A great meet and greet place with an awesome choice selection of coffee
This was nice and all but im not a coffee person but my family is.
Five stars alone for no upcharge for plant-based milk. No complaints about the latte and coffee my husband and I got. We'll definitely return when we're back in NYC.
Best oat milk latte I’ve ever had! I gave 5 stars only because of that. I always get coffee from here whenever I visit nyc. If I made a coffee at home, I would definitely buy their coffee beans but unfortunately I don’t. It was bummer that service was not good. Staff weren’t kind and they were so busy to chat with regular customer while making my latte, I was little concerned that she spit any in my drink…
I'm past it and tried the coffee and was surprised on how good it was. The staff was friendly too .
Very solid coffee and dope that they don’t charge extra for oat milk. WiFi was a little weak though had to use my hotspot
They really take pride in their espresso roast here and the staff is extremely knowledgeable on the subject. It’s also a GREAT place to do work although a table is no guarantee; you might have to wait for a bit. My almond milk cappuccino was very acidic at the end which wasn’t expected but I could still tell the bean was high quality. Their larger lattés they put in a tall glass cup which looks really really cool. Would definitely go again.
my go-to cafe for work in wsp 〰️ although they have limited seats, i am always lucky enough to secure a seat every visit. stumptown is one of the best coffee in nyc. i tried oat latte and cold brew w oat. i honestly like latte better, cold brew is somewhat too fruity for my taste. they do not charge extra for plant milk. another perfect cafe for work: free wifi, clean restroom, great variety of pastry, anddd best coffee!
Super cute spot! They have a decent amount of seating for a NY coffee shop. I haven't done laptop work there personally, but the tables are slightly small (perfect for just a laptop.) Others were doing work there so I'm assuming it's laptop friendly! I got a cold brew with oat milk & it was really good. A slight chocolate flavor and sweet. I also love that they have compostable straws!
One of the most beautiful cafes I've never been to. The atmosphere is very cosy and quiet, there are small round tables to read (magazines are available), chat or work a while and a large study table with plugs. The coffee is brutal, be it filter or espreso, lattes (there is vegan milk) or tea. There is a small selection of sweets available and a fridge with takeaway munchies such as hummus and guac. You can buy packaged coffee, (they grind it there if you wish). The only downside that would put is that they only grind to drip coffee despite the fact that there are brewers and filters of all kinds on their website (Aeropress, v60 ..) but overall was a 10/10 experience every time I went there.
Friendly staffs, nice community cafe!! A few blocks away from Washington Square Park!!! Closing at 7pm on Sundays is definitely a plus!!! 👏 Heard about this coffee brand on a podcast, brought some subscriptions, they provide high quality selections of whole beans 🫘. Freshly made and farmed. Lattes at the shop are delicious fo sho, a highlighted point for this particular coffee is you taste less of the bitterness and more of the fruity side which makes drinking coffee more pleasant! Keep it up!!! 🙌
This place makes the best unsweetened latte I've ever had. My stomach is sensitive to coffee, so I need very smooth, non-bitter coffee. I also don't sweeten my coffee. This place does not upcharge for non-dairy milk; in fact, oat milk is their default. The also have almond milk, half and half, and cow's milk. Totally recommend this place. Husband had the almond croissant, and he enjoyed it thoroughly. The place also has a few vegan pastries!! 💕
I used to manage a local coffee shop in Austin, TX that roasts its own beans, and I’ve been to at least a dozen coffee shops in NYC. Trust me when I say, this specific cafe made two of the best cappuccinos I’ve had in years - two mornings in a row, two different baristas. And a cap is the most difficult to get just right (many end up making a foamy latte, wut??) - so to quote a viral content creator, “9 out of 5 starrrsss.”
Stumptown in the Village is easily one of the best coffee spots in the city, and a huge part of that is Lauren, the manager. It’s a busy location and she truly never stops moving. You’ll see her handling a dozen things at once, but it never takes away from the care she gives customers. She somehow manages to run the shop flawlessly and still make time to greet people, solve problems, or just make someone’s day. The whole team is awesome. It makes a huge difference at these types of spots to have great staff. But I still can’t say enough about how great Lauren makes this place. It’s a completely different vibe when she’s not here. Never bad, but just not quite as special.
I’d only tried Stumptown Coffee once before—and that was at an independent café, not one of their own locations. Recently, I met a friend at one of their stores, and it turned out to be a great spot to catch up. The space is on the smaller side, so there’s a security guard managing how many people can enter at a time. Inside, the shop is charming, with beautiful historic architectural details, and the coffee was excellent. The cozy atmosphere paired with high-quality drinks makes it well worth a visit. Just a heads-up: the bathroom door is automatic and surprisingly confusing—I’ve never seen anything quite like it!
A great coffee house. Awesome vibes. Chill and library like in atmosphere. Coffee was off the chain. Rose Gold espresso with oat milk, yep! Delicious. Pastries looked insane and staff was incredible. What a spot, around the corner from Washington Square Park. Go see them and tell em Barsnobs sent ya
I’ve been waiting to visit here for a long time. I felt it was worth the hype. I had a macchiato. The espresso was very good. Not too bitter, a touch of sharpness tempered by the milk. Well done folks. It was lightly busy. All the tables were full, but I had just enough patience to wait, and one opened up. It was a great little place to chill. Music definitely didn’t fit the vibe. But not a deal breaker.
Cute coffee shop with some indoor seating. I had one of their seasonal specials which was sugar and spice latte. It was tasty and something I do not think I ever really had before. Baristas were nice…

Fantastic lattes and fast service. Was a perfect stop on a recent rainy Saturday morning trip to NYC
Good coffee each time. Any kind of their coffee is good. I also have bought beans before.\n\nI love the atmosphere and the choice of pastries at this place. I love the fact it is safe as well.

I have come here dozens of times in the last 4 years and have run into celebrities, cuties, homies and NYU studie...ents. I adore the vibe -- open, high ceilings, industrial chic greys and browns, a lot of light, and strong a$$ wifi. The coffee is reliably good and the staff is cool, accommodating and kind. Shout out to them effortlessly re-doing orders if there has been a mistake. My two improvements would be to add better pastries and snacks since they fall flat compared to the great coffee, and add a few more seats since those can be hard to come by. Otherwise, I love this place.
Sour coffee - local flavour. I've ordered a regular espresso. It was tasting pretty sour. They told me that their own roastary / beans have a taste of blood orange which basically is pretty sour. So they offered me a free macchiato. The taste with milk was definitely more fitting my taste. Personal very nice. Maybe I am just used to other tastings. Would recommend this coffee house anyways but ask in advance which taste to expect ;)
Coffee is decent but nothing particularly special. They have nice outdoor seating, as well as indoors.
My favorite coffee in the city. I'm a regular and buy my beans from them, although they have a space problem but also they're espresso is Hit or Miss many times when it is a hit, it is most definitely a delicious coffee, but it can be burnt occasionally. I go frequently enough to notice that this happens maybe a quarter or a fifth of the times Overall, I love the atmosphere for its intimacy with dark wooden panels and relatively low music compared to other cafes around the area, the friendly staff and the delicious coffee. The seasonal specials are often also great.
Good coffee, good vibes! They didn't have oat milk (my go-to) that afternoon so I got my latte with soy instead. It tasted good - the espresso seemed like a medium roast. The staff was very friendly, especially the barista - always greets you with a smile :) They have free wifi, a restroom and limited seating inside with a few chairs outside. Would recommend!
busy coffee shop in Greenwich Village. a short walk from Washington Square Park. small amount of seating inside as well as some outside as well. well-maintained and neatly organized. warm woody interior. a small menu of coffee drinks options as well as coffee beans to grind and brew at home. didn't spend much time here as i wanted a cup of brew to go. the drip coffee was pretty good. perfect company on a cold Spring day. had a doughnut in hand from Doughnut Plant and the pair made for a good combo of sugar and caffeine al fresco. small drip (12 oz) $3.75. staff was pretty curt. the coffee is pretty busy from open to close.
The coffee is amazing, nothing but respect here, but the location is so busy. Although it's a roomy shop, the seating is very limited. If you wanna chill or work with your laptop, this is not the place but if you want to just have a good cup of coffee, this is definitely THE place!
Nice coffee place with a seating area outside. They are best known for their nitro cold brew. From my coffee loving friends their coffee got a 8 out of ten. The place is usually pretty busy and the restrooms were not clean during our latest visit. All and all is a good option for coffee near Washington Square Park
Best coffee in the neighborhood. But the staff is 100% gen z stare. It makes the vibe a little weird and as a gen xer all I can say is, whatever.
There are stairs to enter this cafe. Prices are typical NYC high end coffee. I like how they have a flat cost for milk regardless of oat or dairy. The line moves pretty quickly. There is some seating I had an iced latte, which was nice on a hot day, but hard for me to judge the coffee. Overall very good. I wish there was some milk or sugar area as my friend didn’t want black coffee. I’d go back.
It was nice to finally visit the brick and mortar location of a brand I usually buy at Sprouts. I ordered a vanilla latte with whole milk, added a touch of simple syrup, and topped it with cinnamon. It ended up being a fantastic drink, perfectly made. Service was fast and smooth. There was no seating available when I arrived, but I eventually found a spot at a community table with other solo guests, which worked out perfectly. I would return and highly recommend this location, and I would also like to come back to try one of their cold drinks. There is a restroom for public use as well; you can ask the barista for the code.
Was hoping to have a sit here for breakfast early in the morning on a Sunday but it was very busy unfortunately. So it was only for takeaway… I had the ginger spice latte which was very good. Also had the croissant and it was amazing. I’m French so I had high expectations and I wasn’t deceived. I hope that next time I will be able to find a place to have a sit inside because the coffee shop looks cosy and comfortable.
This spot makes a mean muffin! Truly! The pumpkin muffin is delicious. The place has an old school, wood-paneled decor. I wish there was more seating, but there still is some! It's a nice place to …
Pretty yummy muffin. Friendly service. Very chill ambiance. One or two pretty girls sitting nearby. \n\nNot a bad place.
Very beautiful cafe but the coffee and service are pretty mediocre and so is the vibe.
Nice spot to go for coffee or tea with friends. They have lots of fun drink options; I’d recommend the iced tea, if you’re not a coffee drinker. However, the staff is not very friendly at all. There’s some indoor seating, but it’s usually taken. Wish there were more options to sit, though it’s a pretty crowded place in the city.
great coffee! never got a gen z stare from a millenial before
Had a latte and a chocolate croissant. Milk for the latte unfortunately tasted burnt and chocolate croissant was a but soggy already. Atmosphere is nice and it wasn’t too busy even on a weekend afternoon.
Nice ambiance. Staff is aloof and not “awake” at work. Slow and lack of awareness. I asked for my order and she said it hadn't arrived. 15min later nothing, asked again and was met with frustration they had forgotten it and with an attitude. Stumptown management train these guys.
I come here all the time and honestly love the place Today while i was waiting for my macchiato the gentlemen making the drinks behind the espresso machine kept pick up his phone , doing something / swipping on it THEN he would brush the excessive grounds from the portafilter… That’s gross!!! Your phone has about a billion germs on it, especially the glass you are swiping then you are using your hand to even out the portafilter.. That has to be a health violation!! And you wonder why the Flu spread like wild fire all over NYC!!
I stopped by Stumptown Coffee Roasters in NYC and absolutely loved the coffee. The Ethiopian roast flat white was fantastic – smooth with hints of sweet fruit and jasmine. The location itself has a great vibe, perfect for enjoying a proper cup. That said, the service let the experience down a little. The staff taking orders didn’t feel very friendly or welcoming – almost like I was bothering them when asking a couple of questions about the coffee and getting beans ground. I also only later found out you get a half-price coffee when buying beans, which wasn’t mentioned at the counter. Bit of a shame, as that could have made the experience even better. Great coffee, great space – just wish the customer interaction matched the quality of the drinks.
I don’t usually drink coffee, but the friend I was with said that this spot was delicious, so I gave their mocha a try. While the coffee was good, their service was not. I waited for 12 min for my coffee and still nothing— there weren’t people waiting in line so I went to ask and was told “maybe someone took it.” No apology or explanation. I was next to the counter, so would have noticed it if anyone took it, and there were at most 3 other clients after me. I eventually got my coffee but got to work late. Their decor is cute though.

- Beautiful ambiance inside \n- They have WiFi that works well \n- The only issue is that the waitresses keep chatting so it's never quiet, even when there are a few guests
barista was rude when i asked for a suggestion. and then the coffee was also had
I’ve never seen a friendly cashier at this location. Let’s be real, New Yorkers aren’t the nicest but they really set the bar low at Stumptown. Rude, dismissive and bothered staff. I hope they can address this, as it seems like a common issue in the reviews and they have such decent coffee.
Barista is rude, despite us leaving tips. Got our order wrong, didn't even offer to fix it. Oh well
I came looking for a barista style coffee, as I found many articles about this place where "coffee looks like a drink prep". It looks great and coffee beans are good, but nothing great. I asked if I could get a Hario V60 drip and received a stare back... I then asked if there was any other method (Clever dripper, Chemex...) And again a stare. It is a chic grab'n'go coffee place, where you have maybe 15 seconds to answer what you want and you'll probably drink at the counter. if you are looking for anything different than that, I would not recommend it at all.
Good coffee and nicely decorated space but a rudimentary attitude towards customers where simple questions regarding the location or setup can't be answered. In my encounter the employee shied away from the question about the location and the additional security at the door. Odd - I'd better go to a supermarket to get a coffee.

overpriced and bland. Staff is never friendly either. There's a dozen surrounding shops that are 10 times better.

Americano over ice messed up the order twice had an attitude when fixing it. I don’t know who this new staff is but all that giggling and wandering about over-the-counter and having an attitude asking for orders shouldn’t be working there there are people out here in New York City that really need work and will do way better job with Hospitality, skills, and being of service. They gotta go !
Coffee taste great. Today at 11a the female cashier/barista was very welcoming and friendly The guy on the other hand looks likes he doesn’t even want to be there and asking a simple question to him “ is this the iced Cortado? “ 3 times for him to just look at me in a condescending way and nods. Lol no thanks ! Do better with the baristas sense of customer service !
Staff had terrible attitudes to us, coffee wasn’t bad! We asked them to lower music because it was loud heavy metal, not what you expect in a coffee shop. Staff was sarcastic to my wife and when she turned around started talking openly my to each other about their right to play whatever music they wanted whenever they wanted, even if it ticks customers off. Apparently, this is not the first time it has happens because there are many other similar reviews. I definitely won’t be coming back here, not will I recommend this place to anyone!!!
Went here with a friend from out of town. The service was rude and barista seemed annoyed we were there, the prices are extremely steep. I took a photo of the coffee shop to show my mom and the security guard came up and told me I wasn't allowed to take any photographs in the coffee shop at all, no signs were posted saying that at all, then proceeded to sit facing the table and stare at us the entire rest of the time, making my friend uncomfortable with her asking me if we could leave. We will not be returning and will buy our coffee elsewhere from now on.
Coffee was okay but the service was really disappointing. The workers are chatting with each other without paying attention to customers. The restroom was out of order which was very inconvenient being at a coffee shop. They also did not have any forks and offered a spoon for pastries. No restrooms to wash hands and no forks. I absolutely do not want to touch pastries with unwashed hands so i had to somehow eat with spoons. Also, i was just taking like 3 seconds videos to put it on my IG story and the security said no recording inside the coffee shop. Like, what? Am i at some sort of museum or something? Besides, that same security was very rude to other customers where they were sitting on the corner table by the entrance. He started to push their table further into the coffee shop without asking or informing them first. They freaked out and that’s when he tells them he wants to put his chair next to the entrance door so he can sit. Again, what is this behavior? I won’t be coming back here.
This is some of my favorite coffee in the country, but the employees here are so rude it’s not worth it. I’ve given them many chances to show me differently and they are consistently just rude and mean people. There are plenty of good coffee shops in the neighborhood, go somewhere else.
The employees working in the afternoon (2pm) on Saturday November 22nd were extremely rude. When we had questions on the holiday menu, instead of kindly helping us, they were smirking, impatient, and rolling their eyes. I never leave Google reviews, but that behavior was unacceptable, so I wanted to share my experience.
Dear Stumptown Corporate, As a longtime customer who has been patronizing this location since its renovation prior to COVID, I feel compelled to raise a serious concern. It appears that the upper half of the space—particularly the ceiling, A/C vents, and light fixtures—has not been cleaned in years. The visible dust and street debris not only detract from the overall atmosphere, but likely contributed to the A/C being out of service for the past two weeks. Beyond the discomfort, this level of neglect may present health and safety risks, especially with debris potentially falling into food and beverages being served. It’s disappointing to see such a beautiful space allowed to deteriorate in this way. Please take this seriously and address the issue. You owe it to your customers—and your staff—to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Went yesterday 5.15 pm. Place is beautiful (a bit small) but Not nice service at all. Staff was eager to leave (they closed at 6) when I got there they were bringing tables and chairs from outside. There were just a few cookies left. When I ask if I could sit in an empty table inside I was told yes but reminded that they closed at 6. I just went for a coffee and had half of it there… when I was leaving the lady shouted to everybody “this is a reminder that we are closing at 6” OMG! I was browsing at the coffee beans before but the attitude discouraged me from buying. I love their coffee beans. But I’d rather buy them in Orlando where I live and not deal with either rude or tired staff. Latte itself was not good either. It’s a shame. I went specifically to try their lattes and see what seemed a cool location. Wouldn’t return
