I’ve been walking past Sushi Lin since they first opened, and I noticed it getting busier day by day. It started to book up so quickly that it was time to stop in and try it for myself, and I’m so happy I did. The 17 course experience leaves you thinking you cannot possibly be met with another premium piece until Jerry places it in front of you. Please do yourself a favor and stop by. Thank you Jerry and Sushi Lin for the lovely experience.
What a special experience. We walked in at 8 on a Wednesday night and as luck would have it there were two seats available. The staff was so genuine and welcoming. The 12 course omakase was great: every course was delicious. And don’t sleep on the milk pudding dessert! Thank you, chefs.
The best sushi we have ever had! Don’t skip on the 17 course Omakase. Watching the chefs prepare the sushi in front of you was brilliant, they clearly had so much passion. We loved this experience, only thing was that wine was only available by the bottle, not sure if this is standard in NY sushi restaurants. The pricing was worth it and good value! Loved this so much. Wish we could eat it all again!
Overall really decent omakase. The food is well-prepared and there are a range of different kinds of fish protein in the omakase other than salmon and tuna. My friend was having a birthday and the restaurant was really nice to prepare a mini surprise for him! Regarding the drinks, it was a pity that plum wine was not an option here. Instead we got yuzu shu, which was pretty good as well.
Omakase in Soho! Had a great time with my bestie today, new place to try with a reasonable price! This is a very serious Omakase restaurant and you can see by their attention to details. The waiter was very attentive. Each piece was delicious and we were absolutely stuffed afterwards. Looking forward to visiting again!
The sushi itself is simply fantastic. The fish is fresh and melts in your mouth, and the rolls are beautifully presented with a range of colorful toppings and sauces. The menu features a great variety of options, from classic nigiri to creative signature rolls, all of which are made with care and attention to detail. In addition to the sushi, the restaurant also offers a selection of appetizers and entrees, including grilled skewers, tempura, and bento boxes. The miso soup is especially noteworthy, with a rich and flavorful broth that is perfect for starting off a meal. Overall, Sushi Lin is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for high-quality sushi in a stylish and comfortable setting. The restaurant's dedication to using the freshest ingredients and presenting them in a visually appealing way is evident in every dish. If you're a fan of sushi or just looking to try something new, be sure to check out Sushi Lin Soho.
If I could give an extra star I would! My husband and I had been dying for some delicious sushi. I’m used to LA abundance/ quality and since moving back to Boston haven’t had my fix! This place exceeded our expectations in all areas. We saw reviews and figured the sushi would be delicious but the service and environment were also great. Sushi- we did the 12 piece omakasi experience which was excellent. We had an incredible variety from toro, scallop, ending with a delicious hand roll. We had sushi unlike any I’ve had before- some classic, some with seared tomato, shishito peppers, fresh truffle. You could taste the quality of the fish and the sauces were paired perfectly without being over powering. We ended our course with a sesame rice dessert that was both unique and to die for. Service: all sushi chefs were friendly, engaging, funny and just incredibly accommodating. They even played music and brought out a cake for my husband. They were awesome! Environment- one would assume upscale sushi especially in a smaller restaurant would be a bit stuffy or snooty but we had a lovely, intimate and fun experience overall. We will come back to nyc just for this restaurant. Thank you!
Sushi Lin is an absolute gem! From start to finish, the omakase experience was exceptional. Every piece was incredibly fresh, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. You can truly taste the quality and craftsmanship in every bite. Jeffrey was amazing—his attention to detail, knowledge, and warm hospitality made the experience even more memorable. If you’re looking for top-tier sushi in an intimate and welcoming setting, this is the place to go. Can’t wait to come back!
Get the Omakase. I’ve been here three times - one in Prospect Height, Park Slope, and SoHo. It’s hands down, not even close, the best Omakase in the city. I’ve had several Michelin star Omakases at other restaurants and Sushi Lin blows them away. The fish is fresh. The ingredients are superior. The chef is a magician. The flavor combos are perfect. There are a few restaurants where a bite can evoke an emotional response. Where you will remember who you were with, what emotion you felt, and the pure joy that permeates throughout your body. Sushi Lin is one of those places. The Omakase is art. I would highly recommend.
Sushi Lin in Soho is a hidden gem for omakase lovers! The quality of the fish is exceptional—fresh, perfectly cut, and thoughtfully paired with house-made sauces and seasonings. The chefs are incredibly skilled and make the experience feel intimate and special, explaining each course with great detail. The ambiance is cozy yet elegant, perfect for a date night or special occasion. Every bite was an explosion of flavor, from the melt-in-your-mouth toro to the delicately balanced uni and unforgettable salmon tomato. The pacing of the meal was just right, never rushed but always engaging. Service was attentive without being intrusive, making the whole experience feel effortless. If you’re looking for an authentic omakase experience in Soho at a reasonable price point for the quality, Sushi Lin is a must-visit. Can’t wait to return!
This is such outstanding food experience! The quality of every dish is superb and our experience was very personalsized!
Great entry level omakase experience. The place wasn't busy when we went. I reckon you usually don't have to fight to get a spot there. Not super filling if you are a male but you're fine if you grab a boba and snack after. Great service though! Chefs and staff were very friendly.
The sushi was very high quality! A very well priced 17 course omakase at $125. The most notable pieces were the sweet shrimp with lemon zest and the salmon with torched salted tomato. The latter was a perfect fusion of flavor and texture that is sure to impress even the most avid omakase customers. The service was also great. They were very patient with us. They mentioned they had reservations at 7 and needed the space by then, but welcomed us as walk ins at 5:45 and did not make us feel rushed when we all arrived started an omakase around 6 pm.
Excellent omakase spot! Great value for what you’re getting. We got the 17 course omakase with a bottle of sake and everything was great. Chef was friendly and even asked for mine and my wife’s tolerance for wasabi (in case we wanted less). Loved our experience.
Wowowow! Jeffrey was absolutely amazing. The service was incredible and the food was to die for 🥹♥️ they do not play when it comes to high quality and amazing dishes here. Will be back!
Had an absolutely lovely omakase experience here. Every bite was an incredible dive in Japanese fine dining. The sushi was fresh and innovative. It ranged from melt in your mouth goodness to refreshing and airy. The sake was top knotch and the service excellent. Really great intimate time. Would come again. Highly recommend!
Really great omasake experience. Super fresh sushi pieces. chef Jeffrey is really knowledge to every pieces and welcome you with warm hospitality. the waiters are really polite and attention to detail. always notice the our needs befe we even have to ask. would recommend!!! and will be back in the future.
Sushi Lin is an excellent Omakase! Unique and high quality. Chef Jerry provided great service.
This was the best omakase experience I’ve had. We opted for the 12-course menu, and every dish was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We even ordered a few extra favorites: - Tuna with truffle - Fatty toro tuna + uni + caviar + gold flakes (my favorite) - Scallop We paired it with cloudy nigori sake. The cozy setting made it feel intimate and exclusive. Service was fantastic—the chef was warm, welcoming, and happy to chat. Highly recommend this spot for top-quality omakase at a great value. Can’t wait to return!
From the moment I sat down at the sushi bar, I knew that this was going to be a unique dining experience. The chef greeted me warmly and asked if I had any dietary restrictions or preferences. We had the 17-course option. Lin was our chef of the day. Each course was expertly prepared and beautifully presented. The fish and other ingredients are very fresh. Lin explained all the dishes as he served it, providing insight into the ingredients, flavor and technique used in its preparation. One of my favorite course was the salmon sushi topped with tomato. The melt in your mouth and the flavor of it incorporate very well with the salmon. The service throughout the courses are outstanding! Overall, it’s one of the best dining experience I have ever had.
Overall very good experience. You taste the freshness in every piece, and there is great creativity in a couple of the pieces as well. The king salmon with tomato on top was an interesting idea and very delicious. The service is friendly, and is definitely on the faster end as they do more seatings, but for the number of nigiris you get with the price, there is great value. The quality of food here does not lose to some of the Michelin-started sushi places in the city. Will be back.
This was an amazing sushi experience. Is it hard to find great affordable omokase in the city. The atmosphere of the restaurant made you feel so relax. The sushi chef Lin was nice and explained to us the different kinds of fish. Came with my friend and we were both pleasantly enjoyed all the food. A must for any sushi lover who are looking for great sushi experience and great quality fish. We will try the 17 course omakese next time:)
Absolutely amazing experience at Sushi Lin. The sushi were outstanding, the atmosphere warm and cozy, and the personal touch from the chef was so unexpected and special. A favorite in the city and I’ll definitely be back!
Came here to celebrate my birthday and it was such a nice experience. We had the 17 course omakase and the sushi fish was super fresh and well paired with interesting flavors. Our favorite was the one with tomato (that looked like bacon)! It was also super nice to talk to the chefs — they were great and recommended some other omakase spots around the globe. Thank you Jerry and Jeffrey!
I agree with the great reviews here. I think that there are a lot of good sushi restaurants that have great fish and excellent materials. This one stood out because of the interesting combination of flavors that they used on each individual piece. We got the 12 piece Omakase. Some of our favorites were the Hamachi with Shishido on top, the the fatty tuna, they had a piece of sushi with a fried tomato on top that was interesting, and the scallop had zest on top which added a complexity that I enjoyed.
Such a great experience! This was genuinely some of the best sushi I have ever eaten. The presentation was absolutely beautiful. Fresh fish, beautiful combination of flavors and very nice service. I would definitely recommend this spot to others!!
Arrived on a Thursday evening for a birthday dinner. The service from the moment you enter to the second you leave was well thought out. The pieces that stood out to me the most were the uni, the toast with the caviar and tuna and the sweet shrimp. The chefs create a unique perspective of traditional omakase that adds their own twist and flavor to each bite sized sushi they put in front of you. It’s like sitting in the front row of NYFW, it keeps you on your toes! The pieces were on the smaller side, more rice or fish would both be appreciated. The service was very quick, but the chefs were able to execute efficiently.
I had nothing short of a phenomenal experience at Sushi Lin Soho. The mouthwatering ensemble of inspired dishes would leave you wondering which piece “exactly” is your favorite. High-quality sashimi and sea urchin, great vibe and affordable. Highly recommend!

An okay-omakase experience for the price. Most of the pieces’ flavors are overshadowed by the sauce and I don’t really taste the fish themselves. The tomato, scallion and garlic in several pieces added interesting notes. They charge a processing fee for credit card transactions, so be prepared.
The set was just mediocre. I have had much better omakase in the city at the same price point. The torched tomato course was the most special of them all. Decent experience but I was not overwhelmed by it. I likely will not return again.

food: we got the 12 course omakase. our favorite was their signature piece (salmon tomato), so we ordered extra; but a different chef made it, and it wasn't as good (it was falling apart and there was a little bit of rice). this was our 2nd time at an omakase, so we're not too experienced. idt omakases are for us though... it's just not filling enough, and we're not as appreciative of sushi as we should be. service: staff was attentive, always refilling our water. they were able to accommodate us when we arrived earlier than our reservation since there was space. they also gave us a free slice of cheesecake for my early bday celebration (it was a bit frozen though)

The service was absolutely terrible. The server had a cold attitude with no smile, yet was very friendly and smiling at the neighboring table. We received zero service—they even helped the other table hang their coats but completely ignored us. No refill water and only once refill the wine, we also had to call for the bill ourselves. I have never experienced such awful service! Food was so so too.
Absolutely Overrated and a Waste of Money Food: The fish was mediocre at best and honestly didn’t taste fresh. It seemed pre-sliced or prepared in advance, as the chef didn’t slice anything in front of us during service. Many pieces relied on heavy toppings, which seemed more like an attempt to mask the lack of flavor rather than enhance it. The rice? Tiny, dense, and bland. It was compressed far too densely into tiny portions, creating a completely off-balance fish-to-rice ratio. Despite being a 17-course omakase, it wasn’t remotely filling. Moreover, the rice lacked proper seasoning, leaving the overall taste flat and underwhelming. They provided no soy sauce or wasabi for dipping, which might indicate confidence in their seasoning—but unfortunately, that confidence was misplaced. Service and Atmosphere: Unprofessional doesn’t even cover it. The staff and chef were speaking Cantonese, and unfortunately for them, we understood every word. One server literally said he wanted to leave early, right in front of us. How’s that for hospitality? Not long after, he left our table completely to go take a phone call. It’s hard to feel welcome when the only server clearly doesn’t want to be there. Price: For a subtotal of $360 for 2 people, this experience was not remotely worth the cost. To make matters worse, they tack on an additional 3.5% fee for card payments—an absurd policy for a restaurant charging such high prices. Bottom Line: Do yourself a favor, don’t waste your time or money here. Sushi Lin is overrated, overpriced, and downright disappointing. There are plenty of better options in the city where you’ll get fresh sushi, better service, and leave feeling satisfied. Trust me, skip this place. thank me later.
