Opinions de Aji Sushi New York
Delicious, fresh ingredients. The ratios on point - you can tell the sushi chefs are not only experienced but have great skill. Each piece was consistent and the again the ratios on point (something that seems so simple but not easy to do). Just had a couple rolls and a miso soup. I knew right when I had the miso soup that this place was going to be good. Next time have to try the nigiri. Atmosphere is great. I enjoyed dining inside in a peaceful atmosphere. Service attentive when needed to be, took my order, quick, efficient.
I have been going to Aji sushi for years and they do not disappoint! Joe is the best server and always so kind and remembers our orders. The service and food is always great! Highly recommend !
I came here for dinner with my husband. I ordered the spicy triplets. This was one of the best spicy rolls I have ever tried. It was so fresh and the spicy level was not overwhelming. You can taste all the flavors on the roll. The team there is so nice and attentive. I plan to come back with my husband for another date night.
I've been poking around this city in search of a go-to sushi place, with middling success. Back in Seattle my place is Azuma Sushi, has never let me down, but New York has been tricky. Generally the places I can somewhat afford haven't knocked my socks off, and the places with the best quality fish have been of the break-the-bank variety. It can get bleak. One begins to lose hope. But as luck would have it, I was deep in the internet 'sushi near me' trenches of the interweb and up popped this little spot, which I saw was sporting something called a 'Sushi Sashimi Dinner'. 9 pieces of sashimi, 5 nigiri AND a roll for 26 bucks, which seems not cheap, but when you consider that's about the cost of an egg right now you figure it's a pretty decent thing to put your money toward. I ordered that, subbed the roll for an eel cucumber one because I know what I'm about and I love unagi, also got miso and a salad because Japanese restaurants know how to make a hell of a ginger carrot dressing. I don't like squid or octopus, whatever morality scale I'm on excludes them from my pescatarian diet. They're too intelligent and it makes me feel bad. Sorry fish. But anyway the woman who took my order was very nice about not including them in the sashimi. My order was ready crazy fast- I got it to go because eating out alone makes me feel weird but the restaurant was very pleasant, nice lighting, soft but not dark, good color, the people working were very cheery. And SKILLED. Because this fish. This fish people. Just melt in the mouth, clean, buttery, I could feel my brain getting smarter and my bones getting stronger and my hair growing and my superpowers setting in and all the problems in the world healing magically as I ate this fish. The salmon! Again it was just the best, most fresh, buttery, highest quality. Everything was tied for or was the best sashimi of that type of fish that I've had. Every one. Miso was great, of course, salad was great, of course, the bill was reasonableness defined and after the meal felt like the steal of the century. It took me two years but I found it people, the sushi spot hath been secured. I'm oddly relieved! And very delighted. Weight off the shoulders. To conclude. This place is fabulous! And I hereby pledge myself a loyal customer
Great quality sushi, sashimi, rolls, fairly priced and with a great attitude. Tries this place several times since it was nearby to the hotel I was staying and it was so good that I just needed to try it several times. Will return for sure whenever I’m in the area.
I've been on a good run with finding amazing restaurants lately. The sushi and sashimi here are some of the best I've had ever.
Awesome neighborhood restaurant! My family and I dined here twice over the last week. Great sushi, tasty vanilla mochi ice cream, friendly, efficient service. I could dine here again and again.
Great restaurant. Wonderful service! We needed a late dinner. Food portion size was good.

Pros: The atmosphere at Aji Sushi is one of its standout features. The restaurant is bright and inviting, with a homey feel that immediately puts you at ease. The decor is simple yet elegant, creating a comfortable environment that’s perfect for both casual dining and more formal gatherings. The layout of the restaurant is spacious, making it ideal for hosting larger groups or meetings. You can confidently bring colleagues or friends, knowing that the staff will treat everyone with the utmost care and attention. The staff is attentive and personable, treating you like family from the moment you walk in. They’re quick to accommodate special requests and make sure that the needs of your entire group are met, contributing to a seamless dining experience. Cons: While Aji Sushi excels in many areas, it can get quite busy during peak lunch and dinner hours, which might lead to slightly longer wait times. Additionally, the menu prices are on par with other Japanese restaurants in Midtown, which means they’re not the cheapest option around, but the quality of food and service justifies the cost. Overall: Aji Sushi provides a five-star dining experience that combines traditional Japanese cuisine with a bright, comfortable atmosphere. Whether you're dining solo, hosting a business lunch, or gathering with friends, Aji Sushi offers a welcoming environment and attentive service that makes every visit enjoyable. If you’re in the area and looking for a reliable spot for authentic Japanese dishes, Aji Sushi is a great choice.
Definitely the best sushi I had for a few years! Pleasant place, truly love it
Very good. Great rolls but also the hamachi belly sashimi was amazing. Good service too.
Great sushi restaurant in midtown east!! The salmon sashimi is amazing, so fresh and thick🤩 Recommend the Santa Clause Roll!
Wow! The best sushi I’ve ever had… every fish is so clean and fresh. I got the sashimi platter and worth every penny! Delicious!
Delicious affordable sushi for takeout! The fish is very fresh. I picked up food but the spot itself looks really nice for dine in as well. Really happy the neighborhood has a good go to sushi spot now!
Excellent sushi, tempura and chicken katsu here, + generous portions! The space feels brand new. The staff were all very attentive and kind. Highly recommend 💯

I ordered a “simple” and yet delicious sashimi and was amazed by polite service of the staff. I can feel that it’s a great place and will definitely return

Obsessed! This place is 🔥. I ate here 3 times during my week in the neighborhood. This is some of the best sushi I’ve ever had and I’ve been to Japan multiple times. The sushi is so fresh, the quality is high, and everything is delicious! The dinner specials are an amazing amount of food too. Shu Mai, soup, salad, your entree, rice and six pieces of sushi rolls are included. I was stuffed. Fairly priced lunch specials too. I would come back all the time if I lived here. Thank you for the delicious Japanese food!
Wife and I were in town for the night and wanted sushi. It was super fresh, staff were kind and friendly and the restaurant was cozy. Highly recommend the Dragon Ball appetizer, it was so good.

Been coming here for ages. It's my go-to for fresh, delicious sushi! They are generous with the amount of meat inside the sushi, too.

Popped into Aji Sushi for a quick sushi dinner after reading the online reviews. This is the perfect neighborhood place for a delicious sushi/Japanese dinner. The staff was prompt and attentive. We got a 300 ML bottle of premium sake, a couple of pieces of sushi, two specialty rolls, and two appetizers and all for under $100. The food was excellent, very fresh. The rolls were delicious and the presentation was pleasing. Excellent quality for an excellent price. Will definitely look forward to coming back here soon.
Aji Sushi is popular with the lunch crowd and understandably so. The overall quality and taste of the food was very good. The mixed tempura was almost perfect (the taro could have been cut thinner). The tofu teriyaki bento was executed well. The service was prompt.
Solid and popular sushi place I discovered by accident near the UN building off 2nd Ave. The sashimi was excellent and the bento box was better than most. Huge crowd between 11A and 2P.

Stopped here for lunch. Had the sushi and a spicy salmon roll + miso soup. The miso soup was good. The salmon roll wrap was rubbery and the salmon was flavorless, and the sushi plate was definitely not as fresh as it should have been. Very disappointing. Definitely better options in the area.

I ordered chicken teriyaki with miso soup and white rice. The food was okay good, nothing too particularly special, solid price of $16? a reasonable portion with no leftovers unfortunately (I have a pretty small appetite so most restaurant foods I am able to eat half and bring the other home), and the service was just not good. As previous comments have said, there is no Staff communication and it just seems like a very tense environment to eat in. The restaurant seems to be mostly making money off delivery as that’s the largest bulk of their popularity and how they make money. I don’t recommend dining in, just an awkward and not particularly friendly environment.
