A great corner diner for the many tourists that visit Washington Heights. Once you walk in you are greeted by a waiter and by the pictures and the look of the whole place. A very welcoming place to dine at.
Great food, huge portions, great service. Definitely a cute little gem that feels so homey with the diner food.
I had 2 eggs overeasy and water which they charge 50 cents. Food was good
Love this place. Especially the Spinach Pie and Eggplant Parmigian
Excellent little coffee shop, perfect for breakfast! Everyone there was friendly and helpful. It was a typical American coffee shop menu, which was exactly what we were looking for 🖒
The food is great! I got the small lunch salad special and the salad was enormous! Friendly and efficient staff. Great Location!
Very nice place. People is nice and they have a wide variety of dishes to choose from.
I was on vacation with my family and we came here twice because it was so tasty and comfortable. The owner is friendly and the food is delicious. I got the blueberry muffin, highly recommend!
Wow, this place has GREAT customer service. The owner noticed I was low on water and personally got a new glass for me and addressed me as “sir.” In an era where customer service has died—this place is the exception! Food was fresh and great as well.
The only Greek diner in Washington Heights. Love that the breakfast menu is available at all times. My go-to place for breakfast and coffee! The prices are reasonable too!!
I've had alot of their breakfast and lunch items, and they are all really good. They use real carved meat (like Thanksgiving-style) on their sandwiches, and the challah french toast is the best french toast I've ever had. The people cooking the food get my "over-medium" eggs correct every time. The waitstaff is so friendly and helpful, with the exception of this tall old guy named Tommy. If you get him, consider asking for someone else, or finding a different restaurant that night. The place is just not the same with that guy working.
A great little diner right off the A train at 181st. It's open 24 hours, so it's perfect for a late night chow down after a late night downtown! Plus a simple breakfast for two is under $30 (including tip!) The service is great and really creates a pleasant experience and an atmosphere of "Customer First!" A recommended sit down, dine-in spot in Washington Heights.
I come here for their coffee usually. Solid choice.
Food was amazing and the servers were kind and polite. Great place to just stop by and sit after a long walk down 181st
Great spot for breakfast. Classic New York diner, minimal frills, good service. My go to for a satisfying American breakfast
The food is really good. Just watch out for serving sizes, they were bigger than I thought they'd be. Other than that, a solid place to hang out, eat with someone else, etc.
Hudson View is a Family Diner. It has an amazing quiet atmosphere and the food is great. The waitress is amazing. The owners are also great. My favorite dish is the "Ruben" sandwich and the Cobb salad. I will recommend it to anyone.
Absolutely amazing food, we came from Canada an tried this place out an would go back any time, best food I've had in a long time for breakfast. The bill was super cheap 35$ but as a Canadian an using credit card ended up paying 55$ still worth it, but if your Canadian use cash saves money
Nice local community diner. Very small business-family owned type vibe. Very friendly staff. The type of place where local politicians often stop in to chat with constituents. Also they fly the Pride flag all year round and have cool pictures of the neighborhood.
I have only eaten food delivered through Uber eats from here but it was the best food I have had while in this city. It was fresh hot homemade and absolutely delicious It was fresh hot homemade and absolutely delicious.
Decent food. Small setting area so occasionally I've had to wait for a seat when going with 3 or more people. Best eggplant parmigiana in the neighborhood. Overall very good.
Good solid diner food. I had the broccoli cheddar omelet and an unsweetened iced tea. Perfect! Clean place, quick and pleasant service. Also good window views for people watching.
Just ordered for the first time, officially the new favorite place. Freshest, tastiest food ever. Definitely a Saturday morning breakfast I'll be buying again! I got the turkey sausage scrambled eggs sandwich, and the challah french toast.
After 15 years of ordering from Hudson View, I've sworn off patronizing them, again. They botched two delivery orders, and, then, tonight, did didn't fill my delivery at all. Instead, they called me to tell me that I said I had ordered pick up (I hadn't) told me they would deliver. They didn't and didn't bother to tell me they weren't sending the food, leaving me waiting, hungry, until it was too late to order elsewhere. Hudson View clearly has given up trying to serve customers well. When I called, the staff -- who knows me well -- wouldn't admit it did anything wrong, and couldn't have been more eager to close up shop and get off the phone than if a tornado was headed their way. It's a pity; there aren't a lot of decent places in the Heights for a salad. But, for whatever reason, lack of staff, failure to keep up with technology, disinterest, I won't order from them anymore. I hope someone else can make a go of diner food in the area.
Great Food...All Day Breakfast! Great local place.
As a Professional Chef out on the road it was nice to stop in at the place I grew up. the big Apple NYC Hudson View Cafe made me feel right at home . Definitely a must goto when you're in town. Thanks for the amazing food and hospitality.
Everything you could expect from a breakfast place. Great service and good food. Very generous portions at an affordable price.
Lovely place with the Greek touch. Everything was wonderful. Highly recommended
Beautiful atmosphere, great food, good wines and a spectacular view. Staff was just the best 👌🏾
Stopped in with my Mom, since we wanted Breakfast at dinner time. Very attentive service and great food (Eggs, Bacon, Home Fries)
That’s a perfect place to start your day. Broad selections of the all type of dishes (wraps/eggs/salads/meat) on the menu, a lot to choose from but at the same time not too many options so you’re not lost. Portions are big (I always end up taking something for to go) and made with love. Servers are kind and nice. We live around the corner and that’s our favorite spot for breakfast. 🩷
Never has there been a better spot here in Washington heights where you can grab a mouth watering sangria accompanied by delicious food and humble service for an uptown price with a magnificent view of the George Washington Bridge & Hudson River just up the block from this cool establishment.
This diner is on the corner of 181 and Ft. Washington. It has seating inside but not so much. They have typical diner food but it is fresh and clean - the fries are fantastic. Their portions are generous but not too much. They are very patient with families with kids. The prices are very reasonable especially for nyc. Will definitely be going back there on an evening that no one feels like cooking
There breakfast options are quite enjoyable. They give you alot for the value spent. I personally havent been in person but their delivery is great.
Huge eclectic menu with something for everyone. The deserts are especially tasty. This place is right around the corner from my apt. and just up the stairs from the 181st st. subways station off the A train so it's convenient, reasonably priced and the food is great. Classic diner with cooky waitresses and great food.
I come here, when i meet my German students in Washington Heights. The place is not too busy and the food is ok. I often have an Omlette with cheddar. She cheese is very basic, which is ok for me. It is not as cheap as you might think, but it is also not really expensive. Their credit card limit is $10. They do not take Amex.
Just a standard neighborhood diner. Everything was fine. Food was good, large portions. Service fine. Drinks could be stronger but we didnt come to the diner to drink.
This establishment features typical diner fare and reasonable prices. But the real noteworthy thing is how friendly and involved the staff are. I first came to this diner when I was looking for an apartment in the neighborhood. When the owner checked-in at my table I asked him a few questions about the area and he stayed for several minutes to share insights and stories about the neighborhood. I've been coming back to this place ever since!
Pretty good diner food. The service has been fast and friendly. We always get the veggie burgers. If you order on seamless. They don't offer the combo meal (with fries). So I just call them up and order. It's cheaper that way. It's also clean and does get pretty busy for breakfast.
I want to give this place a full 5 stars but it’s sooooo expensive for a diner. The food is consistent and the coffee is good. The service is awesome as well. They know their regulars and treat them well. I love the turkey sausage and that they are always willing to customize your order. Just wish it wasn’t so darn pricey. Be prepared to spend more than you would like to a good breakfast!
Ambiance is very much like a diner’s. Interesting to have a small town feel mid-city but very much appreciated. Food is decent, staff is attentive and fast. Small space but very well setup. Price on higher end for a diner. Worth a try. I’m a stickler in cleanliness and while everything is clean, I did notice some dark corners close to the kitchen area I tried to not focus on.
Hudson View is a cozy spot conveniently located near mass transit, making it a breeze to get to, whether you're hopping off a bus or train. The staff here are friendly and courteous, ensuring a warm welcome from the moment you walk in. I visited for breakfast and found it to be exactly what you'd expect from a classic diner—good, hearty fare that hits the spot. The coffee, in particular, was a standout, definitely worth a mention. The space is small but charming, creating a nice, casual atmosphere. The only hiccup in my experience was a minor one—diners are typically known for serving coffee in classic mugs, but I was given a to-go cup instead. Perhaps they were just out of mugs that day! All in all, a solid diner experience that's worth checking out, especially if you're looking for a convenient and friendly spot to grab breakfast.
Nice place nothing special. Owner didn't put on exhaust or air conditioning. Place smelled and hot. Not a repeat visit. Their breakfast sucks. Go to iHop.
Great location near the GW Bus station.
Hudson View Diner is a great neighborhood hang. My experience is mainly after church brunch and on that count, for me it rocks! Sunday, after church, hungry for breakfast food, can't make up my mind...so I have the Hungry Man (pun intended), coffee til I vibrate and a mimosa.Thank you Hudson View. Service is fast and freindly. Yes a little pricey and they could keep the bathrooms a little cleaner.
Decent but average. If not teetering between just below average and average. Service is fine. Food is regular, not amazing. But filling. But i like the atmosphere of this diner. Feels oldish.
This place can really be hit or miss. On one hand, I want to love it because I absolutely LOVE diners, but on the other hand, I think if you want anything other than breakfast, your meal could end up being pretty average and overpriced. The breakfast is pretty good/standard as far as french toast, pancakes, and eggs go. The omelettes are overpriced for being very cheap in terms of ingredients and the drinks are very pricey ($5 for orange juice?). The produce they use in all the sandwiches seems pretty low quality and the few times I've had a sandwich, the chicken or meat was really tough. Breakfast items like panackes or french toast are good, however.
Few basic diners in the neighborhood so it's a shame that this spot (with decent food) had no air conditioning. Yes, i realize i could've gone elsewhere but my buddy was Intent on sweating with his pancakes.
Place is OK for a diner. Nothing too fancy, but the food is satisfactory and not too expensive. You get large portions. They don't seem to get a whole lot of people and the windows were recently smashed. They haven't repaired them yet last I checked. They are better than what they look...
It’s probably ok and convenient if you live or work close by but not worth the detour. We ordered sandwiches which were passable, the onion soup was weird, but the onion rings were surprisingly good; maybe we ordered the wrong stuff but I am not motivated to go back. Service was attentive.
Starting with the good: friendly workers, attentive waitress and staff. Now on to the rest: I came with two other friends and none of us finished our meals. We all ordered different menu items so all across the board it was very subpar. Eggs, toast, nachos, cheese, and somehow orange juice (lacking taste) each individually were underwhelming leading to a lacking experience. From other reviews it seems like burgers are a good way to go, but I won’t be coming back. Would not recommend.
The prices are high for what you're getting, which is typical diner fare. I wouldn't say the food is bad but it's not that great either. Paper or plastic cups for coffee or water. Note that they CHARGE FOR WATER. Waiters have always been great.
Just so you know, if you come here and they set down plastic cups on your table without permission, they charge you for the water. They dont even ask or tell you until you get the bill. For tap water. Its so sad to see this diner overtaken by greed because the staff seems nice. I've lived here for 11 years and this place drastically changed after the pandemic. We do not go here often anymore as everytime we do, some type of new charge is added to the bill. Its so sad because the owner doesn't seem to care what neighborhood people think. Even the food is mostly thrown together without care. I would love to see this place grow to be better as its the only neighborhood diner. But it just never changes :/
Nice clean friendly diner. Reasonable prices. Good food. The waitress messed up the order several times, but the manager was attentive and corrected the mistakes. The waitress was polite and apologetic about the errors. Eat in table & booths. Take out & delivery available. They accept credit cards, but not Amex or Discover.
Dropped $40 on two spanokopitas. One was cold, the other lukewarm. Both inedible. Salad stale. Soup (chicken w/rice) greasy. Never ever again. Service OK.
Extremely expensive...TOO expensive....and definitely not worth the money.....food is garbage...orange juice $5 dollars??? They'd tell you that its fresh squeezed .... I wouldn't care if it came from mars....five dollars for a cup of orange juice is outrageous.....dont even waste your time and money.. Took ONE HOUR for delivery AND the food was cold ... AGAIN DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY
For the past 9 days I’ve had horrible digestive issues. Doctor finally came back with test results and said I got a parasite from someone not cleaning their hands properly and then preparing food. Apart from meals cooked at home for my husband and myself, this diner is the only time I ate out and had a meal without him in the last two weeks. Twelve hours later I was feverish, had abdominal pain, and terrible diarrhea. So it basically came down to someone in this restaurant going to the bathroom, not washing hands, then cooking my food. I will not be going back to this diner again.
The food is passable...good burgers. A $16+ chicken caesar salad? They're out of their minds. Not even any cheese on top! I had an AWFUL delivery experience...they delivered my food without the salad dressing. I called back...they said they'd send it right away. HALF HOUR later when I called again, the receptionist ARGUED with me, saying HER delivery guy said he delivered it. What, was I just making it up? I have better things to do with my time than bullshit people. NEVER AGAIN will I eat IN the restaurant OR order from them. I urge you to do the same.
Typical diner, nothing special about this place. The food is over-priced for diner food as well. You can go to many other diners in the city and pay far less for a simple omelette or pancakes. Lots of nickel and dime fees for modifying the order and for delivery.
Went there today with partner, who ordered a bowl of chicken matzo ball soup. When he told the waiter he wanted the chicken matzo ball soup after the waiter listed the soups, the waiter said with some attitude, "NO, we have chicken noodle, vegetable, and (something, I forget). We also can put matzo ball in the chicken noodle." Isn't that what my partner said, chicken soup with matzo ball? Anyway, I ordered the turkey sandwich. At $9 it was just bread, lettuce, and turkey. It came with a pickle and slaw. No tomatoes or anything - and turkey was cold. Not sure if it was supposed to be, but the bread was toasted so it was weird eating a cold turkey sandwich with warm bread. I didn't finish it because it was dry and bland. Partner's soup bowl had something caked on it and was way too salty, like something out of a can. He had it taken back, and didn't want it anymore. The waiter came back and said something along the lines of "I am being honest with you, it was not dirty, that was from the soup, it dried on there from the top line." Total lie, considering we couldn't scrape it off with our fingernails and it was below the top line of the soup - only after a few sips did we notice it. Even if it was from stock, it clearly wasn't from this batch of soup if it was caked on. The defensiveness he showed was aggravating. I also saw the waiter shake his head a few times at us when he was on the other side of the restaurant, and heard another woman say, "Can we get some service? Why is everyone here so grumpy?" Overall, not a good experience and won't be back.
I used to love this restaurant and went there with my children often. However, I was extremely embarrassed and treated poorly due to the fact that I did not tip the waitress what she considered the right tip. Mind you back then ( about 6 years ago) tips were really an optional. This person was physical towards me when she grabbed me by the arm and insulted me in front of my young children and other customers. I was saddened by the incident because my children felt scared and sad for the incident. The waiter was not reprimanded by her action which made me assume that she was supported by the management. I hope that this does not happen to any other family in the neighborhood. Customers certainly do not deserve this type of treatment. On the other hand, even though their food used to be expensive, it used to be pretty decent.
Came in right around brunch time on Sunday. Took the waitress ten minutes to take our order. Took an additional 20 to get three grilled cheeses, and then an additional 15 while I sat and watched everyone else eat waiting for three pancakes. Food was mediocre, service was pretty bad. Also they're a grade pending.
I've lived in the neighborhood for over forty years and I went here for the first time today. The food was nothing special. However this is the only diner that I've ever been to that serves coffee in paper cups! I was shocked. Not only that, but the coffee was hot at least, but too hot to hold in a paper cup. I asked the waiter for a sleeve. He says they don't have any, do I want some ice? I would never come here again. I couldn't believe that any of the people there would knowingly go to a diner that serves coffee in paper cups. At least the plates weren't paper.
Food was not very good and lacked taste. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger that tasted like a hockey puck with lettuce and tomato. The server was very nice and attentive. But LOOK OUT!!!... THEY HAVE ROACHES. One crawled out right from underneath my seat while I was eating. The 2 stars are strictly for the server. Nothing else.
The food was all right but they charged for tap water.
Well food is ok but they are really scummy business.. THEY CHARGE YOU FOR TAP WATER. No joke…they also serve you in these awkward plastic cups that they have to open to give you more..Better yet they dont tell you, and they try and hide it on the bill using the letter W…Honestly its kinda a rip off…everything…lts also run down and kinda dirty…Go somewhere else or better yet bring your own water.. Edit: There is a new diner on 187 and Fort Wash. The reviews are promising and they have coffee and water served in real cups. Also pricing is better! Try this place instead.
Ordered breakfast that took 1 hour to come. The bagels are hard. I asked for extra cream cheese, which I did not get. They only cover 1/3 of the bagel with cream cheese. It is generally overpriced for basic food.
Served me a raw cold burger. Returned for a new one. My son had diarrhea within 45 min of eating. Beware.
One of the worst experience ordering food delivery. I placed an order at 2:10pm. I get a call from the delivery person at 2:49p stating that he is unable to find the address provided. I confirmed my address with the delivery guy. Ten minutes later the delivery guy calls me again and stated he is still unable to find my address he cant find the building number. I confirmed my address again and this time he tells me that the person who took down the order wrote the wrong address on the delivery slip. I once again give him the correct address and this time provided the cross street. It was now 3:10p and my food was still not here!! I took an initiative to call the restaurant and provide my concern that the delivery person is lost and my food should be cold by now. The person who answers stated that she will contact the delivery guy and confirm where he is and she will call me back. Oh and mind you I confirmed the address again with the young lady on the phone. Ten minutes later i still have yet to receive a call from the young lady with a status on my delivery. (By the way this order was already paid for) I decided to call back again. This time she places another young lady on the phone. She stated that they confirmed my address on the caller ID, that the delivery person guy called me twice and I did not answer, And now I will need to wait to have a new order resent. So if I did not answer how would I know that the delivery guy was lost. The address on my caller ID? Who can I call to sue for that this is the first time I hear that you can visibly see an address on a caller ID. Also this is my first time ordering with them so they should not have an address stored under my number. If that is what she meant. Mind you she was talking over me while I was trying to explain to her exactly what was going wrong. She failed to listen and also spoke to me very nasty. In turn i said to her I don't appreciate how you are speaking to me I want to speak to your manager. She says I'm the manager!!! I said you are the manager and you speak to your customers this way. I asked to speak to the owner and he/She refused to get on the phone. She tried to offer me a discount and send me my food in five minutes. She then called me back in 5min later asking if they should cancel the order. Are you serious!!!! I replied yes and at no time did she even apologize for the most horrible customer service provided. Last time I will ever be ordering from this place. And I will also warn everyone else I know not to order as well. I just hope I get my money refunded back to my account for food I never received!!
Average diner food. Unfortunately, bad service. I dined alone and was seated by the bathroom in the back while other tables were available and despite my requests, a common practice among restaurants, which I find offensive. Was never checked in on by staff, wasn’t offered water. Was just handed a check.
This place years ago used to be really great plus who serves coffee not in a coffee mug but in a cup like if you were talking out !
Great food, great service, and a cozy atmosphere. Most of all, consistent.
Ok first I must say why when u order coffee when sitting in its put in a disposable cup ? Very poor condition inside invest in the restaurant unpleasant smell inside food was ok.
No decent prices! Maybe the majority of people that go in there settle for expensive/can afford to eat there. It's too expensive!!! And not that great food, it's a diner people, relax! Burnt my toast, how can anyone get that wrong?
I had a salad with grilled salmon. It was delicious but about 30 minutes later, I had an upset stomach. Violently upset. There was nothing in the salad that should have irritated my stomach. I found onion peel (dry outer peel and no onions on my salad) and an olive (just one by accident I assume). I didn't think much of it at the time but now I wonder what went on in the kitchen.
I was so disappointed at this restaurant, when I noticed my bill that they charged me for 2 glass of water not bottle of water glass tap water from the sink,😬😬😳unbelievable I also noticed that they charge 3.6% if you paid with credit card 💳 Whoever is reading this place don't wate your time having breakfast, lunch nor diner at Huddon View Restaurant enjoy eat at another place!! I don't recommend this place at all!☝☝☝
Very disappointing, did they change owners or cook in past few years ? I saw great reviews and article on yelp but when we got there everything from coffee to sandwich was overpriced and not good. How about service ? Well, We got yelled at by our waiter when we couldn't see what were the bread options in the menu, he lost his temper and got very irritated. Worst 40$ spent in my entire life.
Horrible both times I tried it. Pastrami was toughest rubber I've ever had. When I said something the girl said that's the way we serve it. A year latter I tried it again the omelet was dark brown on the outside and the filling I ordered was scrambled into the eggs. I took one bite, complained, ask them to take it away. The waitress returned with a check for the full price. It sucks.
Food was okay. Service was okay. It was the first I time I visited the location. I wanted to experience something different then my local spots. Oh boy!. This location charged you for cheese, WATER, extra eggs which I don't recall asking for. It will be my last n only visit. Lesson learned go downtown. Lol
I Visited this restaurant this past Sunday morning with 4 of my friends. Each of them ordered food while I simply ordered 2 sunny side up eggs with toast. All of my friends’ food came out 10 mins later, while the server/cooks completely forgot my order. I waited 5 mins thinking maybe they were too busy (even though it’s a very small diner and there were some empty seats)… I finally get up and tell the woman at the register. She says, “I’ll take care of it now” (with no apology)… I sit down for 5 more minutes and still no eggs, no toast, and no acknowledgment. All of this while I’m hearing the cooks whisking eggs and completing other orders. I of course stood up and canceled my order. 10 mins later as we were all preparing to leave, I finally get a passing apology from the woman. She says, “Sorry for the eggs” as she quickly turns away and greets another table. This is a place of business and I know many people in the area. Mistakes happen, but how you react to them changes everything. This will definitely be the last time I go there and will definitely tell my friends who live in the area to not visit this diner.
I recently received the wrong order, and when I called to inquire, instead of acknowledging the mistake, the staff shifted blame. Initially, they promised to send a dasher to deliver the correct order, but shortly after, they called back claiming my order was correct. Fortunately, I live nearby and was able to walk to the restaurant with proof of purchase. Rather than apologizing, they blamed me for not using Grubhub, the dasher (who wasn’t present), and even cited not having a printer as the reason for the mix-up. However, I noticed a staff member verifying pickups, indicating it was their oversight. A simple apology would have sufficed, but unfortunately, this is the second time I've experienced poor customer service at this restaurant. As much as I want to support small businesses, we'll be seeking another diner in the neighborhood to support moving forward.
We’ve been in the neighborhood for 26 years & frequented this diner for most of that time. Initially & for years it was, for lack of a better term, a dump: horrible food/service. We still went as it was our only diner option at that time. When the current management took over some time back I was overjoyed that the quality of food/ service/ cleanliness skyrocketed & was maintained for some time. But after the pandemic certain portions shrank considerably, dishes seemed thrown together without care and the service was just horrible. & they’re still charging for tap water! They did it during the pandemic to recoup having to buy disposable cups. It was necessary but now it’s just greed? Literally the only restaurant in Manhattan I’ve found that does this. Sad to say so many of us in the neighborhood had to give up our hangout of so many years. We’re hoping things will change and we can come back at some point. Until then…
A small step above a greasy spoon yet way too overpriced. Can't have bkfast for less than $15.00 and the service is way below standard. Received coffee in a paper cup with no stirrer or spoon to stir the sugar and milk. Shortcut for them but if I'm dining in, I need actual cups, not to-go cups. Asked for well done eggs; yolk was semi runny. Home fries weren't seasoned well, no onions nor peppers to be seen. Toast wasn't buttered well, just a slab in the center of the toast, how lazy! Asked for only sausage but received sausage, bacon and ham. Jalapeño Poppers were thrown carelessly on a "bed" of spinach from last year...so wilted. They don't stop and think of the small details that will make their guests happy. 3% credit card charge. $.50 per egg fee. Out dining fee? $50 for breakfast at this type of place is ludicrous! Definitely will not stop here again. Was on my way to Le Cheile when I chose to give this place a try. Never again.
I was always perplexed by them serving arrangement when they served water and coffee in disposable paper and plastic cups. In my opinion, it's unacceptable for a sit-down restaurant. But on my last visit, I was shocked when they charged me for the aforementioned disposable cups with tap water. At the register, an employee told me that the next time, I could ask for water in regular glasses. She took the charge off the bill when I asked her about it. But the whole experience had a scammy feel to it. They charge a 3% fee for credit card transactions, which is also unacceptable. I won't be coming back to this place. Btw there's no view of the Hudson River if anyone was wondering.
