Opinions de Lika's Quarter Cafe Nevada City
Great little place for breakfast or lunch in Nevada City. We were the only ones there when we went (towards closing) and everyone was so nice! The owner got us all set up with a bottle of wine and gave the table the soup of the day to try (potato leak). You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Cute garden outside but they also have tables inside. We had the burger (delicious) and fries (the aioli was amazing). Would definitely come back and try another dish.
My family loves this place! Just enjoyed a Mother’s Day brunch and everything was excellent. All the food is so quality and the vibe is very casual and friendly. When the weather is right, sitting on the lovely patio makes it even more enjoyable. Wish I’d taken pics of the food, but when it arrived all we were thinking of was eating it…we devoured it all. Sharing a picture of the beautiful tree that shades the patio instead.
Excellent selection, actually fairly difficult to decide what to get - you'll definitely need more than one trip (or a group!) to try everything you'll want. I ordered the Lavender Fog tea (which was both delicious and huge) and the oyster eggs Benedict - they were so flavorful and filling, and a little spicy. Highly recommend, will be back. 🤘
Cute little cafe with New Orleans decor and a decent menu. Vegan/vegetarian options available for food plus dairy alternatives for coffee. I ordered a Greens Boat and modified slightly to make it vegan -- it was packed with flavor and so good. Very attentive staff who kept our cups of coffee full! If you're in town, definitely make a stop in. Note: they only accept cash or check.
I had a lovely breakfast here and the staff are truly lovely people! can't wait to visit this tiny town again.
It’s a French place managed by a very kind and friendly French lady. The choice is very good. A lot of tastes and genuine stuff. If I were to complain, it would be their very generous portion. Apparently others eat everything. I couldn’t. Thank you for the great experience.
What a delightful spot to have breakfast. The food was excellently prepared and the staff was very charming.
Omg, this place is fantastic. Awesome friendly setting. Food is delicious. For those who have dogs, they allow dogs on the patio. For us it was a bit disappointment for 2 reasons. First, we simply do NOT like dogs hair floating in the air and our food. Second. our kid is allergic to dogs. This place would definitely be our first choice of breakfast, if not the dogs. I still give it 5 stars rating.
The staff were so welcoming that we had coffee and came back for lunch!
Stayed in the area a few weeks ago for a wedding and this place blew my partner and I away. STUNNING environment--love the cherry tree covering the patio. The food is delicious, large portions, and affordably priced (even for cheaper states than CA). We liked dinner so much we came back for breakfast, and the man serving us was very personable and accommodating. Don't pass up Likas!
For a casual place, the food and service were exceptional. We both ordered the Pesto Grinder, Italian cold cuts. Probably the best sandwich ever, no kidding. Have not had Italian meats this good outside of an Italian New York deli. The staff were all pleasant and attentive. Highly recommend.
Worth the trip out of the fog for a sunny lunch on the deck. Was 44 at home and 72 in Nevada city. Good food was a plus.
We enjoyed a relaxing atmosphere on the outside patio. Good food and great menu choices.
Very quaint French cafe we walked by and stopped inside. I never have many chances to speak French but it was a surprise when I heard the owner speaking French. Food was delicious, atmosphere was great and being able to speak in my native tongue was manifique 🇨🇭
We got the french shepherds pie with salad and tri-tip sandwich with fries. Both were delicious! The shepherds pie was nicely seasoned and the accompanying salad had a refreshing dressing. The meat in the tri-tip was tender and delicious. There was also board games at the back of the restaurant to entertain ourselves with while waiting for the food to arrive. Overall very good!
OMG, I am so happy we happened upon this place! My husband got the salad royale with tri-tip and I got the crabcakes and oh my, they are both delicious. If you are ever in Nevada city, don’t miss Lika’s.
We loved Lika’s! The goat cheese and grilled veggies sandwich was so good. Highly recommend their tri-tip sandwich - their fries are unbelievable! Atmosphere was casual and chill. Staff are super friendly.
It's possibly one of my new favorite places in Nevada City. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted with a big smile. The waitress was very nice, and everyone we interacted with while sitting inside was superb. I had the French Shepherd's Pie and a Tequila Sunrise. My husband had a burger and beer. Both dinner items were delectable. The best part of our time at Lika's was the music outside on the patio, where we indulged in scrumptious flourless chocolate dessert while watching the band play. It was a lovely surprise and a great treat.
Such good breakfast! Mmm, I’m full but want to eat more! Rich and made with care. I love the patio under the large, beautiful tree. The folks running this restaurant are warm and friendly, almost stereotypically French cooks.
I had the (Boeuf Bourguignon) w/mash potatoes, the beef was very tender, the Mac & Cheese w/ tri-tip was a large portion & cheesy. If you miss good service , we'll gotta try this place, George & Mylika & staff are very friendly,
An absolute GEM!!! Scrumptious food. Squash soup was wow. Big fresh salads. Burger was delicious. Charming atmosphere and staff. Will be back! We scarfed our food before I got photos
This is my favorite restaurant in Nevada City. The food is really excellent, the atmosphere, feels like a special occasion, every time, and the staff and owner are the *best part*. We feel very nurtured, and taken care of when we go to this café. Recommending everything five stars. The food is really excellent!
Nice place 1 block off the main street in Nevada city. Great little outside seating area with good service and delicious food. I had the mango huavos rancheros and a mimosa yum!. Breakfast till 12am.
VEGAN BISCUITS AND GRAVY - and lavender lemonade, need I say more? Well, their patio is fantastic as well. It's covered in lights and there is a giant, beautiful tree in the middle. Not to mention they have more vegan options than just the biscuits and gravy. You can sub vegan cheese to make most things vegan. I love this place and would go 100 more times.

Excellent Eats! And a lot! Ginger soup, Shepherd Pie and Salad were all excellent. I usually don't take photos of meals but the dishes deserved recognition

Absolutely fantastic hidden gem, off the beaten path in historic Nevada City! The owner and her staff are absolutely charming. Her food was divine! We each got the California burger and that garlic aoli was AMAZING! Lovely patio seating area. There is a water bowl for your furry friend, too.
This place was very nice on a warm day, the shade was great. It is also dog friendly. The food was good when we finally got it, 30min after we ordered. My husband pretty much was the waiter, got our menus and waters and took the order. I noticed the other workers didn’t seem to know what to do with a bottle of champagne, just pretty much gave it to the people that ordered it. I’m not sure what this restaurants deal is but the food was good 🤷♀️

Very beautiful patio, but wished I could have stayed longer. Felt guilty to take up space! Good was great but bummed they were using disposable cutlery and takeout containers. The cups weren't disposable and other businesses aren't using takeout containers so not sure what was going on there.
We visited Lika’s for brunch before the Mardi Gras parade in Nevada City, and it was an experience of highs and lows. Tucked just off the main street, the café offers a quieter ambiance with lovely outdoor seating—perfect for a sunny day. While the atmosphere is laid-back and charming, be prepared to wait… a lot. Service was incredibly slow—from getting water to receiving our meals—and we weren’t greeted or seated upon arrival, which added some initial confusion. That said, once we were helped, the staff were friendly and polite. The food itself was solid. My wife had the breakfast croissant—flaky and flavorful, though overly oily—and I had the 3-egg omelette, which was tasty but nothing particularly special. The potatoes were a standout though—crispy on the outside, soft inside, and paired with a unique mayo dip. It’s clear the kitchen takes pride in their dishes. This is a place you go to enjoy a leisurely meal, not if you're in a rush. The vibe is relaxing, the setting is charming, and the staff genuinely care, even if they operate on a slower rhythm. Worth a visit—just make sure you have time to spare.
Today was the annual Mardi Gras parade in Nevada City and we decided to have brunch in downtown prior to the event. We were looking at Lukas yesterday but decided to come today because our reservation at the National was erroneous as they were closed today likely due to the Mardi Gras celebration. Lika's is located of the main Street of downtown so it is a bit more quiet. It has indoor and outdoor seating. The beautiful weather made the outdoor much more attractive so this is where we sat. When we arrived we were not greeted or seated and had to ask how it works. They handed us a couple menus and told us to sit anywhere we wanted. Service here was really slow. I mean... Really slow. Over 10 minutes to get water, another 15 to have our order taken, and then a half hour to get the food to the point where I saw others who came after us receive their food before ours arrived. When I saw this I got up to ask where our food was and saw them bringing it out so said nothing. My wife ordered the breakfast croissant which came with potatoes and I got the 3 egg omelette. Also came with potatoes. People, the food is good. Overall comment here is that the breakfast croissant is so oily, my wife had to eat it fork and knife style. The potatoes are like mashed potato balls and come with it's own special mayo dip. The omelette was good but omelettes almost everywhere are very similar and this is no different. Nothing special to make it stand out from other well made omelettes. In the end, the atmosphere is really chill and nice. When we were served and waited on they were very friendly and polite. But this place is sssslooooww. Even when I went to pay the cashier was so relaxed. Our eating neighbor asked us if we liked the food to which we said yes and she said she has lived there for years and is obsessed with the food but you come knowing you will need to be patient. Try it but do it when you have no plans or a lot of time to be chill.

I ordered their Californian burger and it was good. Unlike other burgers it is not like "guilty" to eat, it has avocado in it and an herb that makes the burger quite healthy tasting. I liked it! It is worth the wait but not for 45 minutes for 2 orders of burger. We dined in around 2pm and they don't have full tables. Overall, I still recommend it.

The outdoor seating area is super cute and dog-friendly, which we loved. That said, the experience wasn’t the best. The staff seemed really overwhelmed—probably because they were short-staffed—and no one came to clean our table after the previous guests, even after we asked. We waited over an hour for our burgers, and when they finally came out, they were way too salty. Totally understand they were doing their best, but overall, it just wasn’t a great visit.

There was a dog lying down on a table inside the restaurant right in front of the employees. I guess nobody who works there thought anything of it because it was in plain view of everyone including the manager. This is disgusting. If you care about the cleanliness of the eating establishment you dine at I’d avoid Lika’s Quarter Cafe.
Service during rush period was abominable. A party in front of me was huge with people arriving piecemeal only to add to their order at the last minute. After 20 minutes of this nonsense was then told that *my* order was going to take an extra long time. They need to have a different policy when a large group is being served… the entire party needs to be there before ordering. I walked out in disgust.
Terrible experience. We came as a group of 6, and there was no proper seating — couples were taking the largest tables, and the staff had no system for arranging seats. We ordered burgers and salads, waited about 30 minutes, and then they completely forgot two of our burgers. When we asked, they just said they had forgotten. Unorganized, slow, and disappointing. One star.

We had a very disappointing experience here. We ordered iced teas and sandwiches, paid in advance (including a tip), and found a seat. After about 15 minutes we had to ask for our drinks, and even then it took two tries to get them. At around the 45-minute mark, we inquired about our sandwiches and were told they were “being plated.” Ten minutes later, with still no food in sight, we let the cashier know we needed to leave. Instead of offering to pack up our order, he simply refunded our card. Meanwhile, we could hear staff in the kitchen making snide comments, which felt unprofessional and frankly discriminatory. Overall, the experience was bizarre, disappointing, and left us feeling unwelcome.
Waited over an hour for our order, which NEVER CAME. After repeatedly asking if our meals were being prepared, we were finally told our tickets weren’t even printed for the kitchen and asked for a refund. Poor organization, poor service, don’t even know what the food tastes like. All the tables around us were having the same experience. NEVER AGAIN.
on a slow weekday morning we were left disappointed by the quality of the food and poor service provided by the staff. waited about an hour for our meal for two (steak and eggs), while there were only 2 other tables and 4 staff members. when asked about my meal I was I had them the steak wasn’t rare (it was well to medium well) as was specified and was met with attitude and the phrase “I don’t know what you want me to do about it”. to have paid nearly $75 for this meal (they ask you to pay and tip ahead) was truly saddening.
