Opinions de La Mercerie New York
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful! The decor is stunning feels like you are in Europe! Our server Gabriella was so attentive and her energy and vibe was giving a girlfriend who was taking care of you! Her recommendations were great Andy girlfriends and I had an amazing time! The food is rich so it’s good to share and get a variety of meals! I highly recommend the anchovies with bread because it comes with the most amazing vanilla bean butter and also crème brûlée!
It was our first time visiting this restaurant, and we went here during restaurant week. We love the ambience, and the service was excellent from the host to the server. Everyone was accommodating and friendly. We tried one of each on the menu, and everything was delicious except for the duck and the dessert that has peanuts on it. We also tried the cookie, but it was okay and expensive. My husband likes this restaurant, so we will brunch next time.
I went to La Mercerie for my birthday, and it ended up being one of the most memorable dining experiences I’ve had in New York. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous, with that unmistakable Roman and Williams design aesthetic, since it’s located inside the stunning Guild furniture store. The décor, tableware, and overall atmosphere feel chic, calm, and beautifully curated — and the best part is that many of the pieces around you are actually available for purchase. It creates a truly immersive experience that blends dining and design in such a unique way. One detail I really appreciated is that the restaurant is dog-friendly, which made my birthday feel even more special. There’s also a lovely shop inside that carries everything from home décor to thoughtful gifts, so it’s easy to lose track of time wandering around before or after your meal. The food was excellent from start to finish. I ordered the crepe, which was perfectly cooked and full of incredible flavor, and the oysters were fresh, delicate, and a great start to the meal. For dessert, the staff surprised me with a crème brûlée for my birthday, and it was absolutely delicious — creamy, silky, and beautifully caramelized on top. Highly recommend for any special occasion.
We made reservations for the restaurant at 5:45pm and once we arrived we were seated immediately. Our waiter Donald was amazing he took the time to explain the menu since this was my family's first time having French food. I personally enjoyed every dish that came out it was interesting and all the dishes had different textures and flavors. My children and husband on the other hand did not enjoy the food as much as I did. I had Petit Paris as my first cocktail of the night and my son and husband tried the seasonal soda, which I had a feeling wouldn't be sweet so we asked for simple syrup. We ordered PAIN ET BEURRE, BŒUF BOURGUIGNON, POULET FERMIER CROUSTILLANT, GRATIN DAUPHINOIS, HARICOTS VERTS, and a crepe dish with Salmon. For dessert my son had MILLE FEUILLE NOISETTE, and I had CRÈME BRÛLÉE À LA VANILLE. We had a beet dish and a dish that had tiny ravioli which were very delicious. My oldest enjoyed his meal but my youngest did not. My youngest is a very picky so my husband had to switch dishes with him. The beef was soft and pulled apart wonderfully. All the desserts were delicious and the pastries were flaky and soft. My husband has a fermentation allergy so he could not eat the beef since it was cooked in wine. For dessert I also had a chocolate negroni which was absolutely amazing. None of the food was salty so if your palate craves salt you may have an issue. These dishes are definitely for those who want to taste all the natural flavors. Even though my family were not total fans of all the food I would personally come back again.
Brunch here is a MUST for anyone in NYC. Our reservation was for 2pm, we tried to get in earlier but they strictly stick to the schedule. Don't be late either, we arrived back at 2:02 pm and they informed us they had been looking for us. The staff were all friendly and professional and the food was AMAZING. We had the chocolate almond crossing, both quiche options, and the chicken. I will be going again next time I am in town!
If you’re a lover of aesthetics, this is a must-visit spot. The atmosphere is absolutely charming, beautiful tableware, fresh tulips on the tables even in December, and truly wonderful service. All of it makes lunch or dinner feel special. The French onion soup is rich and flavorful, and the crème brûlée is simply divine. Highly recommend for a lovely, memorable dining experience.
La Mercerie feels less like stumbling into a restaurant and more like stepping into a beautifully curated French daydream. Set inside a chic concept store, the space effortlessly blends boutique and brasserie, with refined home goods displayed throughout, some of which you’ll inevitably start planning for your own kitchen before dessert arrives. The floor plan is intentionally snug, but it suits the idea perfectly, dining at the heart of a thoughtfully designed retail space. The menu is unapologetically French, leaning into elevated farmhouse-style plating that lets technique and ingredients speak for themselves. The cooking is confident, polished, and deeply satisfying without feeling showy. Service matches that energy. Attentive, professional, and smoothly paced, it delivers a fine-dining experience without stiffness. Pricing landed slightly higher than expected at first glance, but once the level of service and the quality of the food fully register, it makes sense. La Mercerie offers more than a meal. It delivers atmosphere, craftsmanship, and a distinctly Parisian sense of place, all woven into one beautifully executed experience.
La Mercerie in New York is one of the most beautiful dining experiences I’ve had. The ambience is stunning — soft light, elegant décor, and that warm French aesthetic that makes you want to stay for hours. Every detail feels intentional and romantic. The food was just as impressive: refined flavors, perfectly balanced dishes, and presentation that looked sexy as hell. From the starters to the dessert, everything tasted thoughtful and beautifully executed. It’s the kind of spot you remember long after you leave. Absolutely worth visiting again for both the atmosphere and the incredible food
I came in here to solely try their cookie and chat with my friend, and we had a great time. Located inside of a furniture and home decor store, this restaurant and cafe is beautifully decorated. And, service here was amazing. While I'm sad to say I couldn't catch the name of our amazing waitress, all of the staff here were so kind and I loved chatting with them. In addition, while I was a bit anxious about just ordering one cookie to share with my friend (and no drinks or anything) to chat for a while at the restaurant, the staff didn't make us feel pressured or bad at all for not ordering more. Their cookie was phenomenal by the way. I could definitely see why it's hyped up, and how it's a favorite for many. It's crispy on the outside but gooey on the inside, and absolutely delicious.
Beautiful place. We had a lovely brunch for a birthday. The chocolate croissant were just buttery and freshly baked. I ordered La complete which was delicious. We also got les brouilles which was creamy and soft. Everything was very well done. For dessert we got a crème brûlée and a chocolate chip cookie. Excellent service. I will definitely be coming here again!
Lunching at La Mercerie was a dream come true. A stylish restaurant in a beautiful furniture store is unusual especially as everything can be bought. I wanted the domed onion soup which was piping hot and flavorful. I tore off pieces of the puff pastry which was crunchy and had a balance of textures. Crispy chicken, peas and mushrooms with a sauce followed and for the high price was rather small. But after the soup, I was getting rather full. Dessert was a house made plum, apple and cardamom sorbet. The flavor pairing was unusual. I also took a chocolate chip cookie to go. There is an extensive wine list along with mocktails and coffees and teas. La Mercerie is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even though the menu is limited one can eat well. Service here was professional and friendly. Cole and Charlotte greeted customers and took me to my table. Jamie was an efficient server and Elizabeth, one of the managers was charming. There is a restroom on the ground floor and down the steps at the back. While lunch was expensive, I am already planning on returning.
We’re from Miami, and my friend booked this restaurant as a surprise for us. Honestly, it turned out to be a 10/10 spot to celebrate my birthday with my closest people. Huge thanks to the entire staff — the food was amazing, the cocktails were perfect, and the design of the place is just beautiful. Wishing you lots of success!
I had my birthday dinner at la Mercerie on July 19 with my whole family including my senior pitbull. Needless to say this restaurant and its staff were very accommodating, friendly and the food was wonderful, unfortunately I did not take pictures of the food but it was wonderful The desert as well. We asked if we could sit outside because of the pup and they said no problem and they even moved things around so her stroller could fit at the table. Our waiter was super knowledgeable about the food and gave us advise and recommendations that were spot on. The lovely hostess/ manager? Recognized us when we came back again for breakfast! As a New Yorker, I could have picked another spot in the neighborhood but I was so happy with this place and the service, the pup and I went back for breakfast. I highly recommend this place- and it is beautiful inside!
I really liked the decoration of this place, the kitchen is open and the places to sit are comfortable. The food is really good and tasty, the only con is that there aren’t many choices on the menu. The almond croissant is so delicious! The service is great and they wait until you finish the first dish to bring the next.
We came here just to purchase a chocolate chip cookie, since we read online that it’s a must-try in NYC. While $8 for a cookie is a bit rich, it was extremely delicious (probably the best we had in NYC). The texture was perfect, and the cookie had a nice hazelnut taste to it. I definitely recommend trying it! The establishment is also quite elegant!
I have only great things to say about this place! We had a brunch reservation for my birthday on a Friday, and we chose the earliest time available. When we arrived, the restaurant was still empty, but it quickly filled up after we were seated. Our server (an Asian gentleman) was kind, welcoming, and attentive throughout. We ordered a mocktail, onion soup, crepe, steak tartare, and a dessert. Every single dish was outstanding. Honestly, some of the best food we’ve ever had (and I’m not exaggerating!). I don’t usually go for onion soup at brunch, but I’d heard good things about theirs, and it did not disappoint. The dessert was perfectly balanced: sweet, but not overpowering. We even felt the need to compliment the chef, who we saw working with focus and passion the entire time we were there. I just wish I lived closer to NYC so I could eat there every month (or every week, honestly!). I highly recommend this restaurant, and there’s no doubt we’ll be back on our next trip to the city!
I heard great recommendations about this restaurant online, stepping inside was truly a surprise incredibly French dining experience. We went for lunch and didn’t have to wait for a table. Our family ordered three Fête Du Citron set menus, and we were really impressed. The Avocado Shrimp appetizer was delicious, and both the lobster and chicken from the set menu were excellent. The lobster pie, drizzled with a rich lobster sauce, was especially flavorful. We also ordered the Heritage Chicken, which had great texture and wasn’t dry at all—highly recommended. The only thing I’d complain about is the Lemon Sorbet that came with the meal. It was a bit too sour for a dessert and didn’t quite match the overall taste profile. Other than that, everything was fantastic, and I’d definitely come back again!
Sweet breads were to die for! Wonderful atmosphere. Service was excellent. I would fly all the way from CA to Manhattan just to do it again.

A thick, gooey and at the same time crunch chocolate chip cookie ( 8$). It was absolutely delicious and the perfect size. The only thing I would criticize that the sea salt was all in one spot and was a tad too much but that’s a really small thing to criticize. Also the service was amazing, when you come in the lady at the entrance “takes your chocolate chip cookie order” and it has been brought extremely fast!
I had a meeting in SoHo and was so glad to stumble upon La Mercerie — a serene little slice of Paris hidden in the bustle of Manhattan. My favorite chef, Ina Garten, mentioned this spot on her show last year, and now I completely understand why she loved it. The French onion soup was pure comfort: rich, deeply caramelized, and blanketed with that golden, bubbly cheese you have to break through with a spoon. I followed it with a crepe complète that felt like a warm hug and a pastry so delicate it could’ve floated off the plate. The décor is breathtaking — soft blush tones, gleaming brass, and airy florals that make every corner photo-ready. It’s chic without being pretentious, romantic without trying too hard. The staff was polished and kind, though the pace is unhurried (this is the kind of place you linger, not rush). Whether you’re taking a mid-day meeting or just need a beautiful pause in your day, La Mercerie delivers ambiance, flavor, and that elusive French je ne sais quoi
Visited La M on two separate occasions. Overall it was an enjoyable experience. Dinner: Pate en croute (chicken, liver and pistachio), Boef bourguignon, and special of the day dessert fresh fruit and light cream tart. Brunch: Le cocotte (baked eggs, cream, mushroom brioche), La complete (buckwheat crepe, egg, ham, Comte cheese), Truite Fume (smoked trout with crème fraiche), Crispy chicken, chocolate and almond cream croissant, and special dessert of the day French flan served with ice cream. My dinner highlights were Pate en croute and Boef bourguignon. The pate starter was great, very classic but I wish the pate slice was thicker though, for price point (and because I’m a big fan of this dish). The meat in the Boef bourguignon was tender with a deep and rich red sauce. It tasted like it was cooked for hours. To be honest, I was surprised by the choice of elbow past as its side dish. I don’t think there was enough sauce to warrant such a choice. A flat pasta like a tagliatelle would have been more appropriate. But over it was a satisfying dish, one that I’d order again. For the brunch we liked the crepe and the crispy chicken. The buckwheat crepe was thin and married with the classic sunny side egg, ham and cheese, drizzled with crème fraiche, was very tasty. The chicken was moist and the bacon infused sauce was really excellent. The chocolate and almond cream croissant was heavenly. Generously filled with almond cream, chocolate and topped with almond slices, it can be a meal on its own. The not so great: I expected a lot more flavor from the cocotte. It definitely needed seasoning; the airy brioche was the best part of the dish. The trout dish was ok. I hope the restaurant takes to heart my critique on both desserts. The flan and fruit tart were displayed on the counter so they were served room temperature. They really need to be chilled before serving. Especially the delicate cream in the fruit tart suffered from being served this way. The service was attentive and having a restaurant inside a furniture/lighting store was certainly a new experience. The place is popular.

La Mercerie is a highly recommended French restaurant with a strong reputation, especially around the holidays 🎄✨ — we visited on Christmas and the wait time was extremely long ⏳, something to keep in mind if you plan ahead. In terms of food quality, I found it overall serviceable but not exceptional. We noticed an issue with our wine — some impurities — and despite reporting it to the staff, there was no meaningful response, which felt disappointing💭. All in all, it seems like a beautiful place worth experiencing once, but not necessarily a regular go‑to. The Brunch here is widely talked about and seems to be a highlight ✨. We enjoyed the Six Huîtres de la Côte Est 🦪 (East Coast Oysters), which were fresh and made for a good starter. We also had a soup that might have been the Soupe à l’Oignon ‘Bichon Bichette’ 🧅🍲 (French Onion Soup) or a similar rich broth — comforting and flavorful. Another dish we ordered was a French‑style savoury tart/pastry — something akin to a Quiche végétarienne 🥧 (Vegetarian quiche) with vegetables and cream — which was nicely textured and not overly rich. The main dish I was most looking forward to was the Bœuf Bourguignon 🍖 (Braised French Beef Bourguignon) — unfortunately, this was underwhelming😕. The flavor was quite mild, and the beef may have been overcooked, causing the side components to overpower the dish. We also ordered a Gratin Dauphinois 🥔 (Potato gratin) — nicely done but ultimately just a decent side. Overall, the restaurant’s beautiful ambiance and classic French flair are memorable, but the dining experience was mixed. Next time I’d likely opt for their Brunch service in the afternoon rather than dinner.
What a beautiful place! I tried the chocolate chip cookie after hearing so much about it. It was good, but not for almost $10. Maybe it's because I'm a baker? I do think it's worth a stop if you're searching for the best chocolate cup cookie in NYC.

I took some clients and I picked this location because of the atmosphere and location. I’m Italian and I’m very picky about food Food was good, not excellent, but there is one thing I didn’t like, and gets me upset bread and sparkling water were too expensive ! I’m sorry but You cannot charge $12 for 3 pieces of bread and butte I honestly didn’t ask And $12 for a bottle of sparkling water It’s just insane and so disrespectful Service was great. It’s just the greediness that I can’t deal with I give 2 stars because they need to realize people notice these little things
