3.5 / 5.0 - The Petrie Court Cafe is a cafeteria inside the Met, with high ceilings and a view of the Obelisk. Menu options for lunch were limited to a couple of overpriced sandwiches or salads. We got a Turkey & Swiss Cheese Sandwich ($16.75+) in a plastic container, similar to what you would get at an airport kiosk here. The sandwich itself was ok, although considering it is the Met, it’d be nice if they served higher quality food. The service was also quite poor. For coffee ($4.50+ for small), they hand you a cup to fill yourself and they still expect a tip. The space is ok for a break, but if you’re looking for a meal, I’d recommend dining elsewhere, outside of the museum.

Rather than pop out for food we thought we'd give the Petrie Court restaurant a go as we've eaten in two of the other restaurants at the Met. The food was only okay though and nothing to write home about. The salmon I had was rather dry. Our waiter was very nice and the service was fast though. The setting is nice.

I had to get something to eat while at the Met because I hadn’t had a lot to eat this day and for someone with dietary restrictions, I didn’t feel they had the best selection. Some of their foods looked very yummy, but as someone who cannot have dairy, I felt a little disappointed by the options. For people who have dairy or gluten restrictions or are vegan, I suggest having a big meal before going on. For vegetarian or don’t have any restrictions, it should be totally fine!

Now it is just walk up service for lunch. Order a counter for pre-made food. Salad nicoise had tuna badly overcooked and very hard. Mediocre food. Fast service and still an excellent view. Don't know if they will ramp it up for holiday season but at this rate would not return.

Crowded space and disappointing service. While ordering, the staff at the counter appeared impatient and interrupted us before we had finished, then moved on to the next customer, leaving us waiting. As Asian customers, it was hard not to feel uncomfortable or wonder whether we were being treated differently. I understand the space was busy, but the same patience seemed to be shown to other customers, just not to us. My latte order was also forgotten, and I had to show the receipt to remind the barista. When it was finally made, a large amount of sugar was added without asking. The tiramisu and brownie were average and overpriced for the quality. Overall, the experience felt unwelcoming. I wouldn’t recommend dining here.

DO NO go to this place. Terrible service experience. Not sure what’s wrong with this male staff — I was standing right behind my friend in line, and when we said we wanted to pay separately, he suddenly told me to “stay in the line,” even though I was already in line. Then after my friend finished paying, he said I “missed my chance” and told me to go to the other line. When I switched, he called me back again! Totally disorganized and disrespectful — he seemed to just enjoy ordering customers around. Really unpleasant experience. DO NO go to this place.

Really not good and expensive! Cobb salad was plain regular lettuce with tough chicken (some chunks were inedible) with tiny wet bacon bits, 5 cardboard tasting grape tomatoes in a plastic container and u grab your own plastic cutlery to eat it with and I took it all to a dirty table on plastic tray. Whoever prepared the watery Lentil soup didn’t bother or maybe didn’t know to soak the beans so I had hours of painful gastric distress throughout my museum visit. Just that and a bottle of cold tea for $40+. The Met should go out in front of the museum to one of the food trucks for tips on tasty quick serve items or have a bite at any of the MOMA cafe’s to better understand what to do for good eats at a more reasonable price.

Staff is quite rude. Forced everyone, including a breastfeeding mother, to get up and leave because we took our seats a minute before they were officially open. Then refused to open the cafe until it was about 10 minutes past the time they said they'd open. But the view is great and I don't think there's a 'no outside food' policy, which works for us and our kid.

The food and service here was terrible, avoid at all costs! Do not waste your money with food inside The Met, go out and get a hot dog at one of the carts on the street or something. I had an overpriced sandwich that was dreadful, I only ate the little meat that was on it. I'm pretty sure this place gave my PREGNANT wife food poisoning! Horrible service was just the cherry on top. Overall just disappointed in The Met for having such horrible food options.

the only positive about this place was the location in the museum. the ham and brie sandwich was 90% pretzel bread 10% meat and cheese. the salmon caesar salad was very overpriced for lettuce and croutons (the dressing was very off as well). not worth the $50 for two people.

$16.75 for probably the worst Caesar salad I’ve ever had in my life. At least the views of central park are nice, but I would not recommend getting anything other than a snack here!

Sandwiches are nothing like the other world, small, simple and expensive, but hey it's New York. The worst thing was that I politely asked him to cut me two sandwiches to share, Mr. Ok told me, he gave them to me and didn't cut them, when I looked for him to ask him to cut them, he told me: They have plastic knives there, and in their service they had knives to cut bread, he just didn't feel like doing it!!

Extremely expensive and when you pay it asks for a tip. They should give me a tip for taking my drink out of the fridge myself. This is getting out of hand.
