Opinions de Legacy Kitchen's Tacklebox New Orleans
They just reopened today and the bartender had great recommendations for the ladies to drink. The Voodoo oysters were out of this world! Definitely a must try in my humble opinion. The beignets we're also very good, I will be back in the morning as I know there won't be a line here because it just reopened to the world today after closing in August.
The salmon and brussel sprouts. This was very delicious, salmon was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The brussel sprouts and balsamic glaze were also delicious, however I couldn't finish all of it because it got a little bit too greasy. Decor was beautiful, staff was friendly, polite, and very accommodating.
Swung by after a Saints with friends and had an absolutely great experience. Being vegan makes eating a challenge at times but Toni (one of the best waiters ever) made our night! He worked with the kitchen to craft an off the menu dish that was absolutely amazing!!! Very friendly and courteous staff, good food and really good drinks.
I travel all the Gulf Coast and search for Redfish. FOUND IT!! Our waiter was a very nice young man Ronald. We started with the Chargrill oysters and they are Awesome. The Redfish was seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection! Moist and tender fried catfish fried oysters and alligator bites filled the need for fried foods!! If you like grilled Red Snapper or Grilled Flounder you'll LOVE GRILLED REDFISH HERE
02-04-2023 Stopped by Legacy Kitchen's Tacklebox in New Orleans this evening for a nice pre-gig meal today. As I arrived, I was greeted by many smiles and was quickly escorted to the bar area. (Which is always my preferred option when eating out.) The bartender was busy, but greeted me and I was enjoying a delicious beer in no time. I had a Juciferx2 for my beverage and ordered the South Georgia Chicken Sandwich and fries for my meal. The sandwich came out very fast and was nice and hot! Thanks again for a delicious meal Legacy Kitchen's Tacklebox Much love Maestro Giaccone
Had a reservation for 4 at 11 AM on a Thursday. It was fairly busy. Staff was friendly and semi-attentive (our waters never got refilled). -Fries with Gravy -Trio of Gumbo, Red Beans, Rice -Voodoo Oysters -Mimosa Pricing was as expected for hot tourist location. Food was decent. Could recommend for seafood lovers looking for an easy meal, but we probably would branch out on our next visit.
This place has delicious food, friendly and accommodating staff and in my opinion, it flies under the radar. It's the type of unique place that when it's not too busy it still feels like a good vibe and when it's busy the space doesn't get too noisy. Great seafood, great portions, and they know how to scratch make the New Orleans classics. Dare to pair their Bloody Mary with fresh oysters, beat the heat with mugs of Ice cold local brews and leave room for their mini beignets.
We haven’t stayed in the hotel but visited this place for breakfast twice in a row. We stopped because of beignets and I admit they are the best in the whole NOLA. We took a portion of regular and mine ones, regular were better and richer in flavour. Also tried Elvis Burger - unusual mix of peanut butter, caramelised banana and burger meat and I 100% loved it. All employees are welcoming not too disturbing and always at ease. This place is one of a must visit on your food trip in NOLA.
Throughout my four day stay in NOLA, my friends and I came to Legacy 3 out of 4 of those days. It was connected to our hotel, and they had an awesome happy hour. Happy hour is daily 3-6 and applies to the table too, not just at the bar. You can get $3 beer/wine, and BOGO raw/charbroiled oysters. I'll admit that on our first visit, we went a little crazy. We each got a dozen oysters (which comes out to about $8 for a dozen), AND 8 of the charbroiled oysters ($7.50 for 8). Everything was great, but the charbroiled oysters are a bit heavy. Eight is definitely too much for one person. There was never really anyone there whenever we went during happy hour. I'm not sure why more people aren't taking advantage of this deal. If I lived in NOLA, my cholesterol level would definitely be up from coming here all the time.
This review is for Charles the bartender. We came in for a late evening dinner and dessert. Was told we would have to wait an hour. Hostess was not to friendly. As we was leaving Charles stopped us, invited us to sit at the bar he was working, found us stools was very accommodating. The service he provided is rare these days. He made my 50th birthday last minute outing one to remember. Hands down the best service we had on our visit to New Orleans.. Go check Charles out if you’re in the area.
Fantastic restaurant, connected to the Renaissance hotel. I had the very first meal of my NOLA trip there and instantly got hooked on the flavors of Cajun cuisine. Id recommend a Classic NOLA trio (Gumbo, Red Beans and Jambalaya) and Crawfish-Egg Beignet. The service was decent as well.
OH MY!!! Absolutely amazing deliciousness in New Orleans!! Was well priced, service was excellent! Chairs were not very comfortable is my only knock! Happy we chose to go! Oysters were grilled to perfection with fresh parmesan and garlic. Red fish was also just amazing! My LOADED seafood pot was fried Catfish, fried oysters, fried shrimp Boudin balls and hush puppies all on a bed fries!
Got in late from the airport, was able to be immediately seated at the bar. Had a Louisiana mule, which was good, served in a beer mug, no copper cups here lol. Had the Gumbo pot and a side of brussel sprouts. Gumbo was good, nice flavor. Brussel sprouts were cut a little thick and whatever they were cooked with (onions maybe) have it a weird texture, not bad just different. Good came out fast, water was refilled multiple times. Only took me 25 minutes to order and eat, which was exactly what I needed to get to bed. The atmosphere is clean, just lacked some of the soul of the city.
Well, family and I we were figuring out where to have dinner, and just happened to find this place across from our hotel. First, the smile and welcoming we received. That is always in my book, a 10 plus. Forgot her name, but she was so friendly and welcoming. Thank you. Now, our server "Chad/Superman" is an awesome person. We were blown away at his customer service approach and his professionalism as he greeted himself in a well-mannered manner. Sure made us feel like family, "Thank you so much, Chad, for your awesome personality and housepotaliy." Always with a smile. The food was so awesome and tasty. My goodness. Awesome food. As you all can see from the pictures, we'll plated and clean. The drink selections are impeccable. There is so much to choose from. I love bourbon, so I got Rabbit Hole. Never had it, now I am buying a bottle. Don't know the name of the bartender that served me. But, he knew his bourbon, and he was the one that recommended that drink for me. It's always drinking it neat when it comes to bourbon. Thank you, sir! Young lady that I asked where the restroom was at. I caught her off guard. I believe I disturbed her as she was doing her ballerina moves, pointing where the restrooms were. Well, I had fun with it, and I started doing ballerina moves towards the restrooms. Boy, was she laughing her heart out. Good personality. I hope I just made her night memorable. Ever New Orleans must visit this Legacy Kitchen's Tacklebox. Hope you visit, and I wish you all had awesome experiences like my family and I had.
I only had coffee here, but the staff support was stellar. We walked in between operating hours, hoping to grab some coffee, as the coffee place across the street turned out to be closed on Wednesdays. We were served superb proper lattes (mine on oat milk - again, really good), and my daughter also received some lemonade. Great hospitality and service!
My husband and I needed to meet someone briefly, but we decided to enjoy an early lunch at 11 a.m. on Sunday. It was the perfect time, as there were no crowds, the ambiance was lovely, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious. Clean restrooms are always a plus and say a lot about an establishment. The oysters were fresh, a nice size, and reasonably priced. The salmon, asparagus, and cabbage were cooked to perfection. The staff was attentive, and the other patrons were friendly. I would definitely go back and highly recommend it to others. I have no complaints. We even found a perfect parking space right outside the restaurant in downtown NOLA. Nowadays, many places can be hit or miss, but Tacklebox was definitely a hit on Sunday! ♥️ #FirstTime
I visit New Orleans from Chicago for my birthday weekend. My birthday is February 9. It was the beginning of Mardi Gras 2026 and we walked past the legacy tacklebox a few times and didn’t go in on Super Bowl Sunday. We decided to go in and have some happy hour cocktails prior to meeting up with friends and family to watch the Super Bowl. We stopped into the Legacy and we sat at the bar in our bar house name was Brea (Bria/Bri). She was very unspoken very professional. We talk to her along with a few other patrons that came in and sit at the bar. We all engaged in great conversation about New Orleans and a few other things and she was really great. We did order the salmon dip, which I did not care for. It was a little too bland but smoky like but overall the atmosphere was absolutely great. Our drinks were on point I had margaritas and my friend had the old-fashioned drink again thank you Brea for an amazing customer service Again, my food review is only solely based off of the smoked salmon dip. We forced ourselves to eat it. The crackers were OK that came with it, but we didn’t wanna waste our money so we ate.
First time eating here. My wife and I started with the alligator bites with a pepper jelly dipping sauce. Delicious 😋. For our entree, I got the chicken sandwich and my wife got the shrimp and grits. Both were outstanding. And Ms. Cat was the best. Very kind and attentive. Would recommend for sure
Walked in on a Thursday having not read a review. The restaurants atmosphere was nice, more of a swanky feel. Our server was Marvean and she helped us navigate their menu as first time customers. She was very helpful in deciding what we would order. Wifey had the chicken and waffles, which were both fresh, amongst the best she's had. The young son ordered the breakfast burger with fries... in a word he said it was all GOOD. I had the South Georgia Chicken Sandwhich with fries. The sandwich has a Vidalia onion slaw on it and the cruch at 1st bite was remarkable. There was a little kick , not sure what from, but the flavor was packing. Our server came back to check on us several times during our visit and cleared things off as needed. A wonderful experience!
Sam, Zac, and Maggie were all AMAZING servers that made our stay absolutely amazing. They were knowledgeable, kind, and friendly about drinks and the area. I would highly suggest visiting this restaurant as drinks and food were wonderful. 10/10 experience.
On vacation from NYC, I must say this place was incredible. The beignets, salmon, Brussels sprouts, jambalaya and gumbo were absolutely pinnacle. I highly recommend anyone visit to stop here. The atmosphere is phenomenal and the service was definitely beyond satisfactory. Perfect for a date night, not too costly either. Big big BIG thanks to our server, Renee, for helping to make this such an amazing experience I hope management sees this and gives her a nice raise 🙌🏾
Great job by all. Very friendly and welcoming. Super knowledgeable bartender, Sam, had me going outside of the box having a drink or two I have never tried before. Zach was gracious and kept us all entertained and we left happy. Had the charbroiled oysters and they were fantastic. The best food, drink and service we've had from a hotel bar. I would recommend even to others not staying at the hotel.
Fantastic brunch! The biscuits and crawfish & egg beignets were incredibly delicious. Their Bloody Marys were superb and perfectly balanced. Our bartenders, Tina and Sam, were absolute stars – so friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!
The Voodoo shrimp is very good. They also serve a local beer called the $3 lunch beer (don’t remember the actual name of the beer) I will be eating here again
Everything was excellent. Paige was a rockstar. Had a mishap with the oyster order. She corrected it in a jiffy. Would definately go back.
Fantastic food, fantastic service. The meals are delicious and focus on local dishes and flavors. Katina, our server and bartender, made us feel welcome and comfortable. 5/5 would recommend even if you’re not staying at the hotel.
My wife and I went to visit New Orleans for the third time around and I have to say Tacklebox was certainly a highlight! The shrimp and grits were delicious and the salmon Brussels sprouts really hit home after a long day. The crown jewel of it all was the service! Our server Austin was kind, polite, and very attentive to our needs! We’d recommend tacklebox to anyone who’s looking to come downtown for a vacation we were more than pleased!
We went for happy hour for the half off oysters. We had a dozen raw oysters and 8 charbroiled oysters. Both absolutely delicious. I got a $3 beer which was supposed to be a $5 beer due to a misunderstanding in price. We decided to get the Tackle Box platter but it came out either under cooked or over cooked. The waitress took it upon herself to get the manager after we said no and just wanted to pay for the oysters and beer. We're glad she did because the Manager took care of us with some more oysters. We appreciate the service. Thank you
Our server Cat was amazing! She was very knowledgeable about the menu and made us feel at home. I love the music. Do Not change anything! I felt like I was back at the 5 and dime with my grandparents. I love this place. Every part of our meal was amazing. Thank you again to Cat for making us feel welcome.
Just had an amazing brunch - with the fam - shared the tackle box seafood platter some oysters - and they treated us to some beignets! Perfect stop with delicious food!
My husband and I enjoyed this restaurant, it was so beautiful inside and the ambiance was very nice. We had the sweetest waiter named Austin and the beautiful lady that greeted us as we first came in was lovely as well. Food was delicious we has scampi, voodoo shrimp and the trio of gumbo, jambalaya red beans and rice. We also had beignets that were wonderful. Price was good and customer service was top notch and they were very attentive to us. Definitely worth the visit!
Page was an awesome waitress — super attentive with a great personality! The corn and crab chowder was incredible, and the bartender absolutely nailed the hurricane drinks. We may or may not have had one too many!
A little bit more expensive than most of the other restaurants in the neighbourhood, but worth every penny! It was the best dinner we've had in Nolo! Our server Austin was amazing and very understanding about an egg allergy at the table. We had baked oysters, redfish, catfish and Brussel sprouts and everything was top tier.
We kept walking past the Tacklebox on our way to Bourbon Street and finally decided to stop in and we’re so glad we did. On a Sunday afternoon with football games on, we were greeted with the most amazing welcome from Cat. The oysters and pimento cheese dip were incredible, the beers were perfectly frosty, and the seasonal homemade spritzers were such a treat. We had an unforgettable time and made memories we’ll cherish for years to come. A huge thank you to Cat for her kindness and for sharing such wonderful insight into the local history. We will absolutely be back ❤️
The hostess and seating experience set an unfortunate tone from the start. It was 1:00 in afternoon and we wanted some oysters and to sit at a table by the window, of which most were open. Hostess sat us in the back at a large booth. I asked for a table by the window..she mumbled something about the staffing assignments and seated us at the only table by the window, which was the only window table in the sun. I respectfully asked for a table out of the sun. In an obviously annoyed way she briskly took up the place settings and sat us at a good window table. The food was great, service other than the hostess was fine. This one unnecessary action tainted the experience. I get where restaurants want to assign tables to servers, but if everything is open...it's only a few feet of difference to accommodate a seating preference.
A few strangers I met while on my trip mentioned Tackle Box to me, and I decided to slide on in and give them a go. Listen here, best decision to end my night. Eve provided me and my friends with 5-star service. She's great at her job, very kind and attentive. She made great suggestions with the menu. She customized our drinks based on what we typically would drink. Girlfriend knows her way around the bar, trust!!! She's so amazing! I will be back for sure she gave me excellent NOLA customer service. The restaurant was empty but still a steady crowd flowing in. We sat at the bar and were able to see all the actions outside. It was nice to witness a NOLA wedding parade right outside the window. Now, let's talk about the food because I know that's what you came here for... I ordered the southern Georgia chicken sandwich with fries.... Babay, it did what it was supposed to do. So juicy and full of flavor that were well balanced out. The sauce on the chicken had the perfect amount of heat and sweetness. The bread was buttery and soft. Honestly, there was nothing special about the slaw on top, but it worked altogether. I would highly recommend this dish, but next time I visit, I hope I'm bold enough to try the oysters. They looked so mouthwatering. The liquor in my system almost gave me liquid courage.
Good food. This is a great location in the financial district, just about 1/2 mile from the French quarter and located near many hotels. The bar is hip and cool. They have plenty of seating. There is a good beer list and wine list. I loved the crab and corn chowder, chicken and waffles and the crawfish Cesar salad. They have a full bar too if you like that. The service was exceptional, very friendly and quick as well. I totally recommend this restaurant for a quick bite or for dinner!
Legacy Kitchen's Tacklebox is a fine restaurant, with friendly and attentive staff. The waitress was helpful, explaining each dish we asked about. We tried several dishes and they were all good. I think the restaurant wants to appear more upscale and trendy than it actually is, but still overall a perfectly fine place to eat. We would definitely eat here again when in the city.
Very nice restaurant huge bar dining area is comfortable and cozy — staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Lots of good food options prepared “New Orleans Style” Which I’m learning is a lot of butter and kind of greasy, but the taste was good from the appetizer to the dessert - thank you!
This restaurant was nice and the food was delicious! We ordered the red fish, shrimp scampi and the broiled oysters which were amazing in a garlic butter sauce. The red fish was really good but the portions were smaller than expected. I also ordered a Bloody Mary and old fashioned; they were tasty. If you’re near the downtown area, check them out. Oh, the peach cobbler was great too!
We were staying at the Renaissance Pere Marquette hotel in NOLA. The Tacklebox restaurant is associated with the hotel. Their food was (for a hotel or a standalone restaurant) really quite good! The Voodoo shrimp app was excellent, the Smashburger was very good (though my friend found out he didn't love pimentos in the cheese!). The Redfish St. Charles entree was good, though a bit overcooked. Definitely happy with it and the prices were extremely fair. If you get a chance, hit their Happy Hour - the prices are great and the quality is very good. Had a bottle of wine for $43 included in the price below. Cat and Sam are both great. Cheers!
This was a lackluster experience at best. My family and I visited New Orleans (some for the first time) and this spot was near our hotel. As we were walking back to the hotel from the Krewe of Hermes parade we happened to stop in. We didn't have reservations but they were able to seat us after a bit of contention. Nothing bad just some unnecessary conversation with the hostess, imo. Just a note: Make sure to make a reservation if you decide in advance that you want to visit this location. This is not a good location if you wander in off the street. This is not a kid-friendly location. The food, imo, was nothing to write home about. It was decent and sufficed for a hungry family that was sightseeing. The family tried several different meals but the chicken and waffles was definitely a hit. The Elvis burger left a lot to be desired and the Shrimp and Grits were decent. The Alligator Poppers were under cooked but still a delight since no one at the table had ever had alligator aside from myself. Ideal: This would be a good location if you're out solo or with a small group of friends and want to meet for drinks. They definitely make the food taste better.
Decided to stop in and try last week while on a hut for some food that is in walking distance to my house. I met the sweetest hostess, Renita. She gave me a few recommendations on the menu. I ordered the shrimp and grits which was okay. I also had a drink, Rosie’s Cosmopolitan which was very good. I probably wouldn’t go here for food again but drinks + service was A1. Ambiance was nice and chill. This restaurant is actually connected to a hotel.
The Pros: Sanique was our server and she was really nice and accomodating. She went out of her way to make sure we had a good experience. The Red Beans and Rice was the best I've had in New Orleans so far, the Louisiana Meat Pies were so good. They were juicy and tender on the inside with a nice crispy pastry. The South Georgia Fried Chicken was phenomenal. The Bread Pudding (it's not on the menu but Sanique recommended it) blew my mind and the beignets are better than Cafe Du Monde! The Cons: It took 30 minutes for us to get our drinks originally, and sometimes it took a while to get our drinks refilled after that, so it felt like the bar was really slow. My brother ordered a non-alcoholic drink (a diet coke with grenadine) that the bartender came and asked him what he actually wanted, and then served him a diet coke with Johny Walker, so it was a little surprising and could be an issue for anyone who's non-alcoholic. The chef missed one of the entrees in our order and it took about 20 minutes longer than the rest of that food for that entree to come out. And to top it off, it was a completely dry and unsauced Po'boy so we didn't even like it after waiting for it. Also, I ordered a side of vegetables of the day for $8 and was served 4 sticks of asparagus. (The picture only has 3 because I ate one first to see if it was amazing, and it wasn't) That one item is a total rip off.
Our servicer was good. The menu didn't really match the food - it was a bit misleading and therefore disappointing. For example: the smash burger isn't smashed, the catfish in burnt butter is actually deepfried not fried, Louisiana popcorn rice is just white rice. The restaurant was busy, but not full, and food took a long time to arrive.
I heard a lot about the Tackle Box and I was excited to finally get to dine with them. Walking in, it looked like a really nice restaurant, and I was excited for the opportunity. Unfortunately, I had the smoked oysters and was not impressed, they had a very gritty taste, and just not as flavorful as I expected. Since it was late, I was only going to have the loaded gumbo soup, again. This was a disappointment. The shrimp were gritty and it didn’t have a memorable taste as a whole. I’m sorry, but I could not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The food was very good, restaurant was beautiful but the service was awful. Went in at about noon on a Saturday, not very busy. Waited roughly 45 minutes for our food which was good but the table behind us waited even longer than us for cold food. We could have just gotten unlucky but overall disappointed in the service for a restaurant of this caliber.
Update...... I now have two amounts on my credit card for my Thursday dinner at the Tacklebox on my credit card... 1. $72.83 - the correct amount with tip 2. $61.83 - amount with no tip I am hopeful that The Tacklebox will take action and remove the second item. ****************************************************************** Food was good but check amounts were incorrect and/or confusing. The first food check presented to me after dinner on Thursday evening was $60.03. The credit card sales receipt presented to me to sign and add tip was $61.83. I assume the difference of 3% was a charge to use a credit card. The following message on the credit card receipt - Menu prices reflect cash prices. I don't know if the info is included on the menu or not. I provided a tip of $11.00 which represents about 20% of the food and drink total of $54.20 which brought the credit card charge to $72.83. Today-Monday- I have two charges on my credit card account in the amounts of $61.83 and $12.85 which totals $74.68. The difference between my credit card receipt and the credit card billing is $1.85. I do not know why the two amounts are different. My advice....check the sales receipt and credit card billing following your dining experience. I am hopeful that the correct amounts will appear on my credit card account in the next day or two.
Stopped in because of the convenience. It is located adjacent to the Renaissance Marriott. It took a good 8 or so minutes to be acknowledged to be sat. The place was dead on a Wednesday night. After being sat I waited another 10 mins for a server. She was very nice but had only been working for a week and wasn't able to answer menu questions. Since I had sat for so long with the menu I decided to use common sense and I ordered my drink, an appetizer, and my meal at the same time, since attention to guests seemed a bit off. My mistake!! My appetizer and dinner arrived about 2-3 minutes apart. Ordered the alligator poppers. As other reviews have stated, they are good.my main dish... not so much. The shrimp and grits had no flavor!! No amount of salt and pepper could salvage this dish. Which makes me so sad. The best shrimp and grits are always in New Orleans. I have never been disappointed... except this meal. Some shrimp were cooked perfectly the others were over cooked .. gray and chewy. Cheese is not a seasoning. My dish was covered in it. The roux for the shrimp and veggies was clear and thin. Not use to that in this dish. Because of these issues I barely touched my food. Since I'd been traveling all day and I barely touched my dinner. I ordered dessert... if you eat here just ordered drinks and dessert! You will not be disappointed in those dishes. The bread pudding is really good
Stayed in the connected hotel and ate two meals in the restaurant. Service was extremely slow both times. The dinner I ordered was decent but nothing amazing. The breakfast I had was so bad. My waitress never checked in on me so I couldn't let her know there was an issue. Once she finally came back and I had to go, I told her that I was disappointed in the food and she just shrugged her shoulders. There are definitely better places to eat.
The restaurant is nice, the end! The hostess was sitting at the back booth while we waited 15 minutes to be sat. We stayed because the guy in front was, is very nice. Here she comes walking very slow with a Red Bull, there were four tables. Two Servers present with their tables, Not one even smiles at us, we waited about ten minutes, the bartender was our server. Alligator bites were real good though it took about 20 minutes the crawfish beignets were about ten dough balls with some kind of sauce drizzled on it, that was bad, now we wait about 30 minutes for refills on water server Finally comes back I ask,” what’s better shrimp n grits or shrimp scampi.” Oh the shrimp and grits, thank you my daughter gets the salmon, cooked to perfection 30 minutes after we order I received my meal lol it was a small pot of grits in a plate with Five shrimp and three half of a half pieces of sausage now with BBQ sauce poured over it ????? Now, our server comes back about 2025 minutes later, after I ask another server to ask for our check because we were on our way to see Hamilton, she brings the check, I say I didn’t eat my food Oh, why didn’t you tell me sooner??? What? Then she explains how bad the shrimp n grits are?? You suggested it to me?? It’s sad that this place is so nice but the staff doesn’t seem to care expecting for the guy in the front behind that bar and Ariana, I believe that’s her name. She was so sweet, a little worried that I wasn’t ha Happy With my food but I watching watched her with her table, she’s very friendly SheA very friendly, she also brought us our food. Sad to say we won’t go back, no southern hospitality in New Orleans and that’s where we’re from
Where to start? First, the menu online is not the menu that is presented at the restaurant; we were looking forward to trying the shrimp remoulade Caesar and the kale Caesar was on the menu instead. Second, the food served doesn’t match the food on the menu presented; we ordered a kale Caesar with French bread croutons and received a Caesar with zero kale and pitiful Sysco croutons that looked like they came straight from aisle 7 at WalMart. Third, we received our meals separately; I received my redfish st. Charles 10 minutes before my boyfriend received his salmon. Fourth, the food was average; the redfish at. Charles tasted like the redfish I broil in the oven at home with butter and seafood magic. The asparagus were overcooked and stringy, and the salmon my boyfriend ordered was overdone as well. We’re local and I wanted to tell a fellow diner who seemed to be from Australia that she should go somewhere else to eat because this place wasn’t a good representation of our food. Y’all need to do a lot better.
Extremely slow service, party of six ~ cocktails took 20 minutes; (goopy) chargrilled oyster appetizer took 40mins ~ simple entrees of red beans and rice, catfish, etc ~ took another 40 minutes to come out... Really not worth the price. Definitely won't be back for a while.
Can New Orleans to see a show? We normally eat at the tacklebox around 5 PM. Today we had a different person at the bar. It was very standoffish. Came over and said she was gonna bring us water and I said we don’t drink water. We would like a captain and diet and a jack and diet. She said I’m not taking your order right now. I’m gonna bring you a water and I will come back and take your order later. At which point we left and went an eighth in a different restaurant. Hopefully next time we will have the waiter that normally waits on us that doesn’t force us to drink water and brings us what we actually want and greets us with a smile. Which apparently is not something the current bartender is able to do.
⭐ 1 star Absolutely one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. We had a reservation for a party of 8, and despite planning ahead, everything went downhill from the moment we sat down. It took over 25 minutes just to get our drinks, and nearly an hour before anyone checked in on us again for refills. When we arrived we were the only table in the establishment. The food? Completely unacceptable. Most of it was cold, and several items—especially the shrimp—tasted rotten or clearly not fresh. The hush puppies were so over-fried and rock hard they looked like they had been sitting around for days. Out of all 8 meals ordered, the only one anyone could eat was the chicken and waffles. Everything else was either inedible or clearly not safe to serve. To make matters worse, the manager openly told us he was sick and should be wearing a mask—then proceeded to go into the kitchen. When we brought up the issues with the food and the service, he offered no apology, no explanation, no resolution. Just a repeated “I’ll figure it out,” and then disappeared. It took an additional 30 minutes after multiple requests just to get our check. As someone with a background in the restaurant industry, I was appalled by the lack of professionalism, concern, and basic hospitality. This place needs serious help—both in the kitchen and in management. I would not recommend it to anyone.
Food came out icy cold. Shrimp tasted so completely off. Hush puppies hard as a brick. Has to ask three times for refills. Saw the waitress maybe 3 times. Forgot to put in three meals so the rest of our party had to sit and watch us eat. The shrimp made my mother throw up. Don’t know who is rating this place so highly considering there’s much better places but never again. Save your money and go somewhere else. There was also a ladder in the restroom making it hard to go to the restroom. Oh I almost forgot the worthless manager. He has no social skills whatsoever. Standing there literally like this emoji 🧍. He said he “don’t mind how I look right now I’m sick and didn’t feel well” to our table before saying anything. No apology or anything. Waitress said not the first person to complain about it. Insanely disappointed .
