my purse. Her volume was not discreet and was intended to embarass me - great in theory, failed in execution. The experience was awful and unfortunate. I spent 10+ years in the service industry, I love being on the customer end, and I love rewarding excellent service. I understand a mishap or two during an experience. There were so many chances to turn this around, and I'm disappointed that it never happened. I will not recommend this establishment to friends and family - I would never want them treated this way.
Despite the miserable COVID experience impacting Nantucket and resulting mask requirements, the food at the Tap Room was pretty good. However the service was terrible. The hostess was downright angry ... short, harsh and clearly wanted to be anywhere but the Tap Room. Our waitress was slightly better but also clearly not happy. A positive note was that there was a terrific waitress from Romania who took care of several tables surrounding ours. She seemed thoughtful, caring and very attentive. I recommend passing on the Tap Room but if you go, ignore the hostess and request a table attended to by the woman from Romania.
Over-rated, a disappointment and the staff was over-worked and rude. The food took forever to arrive and was mediocre. I can't emphasize what a bad experience this was especially since there are so many other great restaurants on Nantucket.
First time visiting Nantucket with a group of friends from high school, heard great things about this restaurant. On 6/4, we approached the hostess podium for our reservation which we found out was cancelled due to the rain, no big deal, but what was really upsetting was the treatment we received from the hostess staff. We were met with a condescending and rude attitude, publicly laughed at and felt so uncomfortable we decided to leave even though we were given the chance to “wait for bar seating”. It is extremely disappointing the treatment we received from the hostess staff as we were very excited to be in town. I would not recommend this restaurant solely based on the poor attitude of staff and pretentious/condescending nature of the environment.
I wish I was writing a good review right now, however my experience at the Nantucket Tap Room happened to be unfortunate. My wife and I stayed at Jared Coffin House next door, so we thought we would try out the place next door after a couple of days, we visited 9/5/2022 at 5:30pm. Upon walking up we were not greeted, but glared at by a poorly dressed, extremely pretentious host. We initiated a hello which was sharply addressed back with “reservation?” of which we did not have. A lady stepped up at that point which I assume was the manager. We indicated we did not and asked if one was necessary, she said no she had two different tables available. The host hastily grabbed two menus and we followed as he threw them on the table and walked back to his post. We set for a few minutes and decided that we would not give our business to someone who treated paying customers so poorly. We simply handed our menus back and left.
We had a reservation for an inside high top table and we showed up on time. When we got there we were told something about how a large group showed up early and our table wasn’t available any longer, but they had “awesome” seats at the bar for us. Additionally, the hostess told us she tried to call us to tell us about the change (she absolutely did not). I politely declined the bar seats and said if we couldn’t sit inside that was fine, we would eat somewhere else. She said fine and marched us to an open table and sat us inside. So magically there was a table available apparently. We sat down and saw the hostess talking with the manager. The manager then proceeded to come over and ask us again if we would be willing to sit at the bar, I politely declined. We had a nice waitress and the food was average at best. We waited for someone to apologize for the reservation mix up, but they didn’t, they just doubled down and made us feel not welcome. We paid for our meal, tipped well and left. I didn’t care enough to argue on the spot, it was our anniversary and I wasn’t looking for free food. A week after I emailed the restaurant and asked for clarification as to why our table was given away - no response. I think because we weren’t dressed in Prada shirts and expensive clothes we were being relegated to the bar. You better believe if we didn’t show for our reservation we would have been charged for it. So if you want average food at a high price and be treated like second tier people - this is the place for you.
This was my first trip to Nantucket and out of all of the restaurants, we chose the absolute worst with the Nantucket Tap Room. We liked the outdoor patio as we did not want to be stuck inside, and it was difficult to find a nice patio. The menu was very limited for lunch. Our party of four started with the crab and artichoke dip. We had two bites that were so disappointing. Stale tortilla chips, and basically melted oily cheese with no noticeable crab. We sent it back. The entrees were mediocre to bad. The best entree we ordered were the fish and chips, but the salads were awful and overpriced. My friend ordered the Caesar salad which basically a bagged salad mix of small pieces of soggy lettuce and large shaved carrots. Carrots in a Caesar? No parmesan, no croutons. There were some weird crushed breadcrumbs on top. This was not a Caesar at all. My wedge salad with a small piece of salmon was $39. Not worth it. The worst however was when we got the bill, the $24 appetizer that we sent back was still there. We called the waitress over to remove the charge. She looked at us like we were crazy and then said "we don't take something off the bill just because you don't like it". I'm sorry what?? Of course that was not acceptable and we had to wait 15 minutes while the manager got involved and they begrudgingly took it off the bill. Overpriced food, unappetizing food and rude wait staff. Save your time and money!
The outdoor host during the end of lunch on august 30 th was unpleasant and rude to my wife and I. We ordered 2 beers because we didn’t want to be rude. I wouldn’t recommend for your first experience fresh off the plane.
We have been coming to Nantucket every summer for ten years now, and I can easily say that this was the absolute worst dining experience we have ever had. Not the food--that was actually very good. We had an 8:15 pm reservation for eight people, and the night started off on a great note. The restaurant was accommodating and the host was able to seat all eight of us together, right next to heating lamps, despite our not having been able to reserve for that large a party via Resy. We were all very hungry, so the waitress was kind enough to take our orders as soon as we were seated. But then everything went downhill. Four of our entrees came out within minutes, before any of our appetizers came out. We let them know, but instead of taking those entrees away and bringing them back out after the appetizers, they simply left them on the table and then brought out all of the appetizers later. So, four of us were in the position of starting the entrees, and then shortly thereafter, having the appetizers. But it gets much much worse. After those plates were cleared, we waited for AN HOUR for the remaining four entrees. The eight of us--four of whom had finished their meals and could have headed home--sat there and waited, with nothing in front of us except cold popovers (one of which came with a live ROACH!), for an hour so that half of our party could finish our dinner. The kitchen closes at 9:30 and we joked that the final insult would be that the waitress would come over and apologize at 9:45, saying that the four entrees would not be coming because the kitchen had already closed for the night. No management ever came over to apologize or even acknowledge what was going on. We ended up spending $500 for this experience. Luckily we are here for over a month, so this will not mar the summer, but we had invited my in-laws for just a few days. I am beyond disappointed that we not only wasted a meal here, but that it was such a terrible experience for them. With so many truly wonderful, amazing places to eat on Nantucket, this is one that we will never frequent again.
Service was terrible. Waiter never came back to see if we needed anything. No choice on how we wanted a our steak prepared. Only medium was available. No sides with dinner, just meat on a plate. Not even salt and pepper on the table! Waited over 45 minutes for a cocktail. Go somewhere else! Not worth the price for a poorly run restaurant. 👎
