Came in the late afternoon on Veterans Day - surprisingly cool and sunny. Though the address is in Downing Street, the coffee shop entrance is on 6 Ave... which makes it a great street patio to sip your coffee in the Village!! Jack's Stir Brew Coffee is a local NYC brand serving 100% Organic Coffee Shop and Vegan Bakery. Feeling adventurous? Try some of local favorites such as “Happy Jack” or “Dirty Harry” :)

Great place to stop for a quick on-the-go cup of coffee on the morning commute. Quick, friendly service, good gluten free / healthier baked good options, good coffee. The coffee cups are pretty small compared to a normal "small" sized coffee, and pricey, but not that much of a difference from other boutique coffee shops in West Village. Little outdoor patio seating area is nice for milder days, and covered / enclosed during the winter which is nice. They also seemed to have a great selection of real breakfast foods though I didn't get to try one yet.

Got an oat milk flat white, and they charged an additional $1.05 for oat milk. Wouldn’t say the coffee here was good enough for the prices, much better coffee around the corner.

Updated Oct 2023 review: I came back here hoping to experience some of the magic of Jack's that I remember from living next door years ago. The coffee was still as good as I remember but I miss the Jack's vibe from all the community members (old and young) hanging out, reading the morning paper, or just chilling with their dog out front. The staff also werent as warm and welcoming as I was used to. I probably won't visit again so I can still keep some of the magic in my memory. Times change but still glad Jack's is standing and hasn't turned into a Starbucks! 2017 review (previously a 5 star review): Gem in the West Village. Love the local vibe and delicious coffee. This is my favorite Jack's location hands down!

I came here because my tour guide says it’s the best coffee shop in town … may be it was but definitely not when I was there. I ordered just a black stir brew and was very disappointed when the coffee tasted a bit sour. May be it’s just my luck but i think the beans are not as fresh as it should be. But the place has a cozy feel and it’s in a nice part of town. Would’ve been nice if the coffee was good!

The place is nice and cozy. However, I didn't like the espresso. Far from what I was expecting. something went very wrong along the process... Coffee was perhaps overexposed... too dark and burnt for my taste.

Mean staff and they act like they don’t want you there. Million other places in the WV for a friendly coffee, and I like Tribeca Jack’s much better

The 1 & 2 star reviews are warranted - writing this for management: I regularly visit your Jack's on 10th location living in the area. There is a member of your team who is increasingly ornery and unpleasant to myself, my girlfriend when she goes alone, and others while I'm waiting in line. They have longer blonde hair and almost shout at customers when they change their order, and similarly yelled at my girlfriend when she tried to use her rewards because the system wasn't working. This brings me to this morning - I've had maybe 5 or so of these bad encounters. This morning I go in with my girlfriend and I order a large black coffee with extra skim milk - the same I order everywhere. I am relieved this ornery barista is making the coffees and the other barista is taking orders. However, I am confused when instead of a large coffee with skim milk I get a half filled coffee with half a cup of milk foam. I tell the barista - "this is what i ordered and this is what you gave me". He keeps looking at me. I say do you understand this isn't what I ordered? He says "well just at this store it's how we make it". What does that even mean - oh yeah sometimes we just wing it here and decide not to give what you want? Cool? Reality is I order this often, including at Jack's, and I have never gotten this output. At this point, the lack of hospitality and getting orders plain wrong I'm done going to Jack's. But to have your baristas now lying to avoid doing right by customers tells me cultures gotten toxic and it's time to find new staff.

Worst coffee I’ve had in NYC; I ordered an oat milk latte and it was served boiling hot (not an appropriate temperature for a latte) It tasted super bland as well. I almost threw it out.
