Opinions de Molly's New York
Popped in for a couple of creamy pints of Guinness after a show. Hostess was brilliant, drinks were great and the food looked amazing.
Lovely Irish bar - quite authentic. Try the potato and leek soup, one of the very few places I’ve seen in New York that do it. Spice bag and cottage pie also worth a mention
Lovely true Irish Pub with traditional food, excellent staff and just a fun vibe.
What great cozy pub!! The atmosphere, the food and the staff are amazing!! True irish pub in mid manhattan I said I will go back and and I have been back twice and going back again soon CDN transplant in NYC here and been to my share of pubs, but this one is a good one :)
Service was excellent. This bar is somehow lively and relaxing at the same time. Very homey. Cute pictures on the wall. The Irish spice bag was perfect. Margaritas were surprisingly good considering it’s an Irish bar.
A fantastic old school bar, super friendly host/staff, warm and welcoming atmosphere - a perfect spot for a few drinks and some great quality comfort food all at a reasonable price. John is a fantastic host and great company for a solo traveller such as myself.
This has the vibe of a neighborhood bar/restaurant. Not hipster or touristy. Me and my wife loved it. I had a thick cut pastrami sandwich. Totally simple. My wife had a Chicken Cesar Salad. The Guinness tasted better than the 6 other bars we hit inside of 3 days. Don’t come here for fine dining. Come here for good times with locals. Great staff. Great food. Great drinks. Great times. Thank you Molly’s!!!
I used to live around the corner and I ate here a few times a week for years. The burger is an absolute knockout, one of the best NYC. Great service and atmosphere. Whenever I’m back in town I always stop at Molly’s for a pint and bite.
Longstanding, authentic Irish pub - with warm service that makes you feel at home. When I lived nearby years ago, I would visit regularly - couldn't go wrong with any dish. From time to time I still stop by and the Fish and Chips are just as crisp and tender as I remember (so hard to find good fish and chips in this city - especially with brown sauce/HP!). It's rare to find a real Irish pub with so many watered down imitations. Molly's is a treat and I'm glad it hasn't changed.
Molly's is a small Irish pub that is very reasonably priced and with great food and service. To rave about burgers and fries seems silly, but they were 100% sirloin, huge and cooked to perfection, as well as the fries. Really good. My husband got the hot corned beef sandwich and it was the most tender corned beef we ever tasted, crazy tender. Of course we had to finish the meal off with Irish coffees.☕ I'll tell you what...stop in if you're in the area. Trust me...you won't be disappointed. Excellent. We'll be going back for sure. My Irish eyes are smiling.
A true classic! Worth it for vibes alone but the food is objectively solid, 2-3x better than your typical Irish pub fare on both the quality and authenticity factor. They serve real corn beef hash here, washed down with Smithwicks on tap. Hard to find despite the million Irish pubs in this town.
The food was great and the bar itself was awesome but Rose was the star of the show. She made our large group feel super-comfortable and made sure the evening as a whole was special (we were celebrating a birthday). Check out this gem in Murray Hill during your next night out.
Molly's always has a lovely atmosphere! The entire place is decorated with fairy lights which adds cozy lighting and a great atmosphere. It does get quite busy so I do recommend planning your night around Molly's if you can. The food is amazing, I come here for the curry chips (french fries with curry sauce) and they never get old. Can't beat Molly's, but I do recommend joining em!
A classic Irish pub complete with sawdust on the floor, Irish music on the jukebox, and a working fireplace. it's a solid spot to grab a pint just based off atmosphere alone, not to mention the mile-long menu of English and Irish drafts. They also serve one of the best pub burgers around. Burgers are huge and perfect, among the best I have ever had! If you come here for the brunch or for a burger, you will not be disappointed. Sit by the fireplace and take in a game or people watch!
Everything you want an Irish pub to be. Fantastic food and drinks. Cozy atmosphere. Friendly, efficient service. Even a gas fireplace! Burgers and shepherds pie are especially good.
I love Molly's. They have the best pot pie in the city and the service has always been great. Last night our server Tara was no exception. She literally never stopped moving. She's a hard worker and still manages a smile. I will keep coming back as it's one of my favorite places in the city!
Very great and local Irish Pub with wonderful food and service! Towering platter of corned beef & cabbage, generous portion of blackened salmon and yummy garlicky garlic shrimp. We sat outside AND they even put the SUNS Bucks game 2 on for me!! (GO SUNS!)
This place is a gem. I work about three blocks away and a co-worker and I come here once every two weeks or so for lunch. The menu is pretty standard issue but the food is great. I've liked the shepherd's pie, curry, sausage and mash, etc. but honestly I usually just get a turkey burger. The only dish I haven't really liked that much is the cobb salad (which is maybe to be expected). The best parts of this place, however, are the ambiance and the bartenders. The interior is cavernous with lots of dark hardwood fixtures--it is so dark inside in fact that when you come out on sunny days you get a little bit dazed. Finally, the bartenders are the best. Very responsive and generous! Piece of advice: sit at the bar, even if not getting drinks! If there isn't room at the bar, sit at the booths across the aisle from the bar. Do your best to avoid sitting in the restaurant section in the back. Why? Usually during the day there is only the bartender and an expediter/busser; on the rare occasion when we have sat in the restaurant the service has been not great---a lot of that section is also out of the eyeline of the bartender, making things even more difficult.
Meat loaf special was awesome. Beef stew was a knockout. Sizable servings. Staff is exactly what you expect. Friendly, Irish folks who are attentive and provide top notch service. The Guinness is among the top pour on the island and the serving temperature is spot on. Must also mention, the craic was 90.
Had an amazing dinner here on our trip to NYC. The corned beef on the rueben may have been the best I have ever tasted and the spice bag was everything I wanted it to be! The best I have had outside of Ireland. Excellent service and a friendly waitstaff.
Have loved Molly’s for years. Some of the best comfort pub food and fine drinks.
Visited in early December great food and the Guinness was top class.
This place has been a weekly go-to since I moved to the neighborhood several years ago, even more so in the winter since they have an oldschool wood-burning fireplace. With COVID, I’ve been more than happy my regular places have gone above and beyond to make accommodations for these trying times. I’ve sat outside several times as well as inside (they have an air purifier), and have never been concerned or questioned my health or safety. These are hard times for all but I’m happy support my local favorites to pull through!
Awesome authentic NYC Irish pub. Was there for about 2 hours on a Saturday afternoon with some buddies and loved every minute. I was sad we couldn’t stay longer. The place is cozy, warm, and inviting. Friendly staff and a great pour of Guinness. It was busy and lively but we were still able to find seats at the bar and have a conversation at a regular volume. We didn’t eat but the food looked and smelled great. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Manhattan.
Great drinks and service, food is good but not great
Place is amazing. I absolutely love their beer their food everything.. Everyone should go here at least once
My friends brought me here for a drink after work and I absolutely fell in love with the place. The staff is so warm and inviting. They treat you like family. The drinks were pretty strong. We ordered martini's and the 1st one had me feeling buzzed. Totally worth it. We ordered some food and it was tasty as well. It's a warm comfy feeling sitting in there. I would definitely return again. Our waitress was Joann and she was great. Even gave us a hug goodbye.
Food and service was great. First time here, would definitely come back. The Guinness stew and Shepherd's pie was delicious
What a gem to stumble upon on Christmas Eve. Loved the charm, friendly staff, tasty food, and plenty of holiday warmth. Highly recommend this Irish drinking establishment and even more so for the tasty morsels. French onion soup hit the spot with all the gooey cheese. We can see why thr Shepard pie is so highly recommended.
I came across this charming place via a yelp search. Their dishes combine good flavor with attractive arrangement. Customers who appreciate ambiance will feel at home here. Fast service with careful attention. I recommend giving this place your time.
Was there last week 5/2021, and the mussels are back on the menu, thanks to the Angel named Joanne! She's wonderful and the staff makes you feel welcomed. They care about your experience, and hopefully you care about theirs. They deserve great customers. My buddy had the burger and was in heaven. Thrilled to see these mussels back on the menu! The outdoor structure is well made with heat lamps and sunlight. Wonderful place, makes NYC what it is.
love this place! Fair prices and amazing service. Drinks were amazing with a great bartender. BIG portions and was very tasty
One of the most authentic Irish pub restaurants I’ve been to. Not only is the food amazing (try the pot pie—you won’t be disappointed!) but the service is incredible! Everyone there is so nice and welcoming. It’s a huge change of pace from some other restaurants in the area. Not to mention it was all decorated with lights for Christmas and was just darling. 100/10 would recommend and will be returning!
Nice neighbourhood place, great tradional Irish food and friendly service ! Worth a visit.
Originally planned to go across the street to Rolfs but as usual, the line was down the street, so we came here. Not disappointed!! It was packed and 2-3 deep at the bar. The wait to get a beer was 15min, but we had great time chatting with everyone and passing the time away. It was too long of a wait to eat, but the burgers looked pretty good! Going back to find out!!!
Had to take a bite first before the review! Excellent food and great atmosphere! Bison burger was definitely a great choice and the bunch special on sunday is perfect for a rough night before. Cozy bar and definitely get the feeling of a great family irish pub. Keep up the great work! I will be back!!
A NYC institution! I have been going here for over 20 years and Molly's consistently has the best Guinness, burgers, and Irish breakfast in New York. An amazing vibe with fantastic food, this authentic Irish pub is simply without compare. Go and check it out and you won't be disappointed. Other items of note: fish & chips, chicken wings, the burgers (again & again)... Pretty much the whole menu is fantastic.
Classic Irish pub, we were greeted by the owner who was very welcoming. Stoped by for a quick bite, ordered a grilled chicken pesto sandwich and a glass of white wine. The Sandwich was delish! It was served with nicely seasoned French fries and pickles. Tara was great! I would certainly recommend.
From the outside Molly’s looks a bit kitschy and unmemorable but as soon as you enter you know you’re somewhere special. It’s the warm glow, the old wooden everything, the perfect pour of Guinness, the chat with the bar maid from N. Ireland, the SPICE BAG and the Irish curry that lingers - all perfect. Good golly Ms MOLLY!
If you’re not at Mollys, are you even living? No, but seriously, are you? I ran into this place a few years back just looking for a quick pint of Guinness and I left 5 hours later with a belly full of fries with curry sauce and about 15 Guinness. This may be one of the most top tier cozy Irish pubs in NYC. Staff is so welcoming and they constantly make sure you are happy. Come during the holidays and see the Christmas lights!
First pints here were in 1988. Was a regular stop for a pint and occasional meal during the next 22 years of living in NYC. The wife and I happened in by chance during a recent return to the city, and hung out for hours telling stories and meeting new friends. A classic NYC Irish pub that is a step above. I cannot wait to return.
Dave was as welcoming as could be. Your classic, quintessential Irish pub. Authentic. Everything looked great. The shepherd’s pie was perfect, especially paired with a coffee.
If you want to walk over a few avenues and get out of the midtown blast of high end food or overpriced chain food, come to Mollys. Typical Irish pub with AMAZING food. Burger and Reuben were delicious. Wings were as solid as a top notch wing spot. Meaty, juicy, large plate. Guinness was fresh! And the staff Joanne was as nice as they come. Go to Mollys
Oh my god. This place is so cool. Amazing tavern atmosphere with low ceilings and dim lighting making it super rustic and cozy. I had a chicken pot pie here that rocked my entire world and can’t wait to eat again. The service was alright and everything else was super stellar. A perfect package of a restaurant. Definitely recommend for a good meal and a lively atmosphere. I came here on a Sunday in a party of two for dinner and was seated with no wait. The football game was on and lots of people were gathered at the bar to watch the game on their two big screen tvs. 10/10 would eat here again.
Nice little find! Some traditional Irish dishes, all home made, food was really nice! Staff were superb, so helpful and friendly! Such a lovely, bustling atmosphere! Highly recommend!
I have enjoyed this pub for years. Back in the day, the wood shavings on the floor, the dark wall, great food, drinks, and intimate spacing made for a perfect pub atmosphere. The only things that’s changed is the floor is now clear of shavings; damn that fire code!!
I visited during mid-December, and it was a great experience. Notably, it was packed, but that was also expected based on the time of year. Luckily, I was able to get seating and had Tara as our waitress. She made a great food recommendation (but all food ordered at the table was good as well), and her service was fantastic. 10/10 would recommend.
Went for a lunch break and they had a nice crowd and atmosphere as it was holiday season. Their fish and chips were hearty, fresh and crispy. Tartar sauce was great. And, I ordered a side of curry for extra dipping, which I highly recommend if you like a bold kick. Can’t wait to come back to try more of the food menu as it looks like authentic Irish cuisine.
We had a great time here! Everyone was incredibly friendly, the burgers and onion rings were perfect for a cold day. Our drinks were perfectly made and the bartender was so sweet and kind. The Christmas decorations were outstanding! What a way to get inspired for the holidays!!
Was waiting there for our table to open Thanksgiving Day at Rolf's. Decided it was the best place to pop the question.. She Said Yes..Ashley the bartender told us that they have had numerous proposals at the bar. Very kind staff and amazing atmosphere. We will be back year after year to celebrate. Laura and Scott
Great Irish Pub in NYC! I was in town for a work event and I had a day off. As a player of Irish Sports, I wanted to visit a great Irish Pub in NYC and the reviews on Reddit all pointed to Molly Shebeen's. After a stroll through Madison Park, I made it to Molly's and was greeted with a smile from the bartender. I ordered a Guinness to start and it came out cold and quick. I looked at the menu and because of the rainy day, Shepherd's Pie seemed like the ticket. My food came out in less than 10 minutes and it was hot (the bartender warned me). It was delicious and hit the spot. No BS ingredients, hearty vegetables, good size chunks of ground beef, and very delicious. I also appreciated all the Gaelic sport photos and Irish Cultural items on the walls, and not a bunch of green shamrocks and leprechauns. Thank you for the Guinness, the Shepherd's Pie, and Slainte!
Yum! A great spot for comfort food and drinks that's open pretty late! The atmosphere is cozy and has pretty lighting, and there's both a bar and separate tables. The kitchen seems like it closes at 12am, so do keep that in mind (the bar is open quite a bit later). I got the sausage with mashed potatoes and gravy and it was delicious! The gravy was rich and flavorful, the sausage springy and juicy, and the mash teetered on the perfect balance between creamy and fluffy. Loved the onions on top too! Everything together made for some wonderful bites. A comforting and hearty meal for sure. I didn’t order any drinks this time but I would imagine that a tall glass of beer would've completed the experience. Maybe next time! Update: I came back and tried the fish and chips with a couple of beers. Also really good! The batter was crispy and the fish was tender and juicy. The tartar sauce was delicious, sweet and tangy, although I do wish it came with some more. The guiness beers had the perfect layer of foam on top of them too!
Holy "Hole in the Wall" Batman! Molly's is a cozy little pub offering drinks and food with an old worn out wooden bar top and booths carved into a small opening on 3rd Avenue. Serving up classic Guinness stout's there's just something about enjoying a Guinness so much more in an authentic Irish setting like Molly's! The food was just as authentic, our burger and special beef brisket sandwich with onions were both served up meeting high marks in all categories. The burger was cooked as ordered, filled the toasted bun with a thick, juicy, flavorful, nice cut of meat, lettuce onion and tomato, too. The special brisket sandwich, also nice and tender, juicy, in a tasty gravy smothered in onions and piled on a toasted ciabatta bread, so delish! The onion rings cooked perfect and the accompanying curry sauce was a pleasant surprise to dip French fries into! Give Molly's credit for taking a basic dish and making it correctly in their own way, so you can enjoy right to the last bite. The lady serving(Aisling)was quite a marvel, she clearly knew what she was doing, serving up drinks at the bar and waiting tables too...only few in this business could do so smoothly and efficiently like her, almost without effort( others should watch and learn). You'll love the warm cozy atmosphere this place radiates! Erin go bragh!
Very cozy place . Staff was very friendly and attentive . Had the burger with onion , sautéed mushrooms . The add on’s were soo good . The burger was very simple otherwise . Felt like there could have been more fat to give it more flavor . Deff have had a better burger in my life before . But truly I enjoyed the simplicity of it . I would happily come back . It really is a very comfortable atmosphere .
The perfect spot to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, this place has got so much historic character! We were lucky to snag a table and were well attended to by a lovely server who managed incredibly well on such a busy day. We had a really nice corned beef sandwich with nice crispy fries which was washed down by a perfect pint of Guinness. I look forward to trying again on a slightly less crowded day.
Excellent establishment. Guinness was perfectly poured. The food was authentic Irish American pub food and some of the best you will ever have. The chicken curry over rice and fries was solid but the Shepard’s Pie stole the show. The staff was friendly. Music was nice. Will be going back soon
Nice neighborhood Irish pub nearby Gramercy Park. As soon as you enter the bar you will see a large bar area that takes up half of the space. The bartenders and servers at the location are very inviting and friendly. I ordered a cheeseburger and onion rings to go. I was thoroughly surprised with the way they packaged my burger, they had deconstructed my burger and packaged everything separately. It's was a nice and thoughtful touch as the hamburger buns did not get soggy, the burger patty itself was cooked to my specifications and in its on container sitting in its own juices awaiting to be assembled to form the burger. The onion rings while very oily and greasy were by far the stand out dish of the evening, this establishment knows how to do their beer batter right for frying. Everything about the onion rings was on point, the slight hint of Curry powder in the batter was a nice touch. I look forward to returning to Molly's for another one of their entree items. At almost 20 dollars for the burger the price is a bit high. But you will be getting some quality eats here!
Molly knows how to entertain. Molly is your old school sawdust on the floor Irish bar. Service is friendly and with a smile. There was a group of us for a birthday meal and our server was quick witted funny with great service. Good selection of beers and on tap. You have your usual suspects of fish & chips and shepherds pies but surprising vegan friendly also (we had some in our group). The wood interior is rustic pub feel. It is not over loud except for probably during St. Patty’s but I’d probably avoid it at all cost anyway. Everyone had a great time. The food was solid. Good service and the birthday boy had a good time.
Fabulous burgers and Reubens, straight up drinks are short. Parking is very tough
Stopped in here for brunch as we gave up looking for places that didnt have ques out the door ( we visited on a busy period) food was fresh and homemade with good portion sizes but pretty average taste wise. Service was slow to get food and to get the bill but there was only one waitress working and it was busy so im guessing she could of used some help. I liked how it was decorated with all the lights inside it made it feel festive and cosy.
A true gem and a delightful throwback to a bygone era! The moment you step inside, you’re instantly enveloped by the charm and rich history of this wonderful establishment. While I came for the lfish and chips, I found myself completely captivated by the incredible atmosphere. The nostalgic 70's and 80's tracks set the perfect vibe, making the experience feel both cozy and lively. The fish and chips were very good—crispy, golden, and perfectly cooked, just as you’d hope for. I also had the pleasure of trying the corned beef sandwich, which, while slightly drier than I anticipated, was still flavorful and satisfying. The real star of the meal, however, was the introduction to the English mustard—its bold, tangy kick elevated every bite and left me wanting more. This place is a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience filled with great food, fantastic music, and a warm, welcoming ambiance. I can’t wait to return and explore more of the menu!
I live in the area and walk by all the time but never took a moment to stop in mostly because I could never see inside without stopping to look through a little creepy window. I met my friends here for dinner and a drink and it was very cute. They had lights everyone for the holidays I suppose and the very authentic sawdust on the floor. We ordered a few drinks and mine were well mixed. I got virgin drinks but my friends ordered wine and other cocktails. We ordered food and I was pretty happy with mine. I ordered the chicken sandwich with fries and the only complain I have is that the chicken was a bit over cooked and tasted a bit rubbery in the sandwich. Other than that the flavor was good and so were the fries it ordered. I would come here but avoid the chicken. The staff was nice but messed up the order sometimes which I’m fine with. If you’re more picky then probably not your place.
Molly definitely has the common Irish pub vibe! Dark and cozy! I'm glad my four cousins and I got a good corner table on a Saturday afternoon because it did get busy later on. I think most customers came to watch a sports game. We ordered a spice bag, full Irish breakfast, shepherds pie, and sausage to share. I personally didn't love the food as it was a bit bland. I've had better Irish food in other NYC pubs, but it was decent in portion size and taste. It seemed like there was only one waitress so she was pulled in different direction often. The women's bathroom was clean and quite spacious. Perhaps I'll return for a Guinness one day to try their pour but probably not for the food.
I first visited back in 1988 and used to stop by regularly for a pint or a meal over the years. On a recent visit to the city, my wife and I dropped in again. While the pub has a classic NYC Irish vibe, I was disappointed this time—service was slow, and the atmosphere felt a bit worn. We still hung out for a while and met some friendly people, but overall it didn’t live up to the memories. I’m not sure I’d rush back.
Came here for brunch. Went inside told the bartender I’m sitting outside. Then the bartender said he will came out in few minutes. I waited 20 minutes no one came to serve me and there is one lady server kept walking passed by me. She didn’t even asked what I want to drink did I order yet. Noting! and the table and seat was so disgusting and dirty. Yuck! First time and last time! I will post it on my blog. Chao , bye! Good luck!
It seems all the people who can’t get into Rolf’s line up to come here. We were a party of 7, and we figured we would stop by here. We waited a while to be seated and were ignored a few times. We were seated towards the back in their round table. Well after being seated it took a while for our waitress to recognize us and she was pretty rude to us throughout our stay. She only checked on us once, and kept trying to drop off the check even though we kept ordering food and drinks, and when we would ask her something she would roll her eyes, she seem annoyed by anything we said. Our drinks were okay, and the food was not good. It felt very low quality, it tasted like your average dive bar food. Now, we went during the holiday season so I’m not sure if they had the decorations to be festive, or if it’s an all year round this like Rolf’s, since again Rolf’s is next to them, and again a lot of people who can’t get into Rolf’s go to the next available spot which is immediately here.
Burger was raw sent it back put it under heat lamps so much so it was absolutely inedible. Used to be a go to spot and will not be back. It really depends on who is working on whether or not the food will be good that day.
