Opinions de Ivan Ramen New York
I stopped by Ivan Ramen last month as it was close to where I was staying in the LES. It did not disappoint. The space is small, but cozy and relaxed, and the servers were excellent and very attentive throughout the meal. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen, which was very rich and flavorful. We also had the potato salad and pork buns which were both very good. Everything tastes fresh, portions are generous and the presentation is really nice. For dessert, I highly recommend the ube pudding, it’s definitely one of the best ube desserts I’ve had. If you’re in the Lower East Side and craving ramen, this is definitely a place worth stopping by.
Been wanting to check out this place for years and it was truly exceptional! I enjoyed every drop of the chicken Paitan broth, extra crispy chicken karaage, and the gyoza. Not to mention a kind and professional service from the waitress (we were a party of three sitting in the corner table by the window in the back right at noon on 2/22/26). Thank you!
Hands down some of the most fantastic ramen I've eaten. Having visited Japan multiple times, I can confidently say this place is authentic and top-tier. If you appreciate high-quality ramen, you have to eat here. You absolutely have to try the Tonkotsu. A must-visit!
Amazing ramen - perfect tooth feel / mouthfeel. I love the tonkatsu ramen - it's got a really savory, rich broth - perfect for a winter warm up. Had the special pastrami bao to start and it was fantastic. I'm partial to their pickles - kinda spicy, quite delightful. Cider list is pretty good, too - enjoyed the Fuschof. No wait for lunch many weekdays, staff is friendly, music selection enjoyable. They have a nice patio out back. One of my favorite Ramen spots in NYC.
Omg the spiciest ramen you could get, and we loved it. Went for the spicy vegetarian ramen and trust me it’s actually spicy 🌶️. My wife handles spice very well even she couldn’t finish it. Overall real nice flavor, I can go again just for it. The service was quick and very friendly.
A MUST stop if you are in NYC. We were recommended Ivan and decided to ditch other recs and go here straight! The gyoza and karage were out of this world! Chicken paitan ramen was a warm hug in a bowl in this cold especially! Our server was amazing and friendly. A perfect lunch.
I finally made it to Ivan Ramen, and it completely delivered. The food was precise, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, with each dish bringing something different and delicious. We started with the Yuzu Lemonade. It was bright, refreshing, and not too sweet. It paired really well with everything that came next. The Tonkatsu Pork Bun was excellent. The steamed bun was light and fluffy, wrapped around a crispy fried pork cutlet with plenty of shredded cabbage, bulldog sauce, and garlic Kewpie mayo. Simple but executed perfectly. It disappeared quickly. The Schmaltz-Fried Gyoza was so good. The housemade chicken gyoza had an incredible crispy texture from being fried in schmaltz, with almond taberu rayu and crispy chicken skin adding extra layers of flavor. We didn’t even realize there was dipping sauce for them at first because they were that flavorful on their own. They vanished in no time. The Spicy Miso Ramen was the star of the meal. The broth was deep and rich, with a heat that built gradually instead of hitting too hard right away. The rye noodles had great chew, the soft-boiled egg was cooked perfectly, and the fresh herbs, scallions, bean sprouts, and huge pile of raw garlic on top added brightness and punch to the hearty bowl. It’s one of the most balanced spicy miso ramens I’ve had, with serious umami that kept me going back for more. Service was friendly, the pace felt relaxed, and the casual counter seating kept the focus on the food. I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone looking for satisfying, well-executed ramen that feels thoughtful without being heavy or gimmicky. A true five-star experience.
YUM. So good every time. The chicken paitan and the Tsukumen are things to get here. The karaage is also incredible.
This is my third or fourth time here. It’s always a great time, no matter the time of day or week. I came for lunch today and tried their new spicy veggie miso ramen and it’s honestly some of THE BEST ramen I’ve had in the area and city. As a noodle lover I’m always pleased when a place continues to elevate their menu.
One of the BEST ramen I've ever tried! Before you come at me, I'm referring to a fully vegetarian/vegan ramen - it's hard to come across a delicious, hearty, packed with flavor broth (unless you go straight to the motherland). We came here with a group of friends (shout out to our friend for bringing us here) and we sat in the quieter area to the back with the bench chairs. Loved this little room it's perfect for a cozy night with friends and definitely a lot quieter than the regular room. Of course, this place is pretty small to begin with but attention to detail, service and food flavors is what it's all about. We started things off with the spicy kyuri pickles which were absolutely delicious. The rice vinegar is what gave it that perfect amount of punch without making you feel like you were eating salt and vinegar chips (which I LOVE). Spice level wasn't too spicy for me but it does have a kick. Me and my husband ordered different ramens so we could try the different flavors and I'm SO glad we did. The veggie spicy miso red chili is what stole my heart and lives rent free in my taste buds (they too have a memory hehe). I think that dish was perfectly balanced without being overpowering or too spicy. The biggest amount of spice does sit at the bottom of the bowl and as I was siping my last bits of broth away that's when I noticed my pleasant little wake up call - which again for me it wasn't that spicy since I have a pretty high tolerance. IT WAS SO SO SO SO SO DELICOUS! Hubby's ramen was out of this world in its own way. He ordered the truffled vegan shoyu and WOW. It was one of those broths that can stand alone and make your taste buds dance and go crazy. It was absolutely incredible and one slurp lead to the next. Both of the ramen dishes were incredible - I personally don't eat eggs but even the eggs were beautiful. Absolutely love this place and can't wait to go back. It's definitely a great spot during the winter to warm you up. Bowls are pretty generous and if you're hungry enough you'll eat it all. If you want to leave some room for dessert or grab something else in the area, then you're good to go if you share one. My greedy self would never at this spot but hey, you do you :) One last thing, LOVED that everyone can pay for their own thing at your tables bill using the QR code to split and pay what you want. That way you don't have to awkwardly make your server do it for you and try to figure it all out while that one lemonade someone forgot to pay for etc haha. Super cool feature!
I had one of the best meals I’ve had in NYC at Ivan Ramen. Every dish was a standout. The small plates were perfectly balanced — the potato salad with roe was creamy, savory, and unexpectedly addictive. The ramen itself was spectacular: rich broth, vibrant flavors, perfectly cooked noodles, and the soft-boiled egg was unreal. You can tell every component is made with intention. From start to finish, everything was fantastic.
I first stumbled upon Ivan Ramen three years ago when I lived in the neighborhood, not realizing at the time that it would become my favorite ramen spot in the city. I’ve probably visited every ramen place in New York by now and this one is still hands down the best. I often come back for my go to bowl - Tokyo Shio. It's just that good. The service is always warm and welcoming and the food is consistently excellent. For any ramen lover this place is definitely a must visit.
Delicious spot for ramen and unreal bao. We booked a reservation for the same day but were about to sit at the bar. LOVED the spicy ramen, it’s definitely feeling. They had some popcorn chicken which was great as well as the pork bao… do not sleep on it. I’d pass on the dessert or share it as it’s massive.
Ivan Ramen (yes, the Chef’s Table legend!) did not disappoint, chicken broth has been simmered for 8 hours, smooth yet silky, soft-boiled egg stirred in for that velvety touch, noodles with a perfect chewy bite. Crispy chicken skin + scallions on top = flavor bomb . And I loved those roasted tomatoes! Skin crackly, tangy-sweet and refreshing—such a genius twist! Will definitely return.
DELICIOUS!! My friend is a regular and brought me here the chicken paitan was so good that even a week later I remember the taste of the dish. The tuna appetizer and potato salad were good, but the highlight is definitely the ramen. Came in around 8:30pm on a Thursday and sat down immediately.
Spectacular all around! Everything we tried was delicious. The seaweed kimchi was phenomenal, the ramen - out of this world (every single spoonful and every bite was divine), very interesting n/a drinks and the smoothest cheesecake. Very nice staff. We got there at around 3:45 p.m., and it was nearly empty. Food was served very quickly, and it's very convenient that you can pay through the QR code on your table. We were also really surprised by how low the prices were compared to the quality they offer! If we lived closer, I would eat there every day! Can't wait to go back!
Ivan Ramen is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience ramen like never before! Thanks to a friend for bringing us here and encouraging us to watch the Chef's Table episode featuring Chef Ivan Orkin—a moving story that resonates deeply and is worth watching (grab a tissue and watch before you go!) We went on a night when the Blackbird special was going on, and the ramen was half-price through the app. We ran into some issues with the app, but luckily a representative was there to help. Even though we couldn't get the app working correctly, Ivan Ramen still honored the deal. Great service! Ivan Orkin's dedication to creating a unique culinary experience distinctly shines through in the food. The ramen I enjoyed was absolutely the best I've ever had, even compared to my time in Japan. I savored the chicken ramen, enhanced by roasted tomato, and it was nothing short of spectacular. Accompanying the ramen, we had a delightful serving of the Ivan Karaage, which was beautifully crispy and flavorful—a true highlight of the meal. On our plates but not pictured were the scrumptious miso Caesar salad and a refreshing daikon salad, both of which complemented the meal perfectly. Everything about our dining experience was exceptional, and I can't recommend Ivan Ramen enough for anyone looking to enjoy an authentic yet innovative take on ramen! Update: had to go back again, added some more photos.
The staff were kind and the atmosphere was nice. Japanese ramen was a good choice on a cold day. However, it was too salty, so I had to keep adding water while eating it.
I don’t really understand the hype beyond the prime location. The ramen bowls are just okay — fine if you’re craving something comforting, but nothing special. The space is cute, but the atmosphere was a bit too rowdy for my taste.
I’ve been here 3-4 years ago and didn’t like it very much so I decided to come back and give it another try. I ordered the chicken ramen with extra egg on the side with an Ivan Palmer. The broth was pretty good, but on the saltier side. Not the biggest fan of their type of noodle, it reminds me a lot of soba, although chewier. The Ivan Palmer (iced tea + yuzu lemonade) just tasted like straight up lemon juice and nothing else, I was quite disappointed. Overall, a decent bowl of ramen, but I wouldn’t make the trip unless I was in the area and really wanted ramen. However, the service is very nice and friendly :)
