Opinions de Empire Szechuan New York
Overall a neighborhood eatery that I visit for take out when I am in the area. Large selection of dishes. I love their sauteed string beans and their vegetable fried rice.
The lunch menu was inexpensive and very tasty. The preparation of the dishes exemplified the best of Chinese crusine.
Loved the food, fried rice and lo mein. The beef was high grade quality. Would highly recommend the place.
Epitome of what we want in a Chinese restaurant. Dumplings pretty darn close to perfect. Ultimate secret is the roast pork bun. Last place you can get one now on the uws since Ollie’s stopped making them. Yum!
My family has been coming to Empire Szechuan for over 20 years now and it has never failed to impress. The food is delicious and the staff is no-nonsense. We feel perfectly comfortable and like family when dining here. Food is clean and healthy, and the menu is VERY expansive. I would recommend Empire Szechuan for any type of dining with a relaxed ambience. Enjoy!:)
Service was what you come to expect from a New York restaurant. No chit chat just what do you want and then the food is slid on the table. On the flip side even though portions were small it was the best Chinese food I have eaten in many years.
Me and my friends meet up to eat here. It’s cheap for the upper west side and food comes fast. The people could be a little nicer, besides one waitress, you feel a bit like a burden for being there. Nonetheless, great place.
Dishes here are very inexpensive (around $9 a plate), when you consider the quality of the food (very delicious), the portion sizes (deceptively filling), the speed of the service (food typically arrives within 15 minutes), the variety of cuisines available on the menu, the somewhat upscale feel of the restaurant, and the location in the Upper West Side. Love coming here after going to the movies a block or so away at Broadway and 68th. Highly recommend.
They have great and nice family friendly environment. They have nice customer service. That is basically the waitress that attended us and the waitor too. They have select of items to pick of and in addition they have a good range on vegetarian food. The rest of the statt are also nice. I would really recommend this place to everyone.
I like the fact that the waiter always tries to his best to serve you and what you need. The food here is amazing (especially the chicken teriyaki!). The pricing is pretty good considering it is located in Manhattan. All in All, great place for asian food@
For what must be coming up on 20 years, my family and I, neighborhood residents and Lincoln Center and ABC television employees, have relied on Empire for a delivery at least once per month. I suppose if you looked at our data, scallion pancakes would be number one followed by cold sesame noodles with hot garlic sauce, and a special that is no longer on their printed menus but will be made upon request, the Purple Moon, which are delicious little patties of ground shrimp and scallop placed on a sliced Chinese eggplant disc. Fantastic!
It's a neighborhood spot. The decor is stripped down, but the atmosphere is great because the customers live in the neighborhood, it isn't a tourist spot. There are many vegetarian choices, many with mock beef/chicken/pork/seafood. Our crispy orange mock-beef was excellent and our vegetable fried rice was done with a light touch and fresh vegetables, a lovely execution. Service is efficient rather than friendly. The efficiency is much appreciated.
I’ve been going to Empire Szechuan for more than ten years. It is my go-to affordable restaurant in the Lincoln Center area. It’s not fancy or pretentious. I have never had a bad meal there and they have amazing vegan and vegetarian options. I really can’t stand the haters here on Google. Don’t let them deter you from paying a visit!
I go to get take-out. They seem to be dealing with inflation by keeping the prices the same, but making the portions slightly smaller, so what once would be two meals' worth is now about 1 1/2 meals (or one very large meal). Still very good food. Only other change I've noticed (and they mention this on the menu) is that the cold sesame noodles, which used to have all the heat in the peppers chopped and placed on top, now also use a spicy sauce. Still very good, and not extremely spicy, but something to know before ordering.
Excellent restaurant with wonderfully cooked authentic Chinese food. The staff is extremely kind and hard working. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants great traditional Chinese food!
Very good first impression. Tried the chicken with red peppers tonight. Lots of food, cooked correctly, and it was tasty. I asked if they had mustard sauce that wasn't in a packet, too, and they did - it's the good stuff. Will order from again.
This place is hands down amazing!! Lots of Vegetables and Vegetarian options They are so nice!! A full female staff!! And run a wonderful clean place!! We order the Veg Beef n Broccoli Spicy!!! And MooShoo!! They sent me home with my favorite sesame noodles as a Gift!! LOVE EM
Food is always amazing and served fast. Portions are generous too.
I’ve lived on the UWS for 5+ years, and this is the best take-out Chinese food I’ve had. The sesame chicken is delicious, and they have a really good egg roll. Excited to try more, this will be my new go-to spot for Chinese!
Went here to fuel up after the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk in Central Park. The food was so good. I got a pork bun , and my friend and I each ordered a lunch combo with included soup. The meal was great and affordable, the service was great. The bathroom is downstairs so if you go, just be careful going down the steps. I got the Empire Beef with Sesame Seeds and my friends got Eggplant with pork added and rice. I also ordered an additional egg drop soup to go because it was so good!
I forgot how good these guys are! Correction, how AMAZING these guys are, I give them 4 on serving cause they are a bit slow but the food is cooked to perfection, the soup is clear, yet flavorful, the beef is carefully seasoned and tender, everything is fresh, you will not want to go anywhere else after you ate here, delivery is open until 1145pm , best of the best, and that beef tomato pic was a fantastic lunch, highly recommend!!
I am shocked at how low the ratings are here. I get that the restaurant looks very casual and feels a little bit like a hole in the wall, however, the food is service is great. They have a TON of veggies options. Each food item was clearly made very fresh and came out as quickly as possible . It was also piping hot which I love. Food: We got the scallion pancakes and they were really good. The sauce that it came with was perfect. The vegetable tempura was good, but if the veggies has been cut smaller it would have better. The tempura sauce was also really yummy. For entrees my husband got noddles and he loved them, said they were flavored exactly the way he would expect them to be. I got a tofu/mushroom mix and has asked them to make it spicy. It was on point and well flavored. Service: Service was quick. We had water immediately and our drinks came out fast too. They checked in on us often as well and the restaurant was fairly crowded as it was late at night and one of the few spots open in the area. Insta: @TheShahLALand
Best Sesame chicken hands down, nice portion and the ten ingredient fried rice taste like old school Chinese food. If you know, you know. 😊 The portions are not massive, but 2 can share. The prices are reasonable and the food is always hot and really flavorful. Service was good, too. The waiter made my dish spicy just the right amount of spiciness. Overall good choice and great location in UWS!
Always have a decent experience here despite the very high prices on the majority of menu items. Considering how dry the area is on Chinese food this is probably one of the better options post 60th Street but before the real UWS
We were the first to eat for the day in the restaurant. The staff didn't seem to pleased with our brunch arrival time. Pricing of meals are reasonable and pleasing to the pallet.
The food is great! But when at the end I went inside to find restroom, the lady said “no” 😳 then she asked me if I am a customer and where I sit and only after that let me in… I think it’s mean…
If you’re looking for classic Szechuan Chinese food done right, look no further. Cold noodles are the best in town, creaky chicken is another favorite. Avoid the more off the beaten path dishes
Great meal, friendly staff and well worth a visit. I'm just too greedy and couldn't finish all my dim sum because i ordered too much before hand.
what a local ,neighborhood Chinese restaurant is supposed to be . consistent ,delicious and well priced .Best brown/wild rice mix in town . Growing up it seemed like every neighborhood had this kind/type of family run Chinese restaurant ,sad to say most have closed over the years due to rent increases. hope they stay open another 30 years !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! chicken and shrimp with celery is my favorite dish
Good Chinese restaurant with a slightly different take on some of the classic dishes. Good place for a bite to eat between work and a movie/show/concert. The staffs' attitude is a little frosty, partially out of unwillingness to be bothered and partially out of efficiency.
Perfect place to grab a quick bite when on Columbus Ave in the Big Apple. Went here right after seeing the Wednesday night inflation of the Macy's parade balloons. We had three vegan 'dinner dictators' to contend with in our group...two of who were really thorny to deal with. The menu at E.S. was able to satisfy there arcane needs/requests. And the rest of us throughly enjoyed the meat & seafood dishes ordered. Great find.
Very fresh, delicious tasting Chinese Food with an excellent $8.95 lunch deal. I really enjoyed the chicken cashew dish, fried rice, and egg roll. Will definitely be back.
Steamed pork bun was very yummy. My friend got the pad Thai and said it was some of the best he ever had. I got General Tso chicken, which was pretty good, but the rice seemed old and dry
This restaurant is newly renovated. It still smells of new construction. When I first started to order food here, I had concerns about their professionalism, as they would not greet me when I would enter the restaurant and greet the staff. They were closed, briefly and have now reopened and attitudes are commensurately brighter.. Bring friends, family and anyone looking for quality Chinese...
You pay for what you get. Food is decent, but not great. Can’t beat those prices though!
I used to come here all the time and I started coming here less after they renovated, the food is pretty good as is the decoration but the employees always get my simple order wrong and they refuse that they made a mistake. Go at your own risk
Solid, fresh American Chinese food although the inside eating area quite dumpy and waitstaff not friendly. They have a cocktail called Empire Surprise and none of the three waitstaff had any idea what was in it! A drink named after your store and you can’t lust the ingredients….. My Mongolian Beef was a bit bland but my date’s entree, the Romeo & Juliet, was very flavorful and better of the two. Empire Szechuan good for this for take-out but nothing special to dine in.
Empire Szechuan is maybe the most "okay" restaurant I've had in the neighborhood. General Tseng's chicken was just "salty," no other dimensions or flavors to it. Rice was bland. Service was lukewarm and took a while even though I was one of only a few in the restaurant. I've been curious about this place because I walked by frequently and I'm trying to find a good Chinese/Japanese restaurant near home, but after tonight I'm still searching for it, and I'll probably dine at the dozens of fantastic other restaurants in Lincoln Square going forward.
Long-time upper west side favorite. Unbeatable prices. I had chicken with small bokchoi pieces. It tasted good. Service was efficient and unobtrusive as it should be, even in a city with excess Broadway talent. I have been here many times over the years. The fact that you can enjoy a sit-down lunch on the UWS and enjoy good food at a modest price should be reason to give it four stars. However, NYC and especially Flushing is blessed with so many excellent Chinese restaurants that serve food that is more sophisticated.
The ladies inside were pleasant and answered my food questions. I’ve ordered multiple times and tried different dishes. The food is a bit on the smaller side, used fresh ingredients, some good flavor. It’s a standard Chinese American place that satisfies your hunger.
Small, local place. Mostly take out. Decor is absent but staff is pleasant. I've had better, I've had worse. Great if in need of quick meal. If making movie, play or opera it fills the bill of eating fast. Overall, would not go out of my way.
Ok, this used to be my favorite place to eat Asian food in the city. Then we decided to order a delivery from them (spoiler: bad idea). First, they took forever to come even though they are 2 blocks away from our apartment. Second, we had a hinge in our Pad Thai, no joke. There sushi was still great which was why I still loved the place. Then, after they renovated they turned into just Chinese food. I think they were trying for a more contemporary look, which didn't work out. The service got worse because less and less people started to come because they didn't have sushi anymore. This place I would give a 2 1/2 stars if I could. I have mixed feelings about Empire Szechuan Kyoto.
OK. Food was decent but very very salty. Service is OK, but it feels tired like a lot of Chinese restaurants in NYC lately. Still, the lunch is a very good deal. Just cut down on the salt a bit please.
The service is fast, but it’s also clear they don’t want you to stay and linger. They brought my dish out, then I sat there for about 10 minutes waiting for my wife’s food while two different people kept saying “one minute.” If her dish wasn’t ready, why bring mine out first? By the time hers arrived, mine was cold. I sent it back just to be warmed up, which is not something you should have to do at a sit down restaurant. Overall it felt disorganized. The food itself was pretty basic. They do have a big menu, so maybe other dishes are better, but what we had didn’t stand out. Come here if you really crave Chinese food and want it quickly, but don’t expect anything special.
Overpriced, bland and skimpy portions. There has to be better options on the UWS. I have tried this place two times and all I can say is never again.
Mixed views about this place. It was relatively busy when we stopped in for lunch and were promptly seated. The waitresses were impatient bordering on rude, but nothing too out of the ordinary. One older lady did seem to speak as badly as she could to certain diners. Service was decent, if a bit slow for stuff to come out. They have a large menu with a lot of variety, and have a good sized bar on the premises. However, the food was only ok and really didn’t take my breath away. Like another reviewer commented: I’ve had better, I’ve had worse. Prices were decent though, and the portions were generous. The range of dishes coming out of the kitchen also smelt very tasty. It’s not a bad place. It’s somewhere to stop for a quick lunch (they are very quick to hurry diners out, it seemed) or somewhere to shelter from the rain.
My 3rd time ordering out. 1st two times the food was very good. This time, the rice was very dark and greasy, as if it was refried a few times. The egg rolls were too greasy to eat. The shrimp lomein was the only thing edible. I was surprised. Guess I will stop eating Chinese again.
I've been going here for years but now I'm going to stop. Recently they've raised prices and the quantity of filler (broccoli, vegetables, pineapple, etc.) in the entrees is getting out of control. In an order of beef and broccoli I had 8 huge stocks of broccoli and 3 very small pieces of beef. The pork buns were really good and now are completely unrecognizable. They were in pieces, torn open, they looked like someone had picked through them with their fingers. They were still very willing to box it up and sell it to me, and when I commented on the very different appearance, the response I was met with was "then don't order it. We can't be expected to check the quality of everything" The service has always been bad but the food was worth it. Not anymore.
Get what’s you pay for. $12 lunch special had zero flavor and chicken was soggy.
To be honest this was the most disappointing Chinese takeout I’ve had. I ordered a standard chicken and broccoli lunch special, for a little over $12. The broccoli could have been cooked a little longer and didn’t absorb any sauce or flavor. You can tell just from looking at my photo. The sauce didn’t taste like the classic flavor I expect, which meant the chicken didn’t either. The fried rice, as you can see in the other picture, seemed… old. The peas are discolored, it didn’t have the fresh wok flavor, the taste was unusual. I don’t know, I was just sad eating this food. The people seem nice enough though.
Food was inedible. The noodles were SO bland. The vegetable dumplings had an awful filling. The egg drop soup was ok but too thick/gloppy.
Ordered two sweet-and-sour chickens at 11:30 to pick up 30 minutes later, when I showed up the restaurant is closed early. But they start blowing up my phone at 130 the next afternoon. And no, I didn’t set the order for the following day…delivery.com says tough luck, Emp Szechuan says tough luck, I’m out 30 bucks. I’m done with both.
I ordered wanton soup. Lo mein . and fried dumplings. My dumplims where dough like and my Lo mein had hard noodle. Very uneven cooked. They told me I was crazy and just because I didn't like it doesn't mean it needs to be replaced. I told them i wanted a refund after that rude commentary and they refused. Not only that but it was very oily . more than other Chinese places. I had a terrible experience.
The portion size of the dishes are too small
Me and my boyfriend went here. For one they rushed everything , they kept starring at us which was uncomfortable and the tables were so close its so tight. No atmosphere at all. They were kinda rude and we were nothing but polite. NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN THE FOOD SMELLS LIKE ACTUAL FEET YUCK
I have never had such aggression shown in a restaurant over a simple question! In fact, never had such aggression felt like this, in any restaurant, I have ever been in! I went in to eat for a second time. I asked if they had a charger as phone battery was low. First waitress said no. I asked are you sure? Her response was to walk away and take the menu with her! I repsonded am looking to eat, why take the menu away. Since i had charged my phone once before there, i asked a second person. A waiter called 'Gary,' guess this was not his real name. However he was 'off the charts with aggression'. Responses like, ' this is restaurant not a mobile charge place'. He continued the attack. All over a simple question! I would never recommend anyone eating here. As if this is their attitude to a customer for asking a simple question . God knows their response if something goes wrong with food. I left without eating, after being effectively 'bullied ' out of the restaurant for asking if they could charge my phone while i ate! Who know's what they would do to the food if I stayed. Plenty of places to choose in NYC to eat. Make this not one ot them.
Probably the worst Chinese we've had. Dim Sum starters were like rubber and tasteless and orange beef dish had really chewy beef. Didn't help that Chinese man behind counter kept snorting flegm. Did wonder how they could offer so many dishes!
Should have listened to all the other (real) reviews. It was late and the place was the only one nearby and open. Prices were more expensive then listed online and they came an hour and half late, after we called asking about our order ( to which they said they had no clue) The guy arrived eventually and was legitimately arguing with me for his tip, right in the middle of the (nice) hotel lobby, holding my change hostage lol. He said "very busy" and "it's cold" while waving his arms. It's less then a 8 min walk (0.2 miles), and if it's cold just drive (what delivery service doesn't have a car). Tasted like liquid soap in sponge meat. $30 for not even suck it up quality chicken with WHITE rice (when I asked for fried)! Some other guy here hit the nail on the head with saying "worst service experience ever". I was laughing in amazement as this dude was yelling at me calling me cheap in front of other people. He gave me a dollar (out of the 4 he owed me) and walked out. If I wasn't so shocked at how rediculous this was and in the lobby, I'd have gone after him. Please, do yourself a favor, just order some half assed pizza instead, it's what I should've done, and if not then have exact change. Messed up our last night it nyc for valentine's weekend. Who the hell demands their tip lol!?
Probably the worst General Tso I've had in my life. Had zero sweetness to it and instead was soggy and tasted like oyster sauce. Horrible, had to throw it out.
The worst restaurant i’ve ever been!!!! Omg foods are very tasteless. Server and owner are no moral and no communication skills.
Absolutely disgusting food. Awful. Rude. Obnoxious! These people have yet to familiarise themselves with the very concept of service. All this and their menu is a bland mixture of gooey sauces and something that barely resembles food. Never going back.
Mediocre overpriced food. Staff was rude and gave the impression that we were an inconvenience. Unfortunately we wasted $100. Make the trip to Chinatown, so much better.
Been here a few times. You might like it if youre used to eating PRISON GRUEL ...anyway yes my last order of Kung Pow Chicken was DRY , HARD , NO FLAVOR , NO SAUCE, negative. Order two dishes of it. They told me to bring back the food for an exchange but i dont live on UWS so didn't bother. Some may think this is a harsh review but NO - just honest . The 2 dishes i ordered were not edible. And i DONT LIKE throwing out money or food. Could not eat it 😠😠 If the container is still in my refriggerator i may add photos , so you can all see the garbage they had the nerve to serve me for take out !! Unacceptable waste of money
Not going back after coming off/on for 7 years. They just remodeled recently; I don't know why, as they ignore their dine-in guests. They took out the sushi bar -- probably a very good thing. You're abandoned once seated. It's as if they begrudge diners as a distraction from their delivery business. We sat at 8:30pm on a Sunday. You have to stare at them to come take your order even if the menus are closed and you've been there 15 minutes. My water glass was NEVER refilled even when the food came -- after 20 minutes after ordering. There were 3 other tables. The "wait staff" were just milling about like zombies not interested in their customers. BASIC TABLE SERVICE: Keep the glasses filled when close to empty. We had to tell two people we wanted to leave when we were finished. Then they left the bill, I put down my card. After 5 minutes of it sitting there walked it over to the register where I still had to wait. By this time it was 9:45. This place is a hot mess.
Ordered the duck which is did on the menu as one of their "specials." Absolutely inedible. Just globs of rubbery duck skin in a mystery brown sauce. Also ordered the scallops in chili sauce which was just duck sauce with little red flavoring. Terrible... this is something somebody would expect for $10 at a to-go place only STAY AWAY
By far the worst experience I’ve ever had in any Chinese dining since I moved to New York. My friend and I decided to have lunch today, and ordered 2 separate dishes with soup. The soup was already a disappointment , never had such a weird hot and sour tasting soup. The other 2 dishes were both variations of chicken: here was the biggest disappointment: chicken had nothing resembling in taste to chicken, and the sauces were even worse. I should have either returned the dishes or leave. Instead, I decided to leave this review and we both decided never to return to this restaurant.
I have been ordering food from this place. We live nearby. I took my 5 year old son asked to use their restroom on quiet Saturday afternoon. The old lady on front desk doesn’t even bother to speak up, just shakes her head. They lost a customer for sure from now on. Hope more people stop ordering from them. Not a nice neighborhood friendly business.
Used to be a great restaurant before they renovated. Went there today for the first time since they re opened. Worst food! I’ve been nauseous since I left. The food tasted like there was dish soap in it, the chicken was mostly cartilage no meat. The waitress was rude and never took our drink orders. I was only able to eat the egg role which was so greasy it was dripping. This place went very downhill. I will not be returning to the restaurant and would NEVER recommend it to anyone.
The worst Szechuan food I've ever had. Didn't get what I ordered. Very little chicken in my chicken and broccoli, ordered it in white sauce but no.. Got brown sauce. Don't order the chicken teriyaki! You've been warned!
I live on 71 street and Columbus. I work on 1900 Broadway. Both my apt and my job are 5 blocks away from this restaurant. I really like their food and was eating there daily. Get this though…One day during lunch when I forgot my Credit Card at my office they made the delivery guy walk with me to my office and wait downstairs while I got my card from my floor. I have never been more offended in my life. I was eating there daily. That’s $200+/monthly they just lost. Out the window. Learn some friking customer service.
DO NOT! EAT HERE!. The Atmosphere is about as lively as an abandoned nursing home. The waitresses are all about 80 years old, and are very nasty. I had asked for hot sauce and duck sauce, and she became very rude. Mocking my request with her peers. She then served me the duck sauce, Demanding if i had any other request. Not to mention they gave me soy sauce instead, and i had to correct them. Its very awkward and the tables are built for kindergardners with absolutely no elbow room. If you are at least 5 feet tall dont bother. I do not write reviews normally, but thid atrocity of a restaurant compelled me to.
Terrible. Broth tasted like water in seafood noodle soup. Scallion pancake used to be great, crisp, flavorful. Not any more. Don’t order from here.
Nothing the same but the unfriendly cashier. Use to be good nice atmosphere when it was on Broadway 96st. It was really bad beef sesame seed. Rice cold $12.00 still hungry. Tea is $2.00 Should have gone to Ollies.
I entered to taste their lunch special/ The sight of the 4 dour women that serve the place should had deterred me from sitting, but, unfortunately, I did. The waitress was horrid. For $7.50 they gave me an egg roll, 2 spoonfuls of fried rice and 2 spoonfuls of shredded pork with baby (actually, prematures) bok choys. The food was OK, run of the chinese mill. When I ask them if I could have the fried noodles they give in every chinese restaurant they said yes... as long as I paid an extra 0.75 cents. The bill came at a little over $8. I produced my VISA and they said that being less than $10 I had to pay cash. I asked where was the sign that said so. The lady cashier, without looking at me, hit the front of the cash register, and said "there!" A mini hand-written announcement, impossible to see when coming into the restaurant, announced the fact that credit cards are accepted only to pay bills over $10. The area is full of restaurants with good $7 to $10 lunch specials with satisfying tastes and adequate portions, and accepting credit cards. This one offers small portions of mediocre food and fried noodles for which you have to pay extra, and that is served by ladies with mediocre social skills, and does not accept credit cards. You go. I will not.
There’s a big rat running on the floor. My friend screamed and the staff said we were overreacting “Common. there’s also rats in the subway station. No big deal.” They should be shut down by law enforcement.
This is the first review that I ever wrote because I usually don’t. This was the most disgusting meal I had this year. I ordered duck soup and it was bone soup. Both my girlfriend and I cut our mouths open because of the spiky bones. We both have stomach problems for many hours after. I usually love Chinese food but this was not edible. Do not go here unless you want to punish yourself. So sad to have wasted a meal at this place… never again…
I ordered noodles and chicken yakitori, however, they should’ve called it chicken yuckytori on the menu. Let me tell you, it was bad. I hate writing reviews but I was just so disappointed and nauseous after only eating ONE bite. I lived in China I know what authentic and good Chinese food tastes like but this was as far as possibly imaginable from it. One time, big mistake, never again. Lesson learnt
I would give a zero star if I can. THE WORST Chinese food I ever had in my entire life. The dumplings skin are so thick - I think they can handle the criticism. The so-called "Chinese/Japanese" cuisine served here lacks any semblance of authenticity. It seems like they've taken a few generic ingredients and thrown them together, completely missing the mark on genuine flavors. The dishes were bland, tasteless, and left me questioning whether the chef had ever actually tasted authentic Chinese food.
This place is NOT good value. It may not be Shun Lee prices but it's on par. the price rating on google needs to change. But how is the food? Not great. As it was in my hood I ordered many times and still do sometimes when in town. But it's usually dry and over cooked. I order just to have some late night New York Chinese. Staff is also not the friendliest, but I only care about the food quality. You can do a LOT better in the UWS.
Just a few things here, I’m usually the type to let things slide but this experience bothered me. I came in with a friend and at first the service was very hospitable. However during most of the meal I realized we were being watched, as if they believed were up to no good it made the meal intense and uncomfortable . We were nothing but polite. Then after the meal we were practically rushed out the restaurant even though it was mostly empty and had the nerve to insist on a tip. The crispy duck was doughy and I’ll never go there again.
The man that brought the food was extremely rude to us. We order pork chops, the menu do not indicates it is breaded or that it has a gravy; when we ask about the gravy the man started yelling back at us. Never coming back.
My Teen sons asked if they could order food. They ordered food from here while I was not at home. My kids didn't tip the delivery guy so he refused to give them the food. When my Oldest son told him to cancel the order they didn't want it. The driver finally gave them the food. But then 15 minutes later I get a phone call from the restaurant while I'm NOT HOME complaining that my sons didn't tip the delivery guy and started harassing me about tipping the delivery guy. So, I advised them that we wouldn't order food from here again and I will leave this review.
Their General Tso's chicken is a grisly, bland pile of I don't care stop bothering me. Waitress told me it was how they always make it. I believe her.
I was walking with my friend who is 86 years old. She felt bad and took a seat at a chair on the empty terrace space to catch her breath. Three employees came to complain about her seating and one of them made a very rude comment.
Empire Szechuan was not good. The service was lacking. The waitress seemed as if she was in a rush and not friendly. The restaurant was crowded and when more people came the waitress told another person to move and that person didn’t even finish eating yet. I ordered hot and sour soup which did not taste like hot and sour soup. It was sour for sure but had a weird after taste. We also got the Szechuan pork with broccoli and general tso’s chicken which was salty and the flavor was not evenly distributed in both dishes. It came with a side of rice. I got fried rice which tasted like trash. Did not even taste like authentic fried rice. This is definitely not an actual Chinese restaurant geared for Chinese people. It’s worse than Chinese takeout. The price of the food was not worth it either. The last dish I got was a build the dish bowl. I added snow peas, fried tofu, Chinese broccoli, and eggplant. The sauce was disgusting on top. It was way too salty. $37+ for this? I could’ve gone to a buffet and eaten way better.
The worse food possible. Ordered General Tso's Chicken and was all excited to enjoy a good meal to my surprise I was sold garbage. The Chicken was barely existent. They coated the tiny piece of chicken with some white starch like rice then dipped it and fried it. Besides being bone dry it was all filler, surprise meat. I don't usually give bad reviews but how can the most common dish be so awful!!!!
