Very friendly, knowledgeable, and personable service. Broad selection of excellent wines. Delicious and authentic Spanish snacks.
visited bar jarmon on a cool saturday afternoon and enjoyed it a lot..small quaint space but very friendly crowd...waiter great helping us with dishes and wines..octopus dish was great as was the fresh anchovies over tomatoes and pork fat on toast..will visit on next visit when we have more time
Great place. Nice vibes for a low key get together with some friends and drinks. Extensive drink menu for all.
Great wine by the glass. You can also order some tapas. The atmosphere is intimate and is perfect for a date.
Great wine spot just near Union square - owner/manager enjoys taking care of his guests and will guide you to right selection.
Great place, cozy. Gets picked quickly because it's a bit small. Tasty wines!!!
A super cozy beautiful place , best spanish tapas bar in the city with the best wines , pan con tomate is a must 😋😋😋
Reminds me of Barcelona. Love the servers and the olives and the vermut + cava spritzes. Loud but good for a passionate fun time.
Excellent tapas in Gramercy...we love the location as much as the perfectly sliced iberico ham and creamy gazpacho
One of my fav places in the whole of the city !!
HUGE selection of wines, unique food. The bartender Darwin went over and above expectations.
Great bar with tasty small bites and a great wine selection.
Great wine selection; pan con tomate is unmissable
Tables are shared high tops with other patrons, but it still managed to be an intimate first date setting. Would recommend ordering about 5 tapas for two people. The calamares with radicchio was by far my favorite. Had churros with chocolate for dessert. The chocolate had some sort of hot pepper spice to it which was surprising and delicious. Very knowledgeable staff.
It’s where you go when you want tasty tapas and good Spanish wine but not so interested in conversation. It’s too noisy and crowded for that. Go there to start your evening but if you stay too long, you will feel them breathing down your neck — literally.
I seem to only visit this place as a spillover option when Casa Mono can't accommodate, but I should really go all the time. It's so intimate and cozy and friendly, especially leaning up against the bar. The staff are charming. The wine is good, and the range of seafood treats is excellent. Try the marinated calamari, the chorizo, the pan con tomate, or pretty much any ol' cheese.
Great vibes, solid vermouth selection and reasonably priced small plates. Bar is standing room only but you get to watch the folks behind the bar cook.
Closest place to Spain west of the Canary Islands. The great thing about Bar Jamon is that not only are the staff excellent, they actually know what they are talking about, and bring their passion for the food right to the table. If wisdom can be eaten, this is a place to start.
Always a great time with my family. Antonio is awesome and we love to see him when we visit
Such a great experience, especially thanks to Darwin!
I love this place. Great bocadillos and montados. Also, the selection of Spanish wines by coravin is fantastic, as is the option to get 3 and 5 ounce pours.
Excellent food and cozy atmosphere
Really dark wine and ham bar. Seating is community tables, so you will be sat VERY CLOSE to strangers, where they can hear your entire conversation, and vice versa. Seating is all stools, no proper seats. The food is amazing! Got the pan con tomate, the pulpo Morocco and the jamon Serrano: absolutely sublime!
One of the best wine bars in the city. This tiny space offers an impressive wine/sherry selection and the food here is top-notch. The staff are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Great to go if you want a snack and a glass of wine solo, or with a small group of friends in a night out. While the food selection is all small plates, there are so many items on offer that it is easy to have a full meal here.
Beautiful wine, and beautiful experience. The seating is high top communal, so if you don't want to be able to hug your neighbor, maybe this isn't the place for you. The small plates were very nice, particularly the pulpo. While the food was delicious, the portions were rather small for the prices charged.
Best restaurant and my favorite overall NYC! Vibe is so cozy with wooden interior, jamon quality was absolutely amazing. Please try foie gras! It was life changing. I have lived in Europe for several years and ate pretty much foie but I had best foie at Jamon Bar. Also the chef was so nice and friendly. It is a bit pricy since the food quality was great! Will definitely go back.
I'm doing a very big mistake telling you that this place is awesome! Because now, all of you would go there and I won't have a seat. We enjoyed great bottle of wine, delicious and percise tapas plates like Barcelona. The decor is tight with beautiful bar design and jamon slicing machines. Above all, the service is top class with the staff flying around the tables, taking care of each one of the guest. I would take my sister there when she'll be here I promise
We always meet with friends, very nice small tapas and variety of good vine.
Awesome. Relaxed, the staff are great and they know their wine. The Jamon and the food is great. We went on a lazy Sunday afternoon and it hit the spot and was perfect. The barman was passionate about the wine and the list and it was a fantastic experience. All good.
Excellent experience! It was very busy but after waiting a while at the bar with a bottle of rose the guy working there tipped us off when a seat was about to become available. Even though it seems chaotic he somehow quietly enforces some sort of queue. The atmosphere feels just like Spain.. bustling with people, great wine and tasty bites. We felt like having a rose wine but with little experience in Spanish rose we choose a safe Grenache. I guess they also thought we chose too conservatively and we were treated to a tasting of two of the others on offer, both of which were surprisingly unusual and complex. I'm already looking forward to coming back and getting a bottle of the Lopez de Heredia! We were well looked after, well fed and definitely well wined!
Bar Jamon is a great (tiny!) wine bar in Gramercy. They have a very diverse wine selection and the waiters are very helpful in their explanations. There are some good small plates to choose from as well. Con: They know how to make the most of every inch of space so you’re really crammed in their with other patrons. This, however, didn’t take away from the overall good time that we had. Pro: If you have a reservation at Casa Mono, they will take whatever wine you don’t finish over to your table there when it’s time. Definitely stop in for a drink before your meal!
Amazing wine and tapas bar. No frills high top shared seating with wine at the perfect temperature and larger than expected selection of delicious Catalan tapas. Highly recommend Tortilla Espanola and Pork Rillette. Rotating cheeses so ask what's best.
Our server made helpful suggestions based on our preferences. The service meets needs, and the food brings fresh, delicious tastes. Someone taught these employees perfectly. The dishes satisfy expectations, feature fresh ingredients, and show visual flair. I give this restaurant my highest endorsement.
You haven’t lived until you’ve had the ribeye tartar over a beautiful bottle of grapes from Mallorca. Great bites. Great vibes. Incredible service.
We dined on tapas at this cute little spot/ wine bar…we ordered the pan con tomato ( delicious, reminded me of my time in spain), jamon serrano, and the octopus- both also yummy! On this visit we did not get the wine but next time will! Highly recommend!
Spent an unforgettable evening here with good food & drinks under a warm romantic setting that encourages calmness and intimacy. This is a great spot for one of those first dates where you can strike a good lengthy conversation without being interrupted. The bartender knows exactly what you need if you take the time to explain, and is very friendly. Thanks for a great time!
Had marinated mussels, board of 6 different kinds of cheese 🧀, plate of jamon, and 5 glasses of white wine from Jerez. I was enjoying it, it was delicious and fun. And of course, the best churros 😋 for dessert I've ever tried. I didn't ask for my servers name, but she was super nice and very knowledgeable. I'm definitely coming back and bringing more people.
Great little spot! We sat at the wine bar. The ambiance was enjoyable, music is not too loud. The sommelier gave us great suggestions for wine. Some of the dishes were a miss (paella croqueta and pulpo a la plancha, namely) but we totally fell in love with the fluke crudo, creamy eggs, and bone marrow. Another thing to note, the food temperature was a bit inconsistent, and some dishes that needed to be hot, arrived lukewarm. Overall though, we had a very enjoyable dinner and would come back to try other dishes from the menu.
another fantastic night at Bar Jamon! I love that real elbow to elbow wine bar feel. It’s all very intimate and cozy and delicious. I always appreciate the wine and drink selection here and we had a really wonderful dry basque cider this evening. As alwaya the ceviche was super refreshing clean and tasty (I swear my pic does it no justice) and was the perfect complement to the savory filling octopus with chickpeas. Our server Antonio did an amazing job helping us pick a wine (we wanted medium body white and don’t know a ton about wine) and he helped us pick out the octopus and burratta which were both perfect. This is a great spot for a date or a casual hang - even though it can feel a bit crowded it is never loud. I think the closeness in the atmosphere is really nice and feels like a dof experience for nyc…of course DO NOT skip the churros. Can’t wait to be back again soon
Lovely joint with great wine and tapas. After dinner, walked past this place and decided to take a look. A little squeeze but we came late so not too bad! Ordered Spanish wines at decent price ends up drank 2 bottles of it. The Jamon iberico , pork coquette, tomato bread and other tapas. Great service and nice ambience to chill after a long day work.
A generous pouring keeps the patrons returning. Stopped by for a night cap post dinner. After a brief wait at the bar, we were seated outside. The brought our drinks that we ordered at the bar to our table. The wines were all excellent, you can’t go wrong with closing your eyes and selecting any of the glasses. And the pours were generous, much more so than many other restaurants. The wine tasting brought knowledgeable insight for the vineyard. The waiter was prompt, friendly, and humorous. The jamon on point. I’d like to come back and try all their other dishes because they did look delicious.
Fantastic service - the server was able to recommend a great wine with just a small amount of information, food was ok
Nice place with good wine and ham. Very unique setting. Not enough seating though.
Madrid, but Manhattan. Great wine selection
Great wine selection and tapas are great, but no hot food.
Good attempt at spanish tapas. What they had was good...more food variety needed.
my boyfriend took me here and it was a perfect evening! for a split second i felt like we were transported to spain, between the wine and tapas i was in heaven. the octopus was delicious and the manchego cheese paired so well with the wine. the spot is romantic, super small and lit with candles. two bottles and a couple of tapas later, we didn't have a worry in the world.
A very nice vintage styled bar. It brought me back to my time when I lived in Spain. The food was pretty good, the Tinto de Verano was ok. It had way to much ice and the decanter it came in didn't have that fancy gadget to block the ice from plopping into your glass. Meanwhile the couple next to us were granted that luxury. Maybe it was because I wasn't worthy.
Bar Jamon is an excellent alternative when you can't get a seat next door at the tapas restaurant. Small and cozy, Bar Jamon serves Spanish wine with light bites. We shared a plate of Iberico ham and got a small carafe of red wine. Great for catching up and equally romantic. Open late night. Always a buzz. Gramercy gem for grownups.
Cute Spanish wine bar, sister to their neighbor Casa Mono. This is more focused on light bites if you're not wanting to pay for the full meal of net door. Cheese plate and meats, for the win!
Stumbled upon this place on a date once when we were trying to get into Casa Mono (sister restaurant). We had planned to have a drink here until our table was ready but ended up just staying here because the wine selection was fantastic and food was really tasty. We ordered a few cheeses and jamon as well as the Spanish tortilla. All delicious. Bartenders very helpful with wine selection too. It’s a cute spot in union square area and fills up pretty quickly especially on the weekdays after work
Small cozy wine bar. There was a sign on the wall that said maximum capacity 35 people, that is definitely not a comfortable capacity. There was 26 people in the bar when we were there and it was a bit snug. They have good wines by the glass and some cold bites. We would definitely go back for a glass or two.
Great spot. Food is excellent. Fun atmosphere. Great wines.
Hard to believe this is a sister establishment to Casa Mono. We came here for dessert for the churros after dinner next door. It was $9 for two cold and unevenly soggy and crunchy sticks, although the chocolate sauce was fair. Service was also not very smooth unlike next door. We won't be coming back.
Casa mono bar jamon. I'm not impressed with the food here. I had high expectations due to the fact that the restaurant was 21 on NYT (New York Times) top 100. I had four different dishes and 1 intrigued me. Desert was also refreshing. Staff was nice. Could use more room.
I used to love this place so much. It still has the great vibe and a nice wine list, but the quality of the food has taken a serious dip, Dishes were just sloppy in their balance and presentation. Main elements were drowning in sauce and garnish. Obviously the passion is gone. And you are paying Gramercy prices.
It's the only establishment I have encountered that programmed the Toast payment handheld to suggest a service charges ("tip") on the Government sales tax. Up to now I didn't have to think twice when paying on a Toast handheld terminal, but then comes this unethical restaurant. Would be a 5 star review otherwise for food and wine quality plus service and ambiance. A shame.
It’s a nice chill wine bar to meet with friends or on a casual date. They have a list of Spanish wines. If you’re a fan of Spanish wine, come here. Service was decent. There wasn’t much to it other than a wine bar and some people who come in groups or couples on a date. Chill causal place.
Oh NYC, you're so overrated and overpriced. Very loud, dark, tapas restaurant with of course attitude from the staff. A couple long communal tables (don't like) a few seats at the bar and a few at the window. Fortunately, grabbed (literally)seats by the window. We had a few small uninspired plates - beet salad with pistachios, smoked trout and few cheeses.(see my terrible photos) It was OK...just. They have a nice wine selection but difficult to find a bottle under a $100 (see photo). Fly to Spain to see how it's done. Depending on the wine it may cost you the same. Dined, March 2023. That’s all for now.
Expensive, salty and above all, prices do not match the quality offered. Jamon Navidul is considered as one of the lowest quality hams in Spain, while here it's offered along with 5J
Atmosphere is good and the place nice, but the is far away from the taste of real Spanish tapas, especially in terms of prices and quantity. Probably it's hard to find a good Spanish tapas restaurant in NYC where quality is great and prices on average.
What a rip off. This is the other side of Casa Mono, Batali's tapas duo. Bar Jamon was actually recommended to me so imagine my disappointment when we were seated at the freezing cold window and constantly bumped by the server and other patrons because there's really only room for 10 people to be in here comfortably yet they have 20 seats. I hated the menu. I get that they have limited plates and it constantly changes because they break down a whole hog each week, which is admirable and interesting... but that's where my appreciation ended. A half glass of sherry was like $22. I've been to similar places with way better prices, way more imaginative cold plates, and better service. We got a charcuterie plate and a bruschetta type starter, lacking cheese but the serrano ham was quite good and two glasses of wine.... Bill was $90.
Service was terrible Waiter walked away from me while taking an order. Consequently, we waited 30 minutes for olives and burrato. When the waiter was approached in regards to walking away from the customer when placing an order, he said I can cancel the order if you would like. Food was ok. I will never go back to Bar Jamon again. I will be honest with you this was very disappointing because I was really excited to initially to try Bar Jamon.
Food and wine were good (albeit over priced) But service wasn’t good. Was a solo dinner and seated at an empty communal table right next to someone else who ended up being a party of 3. Asked to move to the other end but was told that was being “held” for potentially 6 people. 2 minutes later another solo diner is seated there. I ordered two food dishes, but one was forgotten and never received even though the order was repeated back to me. Then later wanted to get the churro dessert and was told it would take about 20/30 min because it was coming from the main restaurant. Ok fine thats alright but then I also asked for an espresso I had seen someone else order 30 min before me and I was told that they won’t do that now because they are busy and it comes from the main restaurant? Why can’t it come with the churro then? Seems silly for a tapas restaurant not to be able to accommodate a simple coffee. Overall service was not good and I was mainly ignored.
I genuinely don’t understand this dude’s problem. We went in for a bit because we’re Spanish and wanted to check it out. The food and drink was fine but their waiter or manager, I don’t know what he was, was extremely and unnecessarily rude. The place was essentially empty so it’s not like he was stressed and his general tone was extremely condescending and rude. And this is coming from someone who generally cuts waiters some slack cause I understand their job can be stressful. This also happened to a couple of friends of ours so it’s definitely not an isolated incident. Hopefully they can improve their service.
Closed when we turned up at 10pm even though online advertised open until Midnight. Went to the attached restaurant to ask for a booking for 3 people for drinks and a bite to eat and was told they couldn’t seat us as they only do drinks at their “Bar Jamón” which was closed tonight.
Incredibly average food, with some exceedingly salty extremes. Cold boring bread. No water. Neglectful service. Whatever
Got there and the guy that attended at the door and looked at me up and down and said it was close at 11pm
Manager was very rude and did not accept our group only because he thought we could be rowdy.
Insanely overpriced
I have been going to Bar Jamon for close to 13 years. I love this bar. The food. The service. The wines. I know every bartender there but sadly as of late, the professional and amazing bartenders have moved on with their lives. That has never deterred me from stopping by for a drink and a yummy nibble until last night. For years, after midnight mass on Greek Orthodox Easter, at St. John's, which is a few doors down from Bar Jamon, we have always and for years, gone to Bar Jamon for a drink/food and to keep our candles lit until we get home. That is the Greek ritual, keep the candles lit – it’s our biggest holiday of the year. We have never felt more insulted, berated and treated so badly there or anywhere else in NY. The porter and what we believed was the manager of the night. Long blond hair in a pony tail - cannot remember his name was OUTRAGEOUS & bigoted towards our religion and violently rude. We accepted that our candles could not be on the table, so he placed them on the bar and let burn out w/out saying a word to us. What's even worse he threw them outside!!!! We were stunned. He gave us no notice even though we were very clear of their importance. He didn't care!!! He told me so. Is this the new trend, Millennial's have no respect - when their job is show customer service excellence, esp. in such an established place that costs a fortune. The only one who showed us respect (especially towards the Greek custom) he was the young Spanish bartender. He was soo kind to us, clearly he had no authority but what a beautiful soul. The porter making the food was just as bad as the Blonde manager. We have never felt more insulted in our lives!!!! He disrespected our culture, religion and our gender. I will NEVER go back to this place unless Juan Pablo is working. He has respect and is one of the best bartenders in NYC. Juan Pablo has manners and class. Shame on Bar Jamon for hiring such insolent workers. Racists, sexists and bigots are DONE in our modern world. Perhaps, you should hire people who know how to treat other people in the food/bev business - especially FEMALES who's night was ruined because of this incidence. Absolutely disgusted! SHAME ON YOU!
The front server is incredibly rude and racist, being the only Asians in the restaurant we did not appreciate him taking everyone’s orders except ours in the restaurant, and proceeding to tell us to move our bags for new guests when we waited a long time for our own table to be wiped and order to be taken.
Terrible service! although, churros are great! I went with my parents to have some dinner, but the place was packed. Not a big deal, we just waited to get a few chairs. The real issue was the bartender/server (a guy with long hair) who was a total jerk! I had to ask a few times for a drink. After I asked for the drink on the third time, the bartender replied "Oh, so do you want it now?". Anyways, my parents thought that they didn't want to attend us so they preffered not ask for anything else, but I just sticked around and asked for 2 orders of churros (because I heard they were really good at this place. Indeed, churros are amazing!). Anyways, the bartender/waiter never offered water, or anything else to order. Even after we got the food, we were not given any utensils to eat, NOT even napkins! I had to go ask for napkins because our hands were full of sugar from the churros. On top of that, at the end, I asked for a regular coke and the guy gave me a diet coke... Terrible service. I liked the food, but I will never go back to that place because of the poor service.
We where kicked out my the supposed manager for being a couple more people that expected (11people vs 7) I hope the real manager of this place reads this. I am a restaurant owner and this is the kind of people that make you lose money. He will say we where “rowdy” but that is not true… I dont gain anything form this review. Please reach out if you want to have a call on what happened but that manager needs to check his staff
DO NOT COME HERE. Awful service and lousy food. A hole in the wall with a max of 12 people, and still had to flag the waiter down multiple times to try to order. He kept walking away prior to completing the order, like in mid sentence; meanwhile, the people next to us, who arrived after us, got their food, ate, and left, and we were STILL waiting for our glass of wine! Twenty minutes later, when we inquired about our food, the waiter responded, “Do you want me just to cancel your order?” We should have just left. Two cheap glasses of red wine, a very small plate of Ibérico ham, a handful of olives in flavorless oil, burrata and honey, and the bill came to $90–and we were still starving. So not worth it. I wish I could get my money back. Don’t waste your time.
Very nasty manager. The place was not full at all, since it was early. He wanted seats free for possible incoming customers, and made us move our coats. Problem was his manners and attitude. Before that he came several times to scold us for using the stools next to us when there was nobody there ; anywhere near. He was very intense and unnecessarily rude.
Extremely bad service, we went there at 10:30pm(they close at midnight), the waiter was extremely rude to us and saying it’s last call. We said we liked something like xxxx style, he just replied we are doing last call so you should just pick one or go. Then we left, extremely bad service, the waiter should get fired!!! DO NOT GO!!! I haven’t never been treated so bad like this on this planet!!! Guy seriously this place is a joke!!!
I recently had the unfortunate opportunity experience Casa Mono and it was an absolute nightmare. From the moment I walked in, everything went downhill. Firstly, the service was incredibly poor. The food was simply atrocious. The quality was severely lacking. The dishes were either overcooked, underseasoned, or just downright unappetizing. It felt as though the food had been sitting for hours before being served. The taste was bland, and the presentation was far from appealing. I have had better meals at Mc Donald’s….. Worst food experience in NYC, do NOT expend your money in this place
Apparently last call for food and drinks is at 10:15 even though their hours are listed until midnight
We ordered a bottle of wine and a cider. The cider tasted horrible and when I asked for a different drink (after taking only a sip) they told me they were still going to charge me for it. Fair enough but not indicative of great customer service.
Very nasty manager. He came several times to scold us for using the stools next to us when there was nobody there ; anywhere near. He was very intense and unnecessarily rude.
12/19/2025, 10:30 pm, a party of 6 came from Jersey and they told us that they were closed!!!! Will never come back, they suck!!
Worst restaurant I’ve been in Manhattan. As a Spaniard, is the worst Tortilla I’ve ever tried in my life, and the octopus is terrible too. Never coming back.
I was looking forward to trying this place given its attractive location near Irving Place. A very unpleasant hostess, who clearly was looking to go home, told me the bar was closed, despite being within their posted hours (and many tables present). I certainly won’t rush back, given a bad ambassador at the front of the house (see more reviews about impolite service).
Have been coming to Casa Mono and Bar Jamón for years as we live in the neighborhood. Today’s experience at Bar Jamón was a shame. Two empty tables outside, I asked if I could seat, one of the waiters said they are reserved although there were no sign on the table marking as reserved. Then he asked if we were going to eat and I said that we could have some tapas, and he said at least 3 if we wanted to have the table. Which was fine, I mention we just wanted to stay half an hour or so, so we were ok to order a couple of tapas. Then after 10 minutes no one comes to take our order and my friend goes inside and the same waiter tells her that we had to leave. He comes out and I told him we have agreed to half an hour, and he said they called me they are on the way… whoever “they” were, referring to the clients who supposedly reserved the table. When I mentioned I was from the neighborhood, then he backed out, and offer to stay. We left, no need to take this level of mistreatment from anyone. And by the way, we had the drink at the corner of Bar Jamón, and no one showed up for the supposed reservation. Very rude, condescending and unnecessary treatment. The picture one the empty tables 45 minutes later…
