Amazing food and experience. Got the option with filet and all steak was so flavorful. We had an issue with the pork belly and it ended up burning. We couldn’t even try it. Will be back but will try the location closer to us in Philly!

Fun spot for lunch or dinner with friends. High price point but you’re in midtown. What do you expect. Came here for lunch with a friend after a night out and was pleasantly surprised. Food is great quality. Servers are friendly and attentive. We started off with the miso soup, filet, hamari skirt steak, sirloin, garlic fried rice and garlic shrimp. Top three meats in my opinion are the hamari skirt steak, toro beef and the kalbi chuck rib. Everything was amazing. Sides like the spicy cucumber and the cabbage salad were nice to break up the richness of the meats.The grill was always hot which was nice on the 14 degree day. Id come back with more people to try more of the menu.

I LOVE this place. The meat is especially good and the service is fast. We did all-you-can-eat and the gyoza and all the cuts were pretty good. Normally I love spice marinade but the best ones were the non-spicy ones. The service is great as well! Whoever created stores post-dinner was honestly such a clever individual. Tasty marinated Japanese inspired BBQ meats. The lunch combo for $19.99 which includes 3 meats, soup, salad, and rice is an amazing deal for the portion size and quality protein. Their menu is extensive ( maybe too overbearing for some folks), but at least you know there’s multiple options for everyone. There’s an AYCE ( all you can eat) option available too for the big stomach folks. There’s chili crispy chicken wings were flavorful and super crunchy and tasty. Just be prepared to grill meats for the table since the surface area for grilling is small and some folks sitting at the end of the table can’t reach properly. The quality of the meats seemed very reasonable for the price point.

Yea, it’s really good but not amazingly tasty dishes with the sauces or on their own. Service is great, and the experience is fun. For the all you can eat, you’re not allowed to take away what you don’t finish.

All of the meat was incredibly fresh and well priced for NYC. Staff were very friendly and willing to take the time to explain the menu and your food choices. Service can be slow if the restaurant is a bit busy however so going near opening time is the most convenient.

We walked in for melon soda but they were out!!! We ordered the seasonal set menu (I think it was $130 for 2-3 people portion). I wouldn’t say the food quality was superb; but it’s entertaining to go through the dishes as there were just so many as a set menu. One thing to note is that when they mixed hot rice in a bowl/pot for us, I felt like I saw small pieces of the surface. I didn’t feel comfortable finishing it. Next time I go, I will not be ordering a set menu, but it’s fun to try it at least once if you are new.

One of the best AYCE BBQ spots in the city! The quality of the meat and the price you pay are both reasonable and definitely worth it. This was my third time at this location, and while the food was as good as always, the service was a bit slower this time. They were pretty busy, and I’m not sure if they were short staffed, but our wait for food was longer than usual around 15 minutes. Our server was friendly, though he seemed to forget our rice and signature sauces. We got them after we’d almost finished our first round, and only after asking. We also had to ask for water refills. Despite the slower service this time, the food was still delicious as always. I’d recommend visiting on a weekday if it’s your first time to avoid longer wait times.

​Having enjoyed Gyu-Kaku's interactive Japanese BBQ experience at other locations, we arrived at the 3rd Avenue spot with high expectations. A quick note for future diners: this location is on the second floor, and I didn't spot an elevator, so plan accordingly. Our visit started with a minor mix-up—I'd accidentally booked this location instead of our usual Midtown favorite. ​We arrived around 5 PM, and the restaurant wasn't overly crowded, so we were seated promptly. My initial impression wasn't the best regarding cleanliness. Our table felt slightly sticky, and there was visible dirt on the floor and window we were siting next to, suggesting the place could use a thorough upgrade and a bit more attention to tidiness. ​Despite this, we decided to stay, as the allure of Gyu-Kaku's interactive dining experience is strong. For first-timers, navigating the menu can be a bit of a learning curve. It's tiered, with each tier offering a different selection of meats and other dishes. As a party of three, and with everyone quite hungry, we ambitiously opted for the "for 4 people" set menu. Let me tell you, they were not kidding about the portions! It was an absolute mountain of food, easily enough for six people. We ended up cooking everything and happily took a significant amount of leftovers home. ​On the beverage front, I tried their Lychee Mojito (if I recall the name correctly), and it was genuinely delicious – a refreshing complement to the rich food. All the food was super fresh and delicious. My two teens loved grilling their own food. The staff gives instructions on how long to grill each piece of meat for. ​While we are big fans of the Gyu-Kaku concept and will definitely be returning to the chain, this specific location likely won't be our first choice next time.

This establishment is located on the 2nd floor, up a flight of stairs. I am not sure if there is an elevator. The place was full and busy when we arrived for a 7:30pm reservation on a Saturday night, with instructions to arrive 15 mins early. So we did. Our table was not ready, so we were encouraged to order drinks at bar for happy hour deals. We were seated 10 or so minutes later. Seems a lot of instruction and preparation to figure out the best deal as there are different tiers (and different pricing based on the tiers) to ordering and items that can be ordered. That and having to cook your own meats and veggies seems daunting, but luckily we had a participant who seemed to get the system because otherwise I am not sure how this would have gone. Garlic fried rice was fantastic and all the meats were good and fresh. It is a fun and vibrant place and all we ate was great, but still seems a bit more complicated and confusing than it needs to be. Only knew of the one 1 person restroom, but there may be additional ones. The service was very good. We walked here, so only on street parking that I know of.

The Japanese bbq is good here with a variety of selections. It is a chain but the quality is good, with all kinds of beef cut and meat. The combo for two people is big quantity. I also had lunch special here, $20 per person for 3 kinds of meat with rice, salad and miso soup, very good deal.

This location is the first location this chain restaurant opened in Manhattan a couple of decades ago. It is just a fun place to BBQ yummy Japanese marinated meats and enjoy other delicious dishes like garlic noodles, fried chicken, chicken wings, calamari, etc. The happy hour is a good deal especially on the beer and cocktails. While I still enjoy the second floor view and decor, the restaurant needs a face lift (pretty old) and service is not as friendly or upbeat like the old days.

We traveled 2 hours to get to this location, because we wanted to treat a family friend to the AYCE experience at Gyu-Kaku. We love the brand and generally have never had a bad experience (across 5 states and nearly ten locations)... and then we met this location... and our server Jose. I can't even call him a server because I have seen Santa Claus in my living room more often than we saw our server. He refused to take our complete order, and insisted on coming back... then never came back to allow us to order more... 25% of our order never came... the only time I saw him was in the bathroom.. where he left without washing his hands.. then he had the gall to stop by and let us know he forgot to offer us last call... and that 50% of the ultimate desserts were not safe to order due to their age in the freezer... no offer of a substitution or a credit... just a terrible experience... and almost no mint in my mojito.... totally our worst gyu kaku experience. Will never return. Back to the Time's Square Location, hands down. Truly disgusted.

This is my third time going to one of these locations but this specific location is easily the worst. From the get go, our waiter felt like he had an attitude with us. Mind you it was my partners birthday so this was not the experience we wanted. The waiter gave us no instructions on how to cook our food. We called him over to order more food then he tells us that it is ALMOST last call. We called him over one last time to order more food and he stated that he already came for last call but he never actually did. We could also see him go talk about us to his coworker, practically in front of us. The manager had to come to our table and confront him with us which was very uncomfortable. Moreover he took absolutely no responsibility at all and got very defensive when we expressed our issues. Thereafter we received a new server but the damage was done. Food was above average, however the restaurant was very cold. Would rather go back to their other location in Astor place.

This is has been my favorite restaurant for years I love the food I used to love the service.. but it looks they have a new manager lady that walks around the restaurant and told you when you need to finish your meal pay and show you the way to door out hahah..
