Opinions de Danny's Bistro and Cafe Venice
Had a wonderful dinner sitting at the bar! Vibes and service were amazing. Amanda was fantastic and attentive — speaking with her made the dinner even more enjoyable. The food was equally great, as we had the cheeseburger, fries w truffle ranch, caesar salad, fried chicken, and deep dish cookie. Highlights were definitely the fried chicken (the chicken dipped in the hot sauce and paired w the maple butter biscuit was divine) and the cookie (warm and gooey with ice cream). I would definitely come back!
Danny’s is both a neighborhood restaurant and destination-worthy. The food is fantastic, the service is warm, and the atmosphere is vibrant without feeling like it’s trying too hard. The burger is a must, with a strong supporting cast of fried chicken and biscuits (wow), lumache bolognese, agnolotti, tuna crispy rice, hamachi crudo, and an upscale version of hot pockets that will make you nostalgic for your youth. Don’t forget to order dessert — my personal favorite is the cookie skillet, but their sundae is a grand option with a wealth of sides and not to be underestimated.
This has been on my must visit list since it opened. Was lucky to finally get a chance to visit tonight and I already can’t wait to come back. Best for more intimate dinners. The vibe is immaculate. Dark, intimate, chic… the drinks and food were also perfection. I’m not a big salad person, but the kale salad is incomparable. Which is probably why every table had it. Chef Ed has outdone himself… again!
I love Danny’s for all things—a solo burger and cocktail at the bar, a date with pasta and wine, or the start to a girls night. Recommend going now before it gets too hard to get resy!! My current favorite dishes are: 1. The lumache bolognese which is deeply flavored, with the most delightful chewy texture, and hides bursts of bolognese inside 😍😍 2. The burger, it’s the thick kind. It’s unfussy and the pickles and sauce are 👌🏼👌🏼 The cocktails are perfectly executed without being boring. Probably better than most cocktail bars in the city. My current favorite is the amaretto sour (with passionfruit and olive oil). It is sweet and almondy, balanced with the acid of passionfruit, super silky texture, and then there’s a little olive that comes on the side that gives savory and briny and crunchy too!! Final thing I’ll say is the wine list is all-American. You can find familiar Napa names or try something unexpected from Colorado or Virginia. They also have coravin pours, which make it easy to taste something special by the glass!!
This place is brand spanking new but they already have their act together. Delicious comfort food in a warm welcoming space. Great servers were completely on point. Try the hot pockets and the fried chicken. The side spinach was exceptional. And the warm cookie dessert.... don't dare skip that.
There is nothing better than great food paired with great drinks and a classic ambiance. Danny's has it all. The crispy rice, lumache, and brioche-crusted halibut (+ the Internet sensation Ham and Cheese Hot Pocket and House Cheeseburger) were absolutely incredible with each bite better than the last. Don't forget to get both the deep dish chocolate chip cookie skillet and Danny's Sundae as you'll be talking about both for a long time (I promise). The food is so good that the calories don't count here...There's a reason this place is tough to get a resy at. Would recommend to absolutely anyone.
I was lucky enough to snag a reservation before the waitlist gets wild, and wow, this place already feels like it’s been part of the city forever. The space is stunning, warm, and timeless; every detail feels thought out but effortless. I’ve been in the NYC restaurant scene for a while, and you can just tell when a place is going to blow up. Danny’s will. Now, the food. I made the rookie mistake of having a heavy lunch earlier, so I kept it light, deviled eggs, the burger (oh my god, the burger), and a side of asparagus. The deviled eggs converted me. I hate eggs, but I ate them all lol The burger? Unreal. I can still smell it while writing this. It’s been years since I’ve had one that good. Service was warm, genuine, and perfectly paced. Everything was gorgeous. Thank you for the hospitality. I can’t wait to come back before it becomes the hardest table in town, which it will 💙
An exceptional experience from start to finish. We started with both salads, the deviled eggs, and the spicy tuna and smoked salmon over rice. Each dish was fresh and full of flavor, with the smoked salmon standing out as my favorite bite of the night. For the main course, we had the Lumache, the NY Strip, and a burger. The steak had a deep, dry-aged flavor and came with an incredible sauce that complemented it perfectly. The burger was cooked just right and easily ranks among the best I’ve had in the city. Service was excellent. The staff was attentive, friendly, and timed everything perfectly. I finished with an Old Fashioned that was balanced and delicious. Highly recommend.
Where do I start? Everything was exceptional. The Caesar salad was excellent, and the drinks were strong. The Bolognese pasta was out of this world. The skirt steak was just perfect. This is high-end American fair at its finest. Will be back many times !
Really had a great experience! Walked in and were immediately sat, the server Tanner was so warm and gracious. Elevated menu that serves lots of house made pastas and classic Americana dishes like shrimp cocktail, deviled eggs, cheeseburger and fried chicken. At the end it always boils down to execution. All of the dishes at Danny’s were just perfect! Can’t wait to go back.
Dinner at Danny’s is an experience! The ambience is incredible and service is warm, knowledgable, and friendly. We received an excellent wine recommendation and every dish lived up to and surpassed expectation. I highly recommend making a reservation and coming hungry. You’ll be planning your next reservation before you’re out the door headed home!
Chef Ed did it once again - elevating simple dishes with unique, thoughtful touches that make each bite memorable. Beverage Director Alexis curated a standout drink list that perfectly complements the menu. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere was impressively lively for a weeknight. Get in while you can.
I came here with some friends for a dinner after they recently opened, the experience in the dining room was fantastic and the food did not disappoint. Seriously, we tried so much, if it sounds good to you, order it (don’t sleep on the kale salad - a silent superstar of the menu)! Decided to return and try it out for an after-work solo dinner (wine, crispy rice, and burger at the bar). When a restaurant can give you a distinct group dining experience and a solo dining experience that makes you want to come back for both, you stop and pay attention. Come here for a night out with friends. Come here to celebrate an anniversary or a birthday. Come here because it’s your neighborhood spot. Whatever the reason, coming here is the right choice.
Food is excellent. Service. Top notch. They were very accommodating with our newborn. Highlights- Ham cheese pockets are a must. The agnolotti is incredible. The steak was fantastic. Skillet cookie is excellent. Great local place. Low key vibe but elevated cuisine. Drinks are impeccable. They have something special. Will definitely go back.
Food was great! It was very loud, but the food and cocktails were worth it. Make sure to try the Bluefin Tuna Tartare and desert cookie.
Danny’s is such a gem. The food was fantastic, the cocktails were truly amazing, and the staff made us feel incredibly welcome—like we were right at home from the moment we walked in. The ambiance was the best part; it genuinely felt like being let in on a little downtown secret. Everything about the experience was thoughtful and inviting. I’d absolutely go back and can’t wait to return.

I travel to New York City often for work, and after long days darting between meetings, I’m always searching for that perfect spot — the kind of place that settles you back down, eases the mind, and offers a beautiful, gentle end to the day. Danny’s became exactly that for us. The moment we sat down, the chopped kale salad arrived — bright, crisp, and unexpectedly soothing, the kind of first bite that signals you’ve chosen the right place. Then came what may be one of the most comforting plates I’ve ever had in the city: the ham and cheese hot pockets. Somehow playful and elevated at the same time, they were the kind of dish that stops conversation for a moment because everyone just wants to close their eyes and savor. The bluefin tuna tartare followed, impossibly fresh and layered with flavor, and it carried that same transcendent quality — the sense that the day was softening, reshaping, becoming something better. Every dish after that built on the feeling: the spicy tuna over black rice, the house cheeseburger, the rosemary fried chicken, and a cheesecake that felt like a warm hug disguised as dessert. But the best part was watching my eight-year-old son experience those same transcending moments. I watched the happiness lift from his cheeks to his eyes to his whole being as he turned to me and compared that bite — that feeling — to the moment in his favorite film, Ratatouille. Pure joy. I’ve eaten at countless restaurants throughout New York, but this is the first one that truly felt like home. Well done, team Danny’s. We’ll be back.
Danny’s in the Financial District is exactly what you want in a neighborhood spot: delicious food, great vibes, and zero pretension. The fried chicken is insanely juicy with the crispiest crust, the classic burger is simple and perfect, and the nostalgic ham and cheese hot pockets are pure comfort. Don’t miss the kale chopped salad, tuna tartare, spicy tuna on crispy rice, or the pasta—you’ll want to save room for dessert. Behind it all is Chef Ed Tinoco, clearly cooking from the heart. Dessert is a must, especially the chocolate chip cookies with crème fraîche ice cream—so good. The staff is genuinely friendly and such a great team—you actually want to come back just to see them and feel like part of the neighborhood. Drinks are just as thoughtful. Alexis has created a fantastic cocktail list: the martini is a classic standout, the spicy margarita has great heat, and the melon fizz is a favorite. The wine list is carefully selected, with easy-drinking New York wines that pair beautifully with everything on the menu. A true neighborhood gem.

There's a lot of hype around Danny's, and while having a good ambiance and dishes, overall isn't worthy of the hype. The smoked Ora King Salmon rice cake was probably my favorite. The pearl oysters, salmon and rice are always a great combo and was simply delicious. The ham and cheese hot pockets are one of the social media stars and was pretty good. Chewy cheese, honey and hot dough was worth reordering although they do they annoying trick of giving you three and upselling a forth. The Caesar's salad was bland an unmemorable. The biggest disappointment was the rosemary fried chicken. Dry and too salty, it was just a mess. The only redeeming part was the maple biscuit but this was still not enough to save it. Huge fail. Overall, Danny's is not memorable enough and a bit overpriced.
Agh let me start off by saying I really wanted to like this place…. First of all I get easily annoyed when you show up to your reservation ON TIME and they make you wait because the hostess or system didn’t space out the tables properly… like a little wait is fine but if it’s more than 5 minutes, my confusion starts to set in. Maybe that’s just me. Anyway, when we finally sat down and it was time to order, we basically got everything the waitress recommended… another reason why I’m disappointed that it wasn’t good. With the spicy tuna black crispy rice, they put way too much aioli on it so the tuna was drowning/was not the star it should have been. Also, I think they tried way too hard by making it black crispy rice instead of regular rice. The black rice ended up being too crispy and difficult to chew. The ham and cheese hot pockets were basic at best… the 16-month aged ham was thinly sliced and laid on top of the pocket and the four cheese blend was fine but not a stand out. It was truly just something to eat and not something I actually enjoyed. Sorry not sorry. For our mains the Rosemary fried chicken and the Lumache were actually a good pairing that I would order again. The skin was buttermilk fried to perfection while the actual chicken was juicy and tender. I also loved the maple biscuit which was caramelized on top (the way the top of a crème brûlée is). If there’s one complaint it’s that there was more chicken skin than actual chicken on my piece. The Lumache bolognese pasta with parmigiano-reggiano and crispy pancetta was good! I don’t really have any complaints or notes other than it just wasn’t mind blowing. As a side, we ordered the brussel sprouts with parmesan and a pomegranate vinaigrette. Unfortunately, they were so so salty that we sent the dish back. All in all, I’m not racing to go back.
