Opinions de Farook's Halal Cart New York
Probably the best Halal cart I've tried, including the Halal Guys cart before they got big. I'm not sure why this place hasn't gotten big. Not as good at marketing, I guess.
Never written a review but FAROOK IS THE GOATTT. True NYC experience. S tier food, even better service. Swear by this cart
I've been to a lot of halal places... but one is just different on so many different aspects. The level of customer service is truly impeccable, and the ingredients are distinctively fresh and tasty. A must-go if you pass by Manhattan
What a guy... and his amazing food. For 5 dollars you can get completely full!!!! I recommend getting the combo (chicken and lamb over rice) with extra white sauce and red sauce
The best Halal cart in NYC. I survived on Farook’s for all of my time at NYU and I still come whenever I’m in the area and need satisfying food. I’ve refused meals at traditional restaurants many times to go get some chicken over rice, with all the sauces (no bbq), and potatoes at Farook’s. One of only a handful of places I prayed would weather the pandemic, and he did. Lifelong loyalty, and glad the tourists think other carts are better so the wait is shorter for the locals. 👏🏻 Now I need to go get a plate, major craving.
Farook is a legend and his halal cart was one of the highlights of my time at NYU. If I'm in the city I sometimes make a point to go out of my way to get to 14th street just for a chicken and lamb over rice. Its been awhile since I've been but if he's still doing potatoes instead of the salad that most carts put in to cut some of the actual substance then this is for sure the GOAT halal cart. I wish Farook well and hope he knows what his presence means to a lot of us.
I am a very regular patron of Farook's and it has really gotten me through the dark times. Their delicious chicken over rice will hit a home run 1000% percent of the time, and the service is quick and accommodating. Best post 10 pm food of all time.
There’s not a whole lot that’s wrong with Farook’s tbh. I’ll pick him over Halal Guys or Adele any day of the week, given the price and wait time. However, I’m personally a fan of Santa Halal which is the cart next to Farook’s. But, that’s a personal preference. Farook is pretty great too.
Man, y'all better stand down; I'm the truth
Tasty cheap Halal Food that will fix your late night craving and if you like your food spicy ask for the red and green chili sauces. White sauce is good too, it's almost like ranch dressing. $ 5 for a box of Halal food and a can of soda/water by Trader Joe's Union Square. I think this a great buy.
Can't believe it has under a hundred reviews. The chicken and lamb meat was delicious tender AF.. AND the taste was so on point. If you want to try just one halal cart in NY, get this one. The sauce was just 👌👌👌. The best halal food cart here, really a hidden gem. This is where locals go to eat. This place makes halal guys look like a joke! They need to expand coz their quality is incredible! Btw I ordered a combination over rice and chicken kebab in bread. FYI, It's open on Sunday. Almost missed it coz of Google but I called and they were open.
Farook has the best tasting chicken. Better then the other three carts on the block. Tried them all over the years. 16+ carts so far. The other cart by Joe's down the block has a better rice but I only get one spoon rice anyways. I like the little bit of potatoes Farook's add on the side of each tray. I like eating the potatoes with the pita which he always add to the tray. Have some patience to wait for the food. I like that he puts juicy chicken on the grill to cook. Unlike some carts that has a ton of shredded chicken on the grill drying(dieing) out. Farook's chicken is juicy even without any sauces added. The chicken is in nice chunks and not shredded and full of flavor. Everyone so far I brought to Farook's said he is better then their regular Halal spot.
Best halal food cart around union square. The rice with lamb and chicken is great. Portion is quite filling too. If you're not into spicy food, ask for less of the hot sauce.
2 am and I'm starving in my hotel. This is the highest rated spot around and it slaps. There are 3-4 different Halal carts right next to one another so make sure it's this one. Lamb gyro was awesome and well seasoned.
Best halal cart on the block and my favorite in the city. The potatos on the side are a great addition. The night guy has fed me for like 8 years including one summer in college where I only ate street food, he is the best.
Amazing lamb over rice. Huge portion and a great price. And Farook is such a nice guy!
By far the best halal truck in New York. Amazing recipe, serving size, and experience. I am from out of state and this is by far one of the best tasting places I have been to even coming from DC which has tons of halal food!
If your Halal go-to isn't Farook, you're wrong. This guy adds a side of some potato dish AND crispy pita to your $5 meat-over-rice platter - in addition to the free soda (who pays for soda nowadays anyway?) The meat itself is unbelievable, and Farook cites the chicken as the healthiest option. Not only is his food gucci; Farook will take a phone call and start preparing your order before you show up. What kind of Halal Cart has customer service? You guessed it: Farook. I pity those who do not live near 14th & 3rd.
Order: chicken over rice Verdict: one of if not the best halal I've ever had. Super flavorful chicken and perfect amount of sauce. Wow.
From the happiest of days to the darkest of times, Farook has never failed to serve me a delicious plate of chicken over rice. When the dining hall was closed after I woke up from a 9 hour procrastination nap, Farook was there to serve me. Thank you for everything, Farook.
Best halal cart in NYC hands down - the meat went so so well with the sauces! Rice was also extremely flavourful and the portion is generous
My absolute favourite halal cart in NY! After visiting for the first, I couldn't resist going back again and again. Most delicious food, sauces, sides and great combos.
Great Indian/halal hybrid. Chicken over Rice very good. It was small but only $7 so idk Very nice/friendly guy.
$6.99 for chicken over rice plate with pita bread. Excellent food and big portions, I'll take this over halal guys any day of the week!!
S tier food/halal cart, would recommend any day. Also does a loyalty card, 1 free item after 10 items
Such good food for a great price! So reliable and really friendly
The nicest person to serve, was very appreciative of the tip. Great service and even better food.
Most delicious chicken and rice I've had, AND you get pita and a soda for $5.00! You can't go wrong with this cart. I wish I could give it 6 stars! Pro tip: the drinks aren't self-serve. He'll ask you which one you want once your food is ready.
Farook knows what’s up. This was so delicious and reasonably priced. Combo over rice hits right every time
The hot sauce is real hot sauce not tobasco.
Good food , fresh , tasty and economical
My colleague always gets mixed over rice platter from this cart all the time. There are so many Halal Carts around the area and if he chooses to go there specifically then there is definitely something good with the taste and price. I will try to get food from this cart next time around. The cart does have a loyalty card and after 10 platters you get the 11th one for free. I would highly recommend this cart if you are around the area.
There is a reason why this Halal food truck is highly rated compared to others in the area. Recommend to try the Chicken Over Rice. You must come and try for yourself to understand why it's a 5-stars. Probably top 3 halal food trucks in the neighborhoods in my opinion. It's DEFINITELY better than Halal Guys nearby when compare to overall quality and price. There's a food court where you can find plenty of seats, just about 30 steps away from the food truck, FYI.
Best cart around Union Square with the nicest owner!
This is one of the best halal carts in the city. Everyone who works at the cart (especially the gentleman in the baseball cap!) is incredibly kind and knows how to make fantastic halal. The pita is always toasted just right and the hot sauce is spicy. I would also say that, rain or shine, this place is always open - even in the dead of night. Quick, easy, reliable - and cheap!
Consistently my favorite halal cart in the area. Generous protein, flavorful rice, a few extra ingredients other carts don’t use, and the hot sauce always tastes so good. The chicken and lamb over rice are both very tasty. Highly recommend.
So I eat A LOT of halal trucks all around NYC and Farook is the best by a mile! It is always fresh, both servers are very nice and professional, and the chicken flavor is so much better than anyone else. Come here once a week and will continue to be a loyal customer!! Check it out
Wonderful halal cart! The food was flavorful, fresh, and crazy inexpensive. Agree with some other reviews, if the pita was a little crispy it would be 11/10. The white sauce and lamb are especially good. The lettuce was a little wilted, but for the price I can't complain. Skip the two-block-long line at Halal Guys and support a smaller place.
Ibrahim is extremely friendly and honest. He very kindly asked if I had any requests and made sure I was pleased. The food was amazing and I had I'll obviously come again. Combo was just $8 and also came with chopped pita and a loyalty card.
Had to find a new place to eat halal after a bad experience at the 2nd Ave halal guys. The food here was way better and cheaper. You can't go wrong with Farook's. Also he provides a a loyalty card that gets you a free meal after 10 purchases. If you like spicy I recommend the green sauce and red sauce.
The best halal cart I had during my time in NYC, whether chicken or lam over rice it hit every time without fail and the red sauce also the best I've had. Farook super awesome #1
Good quality, amazing flavor, and prices that were somehow not affected by inflation. Added plus: warm and friendly person to greet you. For now it’s an underrated cart but I’m expecting next time I come it’ll have blown up

I am glad Farook is back. He is one of my favorite cart in the city. He used to offer 5$ for a falafel ove rice, with pita bread, and a free drink. However, it's 6$ now for just the falafel over rice. I understand that it's become infinitely more difficult to do business, as a cart, in the pandemic and fully support the price increase. Delicious falafel over rice, served with a smile.
This place used to give $5 deals (_______ over rice (with potatoes) + drinks.) Now it's $6 only for the entree - the potatoes that come with it are gone and so is the drink. The quality hasn't changed however, and still tastes great. Edit: it's $7 now for an entree - inflation is hitting hard
Always been a fan of halal food carts since they are affordable and filling at the same time. This cart in particular offers a buy 10 get 1 free card/promotion their food is also consistent and well prepared in front of you as well, highly recommended this spot for the best bang for your buck
Very good halal. The combo over rice was delicious. The chopped pita and the loyalty cards are the best parts of this place. However I do wish the pita was a bit more grilled and I wish the salad had a bit more in it and maybe some more variety in vegetables. I know that’s not standard for halal cart but I do think that is what would make this a 10/10 for me instead of 9/10. Nonetheless though very delicious and I recommend trying if you’re in the area.

Not top tier halal, despite the rep. Portion is 30-40% less than your typical cart and the white sauce is kind of watery.
Really small amount of rice compare to others no much flavor sorry it realy plain just food coloring tricks you, but the price it's great no one beat that.
Hate when vendors take advantage of you. He flipped the screen so I couldn’t see the total price, turns out charged me $2 surcharge for using my phone to pay. Came here bc of the good reviews.. but I eat halal carts most days, and this quantity of meat isn’t more or better. Sharing my experience here so you have a heads up!

This food cart uses low grade meat (lamb is very spongy, etc) and only has the very base vegetables (lettuce) but not things like pickles, peppers, etc. I think the only reason this is graded so highly is because it is right outside of NYU and thus has students rating it and because of the price. It is fine for drunk food but is not quality food (which explains $4 with free soda pricing).
