Opinions de Sopa Thai Nevada City
Visiting from Colorado, tiktok told me about this restaurant! The food was so yummy! Definitely recommend the spring rolls, they come cut up and are enough for 4 people! We also got the Pad Se-ew (to die for) I want to go back just for that. The Thai fried rice was a bit bland, the Won-Ton soup was also very yummy!! Great atmosphere on their back patio. We had Clay serving us and it was his first day and he was very bubbly, nice, and attentive! If you’re in the grass valley/Nevada city area you have to go here!
Ordered the Massaman curry with tofu, barbecue beef, and the sticky rice with mango and coconut sauce. Everything was really delicious! Would definitely recommend and will be going again. The service was very nice. Overall, it was a great dinner. Thank you!
Best lunch experience ever! Beautiful brick walls and cozy dining! We were well taken care of, with my Spicy Eggplant and my sweetie's Yellow Curry, both with ground pork... completely delicious! Can't wait to visit again!
This place is phenomenal!!! It Has the best patio in the Sierras. Beautiful tables are nestled underneath the gorgeous vegetation with little patio lights and upper balcony and a lower patio next to the waterfall that goes into a pond. Inside is very traditional decor and a gorgeous saltwater fish tank.. Always suggested to make reservations so that you can get your best and favorite spot. Take out is just as good as eating in. I recommend is such a chicken Satay appetizer and a spicy wings appetizer and the wrapped shrimp. Yum! Oh so, so delicious! 😋
You can't go wrong enjoying their patio, but be brave and venture past that lunch menu! TRY THE MUSSELS!!!! Truly divine. Also check out the "salad" section and don't think of it so much as salad. We have the seafood salad and it was beyond delicious. The ground pork dish was right up there to. The mussels, tho! I wanted to put my face in the bowl. Service was friendly without being intrusive. Very accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu. A bit pricey when you jump off the overly familiar menu but worth every penny!
This place rocks! The food is all super flavorful and the staff is attentive and friendly. We had my wife's bday there and they reserved the long back table for our group of 10. Super cool table and the evening was a win! Family style 6 entrees and 4 apps was perfect amount of food. Definitely going back!
Great food, lovely service, and we'll be back!
Excellent food and INCREDIBLE service. They were packed with people (and understaffed) and still managed to get to us quickly. Real incredible team and tasty food.
Friendly staff, only tried one dish so far (Tom Kha soup). While not very thick, it had good flavor, lots of chicken and only $17 (after tax) for about 28 ounces. Will definitely return to try more dishes and enjoy the patio.
We stopped in here for a friend's birthday coming back from an archery adventure. None of us had tried it or knew what to expect. Our host was wonderful and made some great suggestions. The menu is diverse and everything we had was very good. We had an appetizer sampler, some Tom Kah soup (hopefully spelled correctly), pumpkin curry, pineapple curry, drunken noodles, and spicy fried rice. The pumpkin curry and drunken noodles were the favorites, but everything was really good.
Located in a nifty historical building in downtown Nevada city. The staff was fast, polite and very efficient. The food was fantastic and came I nice large portion sizes. We will definitely make this place a regular stop whenever we are in town. It's a hidden, tucked away little gem of a restaurant.
We love Sopa! Made a special trip there today! Enjoyed sitting on the back patio, taking our time and enjoying the moment. Our appetizer and dishes were excellent.
Easily my favorite Thai restaurant in Nevada County. My family has been coming here for years. It is set in a beautiful old brick building and nicely decorated with Authentic Thai decor. The patio is two levels and perfect when the weather is mild. Food is served in generous portions and always consistent.
It had been years since my last trip to Thailand, and dining here instantly transported me back. The food is genuinely authentic, with generous portions that offer great value. If you’re planning to dine in for dinner, arriving early is a must—even on weeknights. We arrived around 5 p.m. for a table of four and managed to grab the last available table.
Not every Thai food experience is magical. But ours was. Awesome food. Amazing town. Lots of effort to make this a fantastic night by the staff. Well done
Great food and service! Recommend pork ribs, salmon, and soup! Will definitely revisit this Thai restaurant! The chef and the servers all deserve a big pay raise lol
One of the best Thai restaurants outside of Thailand in my opinion. Wow! Great atmosphere. Great service, kind and helpful. But the food is out of this world. The mango Curry and the pumpkin curry are phenomenal. The papaya salad is outstanding. I could go on. In the historic Nevada City with a lovely patio. One of the best restaurants in Nevada City.

Regular patrons. Went on a busy night during Victorian Christmas and the staff was excellent despite the large crowds. River and Felix exceptionally welcoming and efficient!
Delicious and such a sweet restaurant to be at. I have food allergies and the staff are always great about answering questions that I have about ingredients. The food is fantastic and portions are great for a meal or two beyond what you eat while dining in. The patio is gorgeous and it's perfect to eat outside during the nice weather! Do yourself a favor and go enjoy Sopa!!
Great good and staff. We felt welcomed as soon as we entered. Don't sleep on that fried ice cream!
This place should have a higher review. The food is good quality, made well, and it’s good they can adjust dishes to make them vegan. 🙂
When getting entree with coconut milk, ask for more heat if you like it spicy.
LOVE this place. The vibes in the garden patio are amazing.. especially at night when all the lights are on.. It's just so damn cute and really makes you feel like you're doing something special... On a weekend getaway with your honey? Go here for a romantic dinner under the trees & twinkling lights. Food was great, service was lovely, and I've been back several times since :)
Had an opportunity to take my family here for dinner last week. Excellent service wonderful delicious food. My favorite is the Praw raw peanut sauce.!
Traditional Thai and other Asian dishes have never failed. The reason I keep coming back is the hospitality. They really treat people right here.
Came all the way from Florida to eat at this restaurant. The chef came out to met my 3 friends. 2 from NV. One from Alabama. We had a little of everything. The food was delicious. Thanks for the picture. Miss Kitty Florida.
This is the best Thai food! Full stop. I’m not usually a fan of Thai, but this place knocks it out of the park. You must try this place
I had a girls night out with some great friends. I knew this restaurant had new owners and wanted to try it. Between all of us we tried 6 different entrees. Every one of them were so good. I'm new to Thai food and have to say, I will definitely become a regular. The food was fantastic. I can't wait for summer with warmer weather to sit outside in their beautiful outside courtyard eating area. Definitely a five star restaurant.

We had a great time. Not maybe the same variety/ style of Thai cuisine you could find in an environment with the larger Thai population but still very yummy. We chose the dinner menu so the portions were generous ... we had lots of Togo boxes. What we had was good. The service was great, Indoor and outdoor seating. The patio is magical. Good job.
Food and service was great. The outdoor patio was fantastic. Great ambiance.
This is my first time visiting Sopa Thai Cuisine. The food was pretty good. One of the chicken appetizers had little to no chicken. The fried rice was better than most. Service was pretty good. There's nothing to brag about but nothing to complain about, either. The atmosphere was drab, pretty dark, and old.
Lovely atmosphere. Very polite and helpful staff. Loved the crab & chicken wontons. All but the "clay pot" seafood noodle dish was good. Sadly the muscles & oysters were very bland & the shrimp was fishy... The broccoli with the duck meal was good. Both the shrimp fried rice & chicken fried rice were delicious. Next time we will get the Tom Kah soup in place of the clay pot Pad Thai it was much better. Enjoyed the fried ice cream but wish it was fried a little bit more as I like a more melted ice cream.
Came to the Area for my Birthday & could not have picked a better place to have lunch! We sat out in their patio area right next to the Waterfall. We started with the Wonton crisp & Tom kah soup. I could have bath in that soup! Its That delicious! and being a creature of habit; I order the spicy Thai Fried Rice. The waitress brought me a birthday dessert, the mango 🥭 ice cream. Such a wonderful experience! I'll be back to try new.

So pleasant on an early summer evening. The outdoor garden/patio is peaceful and beautiful, far from the bustling crowd. But wow, was I Impressed with the friendly efficient service that we received. Did I mention the food? The 5 of us ordered 7 dishes and we loved them all. Even the picky food-shy 8 year old!
I lived in Thailand a few years so I have a high standard for Thai food. I like my ginger sharp and my sauce authentic and the ginger chicken was disappointing for me. The sauce was more like Sichuan Chicken and the ginger shavings were understated. We also ordered Mango sticky rice to share. the mango and the rice were delicious with generous serving size, but there was only the smallest trace of the sweet coconut milk sauce. We brought it home and mixed up our own coconut milk sauce and it was delicious. My daughter enjoyed the Peanut Chicken though. She said it was delicious with the just the right amount of peanut flavor. Despite my disappointment with the food the staff were very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere of the town and restaurant were enchanting. Good date spot.

I'm sorry I couldn't give this place a perfect 5 bc there's an amazing lo-fi vibe inside and out and it's spotless. The staff is super friendly it seems. The food was tasty and fullfilling and the prices are decent. However, there seems to be a miscommunication issue somehwere. My partner specified that her meal be vegan w/o egg. And when she received her meal there was egg in it. She choose to pick out the pieces and continue w/ the dinner as to avoid making any waves. Always have to be careful in the dining industry when sending back food. Anyway, i recommend this ppace highly if you dont subscribe to a limited diet otherwise, you may need to add emphasis on your order.
Do not order to go. Last time we ordered to go, they took twice as long as they said they would (20-30 min pickup, show up, extra 30 minute wait). They wrote the wrong name down during the order, so we initially got the wrong order, and when it was the right order they neglected an item. Tonight, same time issue (if it's going to be 45-an hour just say so, parking is HELL in Nevada City). They got the order right, but just a service complaint, if someone asks for no ice in the drink, maybe fill the cup the whole way or disclaim that you'll charge extra for no ice. Getting a cup MOSTLY full but not FULL is not cool with the prices y'all charge. They then forgot to give me my change for a nearly $60 order for two food items and a drink. Aside from to go service, service in house is fine. Slow at times but staff is friendly enough. Atmosphere is great for Nevada City. Hippie chill vibes, fish tank included, but can feel cramped when busy. Parking is an absolute nightmare.
The servers were pretty nice, but that was about it. It felt like the place isn't managed well because no one seems to quality control the food. The food was incredibly mediocre. I don't care about food presentation, really, but this time, it felt as if they had just dumped in the food into the bowl or platter. It seems like based on the ingredients and how it was assembled, it's as if it's been months or years since they last checked the recipe on what the actual ingredients were supposed to be and how they're supposed to be sliced and how it's supposed to taste. And for the first time ever, we were served a bowl of rice with a FORK. I mean I guess I can use the fork but that's really pushing it. And we were served noodles (not soup) with a spoon. Like how are supposed to pick up these noodles? This kind of service felt EXTREMELY lazy. It feels like such a shame to be wasting a good opportunity of a restaurant. The food was edible I guess, but more than that, we felt offended by their lack of respect for the food and the people they are serving. Perhaps a lack of respect for themselves too. :( Guys, just please read the recipe again.
Second time ordering take out this week. First time was delicious. Second time was awful. Appetizer, 3 entrees & a cucumber salad - was FINALLY ready nearly an hour after it was promised. When we got home, 2 of the entrees were ice cold. No dipping sauces with our appetizer, Kaitlin’s chicken was so cold, dry & overcooked it was inedible. Besides being cold, the curry was watery and undercooked. Crab is fake, but not indicated as such on menu. We received an order of fresh rolls we didn’t even order & the cucumber salad consisted of about 3 slices of chopped cucumber with some onion swimming in plain vinegar. Might as well have tossed that $80 out the window.
Jasmine Rice that came with the curry was very over cooked. Yellow curry was okay but there were way too many carrots. Mango with sticky rice dessert was bland and the sticky rice was undercooked. Also the mango was not properly peeled so there was a hard inedible layer that had to be eaten around. Portions were large, but for the price they better be. I spent $35 on dinner and dessert just for me.
Oh how I wanted to like the food here! Honestly, the ambiance and staff are great. But I have to be honest - it’s objectively the worst Thai food I’ve had in my life. My boyfriend and I ate there last night, and we both agreed. I think people go there for the ambiance of it all. Even tonight, my bf and I randomly started talking about how everything about the food was just so bad. The flavors, cooking style, everything. We actually threw out the leftovers unfortunately, and we generally don’t waste food
I stopped for lunch. It was loud and echoed in there. Waitress was friendly but she was the only one working and running around really busy. I ordered drunked noodle with tofu lunch special. I ended up with shrimp and no soup appetizer. The strangest drunken noodle dish ever. I wouldn't call it Thai. I couldn't eat it. Waitress wanted to fix another dish for me, but I felt dissatisfied and one lunch at $23 is a giant rip off.
The food was so plain looking I didn’t even take a photo. I’m not hungry anymore, but I enjoy the meal I did not 🙁 we got the “Thai salmon.” There was nothing Thai about it. Perhaps try the curry instead. I think that would have been a better option.
Don't pay in cash and avoid the bland, overcooked chicken dishes. Three twenty dollar bills bizarrely disappeared from our payment tray, but the $12 tip remained and the waiter/manager Ben attacked us verbally when we chatted among ourselves over having to pay twice ($120 dollars) for an appetizer, soup and entree that we shared between 3 people. Our visit to Sopa Thai was the most unpleasant experience any of us ever had in a restaurant. We attempted to contact the owner 3 ways before posting this review to inform her of our experience with this aggressive employee. However, our effort was ignored.
This restaurant used to be the favorite restaurant in the world. I will never be coming back after my latest experience. I found MULTIPLE cockroaches in my pad Thai. They were embarrassed, but shockingly didn’t even comp my meal. I simply cannot They didn’t even comp my meal. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!
