The service is excellent and the atmosphere elegant. You have to try the bread. Let’s not forget the incredible ribeyes cooked to perfection. We were a party of 7. We walked in 45 min before a very large party that had reserved the entire restaurant. They were prepped for the party and had no room for us. But some how they managed to fit us in. They rushed the food for us and the service was still quite attentive and excellent. That is a sign of a business that puts customers first.
We were warmly greeted by Maggie at the front. We ordered both beef and tuna tartar and they were both perfectly seasoned. I actually preferred the beef tartar for its rich and meaty flavor, but my wife actually liked the tuna tartar because it was robust in flavor. Our server Peter was very knowledgeable on the menu and even gave us a personalized drink that paired well with our food. We had a light creamy unique cheesecake like dessert to finish our evening (that's the only picture we have the food the rest got devoured too quick)
What a bijou in the French quarter! It started with oven warm breads (some focaccia / and some roll with a yeast dough). That was stunning to begin with. The beetroot with goat cheese was of superb seasoning, the salmon tartar was a bit overspiced with sesame imo but still a great dish. The starters were nicely presented. The meats were cooked to perfection, only downer were the side dishes - wich were no mach for the other food performance. Waiters were very attentive and good trained. We had a great eavening and the 5 starts are very well deserved. Congrats!
Don't miss this restaurant in NOLA. One of the most spectacular steaks (we had the tenderloin w Bone marrow) and the service is next level. From the moment we met the front staff, to the assistant manager (Anthony) to the wait staff (Joe). Truly incredible experience. We need a Doris Metro in Chicago!
We absolutely love coming to Doris! My boyfriend refuses to go else where for his bday every year and we usually still dine 3-5 times a year with that. Anthony took great exceptional care of us last night as VIP guests for his birthday. Tomahawk- perfect as usual! The carrots - so good! And as always a chocolate nemesis to end the perfect meal.
The door/entrance was easy to miss, but we made it. Pleasant experience from making the reservation to departure! Wine selection was abundant, the cocktail was delicious, and the beef tartare & shawarma dishes are to savor again and again. My first time having A5 wagyu and Doris Metropolitan did not disappoint.
Very rare that I find myself leaving a 5/5 rating— but my experience was nothing shorter than top tier. Starting (Service) with Joe, my waiter that set the tone. Personable, in-tune, accurate recommendations— should’ve tipped him more than I did, but I’m not a cajillionaire. (Food)— from the house-made butters, to espresso martini (freshly brewed espresso btw)— the entree really has left me perplexed. The A5 must’ve been from the Hiroshima error, as it was the BOMB. Root Puree (their take on mashed potatoes) best concoction I’ve had in a bit. Celery root/Sweet Potatoes/B.NutSquash— so good. As a nightcap, Joe even brought out a cognac so smooth, I started to think about when life was simple. Top tier. Overall— from my first experience here, Doris Metro has made it into my top 5 restaurants.
Celebrating special occasions requires a unique venue that not only offers exceptional food but also impeccable service and a memorable atmosphere. Doris Metropolitan in the French Quarter splendidly ticks all these boxes, especially for those marking milestone events like an engagement. This was precisely our experience during a recent visit that left us completely enthralled. From the moment we entered, Anthony, the manager, ensured our celebration was in safe hands. He appointed Mignon as our host/waitress for the evening, a decision that significantly enhanced our dining experience. Mignon was not only knowledgeable but genuinely passionate about guiding us through the menu. Her recommendations on steak selections and entrees were spot-on, reflecting a deep understanding of Doris Metropolitan's offerings and a keen sense of what would delight us personally. The food itself was a grand affair. We indulged in the 'Classified cut' and the tenderloin, accompanied by sides of root puree and grilled asparagus. Each bite was a revelation of flavors, so masterfully cooked that the memory lingers as a benchmark for future steak meals. Mignon surprised us with a carefully selected champagne and a dessert array that showcased the best of what Doris had to offer, turning our meal into a true culinary celebration. Mignon and Anthony's personal touches made our engagement celebration extraordinarily special. It's rare to find a restaurant where the staff goes above and beyond to make your experience unique, but Doris Metropolitan does just that. It's no wonder I've been raving about it ever since. For anyone planning a visit, asking for Anthony and Mignon to guide your evening is a must. With such expert care, your dining experience at Doris Metropolitan is sure to be nothing short of spectacular. My fiancé and I are eagerly looking forward to our next visit, confident that it will be as delightful as the first. **Rating: 5/5** - Doris Metropolitan is a stellar choice for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion with phenomenal food and exceptional service in the heart of the French Quarter.
This place is amazing. The atmosphere, the staff, and the food 🤌, omg so good. The atmosphere is fantastic, low light, wine bottles on display along the walls, beautiful courtyard, and comfortable seats. The staff was extremely on point. The server who brought the bread, dinner, and dessert was amazing at explaining the food and how to enjoy it best. My water was consistantly filled and never had me looking for a server. The food. Omg the food. The bread was baked in house. Fresh. Nice selection of spreads of butter, but the oil/vinegar combo is the best I have ever had. Mouth watering. Dinner was just as good. I got the Picanha. Which has to be cooked just right to be good. It was stellar. The presentation was amazing as well. I enjoyed the small bit of Himalayan salt and crushed black pepper on the edge of the plate to season to your own tastes. Dessert was the Chocolate Nemesis I believe. Amazing as well. Presentation here matches the quality of the dining. Very impressed. This is my new favorite spot when I visit.
EXCUSEEEEE MEEEE?!?!? Goodness gracious this place was such a wonderful experience from the moment I walked through the door until the moment I left. Israeli owned and operated I have heard good things about Doris Metropolitan! Upon entering it was clean and modern and everyone was so friendly and even being seated was a wonderful experience. The gals up front we're just so sweet. Our server, Caesar was world class! I enjoyed him so much He has a lot of personality and knowledge and seems to enjoy working there. My next favorite part was the sommelier Nessa (like Lisa) I'll be going back just to sit at her bar and chat with her more. She was an absolute peach! Moving on to the food which was absolutely freaking exquisite... Gosh I think we had a bone-in ribeye and a bone-in... Well I'm not actually sure because I didn't order but one of the cuts was a special off the menu cut and we got the last one! Either way one of those was the best steaks I've ever had in my life and turns out they're sous vide and then finished on the grill and it was just lovely. The wine was spectacular and even the bathroom was A+! I love the fact that they use linens and there was no paper towels or hand drying machine. It was truly an experience I will never forget and will be happy to go back.
Where do I start. One of the best kept secrets in New Orleans. Conveniently located a stones throw away from Jackson's Square. If you are a Steak lover then you need to look no farther for the perfect meal while you are on vacation or just a special night on the town. When you first wall in your will definitely be impressed with the steak aging chamber. They have a Steak for everyone from the low 30s to over 150 be your flavor. A great experience and a even better meal. I will definitely be returning when I visit The Big Easy Again.
Be prepared to be treated like royalty here! You are in for an all around treat! Don’t let the prices deter you, don’t settle for any other steakhouse in New Orleans! The food was gourmet and had my taste buds dancing, the service was perfect, and the atmosphere was very lovely. I ordered the prawns and polenta and I will be going back on my next trip to Nola for more! My husband ordered the Ribeye with mushroom ragu and he’s a harsh food critic. I didn’t hear a word from him for about 15 mins while he devoured that food! The smile on his face was all I needed! I will send everyone I know here!

This is perhaps the best steak I’ve had, and I’ve been to MANY steakhouses in my life that are all on “top 5” lists in their respective states. In conclusion, a visit to Doris Metropolitan Steakhouse is an experience not to be missed for anyone seeking an exceptional culinary journey. From the tantalizing Chateaubriand Tartare to the decadent Bone-in Tenderloin, every dish is a masterpiece in its own right, promising a dining experience that will linger in your memory long after the last bite is savored. Doris Metropolitan absolutely…Didn’t Suck!
This ended up being one of the absolute best dining experiences my fiancé and I have ever had. Truly elevated dining, from the cozy and sexy atmosphere, artfully crafted cocktails, sumptuously prepared plates, exemplary service. It all works poetically together. Thank you to Doris for a memorable date night experience, we can’t wait to come back. Chateaubriand tartare is pure decadence, and always trust your chef and their in-house butcher by choosing either the Butchers cut or Classified cut. You will not be disappointed. Red wine salt was a highlight, as was the bright Bonaparte dessert the manager sent. Our waiter was so knowledgeable about every dish and gave us so much insight as to how each plate was created. Just divine from start to finish. Thank you again!
Holy meat sweats. I love experiences and this was one of my favorite eating experiences in a long time. With a group of 19, it can be easy to miss the mark, but that was not the case this time. Every minute was enjoyable, delicious and memorable. Thank you so much for going above and beyond with our meals.
My husband and I made a reservation here for dinner and it was an amazing dining experience. The steak was delicious. We had the bone in rib-eye to share and the caviar as an appetizer. We ordered a nice bottle of wine to go with the meat. The wine menu was impressive. Everything was perfect. The steak tasted better and better with each and every bite. The staff was very nice. The bartending was great. We sat at the bar and had a perfect view of all the action taking place in the kitchen. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good steak dinner while in New Orleans!
Doris is a welcoming place. We did not have a reservation and they were able to accommodate us. We had a table outside under a big fan and the staff felt so bad that we received free dessert. We had more than one server, they were very attentive. The service was amazing. The food was delicious. I highly recommend this place but make sure you have a reservation.
Loved that I was able to make reservations at the bar for my wife and I. Great service from the staff. Loved the bourbon cocktails that our server was making us. The food was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommending the grilled Octopus, Ribeye, tenderloin served with the bone marrow, and the polenta. Will come back here in heartbeat.
We sat at the bar, which I highly recommend...It was basically a chef's table, as we were right in the middle of the action. The experience starts with a visit from the excellent and down-to-earth Somalia who will gladly recommend a bottle at whatever price point you are comfortable with, and is followed by an EXCEPTIONAL cut of beef. Realizing that quality steak is extremely subjective, I still consider myself an expert on the matter. Exceptional cut of meat not overly seasoned, with a seasoning blend served on the plate so you can salt to taste. If I am EVER back in NOLA, my wife and I will revisit the Doris Metropolitan. Oh yeah, quality sides as well...all of them!
Excellent food in a nice, sophisticated setting. In a historic area of the French Quarter of New Orleans. Aged steaks, cooked perfectly. Spent some time there just enjoying a quiet dinner. The bar area at the entrance seemed lively. Made reservations well in advance and had no wait for seating.
We had a wonderful time at Doris Metropolitan. The food was delicious and our waiter Hung was pleasant and attentive. Probably one of the best lamb chop dishes I’ve had, the meat was tender and well seasoned, not to mention the Taziki sauce complimented the favors delightfully. We also had the octopus and bone in ribeye, both were very tasty and enjoyable. If you’re an old fashioned person like me, be sure to try one of their 15 types of old fashioned’s (the New Orleans was great). Definitely a memorable experience, we will be back next time we’re passing through. Thanks again to our waiter Hung for the menu recommendations , conversation, and suggestions to checkout during our stay in New Orleans.
First time visiting New Orleans and wanted a steak. I know you usually don’t think of steak when visiting NOLA, but I really wanted a nice steakhouse while I was there. Reserved through google. All they had was an outside table, and to be honest, I really hate dining outside. It was the only option available, so I went ahead and booked it. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at our table it’s outside, but the entire outside is on a covered terrace. Our waiter was great, I wish I remembered his name because he really did make the experience more enjoyable. I went with the New York strip, carrots, and fries. Our table shared the octopus, (was not a fan but I don’t like seafood!) and the shawarma. The way I say the shawarma melted in my mouth, I am not exaggerating. The steak was perfectly cooked. Just bloody enough for my liking. The fries were crunchy and well seasoned, and the carrots, oh my gosh those carrots. I am not sure what kind of sauce they have them in, but it made my mouth water multiple times. 10/10 steakhouse and experience. We took a haunted history tour and this building was included which made the experience all the more memorable. If you want a upscale steakhouse experience right in the French quarter, stop by here! And don’t be afraid of the outside searing. It’s not really outside! We had four people and a our bill was just around 400 with multiple appetizers. The cost wasn’t as bad as we thought for the experience you get!
Truly one of the most unforgettable dining experiences that I've ever encountered. Aaron and Diana at the barge really made me feel at home and insured that I had an exceptional experience. The sous vide and seared method for their steaks insures that each comes out perfectly cooked every time. The reputation here is certainly warranted and this should be considered one of if not the best restaurants in all of New Orleans.
We had the eggplant appetizer with tahini sauce all around it, It was the best eggplant I’ve ever had. It was delicious, the eggplant was perfectly cooked mouthwatering. We also had the Porterhouse for two you couldn’t possibly ask for a better steak. It was mouthwatering perfectly cooked seasoned just right, you will not be disappointed. The staff, I couldn’t say enough about them. The staff they were wonderful attentive, and willing and able to do whatever you needed.
Dinner at Doris Metropolitan – 11/10 Experience! We had dinner at Doris in New Orleans today and honestly, it was an 11 out of 10! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted. The Maître D' acknowledged our celebrations right away and seated us at a beautiful table. The service? Impeccable. Our server was personable, attentive, and made us feel genuinely celebrated (Mya/Maya). The food? Absolutely exceptional. We had the beet salad with polenta, the lamb chops, and the whole fish — every bite was perfection. Even the herb potatoes were a standout! To top it off, they surprised us with complimentary prosecco and sorbet to celebrate our special occasions. It was thoughtful, elegant, and just added to the magic of the night. Highly recommend Doris to anyone looking for an upscale, memorable dining experience in New Orleans. I’d go back in a heartbeat!
I enjoyed my last meal while in New Orleans at this restaurant. I decided I wanted a really good steak dinner to finish off my trip and saw this location was nearby. I walked past a few windows and saw the meat refrigerated inside and was sold on the look. I went inside worried that I wasn't dressed properly and the hostess were very sweet and kind. I was seated at the bar and the bartender immediately came over with a glass of water while I perused the menu. I decided on a 16oz New York Strip Steak, Truffle Fries, and a Strawberry Lemon Drop. I also requested Bread Service. Overall the food was excellent my Steak was cooked Medium Rare which is my preference. What I really enjoyed was that it wasn't seasoned. They actually put a Sea Salt concoction along with a herb seasoning off to the the side for you to dip your steak in. The truffle fries were delicious and my strawberry lemon drop was just the right amount of sweetness to alcohol that I like. While I was enjoying my food the bartenders constantly checked in on me to make sure that everything was to my satisfaction. It was above and beyond. I wasn't able to finish the meal and took it to go with an extra Onion Bread Roll. Excellent experience. Highly recommended
In our opinion the best restaurant in NOLA. Nothing else is close. Dry aged ribeye and falls off the bone short ribs were outstanding. Best dinner we've had in a long time. The in house baked bread was some of the most flavorful we've ever had. The beet appetizer is something memorable and we would go to Doris just for that and bread. Can't wait to return. Service out 5 star, outstanding.
A very good meal, excellent experience with exceptional service. I'm not a fan of a steak dinner out in a restaurant (I can buy and cook a better steak at home), but Doris is the exception. Cooked perfectly with great flavor. I love the wine selection, atmosphere, and enjoyment of the entire evening. They truly understand a complete customer experience!
This is literally the best steak I’ve ever had! It could quite possibly be the best steak in New Orleans but I haven’t tried all the steakhouse here so I don’t know. I 10/10 recommend the ribeye, mushroom ragú & the fries. I’m not sure what kind of drinks I had because Aaron at the bar curated drinks for the liquor and flavor profile we requested. I hate I don’t know what was in it because they were SO good. Noel, Micah & Aaron provided us top tier customer service, but Aaron really went above & beyond. The manager is also such a nice young man. I’ll def be back again and again!
If you're looking for a delicious steak in town, this steakhouse is a must-try. The steak was undoubtedly one of the best steaks I've ever had. Cooked to perfection, it was incredibly juicy and tender, bursting with flavors that left me wanting more. Beyond the food, the service and atmosphere at this steakhouse were exceptional. The staff was welcoming and accommodating, ensuring that every need was taken care of. The ambiance was sophisticated, yet comfortable, and perfect for a romantic dinner or an upscale night out with friends. I highly recommend this steakhouse to anyone who appreciates a great steak and a fantastic dining experience. With its delicious food, attentive service, and welcoming atmosphere, this restaurant is sure to impress.
Hands down the best restaurant we tried during our New Orleans trip! We started with the Shawarma(must-try) paired with their complimentary bread, which was just amazing. For the main course, we had the “Falls Off the Bone” and the Butcher’s Cut. Both were filled with flavor and generously portionedbut I personally loved the Butcher’s Cut more. To top it all off, we shared the Baklava Cheesecake for dessert. Now that’s the way to end the meal! Every server we interacted with was incredibly friendly and knew their menu. The place was spotless,. They earned a repeat customer. I’ll be back every time I’m in New Orleans.
Lots to unpack! The service was absolutely the best I have ever received. The manager (I can’t remember his name) greeted us and made sure to check on us the entire evening. Our server Cesar was exceptional! He was very attentive and explained everything we had questions about. On to the food, we ordered the caviar ($250) and a few other appetizers(octopus, prawns, and bread) and each item was absolutely delicious. The prawns were seasoned to perfection and the caviar was like butter! (Well, it should be for the price 😂) I ordered the ‘Falls of the rack’.. I think that was the name of the spare ribs! And boy did they fall off the bones!! I also had a taste of the lamb chops, the fish (I honestly can’t remember which fish). I absolutely will be dining here again when I am in New Orleans again. I’d give it 10 stars but five is the max. Oh, the ambiance is great for a special occasion.
Hung was absolutely awesome. We also met some of the other staff members, such as Stephen, who I said looks like Bradley Cooper. I was absolutely amazed by the wonderful quality of the steak and the rest of the food I ate. We also had the Bonaparte for desert. Highly recommend. The ambiance is fantastic. This is a high-class restaurant without you having to dress like it. That's very hard to find. I'm on vacation and I didn't get a chance to bring business casual clothes. We will definitely be coming back here the next time I'm in town. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Yes, I said it 3 times on purpose. Lol
I know you don't think of steaks when you're visiting New Orleans, but I am a huge steak person and this experience was probably the best I've ever had. The meat just melts in your mouth! We were a large group so we had a set menu but it allowed us to try several different things. Everything was amazing! I can't recommend this place enough.
Awesome experience. Front of the house is definitely on point. Off menu small Caesar Salad was tasteful and presented with flare. Steak was the best top 5 I’ve had throughout the world. Music was upbeat but not overwhelming with just the right touch of class vs modern. Highly recommend giving this tastefully modern steakhouse.
One of the best spots in NOLA. Everything was mindfully crafted, using quality ingredients. The apps were fire, the steak was perfect, the deserts were thought-provoking. Definitely get a reservation and if You cant find a dinner spot, look for an earlier time and know that their bar is an excellent spot to eat at. Well done Doris; well done 👏
This was a dining experience. Not only was the food good but our server Adam really upped the whole date night out for us. He was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and history of the restaurant and culture. The autumn pear cocktail was one of the best drinks I’ve had in a while, and the tomato salad app extremely fresh and flavorful. Also the ambiance and music made this meal just that much better.
This was our first time there. The food was amazing. We enjoying everything and it was perfect portions for each individual. The flavors were on point and everything we had was top notch and highest quality. Will defiantly come back and try new items from the menu.
Doris is a full experience. The menu was approachable and the service was beyond. Mai and Eduardo took great care of our group and we left satiated and giggling. The chef even took a moment to come say hello. It'll be my first stop next time I'm in time. Get the flaming meat board.
I knew I was in the right place when I walked in and saw a glass-enclosed meat, aging room. Being my first time here, I wasn't willing to go fully high-end, so I went with the bone-in ribeye for $105. You can go up to an A5 Japanese Wagyu strip loin for $240. My wife got the short rib and wow...just wow - fall off the bone. I also got their beef carpaccio for a starter. All was next level, and the carpaccio has a unique surprise that'll blow your taste buds away. You will not experience better steak in NOLA. I will be returning for the higher grades! Service is perfect and the atmosphere is happy and elegant.
We’ve been here many times since they opened 12-14 years ago? and love it. Great food and the waiting staff is very knowledgeable. However the hostess (with a flower in her hair) is not nice, very assertive and patronizing, never smiles and very unapproachable . the other one in training seemed much nicer. In a restaurant the employees are as important as the food.
This is the best steak I've had since I was in Japan and enjoyed an A5 Kobe Wagyu beef ribeye. Nothing can ever beat that, but to me the ribeye at Doris Metropolitan is the closest stateside, so far. The breads...my, my, my! The butters - try Wagyu butter with your steak. The restaurant is pricey, but if you want to splurge and be seriously satisfied, in my estimation, it's worth the price. Dee-LISH-shus!
Incredible service and unforgettable food! Howard made our experience awesome! He was attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. Every detail of the service was perfect. And the short rib? Absolutely delicious, tender, flavorful. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for amazing food paired with top-notch service!
We had dinner and the food was delicious. They had a good variety of meat choices from prime, dry aged, and Japanese A5 Waegu. We were initially seated in the dining area based on our reservation but quickly asked to be changed due to the unbelievably loud conversation from the large group of diners across the room. No fault to the restaurant though. The sides were delicious and portions were adequate.
Walked in on a very wet New Orleans night without reservation. Sat at the bar and was well taken care off by the bar guys and the servers. Service was friendly and attentive. The whole place was very dark and moody, perfect to impress with. Had the tomato salad to begin with and i would have it again. Tart and juicy, its acidity and sharpness on the tongue was refreshing. Main dish came and the bone-in NY Strip was rather excellent. It was about an inch thick yet the inside was cooked perfectly. You could see that the presentation was on the arty side, and that’s a summary of the place really - fancy done well.
We really enjoyed our meal at Doris Metropolitan New Orleans. The atmosphere is upper end, nice yet fairly casual. In the front is a large refrigerator with glass walls displaying the aged meats they serve. Our food was very good and the steaks were perfectly prepared. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. A great experience.
We made reservations to sit at the bar. Such a comfortable beautiful area. Joe took care of us. Joe is fantastic - he is a gem, The owners are so lucky to have him. Everything we had was fantastic. This restaurant is doing everything right. It might be my new favorite French quarter spot. Just try it, you won't be disappointed.
Food is excellent with an extensive wine selection! Service is great and the fact that the level of noise was minimal made it for a very enjoyable dinner.
Probably the best steakhouse we were ever in! We were looking at the menu outside and one of staff happened to be passing suggested we come in. Everything about this restaurant was superb. A particular shout out to our server and please forgive me, I have forgotten his name, was so knowledgeable and entertaining. This will be the first place we will go back to when we go back to New Orleans!
We celebrated our anniversary at Doris Metropolitan and the experience was truly exceptional from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and offered a complimentary glass of champagne. It was such a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the evening. The service was easily some of the best we have ever had. Our server Kris was incredibly kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. His recommendations were spot on and he even brought us something sweet and palate cleansing after dinner, which felt like such a personal gesture. As for the food, it was absolutely incredible. The steak was genuinely the best I have ever had, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The root mash was also a standout dish. We enjoyed a bottle of wine with our meal and everything from the first sip to the last bite felt curated and top tier. Even the management team impressed us. Anthony, one of the restaurant managers, came by to personally check in on our experience which really spoke to the level of care and hospitality here. I have been to New Orleans over eight times and this was hands down the best gastronomical experience I have had in the city so far. I highly recommend Doris Metropolitan for any special occasion or just a great night out. We will definitely be back and when we do we will be asking for Kris again.
Go here immediately! The food, the service, and the wine are AMAZING!! Each course was better than the last and the steak is legendary. The bread service is to die for, house made breads that you can’t pass up! Come hungry though because you will want to order everything!! The eggplant and Tomatoe appetizers are a must! Thanks for a great first experience Mei, you are the best!!
This place did not disappoint! Food was exceptional, we ordered 4 steaks chefs experience style. New York strip and rib eye were a standard out and the mushroom ragu and heirloom carrots were the perfect side. The service is genuinely a 10/10 Adam helped us celebrate in style.
I came here with a work colleague while visiting town. The food was really good, they give you a bread basket with three of their custom butters which was delicious. The steak came cut over a bed of risotto which was really good and complimented the meat well. The dining room is a bit loud.
I wouldn't normally think to go to a steakhouse in NOLA since the Gulf seafood scene is local but that needed to be changed. What started out as a bad experience elsewhere, ended up being a phenomenal experience when Doris came through to the rescue. From the Adam to the bread to the wine to the dinner AND dessert, Doris really came through to bring a smile. The bread and butter were awesome, the steak and root puree were heavenly, and the dessert (Bonaparte) was just divine. Thank you Doris for a splendid evening under your roof with it all going on in the right ways. Highly recommend a stop here in the French Quarter.
Doris Metropolitan is hands down one of the best dining experiences in New Orleans. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels upscale yet warm, with a stunning dry-aging room that immediately sets the tone for something special. The steaks are exceptional ,perfectly aged, beautifully seasoned, and cooked exactly as ordered. Every bite was rich, tender, and full of flavor. The Mediterranean touches in the appetizers and sides elevate the entire meal and make it feel unique compared to a traditional steakhouse. Service was attentive, knowledgeable, and professional without being overbearing. An unforgettable experience. Highly recommend for a special night out.
Dinner last night with friends. We found the Tuna Tartare app to be excellent. Octopus was small but also very good. Two in our party had tenderloin, two has bone-in ribeye. Tenderloin was said to be wonderful but a bit on the small side. Ribeye were large and done perfectly medium rare. Brussel sprouts also very good. Short wait for our 7:00 reservation but no problem. Do yourself a favor and Uber here, parking is hard to find.
Fabulous steak house w soothing earth tone decor, wood top tables and the best steaks ever. We dressed up a bit but not required- nice casual will work. Service outstanding
My wife and I have been to Doris for a date night and loved it. More recently we came with a large group for her birthday. The service is amazing. The food quality and presentation is even better. We absolutely love this dining experience.
Second time we have been there. Food fantastic. Waitress out of this world full of spirit, grace, and charm. The entire staff hands down the best, even better from we.tjere many years ago. Place is clean, orderly and well run. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
La mejor carne que he probado en mi vida. No dejes de ir, pero ya sabes la calidad de paga.
Food: The food was all great, with the short rib being among the best I've ever had. The bread service was also delightful, and as simple as they were, the truffle fries were amazing. For a surprise, grab their version of a Shirley temple and a nice glass of red wine to go along with dinner. The asparagus was also good, and the Ribeye was good, although didn't stand beside the amazing shortrib. Service: I docked it a star for service due to our waiter not explaining the menu, not knowing the different butters, and not being able to articulate the chef's experience. Because of that, we likely spent a lot less, as I was interested in the chefs experience but couldn't receive a clear and easy to understand explanation of what it was or how it'd work. The manager on duty was great, and he made his way to our table for congrats and general checks on the experience. If our waiter would've carried the same enthusiasm, I would've given them 5 stars.
The steaks and salmon here are excellent. Food is awesome. Took one star off because the service was very slow. Took forever to get refills on our drinks, took forever to order our entrées, and they forgot to bring out two of our sides, but they did give them to us for free after correcting that. Additionally, the table was very wobbly and the toilet seat was broken in the men's bathroom. For such an upscale place you expect more.
Had a wonderful menu. Our server was knowledgeable and had great recommendations. Very good food. I wish the dining experience was more intimate. It was loud and cold but not very crowded. It is advertised as a fine dining experience but felt casual. Dressing up for the occasion felt out of place.
Service, food and drinks all top notch. The only issue we had was the steak, we ordered the Delmonico medium rare and it was served blue rare. It was the rarest steak I've ever seen. We ate it because I dont send food back but kind of put a damper on a birthday meal.
Muy buena atención .rápida y esquisita la comida

We made reservation for happy hour at the bar but only to arrive to hear them say that the chef isn't doing happy hour tonight despite clearly stating it was on their website. I digress, the food was good and the bartender was friendly and very knowledgeable. He made us some of the best cocktails we had on our trip. Towards the end of our meal a large group came in and it got really loud. They were hang out at the bar chatting away while waited for the table and they were board line yelling at each other. Maybe they all had bad hearing or something but the staff didn't say anything and I even saw two solo diners at the bar put in their AirPods. There's room for improvement but we enjoyed the food and the drinks.
Starting out the place is very pretty and service is amazing. But from reviews and claims such as best new restaurant I’d expected more. Started with 3 appetizers and based on these didn’t make it to main course. Tomato salad was very under seasoned. This is not the place to ask for salt and pepper but I had to. The artichoke salad also lacked a punch and was very subtle. Best appetizer by far the tuna tartare. That was amazing. And while the homemade bread was tasty and came with some amazing flavored butters and oil, homemade bread that fresh should not be that hard. It was difficult to pull apart and cut. Server was amazing and very attentive and friendly.
Been dining here at least twice a year since it opened up 8 years ago. It used to be my all time fav steak house and I’m from Chicago where steak houses are on every corner. The last few times were unexpectedly worse than the past visit, this time I spoke up. The caviar service tasted good but was served in a soup bowl with caper, egg yolk, and crème fraiche. No utensils for the acoutrements only the jar of caviar and a mother of pearl spoon. Missing shallots and egg whites, a larger flat surface, and spoons for each item. The grilled Cesar salad was good not outstanding as the leaves were wimpy and wilted. The star of the evening was the fall off the bone rib and was still delicious after all these years. Coffee was weak, resembled tea, dessert was delicious cheese cake. Service was great, bartender engaging.
Came here for a bday celebration. The food was great, but the service was not good at all. We weren’t checked up on at all; weren’t asked if our food was ok, or if we needed anything. No birthday dessert was offered. We had a reservation later in the evening so it was not crowded at all. Very disappointed.
We entered the restaurant promptly at 5:15 for our reservation and were looking forward to enjoying some steaks. The place was almost empty except for a few tables. Unfortunately, due to their ridiculously bad service, we were out the door within moments. The host took us to a small corner table that was pinned between a wall and another table of people. There were maybe four inches of space between our table and these other random people we didn't know. It left zero room for conversation or privacy. We kindly asked for a different table in the vacuously empty restaurant. The manager refused. We then asked to sit at their also vacuously empty bar. He refused, claiming all the bar seats were also reserved. (Note: They don't even provide a mechanism for reserving bar seats, so I am unsure what he was even talking about. Further, the international bar norm is "first come, first served.") Due to the lack of a proper accommodation, we were forced to leave and go somewhere else. This place must be making money hand over fist if they can so comfortably and callously push $500+ out the door. We'll never be back, and we will advocate for others to avoid them.
I have no idea how this restaurant has a 4.7 rating. My ribeye was served lukewarm and had absolutely no flavor. I’ve had a superior ribeye at Longhorn steakhouse. Also, the cut was very fatty. Don’t waste your money or time here.
Food was amazing but server was nonexistent. Took our order and didn't see him again until we asked for the check. Went to celebrate a birthday and will not return due to the lack of service.
