Opinions de Buunni Coffee New York
I went for their restaurant week and the staff is so polite, the lady behind the counter even struck up a conversation with me. They have colorful outside seating and I love how air conditioned the inside is. I wish I took a picture of the dessert. I had the Watermelon Feta Salad and the Spiced Shakshuka. Salad 10/10. Shakshuka 3/10 I thought it was going to be more thicker with tomatoes it was more like a broth with a grainy texture? I want to come back to try the Fir Fir and some Ethiopian coffee
There is no better place to cozy up for the day to do my work from “home.” The staff is incredible, the vibes are on point, and the food and beverages are top tier.
Buunni is my favorite local coffee shop. The staff is always friendly, the drinks are consistently great, and the space itself is both spacious and cozy, with beautiful natural light, chill music, and reliable Wi-Fi—perfect for working or settling in with a good book. I also really appreciate the available restroom, which is such a useful amenity, and the teacher discount for our caffeine-driven selves. The book donation bin by the front is another thoughtful touch; I’ve donated books there in the past and have also found a few gems for myself. The pastries are delicious too, and they’re happy to warm them up if you’d like. Overall, I truly love this coffee shop and can’t recommend it enough.
Buunni is always such a wonderful experience. I buy the Addis Ababa blend to brew at home and any other coffee is just not the same. Their drinks in the store are always amazing too, but this winter seasonal Fort Tryon mocha is next level!! Charlie, Maribel, and the entire staff is wonderful and talented and so knowledgeable. If I ever have to move away from Inwood, I’ll be heartbroken to not have Buunni as my local coffee spot.
The staff is so warm and friendly. Very accomodating and open to suggestions. Chloe the manager is the best and makes everyone feel welcomed. A great community hot spot and place where local artists, singers and actors are given opportunities to display their talents! The coffee is pretty damn good too,
Usually I don’t buy prepackaged meals because I find it isn’t as good as something that’s freshly made, but a gomen injera wrap seemed interesting. I had them heat it up and it was truly delicious! And it was healthy. I felt full but not stuffed like with a flour wrap or bread. I loved it. One complaint I have that is outside of the cafe’s control is that there weren’t many people of color as there were when I went many years ago. This area has had a large Dominican population for decades which speaks highly to gentrification. Maybe Sunday afternoon isn’t the best time to go but I was disappointed with the atmosphere. This is true about both the locations.
I had such a wonderful experience at Bunni Coffee Inwood thanks to Maribel. She was incredibly polite, attentive, and welcoming from the moment I walked in. Her friendly attitude and professionalism made the visit feel extra special. It’s clear she truly cares about providing great service—my order was perfect, and she made sure everything was just right. Thank you, Maribel, for making my day a little brighter. Bunni Coffee is lucky to have you!
Great food, I had a wrap there that was really yummy. Great service & I got a coffee that was strong. The ambience was perfect for getting work done. They have a bunch of seats with outlets. I will be back for sure.
This is a my favorite place to escape to when I need a breather or a change of scenery from home. I lock in for work every time I come here 🫶🏽 I love coming to the monthly open mics too. It’s magical bonus points with all the events that they host supporting the community. I was born and raised here and I feeling the cafe puts me on to what’s going on today in my community which is nice because we don’t always know what’s going on in our neighborhoods. And it’s all and always good vibes 🫶🏽🥰
Great welcoming space with delicious coffee and gluten-free tasty treats. The monthly open mics always make my week better and there's lovely local art hanging. Coffee with entertainment and art, love it.
Good cafe, good sweet treats, 11/10 atmosphere, kindest souls I've met in a cafe. They host open mics, the plants and lighting are nice. Clean place, 5 stars.
I love this cafe! I've been there a lot over the years and the cozy vibes never disappoint. Great place to get work done or talk with a friend. I'm a big fan of the chai latte and Isham sandwich, though everything else I've tried has been yummy too!
Delicious coffee! I’ve never had a bad drink from here. Love the pastries as well! My son loves their hot chocolate! Buunni also regularly participates in my son’s school fundraiser. I love that they give back and help to create community.
I recently collaborated with Buunni by hosting an event for a community I created (Black Girls at Leisure). Maribel was very helpful, patient and kind during the process. We were able to offer a custom coffee tasting for a group of 8 of us. The drink and pastry pairings were something non of us could have selected if we tried! Such an amazing experience and I’m looking forward to going again!
Update: Buunni has more vegan options for pastries. I got the vegan carrot cake muffin and vegan croissant and they both were moist inside. They didn’t taste sweet which I liked. The prices for both were a good price and not over priced. I would definitely get this again when I want to indulge. This is a nice cozy coffee shop to do work, have a drink or food. They use to sell Ethiopian food and I will miss that. I love their vegan options for food and treats. Make they bring more vegan options to the menu. I love their chickpea salad. Nice and light and usually good portion. They have a nice tea selection and good matcha. It’s a vibe.
I won’t say they have the most creamy or smooth cappuccino BUT their coffee tasted great! Their own coffee beans have good quality. Would like to go back for black coffee next time! They also make their own pastries, so I got a scone, recommended by the staff.. it was delicious! 🍓When it comes to mixed-berry flavor, there’s usually no strawberry, but their version did☺️ It was solid but moist, really like the way they made it. In addition, I can tell they are super community engaged which is awesome! So happy to see this kind of cafe exists in neighborhoods!❤️🔥
Good chai lattes, a great place to get some work done, and good food! We enjoyed the spicy shaksuka, which had perfectly poached eggs. It wasn't that spicy despite the name, which made it a nice, light comfort dish. It was more on the soupy side, which I've seen done before that way, and worked well as a light dish as opposed to an entree. We got some chocolate mousse to go, which we're excited to try.
I come here every Sunday with my girlfriend. Who order the same thing every time, iced chai latte with whole milk. Today they put oat milk rather than whole milk and my girlfriend went to the barista (Spanish light skin) to notify them that the chai tasted different and sour from all the last times she’s ordered it. The barista responded well if you get this all the time then the taste should always be the same. I said it’s not the same and can you please fix it. Barista said well this is oat milk that’s why and I responded ok so you mind making it with whole milk as that is how I get every Sunday. She remade it and when I walked to the garbage she followed and said next time when you order be nicer or I won’t fix it and walked back behind the counter. That was such an upsetting comment as mistakes are bound to happen and wasn’t upset about it being made wrong just wanted it the right way. That barista needs a lot more training on customer service as that is no way to respond to customers that make it part their routine to come to this cafe and enjoy their Sunday. I will not bring coming back here thanks to the barista because now if something goes wrong again with my drink I won’t trust it’ll be made safely.
I want to love this place — it’s the only coffee shop big enough for me to work from. But every time I come here, it’s freezing. I’ve been here several times now and it’s always so cold that I have to stay bundled up just to get work done. I was on a Zoom meeting earlier and my coworkers kept asking if I was okay because of how many layers I had on.
My partner already took the time out to write his review. And now I have to take the time out of my day to write a review and it’s not a good one. I should only be taking the time out of my day to write good reviews to agree with the motto that the café goes by. Which is open arms and warm welcomes. However, that was not the case today. I go there almost every Sunday and order the same exact thing a chai iced latte with whole milk now today my chai latte was made wrong due to the way it tasted and I was not mad about it being wrongly made. I just requested that it be made again as I feel like as a customer I am entitled to request for something to be made. Especially it was not really touched so that I can enjoy what I paid for. After dealing with an enormous amount of attitude from the barista, I finally was able to sit down and enjoy my chaiice latte. After my partner and I were finished with our drinks, we then walked out, and as we were walking out, the barista took it upon herself to go all the way to the front of the counter when she was in the back to shout out ma’am multiple times until I finally turned around and realized she was talking to me, and when I gave her eye contact, she then went ahead and responded. I will never be serving you again when you come here. So of course I gave her the same kind of behavior. She gave to me making it now a disruptive café since she decided to still say things as we were leaving. I repeatedly kept telling her that it’s not how you treat your customers and that I am not sure why you are still bothering me when the situation of my chai latte being made incorrectly was fixed. This barista seems to be on multiple Google reviews for the tardiness and poor customer service. And nothing needs to be made up as the cameras will show how she rushed to the front of the counter to make sure she told us something before leaving. I also took a video and started recording as she now tried to insult the clothing that my partner was wearing, which had nothing to do with wanting a drink remade. I then said a manager needs to be here to defuse the situation as it was not getting anywhere and she started flaunting that she was close friends with the owner and will call the owner herself, so I then told her to please call the owner because I no longer feel comfortable speaking to you. After a long line of customers now waiting, I find just decided to order something else and she walked off to the back telling the other bar so that she had to make the drink because she was no longer making drinks for me. leaving a long line behind. this was a café. I enjoy going to on my days off and made it part of my routine. However, I will never let a café like that. Take any of my money to be treated that way..
