Opinions de Mozzarella & Vino New York
From the moment you enter Michael’s in midtown, you feel something different. You realize why certain places are deserving of the title “institution”. This decades-long power dining restaurant is a class above the rest. From the cozy decor to the amazing art collection, to the attentive and courteous staff led by dining legend Steve at the helm as manager to the decadent expertly prepared cuisine, this place is deserving of every single accolade. We started with a few craft martinis (my friend’s up, mine extra dirty) and went into the Korean chicken bites, caesar salad, burrata special and tartare for apps and I ordered the chefs lamb for my main with a side of delicious broccolini. The team brought out a full spread of desserts which was far too much but if anything it showed that they are willing to go above and beyond for their clientele. Will definitely be back next time I’m in the area. Thanks team!
We werent sure where to eat before our show and noticed Michaels and decided to go in and was a great decision. The restaurant itself is beautiful with retro red art on all the walls, service was amazing we sat at the bar . We were not able to dine in but enjoyed their happy hour options the Korean Fried chicken was delicious and Duck Bao Buns. Will definetly return!
Some colleagues took me here and told me about its California origins and Michael’s history himself and then he actually stopped by the table. It was lunch and I had a magnificent Cobb salad. Staff and environs wonderful.
I had the perfect dinner here for Valentine’s Day! Great food, atmosphere and staff all around. Appetizers to dessert was all delicious. I am not even a fan of Kale but even their Kale Caesar Salad was so tasty; I finished it. I definitely recommend this place.
Big fan of Michael's. Worked in the area for several years and had great business lunches a few times a year. Because I lived in a different part of the city, I never thought to try it for dinner. Recently, I was looking for a classic NYC fine dining restaurant in midtown good for families with kids for a family birthday celebration. A friend suggested we try Michael's and they delivered! The lovely hostess made it magical for our kids upon entry, we were treated with the table in the window, the food was fresh and tasty and the kids loved it! There is not a kids menu but they will do kids pasta, simple burger, steak, chicken, etc. One of our kids - the pickiest eater - ordered a butter pasta and said it was the best they ever had. We all tried it and agreed, had to order another! There is a pretty limited wine selection but all were very good. Beer selection could be improved. The classic room has been the setting for many business deals and I have fond memories of a few, enhanced by our recent family experience. Love the laid-back but first-class vibe and unpretentious service. Highly recommend!
Michael's is the perfect fine dining experience. I came here for my mother's 40th birthday and I really want to thank the staff for making it memorable. A complimentary birthday cake was given to us and the staff sang her happy birthday. The setting is luxurious and the wait staff have everything down to absolute perfection. The margarita pie was warm and cheesy and the fish was well seasoned and presented. I want to thank the manager Basdeo for making our night so special.
The food was good and the staff was superb. The dining room is also beautiful. We went for a weekday lunch and it was very much a business crowd. The vibe is borderline stuffy, but the staff was so kind that their warmth offset that.
I went in there for lunch. Great burger, it was a ground up ribeye steak. One of the better burgers I’ve ever had. I was in there early so it wasn’t very busy. I would certainly revisit this place when I am back in Manhattan
Very nice stylish restaurant with great art work. Loved the atmosphere
Classic NY power breakfast! Went on Juneteenth holiday, so it was easy to get into and to enjoy. First class food and service at business class prices.
Incredibly consistent expense account breakfast spot. Literally the only choice in midtown for a high end power breakfast
Michael’s still has its charm. From the moment you settle into a comfortable chair, you’re transported into a different world—one defined by relaxation and understated culinary mastery. The food is consistently fresh and perfectly seasoned, and the winter specials are an absolute must-try. The wine selection is equally impressive, with an award-winning list that always delivers. On our visit, we enjoyed a memorable 2007 Chambolle-Musigny. Service is excellent—attentive, knowledgeable, and present when needed without ever feeling intrusive. A place I truly love and one I’m always happy to return to.
I had an outstanding 5-star experience at Michael's. The food was flawless, earning a perfect 5-star rating. The service and atmosphere were also very strong, earning 4 stars each, which created a professional and inviting environment for an exceptional overall meal.
Came in first time for our 20th anniversary… Couldn’t have been more impressed! Absolutely fantastic experience! Food was excellent, and staff was attentive and very engaged! Loved it! Will definitely be back!
Came here for a dinner with colleagues. It's almost Halloween so the decor was themed artistically and was nice. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share and they were all solid. I got salmon for my entree and it was really juicy and nice.
Absolutely love this place—our new favorite spot! Every bite is delicious, with each dish offering its own unique twist. The service is excellent from start to finish, and we appreciate the round tables that make group dining feel cozy and connected. Even though it is crowded, the noise level is perfect for conversation. Can’t wait to go back
A great night out all together. Starting with a warm welcome at the door, the night continued to get better and better with lovely food and wine served by friendly staff in a beautiful setting.
Stumbled upon this place while on a work trip. AHHHHMAZING!!!!!! I had the fish special "skate with ramps". The sauce was maybe a buerre blanc, not sure but wow! For dessert I had Eton's Mess. A delightful mix of berry compote with vanilla ice cream, fresh cream and crumbled meringue. Service was top notch from the hostess to our waiter. Atmosphere was lovely and dimly lit with candles. I'll definitely be back. 10 out of 10!
Went to this restaurant for lunch before a visit to MoMA (right across the street). The mozzarella salad w/prosciutto was outstanding. We also enjoyed the chicken panini sandwich. The perfect lunch combination. We did not opt for dessert but enjoyed the complimentary biscotti with our post lunch tea and coffee! The service was excellent and the restaurant is just a lovely space to take a little break from all the energy of the city.
So delicious, great atmosphere, kind staff. Had a wonderful time!
The waitress Alejandra was very kind and welcoming! And so were the rest of the employees!
The food was delicious and very friendly service.
There is plenty of excellent food to be found in New York, but we had The Best Lunch we've had in years after spontaneously popping into this fantastic restaurant. Incredible service and atmosphere, and above all, magically delicious authentic Italian food and wine. Our waiter gave us great recommendations for both food and drink, and we can absolutely recommend this gem of a restaurant!
Been a few years since we have been there, however; knowing the attention of George and his very professional team, nothing but service excellence! Looking forward for a surprise visit. Love from Australia. XO Edward & Mark
I went to Mozzarella & Vino to experience diner and I have to say that I spent a really good time. My friend and I were given good advice as to which wine to choose and the plates were matched perfectly to the wine... We had a classic tasting of Buffalo Mozzarella, buffalo provola and burrata served with cherry tomatoes as appetizer. I chose the chickens medallions flavored with black summer truffles, served with French beans, fingerling potatoes and organic cherry tomatoes as main course, and the tarte du mascarpone tiramisu style as the desert. The food was freshly prepared and it was delightful. The service was really good too. Mozzarella & Vino is definitely a lovely place to enjoy good food.
The design of Mozzarella & Vino" restaurant is very simple and upscale. The soft lights and classic music was great for our dinner. My friend and I started started with wine Vermentiono Di Gallura. I would say it was very good decision to trust the server's suggestion. Our waiter, as I knew later worked here for long time, had a pretty good taste of food. Our appetizer had 3 types of mozzarella: buffalo mozzarella, smoked mozzarella and burrata. It was one of the most delicious mozzarella I have ever had . All type of Mozzarellas in the restaurant are from Italy. I would say they truly deserve to be known in New York for the Mozzarella cheese. Our entree was lasagna. The server mentioned that it was one of their specials for today. The lasagna came very warm and delicious. I was very pleased with the taste of lasagna, because it contained mushrooms. An interesting combination. We finished our dinner with dessert. It was one of my favorites Carrot Cake topped with rabiola cheese and mascarpone mouse. To be honest, I wasn't sure how cheese as an ingredient would make dessert sweet and delicious. Believe me, the restaurant surprised me when I tasted it. It was not just sweet but very light taste. The Service was very polite and friendly. The manager visited our table a couple times to make sure that we are good. It gave me feeling that they have high respect for their clients. In the end of our dinner we were introduced to the owner of the restaurant, Gianfranco Sorrentino. He is a nice man with friendly and open personality. And he also gave us advice us to visit their other restaurant Leopard des artistes I would definitely follow his suggestion. If you would like to try different types of mozzarella, light dessert with couple of good wines, you should definitely visit "Mozzarella & Vino". You will be so pleased with the service, atmosphere and of course, their delicious food.
Food is ok, not spectacular as I had expected from previous reviews. The tomato was very good, but the rest was not very tasty. Service was great, the waiter’s was very attentive. The chair was badly worn and is in need of some tlc. It was not very busy when I was there.
It seems like making a reservation is the best idea. We visited for lunch, and it packed up quite quickly. The food was okay. The service was good.
Just reopened. Still needs some finishing touches like pictures on the wall and isolation from service areas to the restaurant. The burrata samples was great, leave the smokey one for last. The burro & salvia gnocchi is a bit pretentious. Look at it and you will understand. Wine prices are very descent! Service was friendly and really nice.
Located right across from the MoMA, this is a wonderful spot for a relaxed yet refined lunch. The restaurant features a unique layout: a bright, narrow dining area in the back and a spacious upstairs. We began with a perfectly balanced Negroni, prepared by a very nice bartender, followed by the Insalata di Mare—a fresh medley of calamari, mussels, and shrimp over organic greens and oven-dried tomatoes that works beautifully as a shared starter or a light main. For our main course, we shared the Gnocchi Alla Romana with sage and brown butter alongside the Brasato (Barolo-braised beef) served over creamy polenta. Both were exceptional and paired perfectly with a crisp Etna Bianco. We finished with espresso and biscotti, rounding out a fantastic meal. The service was attentive and professional without being overbearing. Highly recommended.
Small and cozy restaurant. Nice ambiance. First off : I hate tomato sauce. I usually opt for white cream sauces rather than pomodoro sauces… but I had to take a chance on the tomato sauce since they didn’t offer cream sauces, it was the best decision I ever made! That sauce on the four cheese ravioli that the chef served was by far the best sauce I ever tasted. Ever! I definitely would go back.
Nice Italian restaurant, just blocks away from Rockefeller Center. Lovely atmosphere. The calamari was great, highly recommend. Citrus avocado salad was also good. Lasagna had good flavor but I’ve better. FYI that menu didn’t have too many pasta options. The Tiramisu and cappuccino served with biscotti was delicious. Service was slow, not very attentive but nice. Would I come back, possibly but I think I would explore other Italian restaurants to compare.
