This place is great!!! The staff were super friendly and very accommodating. I ordered the oxtail quesadilla ( they come with French fries). Now this platter was very interesting. It wasn't smothered with cheese it was evenly portioned, the oxtail was good and tasty 😋. Now the fores was the show stopper... they put this sauce on it called the bang, bang sauce!!!!! OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! ( I had it on the quesadilla too). I also ordered their sweet chili wings, those were good as well and cooked all the way through, no pink or red inside the chicken. Next on the menu was the curry chicken, fried rice with veggies, collard greens and plantains. The plantains were plump and sweet. They weren't dried out. This plate I would recommend. The other plate was the rasta pasta with sweet chili wings I didn't take a picture of it but it was good and the rasta pasta was creamy not watery. Lastly, they have to go drinks 🍸 😁!! The rum punch was punching!! And the best part... it was $7 😯😯!!! They also had margaritas and lemon drop, but once there is rum punch on the menu, there is no other option for me. I would definitely be returning customer.. Oh I forgot to mention their bathroom is so clean and smelled good not to mention, they had condiments for refreshing for women and men in there!!! I was pleasantly surprised!!
Great Food, Will Be Returning! I finally made it to Dack’s Cuisine and was not disappointed! I ordered the fried shrimp meal with candied yams and their famous Dack’s Mac. The mac was my favorite—flavorful, cheesy, and perfectly blended. The yams were drizzled with marshmallow, adding a nice touch of sweetness, and the shrimp goes well with the orange sauce. I originally wanted the Dack’s Oxtail Mac, but unfortunately, oxtails were off the menu that day. The bartender wasn’t there, so the only drink available was the rum punch, but it was tasty. Overall, I enjoyed the food and will definitely be returning! I just wish the music selection was livelier to match the vibe.
I’m glad I found this spot. Their food is so unique but delicious! Their regular menu has some good options but I requested food from their “secret” menu from items I saw on Instagram- their Oxtail supreme crunch wrap with a side of the infamous Dacks Mac and cheese. And the oxtail crunch wrap looked beautiful and tasted just as well. Their rum punch was also tasty. A good spot for a chill date spot or a night out with the girls
Saw this spot on TikTok and had to check it out. We had the oxtail overload and the seafood overload😊both were very good. The seafood overload had fried Lobster tail, shrimp and snow crab legs with creamy mac & cheese. The Sauce drizzled on top was delicious10/10 😋 the oxtail overload came with oxtail fried rice & oxtail tacos was definitely worth the wait. 9/10 definitely would recommend and be back.
I’ve had Dacks before but this time I’ve tried the oxtail and it was tender and really good.
This place was great (5 * is impossible with me), cozy dinning area with a take out section next door. Tv, music, fun ambiance. The fried chicken or oxtail nachos are to kill for. Margaritas were on point. Lamb chops tender and flavorful. Fried catfish was good as well.
The food on their Instagram looks so delicious so I had to try it. I had the oxtail tacos with French fries. Overall the food was great and what I expected. The only thing I wasn't expecting was how messy the tacos would be. It had a sauce that was drizzled all over the inside and outside so be mindful of that. I could've definitely done without the sauce but overall the food was still very delicious. I will be back to try some other items.
Supporting a black owned business feels even better when the experience is a good one! It was very busy and the establishment is small, so service was a little slow… however staff was apologetic and communicated well. Rum punch was really good, not too strong, very balanced, and flavorful. Shrimp tacos (hands down) were the best! Jerk Salmon was okay, jerk sauce was good with some spice but the salmon was a little dry. Dacks Mac was MACCCCING! So good. I look forward to trying other items on the menu.
My expectations were very high after seeing the videos on instagram, we got there too late to dine in, so we ordered to go. The atmosphere in the to go was as to be expected for NYC, the service was okay, nothing too bad and the food was okay, it was my first time here so I can’t speak on how it was before but I think it tasted okay, I would go again. I got the coconut shrimp and macaroni and cheese.
I saw them on Instagram and the food looks so delicious I had been wanting to go for a really long time initially upon walking in I was not impressed by the aesthetic but I was there for the food so I checked those thoughts and proceeded to order it was my intention on ordering several of the things that I had seen on Instagram I started with the shrimp nachos and my friend ordered the oxtail tacos. I have to say that everything was well seasoned but they put a sweet sauce on the two things we ordered. I have consistently said this in every review I hate sweet food. After the appetizers I was so disappointed. The saving Grace was that they had a great playlist which at some point someone turned off and put some kind of instrumentals on that sealed the deal and I was ready to get out of there. My friend wants to give them another chance after they get their drinks situation settled. But I would definitely need to see if there's an option to not have the sweet sauce put on it before I eat there again..
Donna, your business is doing well. Scale up the space, add staff, and begin to prioritize customer service! You don't need to have customers saying the food is good, but the wait time is...atrocious. You're a savvy businesswoman. Get a bigger space. Hire more staff. Begin to provide quality service, not just good food. Your business can survive on the quality of the product you offer, but if competition were to arise offering similarly quality dishes and excellent customer service, your business would take a hit. Why risk that? Also, I don't know how much you prioritize your employees' health and well being, but I just witnessed your workers being very stressed as the two servers did their best to address the small hungry crowd gathered in the tight confines of the front of the restaurant--fielding complaints of excessively long wait times. One man said he'd waited 1.5 hours. He canceled a portion of his order. I saw the receipt. He had canceled over $70 worth of food. It was his first time at Dacks. Is this what you want, Donna? The bitter taste of regret in your customers' mouths instead of the savory deliciousness of your oxtails? You've got a good product. Improve on it. Begin to prioritize excellent customer service. Begin to value your customers' time.
Dacks use to be my place but now the quality of the food/portions and love made with the food has all gone down. Service is slow. Messed up my order multiple times. At this point they won’t see me again. I wanted fried chicken/ shrimp and Rasta pasta/mac and cheese. I got 3 boneless chicken and 6 shrimp.
this was honestly the worst experience i had here the chicken wings were extremely salty. the pasta was like soup and the chicken in the past was so dry you would think because the pasta was so soupy the chicken would be moist ...not at all. i've been here plenty of times and not only can i see but i can taste the decline in the quality of the food. what a shame
I Litterally had to change my 5 Star Review into a 1 Star Review Dacks Was Good at 1 Point I don't know what Happened But there Food is Not Seasoned as before and this is the 2nd time they messed up my order I Won't Be Ordering From Here for a While I remember the lines use to be long now it's empty whrn i go that Explains Alot I Had Order My Daughters Rasta Pasta With Garlic Shirmp and Broccoli and they Sold Me Fettuccine Pasta With Jerk Shirmp
Terrible food. Decided to try this place out after seeing it on a social media platform. Got there a little after 12 pm. The rice, mac and cheese was not ready. I decided to order oxtail and plantains. As you can see, they gave me a plate full of oxtail fat. No meat on the oxtail. My wife was very disappointed. I do not recommend.
My visit to Dacks was nothing short of a disaster. We drove all the way from Brooklyn to the Bronx expecting a memorable meal—and we got one, but for all the wrong reasons. The oxtail was scorched beyond hope, leaving a burnt taste that overpowered everything, and the mac and cheese? Don’t let the presentation fool you—it was clearly Kraft straight out of the box with a nasty aftertaste that lingered longer than the wait for the food. And speaking of service, the server practically tossed the plate on the table like they were fed up with me for showing up. They did waive the bill, but honestly, the highlight of the night was spotting a Popeyes across the street. At least there, we got food that didn’t offend our taste buds. Safe to say, we won’t be back. Trash food, trash service—catch the full review on TikTok soon
I saw this restaurant on Tik Tok and was really impressed by the reactions. However my boyfriend saw the reviews and was very skeptical. I said everyone has different standards let’s still try. Unfortunately, the reviews were correct. • The presentation of the yams were not the same as the picture I saw. My Rating -8/10 His Rating- 4/10 • The Mac and cheese had a weird after taste that I cannot describe and the appearance wasn’t appealing either. My Rating -2/10 His Rating- 1.5/10 • Fried chicken had nothing special about it. It was crispy and flaky. My Rating -8/10 His Rating- 5/10 • I got the Rasta pasta with jerk salmon. It was not flavorful. It was very creamy. The salmon itself was not seasoned and the jerk sauce was disgusting and a bit sweet. So it seeped onto the pasta giving the past a weird taste as well. However, the pasta did have a kick to it though. My Rating -1/10 His Rating- 1/10 • My boyfriend got the salmon Rasta pasta with shrimp. For whatever reason they fried both the salmon and the shrimp. It became soggy due to it being fried. He expected grilled shrimp/ salmon. He also said it wasn’t flavorful for the reasons I described in mine. My Rating -1/10 His Rating- 1/10 We’re from Jersey and he traveled to the Bronx for this on 7/5/24. When the server was asked her opinion between two different foods her response was “it’s all good.” That’s horrible customer service. Having worked in food previously I always gave my honest opinion. (I.e. i haven’t tried it, I don’t like this however I see a lot of people raving about this). She didn’t seem to care. Granted she was the only one person serving, taking orders , and answering the phone. He said there was one other person in the back cooking as well. He waited 15 mins for my order to be taken and an hour for it to be ready/packaged. For the chicken, yams, Mac & cheese, salmon rasta pasta, salmon w/shrimp rasta pasta costs $100 Overall opinion: horrible service, Over hyped , WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY OVER PRICED, NEVER COMING AGAIN AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND
I wasn’t going to write a review, but when I first went to the restaurant the lady said my order would take 30 minutes which I pretty much thought it was a long time because it was only two customers. It literally took a hour and 15 minutes, so I was already not in the best mood. This doesn’t have anything to do with my opinion on how the food taste I just wanted to give my opinion on this restaurant ,,it’s opposite of what I see on Instagram I was totally disappointed in the food. The macaroni and cheese was watery and I ordered oxtail with Doritos and they put the food in a silver to go container, which melted the Doritos, which were pretty soft. I rate the macaroni and cheese a 3 and I rate the Dorito oxtail a 3 I’m sorry I will not go back to the restaurant again this is just my opinion on it. I hope who ever goes have a better service than I did.
Firstly I need an established price list. I saw a video of this place on social media and upon arriving I was already disappointed. No menu displayed, no prices. The lady taking the order seemed to be annoyed when we asked questions. Went twice; the first time the oxtail was tasty, shrimp was okay, everything else was okay. The second time the food wasn’t good at all. Very inconsistent and the food was expensive, presentation was good.
