Called in an order first thing this morning including that the bagels be sliced into quarters. They were happy to help, as always and of course everything was fresh and delicious. How lucky New Paltz is to have them. Thank you Bagel Cafe

Great staff, bagels baked fresh daily, and so many cream cheese choices! Excellent sandwiches, sides, and beverage options. My go to sandwich is a toasted honey wheat bagel with light scallion cream cheese, tomato, and bacon. They sell Hudson Valley Fresh chocolate milk here which is by far the best chocolate milk on the planet (tastes like melted chocolate ice cream)! I have never had a bad meal here. Bring your family, bring your friends, or stop in before work to grab some breakfast. They're open early!

This place is pretty fantastic! I ordered an egg and cheese on a super onion bagel and it turned my ride upside down! My acquaintance got a bagel with veggie 🅱ream cheese and it looked like something I would order at. I would definitely come back here but sadly on the way out of the door, I fell into a storm drain. I'm currently wandering around in the dark somewhere under New Paltz. Send help. 5/5

I love the New Paltz Bagel Cafe. I am from New Jersey. Every time we come to New Paltz , I have to go there. I always get a raisin bagel with butter and hot chocolate. YUM! YUM! 😋

Every time I come to this place, it is packed. That's a great sign. It's all cash so bring cash. I come here so often that they usually remember my order! And I really like all of their staff, specially Sarah!

I cannot recommend this place enough. Wonderful bagels (crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside) and even better bagel sandwiches. They have different types of wraps and sandwiches (even some bakery items) for a really really good price. They only take cash, but there's an ATM inside so it shouldn't be much of an issue. You might have to wait in a long line, but it's worth it, trust me.

The only place around here that makes egg sammys like this! Soooooo good. It’s hard to find an authentic New York deli in these parts. I’ve only had breakfast there but so far so delicious! Reasonably priced also.

I'm originally from Brooklyn, home of the best bagels. That being said, this is the ONLY place up here that I go to for bagels. Great selection, friendly staff, and now that they have a new grill, their sandwiches are even better than they were. They also have great iced coffee.

So today was my third I'm here, I am addicted to the cinnamon raisin walnut cream cheese on a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel. Today I was a few cents short and the girl let me slide But c'mon it's 2023 and yes I understand credit card fees but people pay with cards and phones now.... Forcing people to use the ATM is not cool. People will come more and spend more!

When you need a bagel, this is the place to go. This is exactly the place to expect in NY. Cash only, abrupt staff....and food 💥🤯. It's the type of food where you are grumpy and eat it...and then forget why you were grumpy. In fact you forget everything going on and just keep eating. When you finish halfway down the road, you think to yourself "maybe I can be a little late and turn around and get another bagel". There are no bad experiences here, just happy little bagels getting you through life.

Great NY bagel experience. They do not take credit cards, but there is an ATM inside. If you go at a busy time there will be a wait but they are quick and efficient. Breakfast sandwiches are delicious. The super is their version of an everything bagel and the super multi is an everything on multi grain (very good and doesn't feel much different than the super)

It’s fresh every time. Every single time. The nova is sliced to perfection. We travel from New Windsor to get there. Can’t find anything half as good in the Newburgh area. The only thing wrong with this place is they seriously need a better vent fan. The air is terrible inside.

I was craving a bagel and stumbled upon this spot online. Decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised! The line was already forming when I arrived, which made me realize it’s a popular spot. The bagels were absolutely delicious, and they have a great selection, including pretzel and whole wheat bagels, which I really appreciated. The bacon, egg, and cheese bagel was fantastic. They also have a nice seating area and the staff was very friendly. Highly recommend checking it out!

Well worth waiting on the line going out the door (Saturday, 11AM)... Much quicker service than expected and the food is perfectly cooked. Bagels are elite level and perfectly baked soft. Eggs are not runny but hardly dry - another perfect execution. I'm new here and I will return, best bagel spot in the region so far. Calling in next time to cut down on the wait

I was housesitting in the area for 2 months and I came here about 6-7 different times because they were honestly the best bagels Ive tasted in a LONG time! And soooo affordable! $5.50 for a asiago bacon egg and cheese bagel 🤯 YES! Thats what Im talking about! Beats all the other bougie bagels spots Ive been in. I will always come back here if I’m in the area again! Oh and they are super friendly! They do get busy cuz their amazing so expect that if you go in the mornings.

They microwave egg sandwiches. The cheese isnt real... is sliced American. The coffee is weak and tasteless. Kicker was even after buying sandwiches for four they wouldn't let my 8 year old use the bathroom even though she was desperate. Will not be back!

A New Paltz staple, this place has been churning out their signature bagels for years. You'll find everything you'd expect from an independent New York bagel shop. They offer an extensive selection of cream cheeses, with many flavors that are hard to find elsewhere. Don't be discouraged by the long lines... The skilled staff keep things moving along quickly.

We came in just before 2. They told us we couldn't order bacon. Because the grill was closed. Meanwhile we could see bacon on the grill for a called in order. There were no other customers in the restaurant. I am disappointed but it won't stop me from coming back because I love the bagels.

Hours are listed incorrectly. They are open 6AM to 3PM. Great bagels and sandwiches. Cash only!

Great bagels, I really enjoyed the bacon egg and cheese sesame bagel sandwich. The shop is very old school, with the classic “mom and pop” feel. Their bagels are delicious and always fresh. The only negative aspect is that they don’t take card, which is very inconvenient, especially for larger orders. There is also no signage that I recall outside the store that alerts of this, only one inside. Despite this, I had a pleasant experience there.

Bagels are ok, they arent too big which is nice. The staff was not very friendly. They only take cash and the ATM the have charges $2 so a $3 meal turns into $5 which is a bit of a rip off/.

Bagels were good, not fresh enough to eat without toasting, not that chewy like a real NY bagel IMHO. Coffee was ok, nothing special, served super hot. No Android/Apple pay or credit cards accepted. Ripoff ATM in the shop in true NY cash only establishment tradition.

The people who work at new Paltz bagel cafe are RUDE and grumpy. I go in there once a week but I think today was my last. Nasty look from the owner along with being rude. Too bad.

The bagels are good, and it's the only bagel place in New Paltz -- but the preparation is not hygenic, and if your order has more than component, the staff will invariably get it wrong. Staff members do not wear masks, and I have seen them touch their noses and their mouths before preparing bagel orders.

I usually love this place, but today I ordered a buttered bialy, and I was dumbstruck. Who butters a bialy like this?? (Note that it was in no way cut in half...) I don’t understand how a bagel with a slice of cheese is $4.89 when a bagel with egg and cheese is $4.40……..feel robbed to be honest. It sucks that this is the only bagel shop in town .

it's frustrating when you order a toasted bagel and specifically request that it's toasted not warmed to put through toaster twice if needed and every time I get an untoasted bagel with a texture I will not eat besides the fact that they don't accept cards. I understand that it's a bagel shop just have a minimum instead of forcing customers to use the ATM so that you can charge them fees. The Jalepeno cream cheese is on point which is why I even go there. I will continue to buy tye cream cheese but order my bagels elsewhere even if I have to drive to downtown bagels in Newburgh or Middletown.

I’ve been a loyal customer of this bagel shop for years and have always been satisfied with my orders. However, during my recent visit, things didn’t go as smoothly. The unfamiliar staff member who took my order did not include bags for two of my sandwiches, which is unusual for this place. When I picked my BLT the wrapping paper opened and exposed the inside , I was shocked to see that it was almost bare, unlike the usual I’ve come to expect from this shop. Another staff member kindly stepped in and made a new BLT for me. While I appreciate the replacement sandwich, it’s disappointing to see a new staff member impacting the quality of service. As a business owner i understand the importance of maintaining high standards. It’s great that another staff member intervened and rectified the situation.

Bagels are good, breakfast sandwiches are good, but service is very poor. I’m sure the girls are nice but it is very slow. If you’re in a hurry, on a time constraint, going to the airport, this is not the place. Also, if you called ahead to order, it doesn’t help if the lines out the door. You still have to wait in line to get to the counter to get your order that is sitting ready. It could be a very good eatery but needs to be a better system and quicker. If you happen to get there at a slow time and the Line is short or non existent, then you’ll probably gave a fine experience.

The woman behind the counter today asked me for my order and then turned completely around while I spoke to her. She didn't turn around once. Not to answer any questions or to confirm my order. I’ve been going here for years and I’m now noticing the change in service. Girl was rude and bagels with cream cheese is now 4.30 with barley any cream cheese. Was not happy with it at all. For that much there should be a good layer of cream cheese not a scraping.

Just bought a dozen bagels and wished I didn’t. These sad bagels have a gritty texture. Not sure if they are old or were once frozen? I had to pay cash because they do not take credit cards. ATM fees here we go! Can’t get a decent bagel near New Paltz!!! Employees were rude and rushing me to pay. I will never go back!

Do not eat here unless you want a side of salmonella with your bacon egg and cheese. Not only did they microwave a raw egg in a plastic Tupperware container to cook it but they didn't even have the decency to hide the microwaves...my sandwich was lukewarm. Couldn't even eat it, threw it right in the TRASH.

The bagels are fine but the place could be closed anytime between 1:30-2:30 without notice (3rd time in 2 weeks). Why don't they just have an official earlier closing time instead of posting that it's open until 3pm when it never is?

Food was terrible soo much pepper on my sandwich I couldn’t taste anything but not to mention when I first got it I hate a hair in my food due to people not wearing hair nets while making food I saw the women who was making it soo disappointing to have had this as a first time experience with you guys ( p.s. it’s 2020 get a credit card machine or even the square that go into a phone)

Didn't find out until I got to the register to place my order ('cos of the long line) that they only accepted cash and checks, which I don't carry! There were no signs about that at the door! So, okay, I took my business to the pizza place next door.

Horrible experience. Ordered three breakfast sandwiches on three different type of bagels. 1st egg is nuked. 2nd each bagel was old and tasteless. It was 9am when we ordered so should be fresh. Overall would not return. I guess college kids don't care

I asked the guy on the phone if we could place 2 bagels for pickup. He said yes, give HS 20 minutes. It’s beyond me why they didn’t say regardless, they don’t have a separate line for pickups. He was rude and obviously misleading. Really disappointed in the service and won’t be coming again.

Don’t place phone orders here unless you intend on waiting 45 minutes on a line that is out the door with about 15 people. Dont even dare cut through all the people waiting to order to ask to pay for your food that you already ordered ahead of time and is ready, they will tell you to get to the back of the line. Not an efficient system. Place sucks. Bagel&bites or Russos, highly recommend.

Went inside and the menu looked so yummy! The service was a bit slow but we were willing to wait the 30 mins until we were next in line......and then we saw it! They only accept cash but they weren’t gloves, so they grab people’s money and then turn around and with dirty hands grab people’s bagels and drinks and assemble everything without gloves and not even hand sanitizing. Super disappointed. That’s basic hygiene rules, specially for a food establishment, and with covid around even more. We walked out, of course.

Down sides: No Credit or Debit Cards being accepted. Can’t argue with that. Here was the biggest downside. I ordered extra bacon. I look at my sandwich and there was two slices (very thin). I go back and ask for the extra bacon that I paid for and they hand me back two more slices. Truth be told, you don’t get what you pay for.

Wanted 3 bacon egg & cheeses for the family and got turned down because the grill was off. Was offered other options but none that we wanted. It's 2:29 PM. Very disappointed. I guess every one should plan accordingly w this business, including myself.

These guys used to be amazing. Been going here forever, actually! Now when they answer the phone for pick up’s they’re RUDE. AND if you ask for Salt a pepper Ketchup or Hot Sauce Salt and Pepper, they won’t put it on there. Not worth the way they speak to you or the way their food tastes anymore.

To be honest the bagels are good. but it doesn’t make up for the horrible customer service I received the last two times I went there. I give one star because after the 13 years I've been living here, they still don't take credit cards. They have lost so much of my business. I like to buy lox in quantity, and most of the time I don't have the cash. Who carries cash anymore? Who, in this area, doesn't accept credit cards? Is this a cheapness thing, that the owners don't want to pay for credit card usage? If it is, I can assure them that they have lost more money in sales than they could possibly save by not having a credit card service. Also, customer service is always bad. Rude, sullen workers that seem like they hate their job. In my experience, that attitude is usually do to unappreciative owners and managers.

Seriously so rude I can’t believe it! The website says they close at 3 my co workers and I wanted to place a large order.. we called for 45 minutes before a girl answered and said with the most disgusting, “we’re not answering because we’re closed.” Then when I went to tell her the website said 3pm she had just hung up on me. I love these bagels and there sandwiches so it’s sad that I will never go here again. I almost wanted to walk up the street to say something but instead I’ll speak to a manager. It’s done for this bagel place!

But when I just wanted a simple explanation, the response I got was a rude, aggressive "it's like pizza, there's only two of us here." I wasn't complaining or making a scene, I was just picking up my order. A little kindness goes a long way, and this was the opposite of that. And honestly? The bagels aren't even that great. Hard pass.

If a customer requests Tofu cream cheese due to allergies they should not be given regular. Please label it better.
