My husband and I came here for an early dinner get together with my brother, sis in law and their 6mo old. Kim, the bartender/server was amazing; attentive without being overbearing. Food was savory, very flavorful, and had the right amount of kick. We all had a great time and finished off all the food we ordered. I recommend the scallion pancakes, the curry laksa, the crispy fried rice, the curried chicken, and nasi lemak. We will definitely be going back!

Loved the Malaysian offerings here. Came with a big group and they were very accommodating to us, service was excellent. Definitely will be coming back here for more of that laksa.

This place is so awesome and I don't want anyone else finding out about it because I hate waiting in lines for things...but I am not actually living in Manhattan right now, so I sadly won't be coming back anytime soon, and I want this place to be open and thriving for next time I come back; therefore, I think everyone should know about this. The place is a little dive-y but not in a bad way at all, very clean, with a long bar, a wall full of TVs showing various sportsball, and country music of my Midwest college days playing in the background. The bartender is super cool and kind and chill and I kinda want to be her friend if that wouldn't be weird (sorry, bartender if you are reading this and I made it weird). We ordered the beef rendang because we love rendang and where I live now I can't reliably access it, as well as the crispy rice. IT. WAS. INCREDIBLE. Like, seriously, I will probably randomly think about this meal and have a slight tear in my eye as I do because it is so damn delicious and I will be far, far away. So, locals, please come to this place and eat all the food because it is so good and you will not be sorry and that way when I do come back it will still be here. Anyway, 10/10, no notes.

Hands down one of my favorite restaurants on the planet. Mama's menu is A+ and her sauce is off the charts. I frequent both locations. Best staff and the Bartenders great! You may get a free sake shot if you behave. Grab food, catch a game, brings friends, family or a date.

Legit Malaysian food here best rendang and laksa in the city. Added I also tried the curry chicken and char Kway teow and being Malaysian this is DEFINITELY the best, most authentic Malaysian hawker style food I’ve had in NYC. Wok hei on CKT is excellent. The flavors of the rendang are mind blowing and tender and the curry chicken has the depth and intensity you’d expect a great curry chicken to have. It’s a dive bar which happens to serve the best Malaysian food in NYC and kitchen is open till 1040pm for last orders. My only thing - I wish the servings would be bigger cuz it’s just so delicious… you gotta order two dishes if you have an appetite.

Fantastic service and food. Heather is great, she is so much fun and engaging. More food options than fish market I but just as good. Their classic ginger wings are there along with buffalo wings. The scallion pancakes and yummy noodles were great as usual. If you were ever looking for a neighborhood bar to be a regular at this is the place.

Can't recommend this place enough. Got the Chow Kwei Tiau and the Nasi Lemak (see pictures). Both screamed home cooking and delicious. Plate was completely cleaned. Place was spacious and comfortable. They were also courteous and pleasant. Alex was an excellent host and took care of everything.

Go here!! Fish market originally opened in seaport and I was so excited to see this new location open up. Came in with my husband for dinner tonight and it didn’t disappoint! Cool bartender, great food and great drinks. Super clean and the food came out quick. Come try it, you won’t regret it!

This place is incredibly delicious, especially their curries and soups. Everything I try here has so much flavor and a kicky spice level. In an area with tons of Asian and Southeast Asian options in particular, I always come back here. Bonus: the bartender will sometimes treat you with a shot of something and drink it down with you and the other patrons. It's welcoming, with a homey and unassuming sports bar atmosphere, but the flavors are anything but unassuming. You won't be disappointed with anything on the menu.

Everyone in our group felt the place deserved its good reputation. I appreciate the thoughtful arrangement and cleanliness. From the first moment, staff members provide exceptional care. You get fine dining ingredient quality without the excessive cost. This is unquestionably true.

This place is incredible. Authentic Malaysian food in an unassuming sports bar setting. The food is truly phenomenal and the entire staff is extremely kind and welcoming. I’ve lived near this place for a couple years and never thought to come in, so if you’ve thought the same I implore you to do it, you won’t regret it!!

Fish Market ll is a cozy, family-run restaurant offering everything from comforting bar snacks to authentic Malaysian cuisine. The owners, Jeff, (his) Mama and the entire staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, making every visit feel like dining with family. It’s truly a hidden gem in the East Village. If you’re looking for a livelier atmosphere, check out their Seaport location for a more bustling experience.

I'm actually mad I've lived near enough to this place for long enough that I could have been having this food all the time. I'm mad! it is so so so good! crispy rice is my all time favorite.

A hidden gem. Fishmarket unpretentiously serves delicious Malaysian food. It’s hard to tell from the outside what cuisine it serves, but once you enter , you’re in for a treat. This was my third time here, and I love their laksa and mama crispy shrimp fried rice. I know I have to explore the rest of the menu, but they are just so good!!! Laksa broth was creamy and did not skim in the coconut milk! There were many pan fried toppings that most restaurants in the states don’t bother to prepare. The fried rice had various crunchy bites making me want more and the shrimp was crunchy in its own way and not over cooked. If you’re there when mama chef is there, AMAZING!!

FishMarket is such a gem — no frills, just seriously good seafood and good vibes. The crab fried rice is loaded with flavor, the spicy jumbo shrimp are perfectly cooked, and the oysters are some of the freshest I’ve had in the city. Everything comes out hot and seasoned just right. The place has this cool, laid-back energy — a little divey, a lot of fun, and full of personality. Great spot to grab amazing seafood, a cold drink, and just relax. 🦐🍺🔥

The food here was good. Interesting flavors and good variety in dishes. Pretty spicy too. Very reasonably priced. The ambience is just okay - it feels like a sport bar that’s somehow also a Malaysian restaurant. If they invested in designing a nice interior this could be a popular restaurant.

Excellent Malaysian food. And a surprisingly wonderful American bar food menu too, the fried fish fingers were freshly fried, crispy outside juicy inside, paired with a perfect tartar sauce, not the typical frozen bar food stuff. Whoever in the kitchen really knew how to make crispy fried food. Highly recommend the food here! The ambiance was interesting... They were playing Midwest country music and football games on the TVs when I was there around 10pm. No one was around and it was quick to get seated. The games and excellent bar food would make a great choice for night bar gatherings, in theory. An interesting choice in NYC though, where I don't imagine the demographic to be as prominent as other more conservative states.

Delicious food and friendly service. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The portion is small, like 60% of regular size compared to other restaurants. We ordered five items for the three of us and it was barely enough to feel full. But each dish was well prepared and delicious.

Nice service, the scallion pancake was fresh and excellent. Mains didnt quite hit the mark but i would go back to try more. Not a huge fan of the sports bar aesthetic, my question is why?
