Opinions de Mista Oh New York
My group ordered ttoboki with ramen noodles, mandoo dumplings, teriyaki chicken which came with a side of white rice and a small salad with a creme dressing. The strawberry soju was delicious, light and slightly sweet, and the hot green tea had fresh herbs and overall was amazing, felt very relaxing. All the food and drinks were great and the owners were very friendly and helpful which made the whole experience 11/10.
The food was amazing: we had the kimchi pancake (which I highly recommend), mandoo, bulgogi (my favorite) and mackerel. Everything tasted homemade, and it was so flavorful. The service was equally great, fun and caring. This place is a cozy gem, perfect for friends.
I'm leaving this review before I've even left the restaurant because that's how good this place is. The most delicious Korean food I've ever had, wonderful and fast service, a lovely atmosphere. The only issue I have is that it's not closer to my house!!!
You can enjoy delicious Korean food at reasonable prices in a warm and cozy atmosphere. The Korean owner is very kind. I had the kimchi fried rice and galbitang (short rib soup) — the kimchi fried rice wasn’t too spicy and came in a generous portion. The galbitang has a lot of tender meat pieces and perfectly seasoned. It was the perfect dish for the cold weather!
Delicious food and wonderful service. Portions of the galbi was wonderful. I felt like I was having a balanced meal (plus side was that it was presented in the plate method). Seafood pancake? Bomb. Service? Absolutely wonderful and warming. I enjoyed the kimchi. I will certainly be back.
Felt like I went to grandma’s house for dinner. Super cozy and homey with tasty classics: we got the soondubu and pork belly — loved both. Our waitress handed me a bib unprompted because I was wearing a light top. She also clapped for us because we cleaned our plates. Felt like family treatment, it was so sweet.
I went to this Korean place a while back with a group of others. The staff here was very friendly even compared the most other Korean spots checking in on us and making us feel very welcome while the space is adequately big for large groups. From the service to the food, it almost feels like being in someone's home with the cooking almost reflecting this tasting a bit different than most other Korean places with the vegetable mixture in dishes being a bit different such as broccoli and otherwise as well as the spice level being noticeably less but they still packed in other flavors so it wasn't bland in the slightest. To drink, a couple of us split a bottle of Peach Makgeolli which was tasty. From the appetizer section, we had a few. They had a particularly tasty version of Japchae/잡채 for $13.99 consisting of stir-fried glass noodles with mixed vegetables. This had a good amount of sesame oil so it was nice and fragrant with the mixed vegetables having a lot of bell pepper as expected along with some other things. The portion was decent as well. There was also the less traditional Bulgogi Kimchi Fries/불고기감자튀김 for $15.99 listed as potato fries with kimchi, bulgogi, and cheese curds topped with spicy mayo. The fries had a good crisp and the kimchi added some good little sourness and saltiness with the bit of sweet bulgogi being a good touch. Said topping was primarily in the middle of the fries either for presentation or so that the fries don't become too soggy so I would recommend mixing it all before eating. The rest of the people enjoyed the Seafood Pancake (or rather Haemul Pajeon/해물파전) for $19.99 listed as a Korean scallion savory pancake with assorted seafood. The assorted seafood of course had plenty of squid in it so I couldn't eat it because of my cephalopod allergy unfortunately but it looked nice and crisp and came with the usual dipping sauce. My favorite main dish was the Mukeunji Samgyupsal Jjim/묵은지 삼겹살찜 for $28.99 consisting of aged kimchi with braised pork. It was maybe a little bit less spicy than this other places but I didn't mind as it was packed with flavor. The pork belly inside was very tender and the kimchi added some good heat along with some fermented sourness so of course I liked this a lot. I would recommend this heavily and the portion was large. The other people's favorite of the main dishes was the Galbi Jjim/길비찜/매운갈비찜 for $34.99 with red wine & soy sauce braised beef short ribs. We specifically got the Maewoon/spicy version though I think they might have given us the original. The dish was a bit cheaper than usual but the beef inside was very tender and it wasn't as sweet as some other places. I do wish there was still the jujubes and other more traditional stuff inside but it's hard to complain at that price point for a dish that's usually in the $40 range and up. There was also the Tteok Bokki (or rather tteokbokki/치즈떡볶이) for $18.99 listed as spicy rice cake with vegetables. This was the spiciest of the dishes though it was still less so than many other spots. The rice cakes had a good chew to them and the bit of cheese on top reminded me more of the rosé version which has been becoming more popular. This was nice as well. Last was the Grilled Salmon/연어 for $24.99 listed as yuzu-soy miso glazed grilled salmon. This was the simplest prepared dish with two large tender pieces of fish that were well grilled. Honestly from presentation, this could have come from any new American restaurant even with the glaze as many spot add an Asian twist to salmon or cod. If you're looking for something lighter, I wound recommend this. As someone who usually prefers stronger fermented flavors or spicier food, I was surprised how much I liked the food here. There might be other Korean places that I prefer for this reasoning but I would still go back partially due to the staff and partially for I might want more comforting food.
Absolutely lovely! Came as a solo diner and got Japchae and Galbi, and absolutely crushed both. Classic beef galbi, ripping hot on the cast iron skillet, off bone with the right blend of savory and sweet. The japchae was hot and usually I prefer cold but it was delicious regardless! Spoke briefly to Mamma Mia and Ren, the servers, who were so nice too! Hope to come back soon!
I tried the new Korean restaurant and ordered the budae jjigae soup . it was amazing! The flavor was so rich and tasty, definitely one of the best I’ve had. It also came with a variety of side dishes, and every single one was delicious. Great food and a cozy atmosphere I’ll definitely order again!
I love this place. It was my first time there but it reminded me so much of the restaurants back in Seoul and it was a simple, yet friendly atmosphere. The food was delicious. My choice of cuisine was the Chicken Katsu and Fried Mandu. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you want to eat good Korean food in a quiet place.
I love this place. Three Korean women went there on a whim. We thought if we went early (5pm) we would get a table. But it’s Friday and they were fully booked. They accommodated us at the bar which was totally fine. I ordered the fried calamari which was well salted and lightly fried. The gochujang mayo dipping sauce was good. I got yukjejang (a deep red beef brisket soup) that I was craving and it hit the spot. My friends got dolsot bibimbap with tofu and another the galbi tang. We were all very happy with our dishes. The service was friendly like going to my aunt’s house. You can tell it’s family business and they were doing their best to keep up. Sure we called over a few times but that’s a typical Korean way so no worries. They came right over and got us what we needed. The place is cute and homey. I’m glad we tried Mista Oh. We’re already talking about coming back and bringing others. Yes make reservations if it’s Fri or Sat night. Fighting!
This was the first visit to this restaurant which was a pleasant surprise. The spicy beef Stew hit the right notes with tender meat. The Rib eye was adequately sized, but had some unevenly cooked spots. My companion's beef bento box was really good. In general, this place serves authentic Korean cuisine at fair prices. Will definitely return.
We were craving some Korean food and happened to be a short walk away from this restaurant. The restaurant is family run and everyone there is incredibly friendly and attentive. The music was loud enough to hear, but not overpowering like in some other restaurants. The food came out in a timely manner. Everything we had was presented well and tasted even better. The soup that I had was actually spicy. The portions were sharable; I took most of my soup home because i got full off the appetizers. It was a little more expensive than I expected but I'm willing to pay for stellar service and good food. I have saved this to my starred list and hope to come back soon!
Food was delicious, much better than K-town a few blocks up. Servers warn you about spice levels for dishes and politely scold you to grab some candy from their candy bowl at the end of the meal.
The restaurant has a nice aesthetic and cozy atmosphere, but the overall experience left a lot to be desired. First, the menu pricing was confusing — instead of adjusting the listed prices, they add a small asterisk with fine print noting an upcharge. It’s easy to miss and makes the final bill feel a bit misleading. Second, the staff refused to split our check over a small credit-card fee. Most places treat that as part of doing business, so this came across as unnecessarily inconvenient and last-minute. As for the food, it was underwhelming. The japchae (glass noodles) looked and tasted like it had been reheated, and the tofu soup broth seemed like it came from a premade mix rather than cooked fresh. The presentation was fine, but the flavors and authenticity didn’t match the premium prices — my $15 noodle dish and a $20 tofu soup ended up costing closer to $24 after the hidden upcharge. Overall, it’s a visually charming spot that photographs well, but between the pricing tricks, average food quality, and lack of transparency, it feels more like a place prioritizing aesthetics over substance.
We came here for dinner on a Friday night and there's no wait. We got the LA galbi and Bulgogi with the soup on the side. Everything was great and so were the side dishes. I love the LA Galbi but the portion is a bit small. The auntie is so nice and friendly she made all her customers feel welcomed and made sure our food was good. I would say the price of the dishes is a bit higher than I thought it would be. Every meat dish is around $40+ (that's same price point as fancier kbbq restaurants in ktown). Overall, the food was good but they'll probably attract more customers if they lower their prices.
NOT A FAN HERE AT ALL. RUSHED ME OUT AFTER PAYING, even though they placed the incorrect order for me and then accused me for ordering the wrong item?! (People at my table knew I ordered what I wanted, though.) When I finally got my doenjang jjigae (they originally served me soondufu jjigae), the stew was extremely salty and borderline inedible. There is no banchan side dishes served before the meal, unlike most Korean restaurants, which is ridiculous. Despite the fact that they messed up my order, there was nothing but a half-embarrassed sorry and I hated that I was rushed to leave after paying. Spend your hard earned money on better Korean food and service elsewhere.
