Opinions de Ramen Danbo New York
The ramen was great! Probably one of the best ones I've had. But, can we talk about the service, Gui, Lily, and Rafeena were absolutely amazing. They're all very friendly, attentive, and answered all our questions. They made my experience 10 times better. I will definitely come back.
Located in the west village, this ramen shop is super straight-forward and offers a vegan menu in addition to their regular menu! You can choose from a variety of broths, ramen noodles, and toppings as well as some appetizers. Service is fairly quick. Their ramen broth is rich and flavorful and their ramen noodles are the perfect texture. Absolutely love how they have a vegan menu (which also includes vegan appetizers!) and I thought that it was delicious. Great casual ramen spot!
What I loved about this place was how dietary friendly it is! When you order, it has a complete menu for vegetarian/vegan diners, and it clearly outlines options for other common dietary restrictions. The curry ramen was incredibly flavorful and delicious, and the tofu was to die for. The employees were really kind in explaining stuff to us; would definitely recommend!
Delicious Hakata style ramen. Even the simplest version is delicious to the last drop. A great place to go if you're hungry because they offer "kaedama", which is an extra whole or half serving of noodles for your bowl if you finish all your noodles and you still have soup.
Their ramen is delicious. I will come back again solo and with a friend. You have creative control over bowl which I love. From noodle thickness and cook level, to spice level, and toppings. I had the miso ramen and it was fabulous. I came here in the winter and made the decision that if/when I come back it def won't be in the winter. There's no place to hang coats and every time the door opens you're blasted with the freeze of the outdoors lol
I was told for years to check it out. Was kind of disappointed given the bowl size. But the menu was interesting. The waitresses were friendly and respectful. Place is clean , peaceful, and relaxing. Will want to go again given the punch card system. And their seasonal ramen (curry ramen) peaked my interest. Also $2 for a full noodle refill you can't get that anywhere else.
Ambiance (4/5): The establishment is quite small and therefore very tight. No place to really hang coats or be comfy. The line queue outside went pretty quickly for us—approx. 10 minutes being the 3rd party of 2 with a 6:45p weeknight arrival. By the time we finished, the line was about 8-10 people in queue who already had an order slip in hand. Service (5/5): There was 2 servers on the floor and we were serviced very quickly. Our food came out within 5 min. Although we didn’t feel rushed leaving, expect a quick meal and clear out for the rest of the guests waiting in line. Tonkatsu Ramen (5/5): I love the ability to customize my bowl of ramen to my liking—from the thickness/firmness of my noodle, richness of broth, spice level, toppings! The ramen excels in its broth which has so much umami that it’s hard to beat. The charsiu pork pieces would typically dock a star for me, due to its thinness, portion size, and aired on a little dry. The extra soft boiled seasoned egg was a nice plus (+$3) to an otherwise bare bowl (only has green onions) Recommended: thick noodle, standard firmness, spicy, thickness/richness strong, karadare yes
This place is SO delicious. Absolutely love the ramen here; it’s incredibly flavorful and customizable (can choose thickness of noodles , richness of broth, spice level, and add toppings)Food comes out pretty quickly, they are open late, and have a digital stamp card. Definitely would recommend.
Shio tonkotsu ramen was absolutely delicious, thick broth and strong, rich flavor. Chashu add-on was worth it, very tasty and absorbed the broth well. Eggs done perfectly. My only criticism is that the standard cooked noodles were very underdone; you should definitely order soft noodles which I am guessing will be more like standard. Other than the noodles it's all really high quality.
Ramen Danbo is one of the few places that has an equally elaborate Vegan menu as their regular menu, and it is hands down one of the best vegan ramen places in the city The vegan Miso Ramen was very flavorful with a great balance of broth and noodle. I highly recommend getting the extra tofu with the bowl as the normal serving of 2 feels less The vegan gyoza were nice, but not necessarily a must try
Ramen: Great! Noodles are cooked on the firm side. Bowl is largely customizable to taste (see slip) Side dishes are iffy. Donburi and chatsu pork was too strongly flavored for my taste. Dumpling side tasted a bit like it was from a frozen package The broth and eggs though... Exactly what you'd want from a ramen shop.
We tried vegan Miso and Curry(seasonal) ramen and we loved it. It was nicely spicy and noodles were cooked to perfection. We also tried vegan gyoza which was good too. . Many vegan options for the broth which is rare.Definitely recommended
Pretty good ramen spot, with good selection and vegan options. Gyoza was great. Only comment was that the spice levels could be higher. Wait wasn’t too bad (10-15min) but you need the whole party there (or arriving in 10min or less) to be seated. Pricing was standard and service was good.
This place was hyped by my friends. I visited around 3pm and we couldn’t find a place and had to wait for around 30 mins. The ambience is super cozy and the service was amicable. The food was super delicious with plenty of umami and heat. I ordered vegan miso ramen and my friends ordered curry vegan ramen and miso pork ramen. I tried all the three ramen and all were super good with a hit of spice. The thin noodle was soft and cooked perfectly. The broth was packed with fallout bomb that was pleasant to our mouth. Overall I would definitely vouch this place.
Food is good. Service is trash. The ramen had great flavor, no complaints there. Unfortunately, the customer service was absolute garbage. I arrived first and asked for a table for 5, and requested to sit and order while waiting for the rest of my party. A waitress with short black hair said the entire party had to be present—yet another customer was allowed to sit alone for nearly 40 minutes waiting for his friend. Clearly, rules only apply when they feel like it. When my full party arrived (3 adults and 2 kids), we were seated at a table for 4. I pointed out that we were five people, and the waitress said they “don’t offer tables for 5.” Her solution? Pay an extra 20% if I wanted another table. That is not policy—that’s poor management and worse attitude. Rude, unprofessional, and completely lacking basic customer service skills. Great ramen, but the service alone guarantees I’ll never come back or recommend this place.
This was our first visit here—and it will definitely be our last. When we arrived, we informed the waitress that our party consisted of five people: three adults and two children. She told us that our entire party needed to be present before we could be seated. We explained that the remaining members would arrive within 10 minutes, yet she repeatedly insisted that everyone had to be there. However, I observed at least two other guests who were already seated and clearly waiting for the rest of their party to arrive. This inconsistency was completely unacceptable. We then waited 15–20 minutes to be seated, which in itself would not have been an issue. What was unacceptable was that there were available seats for a party of five, yet the waitress chose to seat another party who arrived well after us. This was extremely unfair and unprofessional, as we had been waiting much longer. We are a party of five and needed at least three tables but the waitress insisted that we would need to pay more for the extra table, which is absolutely absurd. Lastly, the waitress was rude and inattentive throughout the entire interaction. Overall, the service was disappointing and left a very negative impression.
