This is one of the best Hookah bars I’ve been to in my life. George is one of best owners I’ve met in my life. He caters to his customers and makes sure you have an amazing experience . If you’re looking for a smooth night, turn up venue, or just an easy going night cap this the place!
This place is fantastic! You absolutely must come here. I had delicious drinks and a great hookah experience. It’s definitely worth the time, and they’re open late.
I had a good time smoking and enjoying the drinks here. Always a good time with music played at a good volume and being able to talk with my friends. Definitely would recommend for hookah enthusiasts. Server was good, I didn’t get food so can’t speak for it but great time.
Best kept secret, except for those who know, there is an exceptional Egyptian restaurant at 184 1st Ave., between 11th and 12th St., in the East Village 38years called Sahara East. They are professionals in what they do, which is obviously why they have been a neighborhood trusted favorite for so long. Generous portions. Deliciously satisfying, high-quality food. Friendly service. Cozy atmosphere. The enormous year round temperature controlled hidden tent out back in the “garden”, which is a hookah lounge, is fun party space for all occasions. They have large screen TVs for watching sports also. Open ‘til 3 AM! Our baba ghanouj was excellent with a unique chopped parsley. We loved the flavor. The hummus was whipped to perfection with a smooth consistency, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil, tasting as good as it looks The lamb Shawarma with vermicelli rice was flavorfully done. The Argentinian Malbec wine was a perfect pairing The cottage fries had a crispy texture yet soft inside. The baklava came piping hot fresh out of the oven. Great rice pudding with rosewater, coconut, walnuts, and cinnamon. The peppermint tea with fresh mint was the perfect ending for a wonderful dinner. This was the first hookah lounge in New York City. I didn’t think that I was in the mood for Middle Eastern food, but as soon as it came, I cleaned my plate so fast and it was so good. I am grateful that my friend chose this restaurant with excellent fresh high-quality food! You will feel blessed , too. Thank you!!
All staff are amazing friendly attentive! Sahara east is very clean with delicious food choices ( vegan options ) and the music is amazing! You can watch the latest sports games on tvs with comfortable seating! Prices are reasonable. Security ID check enforced for 21+ alcohol beverages. Enjoy :)
Sahara East is a great place to go if you're looking for that chill, non-stuffy vibe. The food and drinks were amazing. And the service was kind, caring and fast. I had the Lamb Shawarma, and it was so good. I wasn't a fan of hummus, but Sahara East has changed my mind completely. My husband and I do plan to visit again.
Where to start the vibe was very nice and the place was very aesthetically pleasing.Good music, food and the drinks were not watered down. Our server was very attentive and tended to our needs. There was no wait and no reservation needed. I will definitely be back here and 10/10 recommend. Try the lamb chops they are Bomb. The blue mist hookah was strong and lasted a long time. Come to this spot with your girls or for a calm date night.
Found this place on google maps and had to check it out! The decor inside is cute.. but that’s the patio and it’s hot in the summer…Obviously. They do put really big fans in front of your table. I just wanna notate that because next time I will sit on the AC inside because I can catch really bad headaches if I sit in heat too long. I feel like you’re at an Egyptian mom’s house here. You get mismatched utensils, the cups are different sizes when you get a refill lol, but.. Service was great! Very attentive. The Hookah is really good and you don’t wait so long for hot coal refill. The food is SO GOOD! I mean really good!! I loved my kofta platter. The meat tastes so good and seasoned. The lamb sliders were 12/10. I mean delicious. I loved the platter because you get salad and a side of hummus and grilled veggies and a few pieces of pita with your protein choice. Great plate! The fresh lemonade is so refreshing. I had a great first visit. Great food and hookah all in one. Only thing I don’t care for the music choices. Would’ve preferred maybe Arabic music or a different type of American music. It was too raunchy with curses. Still I give 5 stars!! And will be back! Oh and the nice guy gave us a few pieces of baklava on the house when we ordered tea. Thank you!
Came here on a whim. I'm glad I did. Turkish coffee may be the best I've had, and the hookah is great too. The thing that really stood out on top of that was how clean it was. Came in when it was slow and they were cleaning ever cleaning every surface, even the fans. I was super impressed with the attention to detail. Also, I love that the music wasn't extremely loud, like most hookah lounges. Will be back.
Sahara East is an esteemed dining destination, distinguished by its exquisite gastronomic offerings and an extensive selection of hookah flavors. The establishment prides itself on providing a capacious and tastefully designed environment, ensuring an unparalleled dining experience for patrons to relish their delectable cuisine in utmost comfort and style.
We had a great time at this place! Food was delicious and the portions were generous. They mixed hookah flavors for us and they were very nice.
Arrived around 10:30 on a Wednesday night and stayed until 2 just talking because the vibe is so easy. Hookah was very good quality but the service is upsettingly slow. Everything I had to go find the server to ask for - water, if we can order, if we can have the check and then to give the check. Wasn’t a busy night either. We ordered food, tea and hookah. High quality hummus chicken and roasted vegetables. I wouldn’t order the mint tea again though. I wouldn’t order anything again actually except for hookah just because the service is so slow. I’ve heard it can get very mixy at night on a Thursday/weekend and given the location can have a lot of NYU students
Great ambience and atmosphere. Very nice decor inside. Good hookah spot! Great staff that were courteous and attentive. Great music playing in the background. Food was good. Drinks were alright... not my favorite. I didn't enjoy the sangria. Only one co ed bathroom... there should be at least 2... Overall Highly recommend for a great time to lounge with food, drinks & hookah.
I’ve tried real hookah before, the kind where two puffs and you immediately feel the effect, but this one didn’t feel like anything. It was just smoke. There are much better hookah spots out there. The staff was very friendly, but the place itself doesn’t feel exclusive or high-end at all. It actually looks more like a cheap option. I wouldn’t go back. 18% gratuity included!
This was the worst experience of my entire life. The whole vibe was awful and all the employees were so rude. The food was rubbery and the I was told I had to leave because of what I was wearing. Just a disgrace never come here!!!!!
