Opinions de Manhattan Diner New York
The food and coffee here are both so good. I’m a big fan of the croissant sandwiches and the scones. And they have wonderful syrup options to change up a delicious latte. The staff has always been so friendly and helpful! Happy for this wonderful cafe in the neighborhood.
A few years ago this spot became my go to coffee shop and has stayed that way since. I love the atmosphere and the coffee is consistently good. The service is A+, thank you Angel, Erin and the whole crew. They know my order before I even say it and it’s not like I’m even here everyday.
We were in New york for three days and we taked our 3 breakfast at Charlotte Cafe! Once to take away and the 2 other time, we stayed at the cafe. The employees were very sweet and kind. The coffees were perfect (real coffees!!) and the brioche with cheese, eggs and bacon delicious! Thanks for your smile! If we come back, we know where we’ll take all our futur breakfasts!
Charlotte is the Coffee Place to be in Upper West Side New York. I live in NYC since July 2025 and made this classic and elegant place my Coffee and creative day to day place.
Absolutely adorable place. Coffee was so good and better than anything you can get at a well known chain store. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is lovely!
I’ve been a loyal customer here for years, and this place has always been nothing short of wonderful. The service is consistently warm and friendly, the coffee is the best in the neighborhood, and the pastries are always fresh and delicious. That’s why it was so upsetting to see a sudden flood of negative reviews appear all at the exact same time, many from restricted or empty accounts. It’s blatantly obvious these are fake and not from real customers. It’s sad that someone would attempt to harm the reputation of such an amazing small business in this way. If you’re reading this and feeling unsure because of those reviews, please don’t let a coordinated attack influence your decision. Stop in for a coffee and a pastry — you’ll see immediately why this place has such a strong and loyal following.
Genuinely friendly European Coffee Shop with a solid latte, people who run this cafe chain care about us the customer and I’m glad that I discovered them and I tried all their location so far very very happy to be part of their community. Keep it up guys. Tim
My ultimate favorite coffee shop in NYC. Great coffee, friendly staff, and a cozy atmosphere. This place always brings good vibes whenever I visit.
Toasted croissant tasted amazing ; place is clean and the staff is friendly. They'll whip up an order fast, will be coming back for more ! Also their iced chocolate is such a delish.
Tina was truly incredible. The service was great and more than anything else the community and coffee was exactly what you imagine when you think of the best parts of NYC!
I come here every morning, and I love it. First, the staff is the kindest/nicest people you will ever meet - I consider them my friends. Second, it is a true 3rd space with people I get to say hi to and get updates on their lives each morning as they say hi to my dog. It feels like a European cafe as people sit there reading, working, chatting, etc all through the day. Third, they really know what they are doing with their coffee - truly never had a bad pour there. And their pastries are amazing too. Always recommend Charolette Cafe to anyone in the area! You won’t be disappointed!
Charlotte Cafe is my go-to spot for takeout runs as well as dine-in study/work sessions. The staff here are super friendly, and they always have my favorite orders memorized before I even open my mouth. There are also plenty of food options to accommodate a variety of dietary needs, including gluten free pastries, salads, protein snack packs, and savory as well as sweet snacks. Shoutout to Angel for the wonderful decaf latte today, and to Marla for heating up my gluten free pumpkin spice muffin today, and to Erdi, and the rest of the staff (wish I knew everyone’s names!)
Charlotte is my favorite cafe in the whole city. I’ve been coming here for years, have done my grad school work here, brought dates here, met friends and family members for morning coffees and pastries. Everyone agrees this place is the absolute best. The coffee is delicious, the food is amazing (they have a seasonal pumpkin spice cheesecake that’s to die for). Best of all the baristas are the kindest people— they remember the regulars’ orders. One time they had my coffee prepped before I walked in because my friend who I was meeting told them I was on my way. The owner Vinz let my friend and I take our grad photos here (pic added below!) If you’re looking for a third space on the UWS to work or read or chat or just hang with a hot drink, Charlotte is the place.
I can’t say enough good things about this cafe. The food and drinks are high quality, but the service is really what sets it apart. Angel and Erdi are legends — they handle everything flawlessly and even have managed to memorize everyone’s usual orders. It’s an impressive and personal touch. Great food, great coffee, better people.
I had a chocolate croissant and espresso shot. Great experience. Nice staff. The owner Vince was an incredibly nice guy. I lost my book at the cafe and he used the security cam footage to help me find it. I am also grateful for genuinely caring staff in a busy city.
I adore this cafe to bits and pieces. Angel remembered my order and Erdi made it taste the exact same, even when I came after almost a year. It's my favorite place to be when I need some coffee flavored daydreams. <3
If you're looking for genuinely good coffee and fast bites without compromising on quality, this is the spot. Their espresso drinks are consistently excellent & you can tell they care about their craft. The coffee is smooth and flavorful, not the burnt, one-note stuff you get at chain cafes. Beyond the coffee, they've got a solid selection of quick food options that actually taste fresh. Whether you're grabbing a pastry, sandwich, or something sweet, everything feels thoughtfully prepared. It's the kind of place that gets the fundamentals right, good beans, attentive prep, and a tight menu. Perfect if you need a quality coffee and a proper bite before heading out. Definitely a neighborhood gem.
I went down to the Upper West Side on Thursday and was on the hunt for a cute coffee shop. I'd seen Charlotte Café on Google Maps, and noticed the good reviews. When I went in, immediately there was pleasant music playing and a general warmth. Tina was VERY cheery and personable as she prepped my drink. I ordered a hot medium mocha with a shot of hazelnut and a shot of lavender. It was absolutely DELICIOUS and I definitely plan on visiting again!
After a long day downtown we stopped here for a late dinner. Food was amazing and staff were super friendly, couldn’t do enough for us. Would definitely come back!
A real staple of the Upper West Side. Good service and good location, as they are stationed next to a subway stop. A good variety of food that’s reasonably priced for what they give you. You can have meat and vegetables. There are fish options. They have pasta. Breakfast is available all day. They’ve got burgers and fries, too.
Good quality diner. We visited Manhattan Diner with friends for a quick dinner in June 2025. The interior was stylish for a diner, all the food we ordered was good, and the portions were generous. Service was quick and courteous. My burger, ordered medium rare, came slightly overcooked but was still juicy — fine for a diner. We recommend Manhattan Diner if you’re in the area and looking for a quick, budget-friendly meal with decent quality. Food ordered Fried Calamari Buffalo Wings Grilled Chicken Quesadilla - excellent Tuscany Burger Marinated Chicken Shish Kebab Ahi Tuna Steak - very generous portion Shrimp Scampi Grilled Salmon
I can't tell enough about this place!Went there by pure luck, and it was the best thing that happened to us!The place was cozy and clean!American style as we wanted!Food was large and the quality was truly amazing!!Prices are the lowest we found in NY.Stuff was super friendly...I only feel sad we didn't have the time to visit it again! But you should! *try pasta with meatballs and cheesecake with strawberry!
Delicious lattes and lovely baristas ! My favorite neighborhood cafe ! They also have gluten-free vegan options, although I wish they had even more! They only complaint is that it's always so crowded and busy because it's so popular wish it was bigger!
Service: great. Attentive server. The vibe: cute, cozy, 60s diner. However. The food was NOT it. The waffles were $14 for a single dry waffle (think motel continental breakfast), without maple syrup (?) or fruit or anything other than cold butter packets. We ordered three and finished none of them. Generally the food lacked flavor and was expensive. Best value? The side of corned beef or side of home fries by itself. Also, my eggs were served on my waffle???

A: So Impressed, Would Bring Out of Towners Here.
I had a dinner there the other night. A chicken cutlet with spaghetti. The meal could easily fill three people. Side salad it came with was in its own a stand alone dinner. The plastic wrapping on everything and sneeze barriers somewhat diminish the atmosphere of otherwise very cozy diner. Individually wrapped buns and bread sticks make it feel like a cheaper establishment and not worked with otherwise tasty menu. The next day breakfast was altogether different. I asked for two eggs and two strips of bacon and white toast. Eggs came with the large amount of fried potatoes that tasted like three days old meal and toast was wholegrain I assume. So I carefully separated and ate the eggs and was happy it was over.
Was an average diner experience. The food was ok and the service could have been better. The French toast was delicious and topped with slices of bananas as requested. The home fries/hash was ok nothing seasoned. The environment was a bit unkempt and many high chairs blocking the bathroom hall way. The patrons were nice and no-one was rude. The service was lacking in terms of attentiveness although the coffee server came around often. Wish he was our waiter he was very attentive. I believe overall this was a nice place for a few items we had for breakfast. Service was ok ambiance/upkeep can be better. Not the same as I remember it from many years ago.
The food is extremely overpriced for low quality, mediocre at best food. I ordered a breakfast platter, and the food lacked taste and was cold! Our waiters and host were really nice but the food was straight up disappointing.
I am so gross out and cannot believe I ate this. I stop by this morning at 95th location and grab my usual, ice latte and decided to try the lemon cake. It looks so moist and tempting. My first bite it tasted dry, and offer my friend a bite. That’s when I saw it when she was holding it up, the molds under the cake! This is so disgusting and unacceptable. I am hoping we do not experience any health issue consuming this disgusting pastry. This is a serious health issue. It saddens me the food looks perfect on the outside but cannot trust the set up. Do you check the pastries before serving them or throw away the expired ones?!
The omelettes we got barely tasted of egg, were dry, and had velveeta quality cheese. The pancakes were good. Way overpriced for what you get. When I was making an order the man kept trying to rush me then my husband said they were empty when we he went to pick up the food so I’m not sure why they were rushing me. Will not be returning.
I usually don't write bad reviews but man this place ruined mine and my friend's night. Every little thing costs extra. Paid over 30 dollars for some plain pancakes and two slices of the worst french toast I've ever had along with a couple eggs. The French toast was soggy and tasted like jalapenos. Go to any other diner. I don't understand how this one is so well rated
I recently was visiting the are and stop by this restaurant with my boyfriend. The place was almost empty but as soon as I walked through the door the lady at the front desk was very rude. She kept looking as us as if we were going to steal something. Then the waiter who look indian keep asking me what I want. Not even a chance to look at the menu since I was my first time eating here. I dont understand why they were so unfriendly specially to new costumers. I do not recommend this place!!!!!!
Visited this dinner today, I was excited to try it out specially because had good food photos. I ordered the frittata that came with an absurd number jalapeños! I couldn’t eat it! I flagged this to the busser bc the server never showed up. The busser was really nice and said he till tell the kitchen, but they did nothing. It is very annoying because I had to pay 25+ for a dish that was not able to eat! Just adding a photo as a reference!
Absolutely disgusting food and reprehensible communication with the manager. I ordered an omelette and French toast for delivery today Sunday 4/7 and every single thing was dangerously undercooked. The French toast was so raw that it fell apart in my hands when I picked it up to look at it more closely. It looked like cold, curdled eggs. I’ve never seen French toast look like that. It was clearly put in the batter for way too long, and then cooked for way too short of a time. The eggs for the omelette were so undercooked that you could actually see the egg yolk in between the cold cheese and the outside of the omelette. The cheese was still in its uncooked square form, it was unbelievable to see. AND there were egg shells in the omelette that were visible! Even the hashbrowns were so undercooked that they were all completely white and translucent. There was no sign of them on a frying pan at all. I called to talk to the manager to see if they could replace it, and he did not apologize, he did not offer for it to be replaced, he offered no solution whatsoever. Insanely apathetic, cold human being. He said that it was probably cold, because Uber took too long, even though the issue was not at all that the food was cold, it was completely undercooked. In fact, the Uber delivery person arrived extremely quickly from the location, which is only eight blocks away from me. He said they have their own delivery people, but that they do not deliver that. All they had to do was have one of their delivery people ride eight blocks to remedy a disgusting order, and they completely refused. I would highly recommend not eating here, this place is deplorable.
