Hands down my favorite restaurant in town. Been going for years and the food never disappoints. I was a little disappointed when they didn't acknowledge i was celebrating a special occasion there with my newly engaged fiancée, even having notified then twice prior to our arrival. But the chicken satay and lychee martinis will always have me coming back

Food & service was amazing! Not your typical Chinese restaurant. This upscale Chinese restaurant offers delicious flavors in their meal. Best Noodles’s I’ve ever had, the lobster & steak was delicious. I also loved the spare ribs.

The best experience of my life because while I coming in to dine. Two couples were leaving but we were chatting it up, I advised them this place was on my bucket list. When they left the maitre’d came over and advised me the people who were dining left of me. Paid for EVERYTHING AND THERE WAS NOTHING OFF LIMITS FOR ME TO EAT. Amen! Thank you 😘

My 1st time and sorry I took so long to get here. The service was beyond comparison. The staff were gracious and attentive. The food while not my palates desire was excellent. Glad my lady brought us.

The food was Devine, I enjoyed every bit of it, the lamb was exceptional, the drinks were great it was my birthday, my husband called and made reservations, so I expected "more". At least a reserved table or maybe a rose, something that would or could make you feel special there, for the effort of getting there

This place is pricey but the food is great! It was a great experience. I went a friend for Restaurant week and we had a great time. We even got to see one of the chefs make fresh noodles. This was a great experience. We even saw Richard Simmons inside.

My daughter wanted to go here for the longest time.. it is packed 24/7 so make sure you make reservation. Don't expect to sit unless all you guest arrive. Food is great and service is very efficient. Sometime you feel that you don't get time to eat and relax as waiter cekar everything quicky and then they want the table back after you pay quicky, which is expected as it is packed. Again be prepared to pay good money for the food. It's certainly is a must if you like Chinese.

Absolutely amazing. I arrived early for a dinner meeting and was greeted by a most genial host and hostess who entertained me. Sat at the bar and enjoyed a drink while waiting for my companions. We were 4 and we had a variety of appetizers and two main courses....one dish was better than the next. I will definitely go back.

Mr. Chow . . . Thank you sir! What a wonderful time enjoying our family style meals. Although every dish was amazing, I especially enjoyed their hot sauce. If not already happening, this miracle sauce should be bottled and sold. Amazing.

AMAZING Resturant and incredible service!!! I have never seen such great customer service!! Miguel is the BEST and Kevin the general manager is excellent! We came for a birthday dinner and the way the staff accommodated our group was unbelievable. They were organized, so nice, and honestly made our group feel so comfortable. The food was AMAZING!!! Literally my mouth couldn't stop eating everything, especially the shrimp!! Overall A++++ Mr.Chow hands down has the best food and excellent restaurant staff I have ever come across! Can't wait to go back! Thank you again to such a wonderful staff!

Just amazing. The food was amazingly fresh. Its like they picked the veggies that morning. The pot stickers had so much more depth than any others I've ever had. The duck was great! Crispy skin. Plenty of fat. SUPER tender meat. The Lobster was a work of art.

Amazing food and amazing service. My bill was Pricey 588 bucks, only cause I ordered 11 different dishes. No wine ordered. All food! It was awesome. Ignore these reviews from the broke people who simply can not afford Mr. Chow!

By far our favorite place. It’s such a staple for any high end Chinese food. Any special occasion we can make an excuse for we will be there. The people are great. The waiters have been the same people for more than 10 years that we’ve been going. At this point we all know each other and we don’t even need the menus :) Don’t change. Keep doing such good work.

Comming from someone who has dined in some of the finest restaraunts east to west , and even across Europe to Asia. I can honestly say the atmosphere inside Mr chows is unmatched. This is not for everyone , but anybody who is anybody appreciates the service and quality of the food and ambience created. The general manager Miguel treated me and my party of 3 like royalty and even helped guide us through the menu options and aswellnas mention some personal favorites of his. all allergie precautions relating to food were met which made our experience that more comfortable . The professionalism and style In which miguel is able to convey through direct questions and simple answers makes you realize just how special he is. this place can't be compared to no any other restaraunt around. Not to mention I had the pleasure of meeting Gerard butler (300 , den of thieves) and him complimenting my taste in cigars . Overall do not come expecting to be cheap or on a budget. You ony live once , and life is too short to complain rather than enjoy the energy around you . The history , the staff and the fact everyone is constantly working to ensure an amazing experience make this is a must for all who all who enjoy the finer things in life. Also may I recommend a sidecar prepared Sal the house bartender . He is a legend at his craft and I personaly believe he is someone that your soul needs to cross paths with. A gentleman and craftsman .

I’m not sure why this restaurant has low reviews. The appetizers were light and tasty, the crispy beef, duck and sea bass was perfect for our taste. Service was extremely attentive and helpful. I will return.

Mr. Chow's on 57th St. is one of my favorite restaurants in the city!! The service is absolutely incredible and you truly feel at home with also a luxurious feel. Hands down the best duck in all of New York City. The restaurant is also always so clean and spotless. Truly, one of my favorite restaurants ever and always an incredible time dining there. Would highly recommend to anyone and everyone!!

Dining at Mr. Chow’s is nothing short of an experience. The Peking duck is impeccably crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside, and served with those delicate pancakes that elevate every bite. The fiery beef is a revelation; perfectly spiced, tender, and with just the right amount of heat to keep you coming back for more. The scallops are seared to perfection, buttery, and melt in your mouth with every bite. Try it with their hot sauce, it’s so so good! Pairing the meal with a glass of champagne turns it into a celebration; the bubbles cut through the richness beautifully. The fried rice—simple yet indulgent is perfectly seasoned and generously studded with fresh ingredients. The silverware and table presentation add an extra layer of elegance, making every dish feel luxurious. The ambiance is small but intimate and classy, ideal for a special night out. Every detail, from the food to the atmosphere, shows precision, flavor, and sophistication. Mr. Chow’s is a must-visit for anyone craving elevated Chinese cuisine.

Walked into Mr. Chow and the hospitality was impeccable. Each host and service said hello on our way to our seats. We were well attended to. Zoran was so pleasant and funny. We ordered all of his recommendations and nothing disappointed! I really appreciate the white glove service. The lobster was perfect and prawns were to die for. (And I'm glad he steered us to the sauteed rice over the steamed rice because it paired so well with everything we ordered). Atmosphere was exactly what we wanted after a day at the spa. Thanks for the memories.

One of the only places left for foodies who enjoy conversation with family and friends. The food is consistently prepared to perfection. The restaurant is open late seven days a week, and there is space between the tables, space otherwise unseen in Manhattan restaurants.

Beforehand I would like to express gratitude turs the lovely employees. The customer service from the minute one walks in is wonderful your greeted with high respect and the servers really do go out of their way to help you have a wonderful experience and enjoy a great meal. They are very educated on their menu so not to worry if your a first timer like myself or one that goes all the time they got you cover on meal selections and recommendations . Doors open at 6 pm worth the wait. Please stop by Mr Chow and enjoy. One the best Chinese restaurants in the great Manhattan New York area.

Was an outstanding experience! Prepare to spend over $100.00 per person minimum. The Mr. Chow noodles and the vegetable pot stickers were very flavorful. I ordered the chicken which came with mixed veggies and rice. Drinks are pricey. Much more costly to purchase bottles. Wait staff were exceptional.

Great dining experience. Very, very pricy. Service was excellent. Food was excellent. Lychee cocktail was delish. Only negatives didn’t really care for the corn and crab soup and lamb shank. Celebrated bday. Thanks for the Tiramisu cake.

Interesting experience. Be prepared it’s not cheap, and I would struggle to say it’s value for money, but it is an experience and we did have fun as we were asked to many times by the staff, who are excellent. Food is ok, wine was good. If you like a scene you’ll enjoy

M
Marco Demesier

I honestly liked it. The food was delicious. I had a lamb shank and it was very good, Well-prepared, and I enjoy the fact that it's easy to combine the bill into one. I recommend their Lamb shank and their chicken meals. The only negative of the place was that it was too small, but other than that the service was great and all waiters and waitresses or well dressed.

W
Wallace Vaughan

Amazing food. The pesto shrimp situation....whatttttt. Really really enjoyed it. The wait staff was kind of a unique situation that I don’t prefer. Instead of one waiter they all just work your table. This isn’t so bad, just kind of lowers the quality feel of the place. And was highly annoyed when the first waiter walked up and rushed us to order drinks, wife asked what cocktails there were and he said “none really, we just have all the liquors you would expect” and then 5 minutes later a different waiter set down a super interesting cocktail menu after we had already placed a standard martini order. Not the end of the world, but not the type of service you would expect from a foodie revered place like this.

Good upscale Chinese restaurant in the Upper East Side. The pecking duck and lettuce wraps are a must. Pricey for a Chinese restaurant.

S

So I was treated for my birthday and what a birthday it has been. I wasn't sure of my expectations upon entering and the stories of the 80's-90's of celebrity attendance. Upon immediate entry you are greeted with the class of it all. My girlfriend's are truly the best and my foodies in the frontline the start off of Lychee Bellini's #toDieFor followed by the best lobster shumai, scallion pancakes and ribs (which I didn't touch I don't do the pork). Filet Mignon so buttery and tender you were actually able to cut it with a butter knife. Accompanied with filet if sole that was equally buttery soft and flavored to perfection........the game changer here was the hour long cooked Peking Duck words can't express other than #YUM. Mind you I can only state I was full by the lobster shumai but had to devour that which is Peking duck accompanied with veggies fried rice that was uber light and the only flavorful baby bok choy. #Dream dessert was Heaven.

My friends and I had dinner last night at Mr. Chow's. Special thanks to our hostess and maitred, Angie and Chris. They made our evening of delicious food, drinks and superb service unforgettable. Can't wait to go back... * P.S....the lemon sorbet was "out of this world"...❤️

A charming and classy environment. The food quality and service is exceptional. The lamb chop is well prepared and their Duck was tasty. I would make a two recommendations: 1-it was hard eating the Duck and Lamb Chop out of the tin bowls. I recommend they bring it out in a plat bowl, and 2-a sauce of some sort as an option for the Bok Choy. Overall a truly sophisticated experience.

Daniel H

It's overpriced, but the food is pretty decent and the service was great. The only down side is that the space is pretty small and they fill it up with as many tables as they can, felt like a sardine in a can.

L
Laura Davis

I really wanted to like Mr Chow, it is legendary, but fell short in my opinion. The crispy beef is way more crispy batter than beef. My husband had the duck, and it was greasy. The rice & pot stickers were good. The service was excellent.

Z
Zakiyyah Sheila Flagg

Welp. The experience has finally happened. I have wanted to visit Mr. Chow forever and finally we did last night, wow! I am so sorry to say that I was disappointed in the food quality. The food was super salty and the portions are really small for the prices that they charge and trust me, I don't care about prices when it comes to "fine dinning" as long as its good food quality and good food. The server was nice and so was the hostess so I cannot give 1 star because of that. But the food....very disappointing.

G
Gligor Tashkovich

I was there last night (Saturday night) from 8:30 pm to 11:45 pm. Despite having a reservation for 7 people, they squeezed us into a table for 4-5 people. The chairs were also surprisingly uncomfortable. There was a discussion that once the larger table next to us (containing a birthday party) was finished that we could move there -- but this never happened (nor was my hostess consulted by the staff about whether it was ok to remain at the obviously much smaller table). I was puzzled that menus were never presented (my hostess seemingly decided to order for everyone -- it was a little unusual). Food quality was delicious and food was served promptly. However, my repeated requests for Fiji Water refills always took an unreasonably long time and always had a consistently lower priority than any requests for alcohol from someone else at the table (and a tremendous amount of alcohol was consumed). This was unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber. I had long wanted to go there but honestly am not likely to return now.

R
Roy Quek

High end, white table cloth Chinese restaurant, which is quite rare as Chinese cuisine has suffered from a bad and unfair reputation of being cheap. The place is classy and intimate, with a sunken dining area that brings back the feeling of golden days of yore. As an Asian, I find the food here acceptable. Authentic but nothing spectacular. You can definitely get better food for much cheaper at the better Chinatown/Flushing restaurants, though the taste profile here might be more suitable for Westerners who aren't too picky about getting the most authentic taste. For the comfort and atmosphere, one might perhaps find the price acceptable, especially if you're not Asian. Otherwise, it's quite expensive for slightly above average Asian food.

D
Doug Anderson

NO THANK YOU: I find the servers to be obnoxious. They are clear as to what they want you to eat and if you don't want to do it their way, well they'll show you.............that's what I wrote 5 years ago. Last night we went with friends and the men let the women order. They were pushed into twice as much as anyone needed to eat. Now, the food is good but service is much too fast............we slowed them down and they weren't happy about it. Dinner cost $250/couple and there was no reason for it. NEVER AGAIN

f
fjsld 61

It’s overpriced, absolutely. And DO NOT order this INK SQUID RICE NOODLE!! It’s super salty and it’s black like very black. If you come here with your bf or gf, just don’t order it. A huge mess everywhere, and even the lips!! You have to use makeup remover to get rid of those black tint marks..

I
Ife Bowman

The food tastes microwaved and the drinks weren’t much better unfortunately. The front entrance is worn down, but really the whole place needs a renovation. That being said, the manager last night was fantastic and so hospitable, as were the servers and runners. Talented staff, a shame the kitchen is just not up to par.

T
Tameka Redmond

White clean interior, but needs some kind of art and better stereo system or dj. This place is definitely stuck in the 80’s LOL Food is ok, nothing special. I don’t know what the hype was about. Overpriced, but overall ok for one time, just to say I’ve been there.

B
Brodie Laing

Wow, what a ride. I don't think I've ever experienced a restaurant quite like this in all my life. From the first bite of the chicken popsicle until the live noodling performance from Mr Chow himself, this place left me feeling uncomfortable but somehow wanting more. Also. Why do we need to ask for chopsticks and soy sauce in a Chinese restaurant? Hugely expensive, identify crisis and not sure much place for it in today.

R
Robert Garcon

The atmosphere is very old not renovated service is great. The food is good but the price point is awful especially in times like this when things are very expensive and you could go to Felicia and get the same chicken sauté three for 20 versus three for 60 they need to do better

Maryam Obaid
Maryam Obaid

For a fine dining the place wasn’t as I expected. Very tight space for both customers seated and the waiters. I tried the chicken satay (overrated but quite good), and other dishes but nothing stood out. For desserts, I quite liked the fresh lychees.

Erie Perez
Erie Perez

Food was great, service as always. Been coming here for the last 20 Years, the problem is that now they only want you to get the food bundle, even if you want to try many things they keep insisting in the bundle. Really disappointing start of the evening, i said No and he kept insisting that it was the best for the table, we all felt very uncomfortable as they continued to push for the Bundle. I said i would never come back and then they served us our choices from the menu. Great Food, great service but my night started sour having to fight with the guy for over 15 minutes. Peking Duck was awesome, squid pasta in black ink so incredible but i will Never be back again, started reading other reviews and its the same unfortunate strategy of a once great place to have a group and memorable moment.... Unfortunately never coming back again in a party 6 or larger. I hope Mr. chow management start reading the reviews.... Expensive is ok if you leave feeling great ... Not what happened ! Bye Mr. chow this could of been a 5 star, wanted to give it a 2...

C
Ceyda Ozdemir

I’d probably prefer my local Chinese joint. The rice was sooooo oily there was literally a puddle of oil at the bottom of the plate.. they made me and my guest sit next to each other at a table in which we clearly wanted to sit across from each other?? (it was just us two dining) the ambiance is nice

J
Jurgen

They have hiked up their prices substantially without increasing the quality -- now it is just over priced to be over priced. Additionally, one particular server was absolutely rude and dismissive of us. He gave us the impression like we didn't belonged there. Oh well, will still have that first memory from many, many years ago.

A
Amy Chen

Very attentive service and good atmosphere. Food was decent, but very Americanized, expensive and not authentic, you can get better Chinese food for a much better price elsewhere. Aside from a single chef, I was the only asian person in the restaurant. Peking duck can only be ordered for parties of three or more at the whopping price of $86 per person (a party of two has to pay for three people).

K
Kate Romanelli

maybe Mr Chow wouldn’t be one of the only restaurants in the city that is half empty on peak nights if they would drop their very annoying, very aggressive sales strategy. - No, I don’t want the three course menu. Don’t worry, I’ll still drop $500. If you’re so desperate to sell me things and empty the bottles on the table then maybe don’t forget to bring the appetizer to the table that I ordered. $100 slipped through your fingers right there.

A
Au

The place serves banquet classics, but the quality of the preparation coupled with the volume of food available did not warrant $128 per person for a 7 person table. How do 7 people share a 1lb lobster? The bok choy was not properly cut up to eat with chopsticks, so we needed to use forks and knives to cut the bok choy into the right size pieces. The food was served luke warm. The worst part is they charged $18 for a slice of birthday cake and we did not request one br brought out.

I
I K

They give the customer an overpriced “prefix” bill at the end without itemizing it. The place is a scam I’m surprised people still go there. I went there last night and paid $224 for vegetables, which they explained is their “prefix” price.

T
Tien F

The noodle was as good as any homemade Beijing noodle but everything else made you wonder how they get away with serving takeout Chinese with fine dining price tag.

J
Jack Shea

6pm reservation, they opened late so a few parties were waiting outside. Of course it's overpriced, but that's acceptable if the service makes up for it... Which was not necessarily true. At every moment I felt rushed and unconsidered; While the waitstaff were clearly veterans with terrific memories and were trying their best, there must be a management/structural issue forcing them to take plates while the fork has food on it, and take dishes before our party has even passed them around the table. Of course, you can spend this much at most restaurants in its tier and receive better service.

D
David Dinhofer

The food was good but not special. The pot stickers did not taste homemade. The crab soup was egg drop soup with a little bit of crab. The lamb dish was overcooked. The bass was good. The Gambling duck was not crispy and likely reheated. While the food wasn't bad, the price was. We ordered the price fixed meal which included 1 appetizers and 1 entree per person. The cost was $113 not including tax or tip. There were other small issues but the high price for mediocre food is a killer.

M
Michael Klein

Outrageously expensive. Great old school service amazing. Pretty cool atmosphere. But... the food is awful. Like pictures in the widow type restaurant awful. Had four people so we got four appetizers and four entrees so I tried a pretty sizable portion of their menu. The food ranged from average at best to awful. And then the bill.... We could have flown first class to Hong Kong for that price. I don't mind a pricey meal, but there are tons of delicious Chinese food restaurants in NYC that don't cost as much as a mink coat.

Anthony Pastecchi
Anthony Pastecchi

A restaurant that exists thru a bygone era. Seated 75 minutes after our reservation time, the staff quickly took our order (which was great) and did their best to remedy the overbooked and overstayed parties in the dining room. Hostess was as friendly as you can be in a tough situation; however, management should know after 50 years how to prevent this. You're paying to become part of a legacy experience and not for the food itself, there are countless restaurants for 1/3 the price that serve better quality and prepared foods. We knew this going into this experience of course, so won't ding them on that. The main negatives was the extreme wait, the strong smell of essentially stale plumbing upon entry and near the bar, and even with that, Mr. Chow does carry a history many other restaurants do not, so it is still worth the visit, just know what you're getting into.

james oliverio
james oliverio

Overrated and way over priced. Crab claws were overwhelmed with sesame seeds which took away any flavor of the crab. Same with Dungeness crab. They mix with egg whites but is too much egg. It’s all you taste. When my family said the broccoli was the best thing, you know you have a problem

Connor McDonald

The staff was great and very professional. The food, was BEYOND OVERRATED. For how much you pay, there are TONS of better options. I was not impressed.

Just the worst. I was visiting Mr Chow in the winter with my family of four, and our experience was less than pleasant. Too expensive food, that didn't even taste like Asian food. The "noodles" tasted like pasta, just normal 5$ pasta. The main course was mediocre, nothing special and too expensive for the taste. I have eaten good & expensive Asian food before and it wasn’t something I would say I got here. They had pop music in the background, yet this restaurant is classified as a classy asian restaurant. As me and my family was visiting in the winter, it was pretty cold and even though we sat far away from the door we were still cold. The waiter kept filling up our glasses every two five minutes, so that we should order more to drink. You might say that filling up the glasses is usual, but it happened so often that we hadn’t even taken a sip before it was filled up again. As I mentioned, this restaurant is classified as a "classy" restaurant, but it seemed far from classy, I mean just having high prices doesn’t make it classy. The chairs were terrible, they were very uncomfortable. You do have sofas, but sombody always have to sit on the chairs in a party of more than two. I will probably never go back to mr.Chow

By far the worst restaurant in nyc. This place serves portions that would leave an infant starving . These portions are also overpriced beyond belief the menu posted online is dated so except everything to be double of what is posted which seems pretty pricey already but wait until you see the new prices when you get there. The food quality is that of a local take out chinese Restuarant maybe worse because every dish is overly salted. Stay away from this place.

Rushed out by the staff , horrible table on the corner in the back behind the waiter station and food a 3 star at best, served cold, and that’s generous, Very disappointing. Will definitely not be going back, Was rushed out within an hour, walked out very disappointed. Wasted -$350 for two people. Terrible.

This high-priced establishment disappointed with lackluster cuisine – overcooked dishes, flavorlesingredients, and a pretentious presentation that couldn't mask the overall culinary mediocrity. The exorbitant prices only added insult to the tasteless experience. Avoid this place!!!

Yesterday i was there with my 6 Frinds The food was so so bad not like every time at all !! The only good thing was the crispy duck and the chocolate cake !!! The lights was so annoying The chicken satay is the worst !!!

By far the worst restaurant I’ve been too in terms of food. For I am very sure the staff knows who I am from this comment. I ordered the chicken satay skewers and to our big surprise the chicken was raw!! Any my 2 year old son was about to eat it. We complained and all we got was an apology and 50% off our bill. This was very concerning as the dish consisted of chicken and could have caused salmonella!

The so called „service“ is a JOKE ! First the very rude and unprofessional hostesse told us our table is not ready and we have to wait till one free table „pops up“. We booked the table 1 month ago so NOTHING should just pop up. We had to wait 25 minutes and there was not even a sorry or explanation WHY we had to wait 25 minutes for our RESERVED table. I requested the waiter to offer us at LEAST a glass of wine for the inconvinience and they told us we can choose a wine. Our waiter was literally so bored, rude and was almost pissed everytime we asked something. When we received the bill they seriously put our offered wines on it so I wanted to talk with the manager (Miguel Gonzalez). He explained to us with an attitude that they DON‘T offer free drinks - he has guests who wait up to 1 hour to get a table! He was so rude and unprofessional - I NEVER EVER expiriend something like that in a high class restaurant. We are not at Burger King where you lineup for your food! The hostesse and the manager should be replaced URGENTLY - this is NOT the way they treat you at Mr. Chow in other locations. They should keep the standard high and get rid off the cheap people.

Mr Chow is an overpriced restaurant with tasteless Chinese food. Our experience was very disappointing and I would never return. I feel it would be better to visit China town and get some authentic tasty Chinese food. The fish dishes were tasteless as if the fish was frozen and the chicken too. Unfortunately dressing the staff up in dinner suits doesn’t make up for the poor food and extortionate prices

Unless you're an Instagram influencer trying to show off your inordinate amounts of wealth, this place is truly a horrible, horrible restaurant. That's truly the only possible reason you should go here - to tell everyone, "hey guys, I can spend $60 on chicken lettuce wraps that taste like they came from the freezer section of Walmart and I DON'T CARE!" It's not just that the food is overpriced, but between the bland and uninspired lettuce wraps that wouldn't make the cut at PF Changs, oddlly textured chicken satay that is smeared in, what I assume is free packets of white sauce from the Halal Guys down the block, fried rice that is whiter than individual that would normally enjoy such a poorly made version of the classic dish, or vegetables that inevitably were delivered alongside the local bodega's Marlboros, it's really just objectively terrible food. Avoid at all costs - except, of course, if you just want to impress your 1k followers with how much money you're able to spend at a restaurant that should have closed in 1980.

I was very upset I made reservations and I still had to wait 20 minutes for a table. When we finally got a table they gave us a pre fixed menu when we explained to the waiter that we didn't like the pre fixed menu ( which only had about 6 choices on it and 5 of them were fish) and requested a regular menu he refused to give us one. So we asked to speak to the manager and he said we had to order off the pre fixed menu it's crazy you have to pay $95 a person and you can't even choose what you want to eat. They make no effort to please there customers. So we got up and walked out if your paying for your food you should be able to order what you want not what they tell you.

The service is what you’d expect from an overpriced Chinese restaurant in Manhattan that isn’t doing their best - hostess and head waiter were rude to my Asian guests who speak English, but the hostess and head waiter spoke to them like they were foreigners and unwelcome. You can’t order a few dishes as they the head waiter pushed us into the overpriced set menu. Outside of the lack luster condescending tone and manner of the head waiter and hostess, the food, not an over statement, unfortunately was bland - I’ve never had Chinese (American or Authentic) that had zero flavor. The soup dumplings broth was hot water, the crispy beef was just okay, fried rice was rice that simply was cooked in oil (it had eggs, scallions, and shrimp, but zero flavor), and the lamb shank was mediocre in portion and cut, I don’t even remember the other dishes because they didn’t stand out. I would skip Mr. Chow and head to China Town in Manhattan, Flushing, and/or Sunset Park instead.

Head waiter gossiping behind our backs with another waiter pointing at the table just because we didn’t order the three course menu he tried so hard selling us. Incredible annoying. If this is the only thing you want people to order then stop offering anything else.

My boyfriend’s nephew raved about this place, and we had very high hopes. Although the food was decent (nothing extraordinary), it was extremely overpriced, and the majority of the staff were less than stellar, and at times, rude and obnoxious. With Covid still running rampant and many places having to shut down due to the lack of business, I would have anticipated a restaurant like Mr. Chow to up their game so that their now limited patronage would continue and allow them to stay afloat; however, that was far from our experience. The “Chief Server” didn’t want to be bothered by our questions regarding the heaters provided in their outdoor seating. He was extremely dismissive, and when I questioned what he told us, his response was “I don’t know, you’ll have to ask the manager.” My response was “then why did you answer us as if you knew?” This set the tone for the rest of our dinner, and had it not been for the rest of our party, I would have elected to leave as I don’t believe in giving a rude establishment any of my business. Now let’s move on to the actual food and the expense. Six small pot stickers, though beautifully presented, were nearly twenty dollars. A SMALL plate (not advertised as such) of Beijing beef was about fifty. Their version of shrimp fried rice, also a tiny portion, was almost twenty. When it was all said and done, seven of us wound up with a bill that totaled over 400, which included outside of food, 1 bottle of sparkling water, two martinis, and the rest tap water. When we asked them to split the bill, they didn’t want to be bothered with that as well and made it seem as if we were asking them to accomplish a feat that was unheard of and how dare we inconvenience them. It wasn’t until after my boyfriend’s nephew got extremely irritated and basically demanded they split the bill, they finally did. We all left cold, upset, not satiated, and 400 dollars poorer. We, for sure, will never return.

DO NOT GO THERE. I can’t tell what was the worst part of the experience: the service or the food. This is NOT Mr. Chow Miami. I was there last night, thinking that I would have a great meal because I was in the neighborhood. I’m a born and bred New Yorker who has eaten Chinese food across our city. It should be noted I went to the restaurant with a Chinese friend who grew up in Shanghai. We were pushed to order quickly and when the food did come, it was thrown together and then thrown hastily onto the table as servers ran away before giving us utensils or chop sticks. The restaurant is cramped, cold, and you are stared at by servers as you eat. Stay focused as the story unfolds because as a discrimination lawyer, I am confident for the first time in my life, I may have my own case. Stay away from this restaurant at all costs, which is something I will not be exclaiming across every social media outlet. By the way, this is my first review EVER. It’s a shame this was the experience that drove me to write it. 0.0

I have no idea how this place is in business. The portions are small, and the food is pretty tasteless. Wait staff is pretty rude. On top of all this, they charge you like an actual GOOD restaurant is supposed to charge you. Money not well spent. Do not go here unless you want to leave starving. Very disappointed. I’m willing to bet the only people who gave this place a good rating are the people who work here and the person who owns it

Not worth the time and definitely not worth the money. No one wants to stare at staff while eating. Ridiculous. The staff hangs around like over eager pleasers but are simply there to pump the lofty bill to sky high proportions. My son was asked four times by four different waiters if he wanted another soft drink. The answer was no on all occasions. Very disappointing..

Food is overrated and over priced. Never never never order delivery from Mr. Chow. The Mr chow noodles are horrible

The food was not great, the only thing that was good was the chicken satay and my shrimp jade steamed dumplings. They had us sitting next too these orchids that smell really bad. I immediately requested to change our table for us to sit in a different location to get away from that horrible smell. The place is very small, I would've rather Philippe on 60th street the food is so much better.

Terrible experience especially being a New Yorker! Miniscule portions(beyond tiny!!) Extremly over priced! Definitely not worth the pea size portions. Rude/Rush out service. Very unformational! Will absolutely pass on not to patronize.

What a waste of time when you are in NYC. Food came out as fast as Chick Fil A and that is not a good sign for a restaurant that charges as much as they do . The restaurant is very outdated and the waiters try to talk you into more food than you need . Do not waste your time or money on this place

Awful overpriced , paid $69 for this. They didn’t even give me white rice. One fried up chicken satay. Steer clear of this place, philippe chow is much better!! The dish on left was 46$ I expected it to be family style for that price with rice. Chicken satay 1 for 12$ ?? Either uber or me chow or both are ripping me off here.

The food and server were excellent. Im a frequent when I stop by NYC. However the last two times I came the hostess was very rude and looked down on me & my friend. There were plenty of empty tables and she still treated us badly as if we cant afford it due to our ethnicity.

This place is TRULY overhyped. The food wasn't tasty AT ALL it was very bland & the portions were very small for the prices charged. I was shocked. The best thing going was this Lychee Martini

Food is less than mediocre. Small portions. Crispy beef, no beef, all fried... side orders are charged double for single portion. Have Been to better restaurants. Overrated.. There are plenty of amazing restaurants in the city. This is just not one of them. Disappointing.

The food was honestly very underwhelming, especially for the prices. I was looking forward to the squid ink noodles, but ended up quite disappointed as they were kind of slimy, not hot, and super messy. The crispy beef was good, but I still don’t know what part of it was actually beef. It was just straight crisps. The chicken satay was just okay. I ordered fish (I don’t remember which one) as my second course, but the texture was also slimy and sticky, and the taste was bland. The ambiance was gloomy in my opinion, and the vibe was very off putting. Mr. Chow came out and did a pasta performance which was okay, but the entire restaurant fell silent on cue. Maybe I watch too many movies, but as a first timer and not expecting that, I felt like I was about to be a part of a horror film like the movie, “The Menu.” It was actually quite eerie and unsettling. I’m not sure if the guy in the suit was an owner, part of management, or what…but he he only checked on us once, and that was to explain the menu but he seemed perturbed doing so. I noticed that he would only ask people that was obviously very wealthy how they were doing. Lastly, I ended my night with a very upset stomach. Nausea and everything. 🤮 I’m up this morning, and my stomach still hurts. Our waiter is the only part of our experience that made it okay, as he was very attentive. In all, I do not recommend this place at all. I think it’s for a certain type of demographic and I definitely would not be back.

I have written very few reviews in my life, though the quality of the food along with management's response to our complaint led me to write this review. We ordered Mr. Chow for delivery, and it quite literally was the worst meal that I have ever eaten, or lack there of because it was inedible. We ordered the crispy beef which was essentially breading as the beef seemed to be absent and without flavor at $56. The Mr. Chow noodles, which excusing the fact they were soggy, had zero flavor. The chicken satay, which was the only edible item was fine, but the portion of one small satay was offensive at $16. While I understand some foods do not travel well, the taste and quality of the food should not be this poor and is inexcusable at this price point. If the food does not deliver well, then a restaurant with this caliber and reputation should not offer delivery. Moreover, we called the restaurant and spoke with the manager, who was rude and told us that we should not have ordered these signature items and refused to acknowledge or correct the situation. I am highly disappointed in the experience with Mr. Chow and will never dine at or recommend this restaurant to anyone again, most notably because of the refusal of the restaurant manager to remedy the situation.
