busy and intimate atmosphere, even at 10pm! the cured meats are a must-order - ask for the chef's selection. the spaghettini dish was unlike any other i've had at an italian restaurant. the olive oil cake was not too sweet and a very pleasant dessert. it's clear they put a lot of thought into their menu.

Very good pasta. We had the cavatelli, the cacio e pepe, the carbonara, and the burger. All the pasta dishes were delicious. No frills. Just good pasta. The burger, I didn't try but it certainly looked good. The fries that came with the burger were overly salty, however. Great service and ambiance. Overall a solid lunch!

Ridiculously delicious meal. One of the best meals I’ve ever had.

Got some loaves of bread-buckwheat and sourdough-they are insanely delicious… also got inked dried pasta imported from Italy and would highly recommend them

It’s your cozy, delicious, neighborhood restaurant. I’ve been so many times and it’s always great. The pizzas are some of my fave. Their deli is high quality. Great wines. Their flourless chocolate cake 🤌🏻 Also great for delivery.

Love all of the Italian fare at Il Buco AV. The starters, pastas, pizzas, sides and mains are consistently solid under Chef Justin's helm. The shortribs are not to be missed! Loved the spicy olive pizza too.

The manager was super friendly,lovely woman and was able to get us to a comfortable table earlier than the reservation. The server wasn't the best but the food was impeccable. Very delicious and well put together. It was my friend's birthday and they made it very special with amazing panna cotta dessert on the house. I ordered cacio e peppe, very good! Wine paired well.

Julian at the bar made excellent recommendations on food and beverage. We got the fried artichokes, cod, and mushroom pasta, all of which were excellent. Julian makes a mean espresso martini too! This was my second visit to the restaurant and I am not normally a restaurant repeater, but would come back. We caught a show at Public Theater after and it’s right around the corner. Thanks Julian!

the bread was a stunner. the deep fried artichoke, so good. salad was perfectly dressed. good vibes. great sharables. mushroom pasta is a must. sit at the back bar so you can to see the chefs and get a view of the full atmosphere.

First off, this is probably the most spacious restaurant I’ve been to in NYC lol. Loved the (daily special) citrus salad and crab salad with cucumbers, black rice with pork, and short ribs. Their chocolate mousse pudding was among the best I’ve ever had. However, their spaghetti neri was a failure-the spaghetti was super stiff and dry. We waited a bit longer for the primi and secondi so the waiter gave us a basket of bread that normally would be charged for $2. It was also very good. Overall satisfying experience!

Il Buco is a restaurant that I would highly recommend to anyone who loves delicious food in a cozy setting with excellent service. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was delightful and welcoming, creating an atmosphere that made me feel right at home. To start, I ordered the crispy artichokes which were simply amazing. They were perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of crispiness and seasoning to enhance the flavor of the artichokes. Next, I had a dish of spaghettini with bottarga. The pasta was cooked “al dente”and the bottarga added a perfect balance of saltiness. For dessert, I opted for the flourless chocolate cake, it was dense and rich complemented by a side of creme fraiche and strawberries. Throughout the meal, the service was attentive and accommodating, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend Il Buco for anyone looking for a delicious meal, cozy ambiance, and exceptional service.

This restaurant was great, the service was on par. Had a great dinner with friends. The fish was amazing the food was fresh. Felt like they were just taking care of us tonight even though the restaurant was packed. Must say hidden gem in nyc. You must give it a try. Will be back and will tell my friends. The bread has organic ingredients. The pasta was also great and fresh. Overall good ingredients and a fantastic restaurant very clean and managed well.

Great service and great food. We had a tartar, pasta cacio e pepe and spaghetti which were incredible, Al dente and just like they should be. Desert of pannacota is magnificent. Coffee is so so not very good cappuccino.

Wonderful food, we got chicken pasta and artichokes and it was incredible! The wine suggestion for our meal complimented the chicken perfectly! Would highly recommend! Great service.

Wow, this restaurant completely took me off guard in becoming now one of my top 3 favorite restaurants in NYC. Such a unique menu offering, extremely fresh ingredients, awesome interior design, and incredibly helpful & friendly service. Highly recommend!

2nd time here, and it was to celebrate a friends birthday. Despite it being busy, our server was attentive, friendly and checked in on us often. We shared the octopus & crispy artichokes - highly recommend and it seemed to a fav at many tables. I had the squid ink pasta & it was really flavorful. For dessert we tried the chocolate budino & olive oil cake, both were delicious. Vibe is nice but can be noisy.

Great service, lovely and unique ambiance, delicious food (olive oil is a must), wonderful wine selection + cocktails, and seamless reservation process via Resy/Amex Global Dining. We got the fried artichoke, lamb ragu tagliatelle and a mussels/squid ink pasta dish (can't remember the name), a side of roasted maitake mushrooms, and affogato for dessert. Everything was absolutely delicious - although the mushrooms weren't my personal fav. More dry and crunchy than I'd like, but my husband enjoyed them. For seating next time I'll request to not be seated in the very far back end-of-the-table seat right next to the kitchen. Waitstaff was hustling and bustling in the corner behind me a lot (not their fault, I just don't think there should be a seat there). I couldn't fully relax, but it was cool being able to see the kitchen in action.

Had the lamb ragu for dinner and the chocolate cake for dessert…. both were unreal. My waiter was next level and the whole place is absolutely beautiful. Easily one of the best meals I’ve had in NYC

Really tasty dishes. Bella made us feel at home. Seating on the patio was also a nice touch to feel on vacations. The fried artichokes are a must. The cucumber and pine nuts cream nicely zesty. The cacio Pepe well executed. The chocolate custard was tasty and a generous portion!!!

A lovely Italian restaurant with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food is excellent, and I particularly recommend trying the agnoli – perfectly done and full of flavour. A place worth coming back to.

Favorite Italian place. We always get the prosciutto, carbonara (only available for lunch) and the spaghettini bottarga. The taste is pretty consistent - though we think the pasta tastes better/is more consistent for brunch/lunch. The olive oil they give you with the bread basket tastes so good. After we tasted the olive oil here we don't get the olive oil that we eat bread with from anywhere else than the market here. The dessert options are great too. We like the olive oil cake (the seasonal ones are good too) and the flourless chocolate cake. Servers are always attentive, efficient, welcoming and nice. We never had a negative experience here. We were always pleased by the wine recommendations too.

The chitarra pasta was one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had in my life! I’m still dreaming about it. The bread basket was super delicious, too, especially with the olive oil and salt. Will definitely be back!

Bright, casual Italian spot in NoHo with a market-like setup and house-made pastas, breads, and salumi. The space feels airy and welcoming, and dishes like cacio e pepe or grilled octopus are consistently delicious. Great for lunch, dinner, or just stopping by for a quick bite and glass of wine.

I’ve never been more pleasantly surprised to stumble across a restaurant. The hostess kindly squeezed the 2 of us in, despite not having a reservation and it being a fully booked Friday evening, and we will be forever grateful. Giovanni was our server and he went absolutely above and beyond. The service was outstanding and elevated our already delightful dining experience. He is so knowledgeable and guided us through the menu with excellent recommendations catered to our palette. Now the food - so authentic and delicious. So many items made in house. We are already planning to come ASAP and make our way through more items on the menu. This is now one of our go-to spots.

Tried a nice sampling of appetizers and entrees from the menu. Our favorites were the prosciutto and the razor clams by far. We had heard great things about the bread basket and short rib dish but were a bit underwhelmed. The bread was cold and didn’t seem like it was baked on premises. The short rib had some add ons like celery and nuts which were unexpected but hard to integrate since the meat was all still on the bone. Maybe a refined plating or slicing could have helped. The fried artichoke recommended to us was ok but the texture was a bit rubbery. We preferred the brussel sprouts for a veggie side. Pasta was a great texture.

Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria offers a warm, inviting slice of Italy right in the city. The ambiance is wonderfully cozy, setting the perfect scene for a classic Italian meal. Starting with the Lattuga, the salad was refreshing, though the dressing was on the saltier side. The Yellowtail Crudo, enhanced with mushroom conserva and fresh berries, was beautifully presented and wonderful like sashimi. The house-cured meats like bresaola and mortadella from the SALUMI DELLA CASA were rich and satisfying. The Chitarra Neri alla Vongole was a delightful dish, though the mussel brodo could have been less salty to better highlight the fresh clams. The Broccoli di Ciccio was a nice contrast with its creamy labneh and za’atar. While some dishes were saltier than expected, the quality and presentation were impeccable. The staff’s attentiveness added to the authentic dining experience.

The bottarga pasta was soo yummy. Wish it came in larger portions! The calamari appetizer was so-so. Prices are quite expensive tho for the portions you get. Service is very attentive and friendly. It gets to be quite loud in the restaurant

Stellar vibes, especially on the upstairs outside loft. Cocktail menu was interesting and creative. But food was subpar for us - artichokes needed a sauce, the crudo was low quality and had a strange berry sauce and the duck was $48 for a tiny piece of duck. Stick to the pastas, have a bunch of spritzes outside and have a fun time in a home-style lively environment.

The layout, lighting, and interior are well done. Staff is very attentive and have zones so they are never too far away. Be aware sitting at the bar can become very crowded when the restaurant starts to fill up. Okay if you're an early bird. Strongly recommend Bucatini Cacio e Pepe. Amazing. Heirloom tomatoes with olive tapnade is very good. Service was great for dinner on Saturday but spotty on Sunday. Not sure why.

The atmosphere and service were amazing. I had the carbonara and it was really good. I would personally put less pepper in the dish though.

We went here to celebrate a birthday and it has a nice casual vibe compared to its other locations. Here’s what we ordered: - 1/5 bread basket (bread isn’t on the house here and frankly wasn’t that great. It was cold and felt old - 5/5 buratta - the cheese was fresh, loved the chili salt, citrus fruits And the lime oil drizzle - 2/5 cacio e Pepe - the pasta was Al dente but the rest of the pasta was below average, lacked in flavor, and probably had pepper for 3 servings. - 4/5 Brussels sprouts - 5/5 panna cotta - great texture, flavor and loved the balsamic drizzle - 5/5 chocolate cake

Delicious dinner and great service tonight. And also happy to report the restaurant was jampacked on a Monday night! We shared 3 apps including the octopus and butterfly squash. The pastas are delicious and their pannacotta is excellent.

Cool restaurant with a market vibe indoors and lots of natural lighting. Perfect for brunch or a date. Pastas were decent although I think they could be slightly lighter on the sauces. Service is also patchy but they are friendly.

I would really want to give 5 stars. I always got my bread and pasta from here but whenever I want to place a order nobody is helpful there. Especially the lady hostess are always so rude and not make you feel welcome at all.

Amazing food! Squid ink Vongole was to die for. Wagyu Buvette steak although very flavorful was a bit tough. The different cheeses and meat selections they have were great. 3 stars though because of the attitude of the hostess who was wearing a belly shirt at this fine establishment! Ridiculous.

Expecting a better experience. The decor of the place is great. Cozy and with a “home made” feel. Service was OK. By no means up to the price of the menu. In general The food was below expectation. The dessert was awesome. I liked it a lot. Not coming again. Service vs food vs price not a good balance in my books.

TERRIBLE QUALITY OF FOOD!! :( I don't recommend. I wanted to love this place so bad!! I decided to go here with my bestie because it was one of her fave, most reliable choices... unfortunately, the both of us were left disappointed. I sent my shrimp appetizer back to the kitchen because it was "raw". I actually spit the food out. The waitress offered me a replacement plate but tbh, she should've offered a completely different dish instead. Not only did the shrimp come back insanely overcooked, but it was still bad!! This was when I realized it was never raw, but literally BAD. Expired. Poorly cared for. Mushy, slimy and disgusting :( I became very SICK after this... details are just are nasty as both dishes. I regret eating and paying for the meal. In terms of the Montauk squid, my bestie was disappointed by the change of presentation and ingredient. She explained the dish used to contain long tentacles. This one looked and tasted different. The waitress said it was due to the change in head chef. I attached photos of the shrimp and squid meal. I think the presentation was gorgeous, but the taste was mid and quality was extremely poor. Our drinks were delicious and our entrees were ok. We ended our dinner with an affogato. They put the ice cream in front of you and then they pour the espresso. It was delicious. Waitresses and waiters are attentive and kind. Atmosphere is definitely Italian. There is both indoor and outdoor seating downstairs and upstairs. There are many chances for amazing photo ops, especially when the place is empty.

My husband and I have been coming to il buco (both the original and the alimentari) for years. Tonight left a really bad taste in our mouths. We were seated 15 minutes after our reservation- while we were waiting we were asked to stand in the galley between service and the dining room, ducking and weaving waiters. When we sat down we were ignored by our server for an additional 15 minutes before we could place drinks. They forgot our appetizer - when we mentioned it, they said they would take it off the bill, which felt a bit obvious. The food was delicious but the price of the food also includes wonderful service- which really missed the mark. After years of enjoying a night here- we will probably be going elsewhere.

Pretty disappointing visit today. Tried to hop into other restaurants nearby but because we were hungry didn’t want to wait. Saw promising reviews and decided to try il buco. Walked in and was seated at the bar. Despite high traffic at being at the bar had to complete multiple attempts to get service to ask a question about the menu. Was able to order a glass of wine while being seated but was unable to actually ask question/order food until 27 minutes after sitting. Unfortunately, already ordered the wine otherwise I would have walked out and went elsewhere. Food came an hour after being seated. Had to ask multiple staff members who were not our server to check on entree and to grab the check. Had it not been so difficult to order, would have ordered more. Had to go elsewhere for a second meal prior to going home. Upsetting experience as I had a friend visiting town from another country and the lack of service really dampened the dinner as she was questioning the lack of service was targeted due to our demographic - whether it was our ethnicity or how we dressed. Restaurant was full when we entered and we were almost the last to leave (not by choice). Felt dinner was a wasted experience with a dear lifetime friend who was visiting for a short period of time that I haven’t seen in awhile. Wished we waited to eat 20 minutes and had a much more pleasant experience elsewhere. Food was delicious but service is extremely lacking and was a waste of time. Will not return. Amendment: read all the other 1 star reviews and experience was very similar. Usually disregard low reviews as outliers but this was absolutely my experience.
